Catastrophe! Nightmare at Scramble Crossing

Kai saw the girl staring at his cast. It made him... Rather uncomfortable. She hadn't accepted it as a valid reason for him thinking the city was dangerous, and... He couldn't really say that he liked feeling pitied. Or that she might ask what happened. He didn't want to have to lie too much, but explaining that he'd been nearly bitten in half by a giant digital wolf was not likely to be believed. And even if it was, Digimon were... Kinda supposed to be a secret.
Oh, uhh... For fun? Kai... Hadn't thought about that a lot, ever. He was kept busy between studying and club activities... And lately, Digimon and hospitalization. But... The first two were not fun for young girls... The last one was not fun at all... And Digimon were, again, kind of a secret. What did people do for fun? Uhhh... What things did Haruki talk about? Those guys tended to hang out near Kai's desk. Hmm. Girls, karaoke, girls, arcades, girls, amusement parks... More girls. Okay, so there was a recurring theme here. But It wasn't really one he could work with. Solace was... Rather young, and while he didn't want to place any labels- He doubted she was interested in that stuff.
"Hmm, well, lets see.... There's the park," Perfect for letting Digimon run free! "Cat street's a rather popular place... Though more for people my age than yours. It has an arcade, some nice cafes," and some nice alleys for Shiro to dash into on a whim! Yay! "Err... There's bands at A. East, I hear. Oh, and of course, there's always the mall." Not that he went to either of of them. Money! The root of all evil!
Of course, there was plenty of shopping outside the mall. In many different flavors, as Solace had found out so... Unfortunately.

According to Kai's words, there was a lot of places to have fun, even if some involved spending money and others "weren't appropriate" for her age. She could get behind those two reasons, especially considering what had just happened.
"Oh, I see..." She seemed thoughtful for a moment. Kai seemed to be slightly uncomfortable right now. Why that could be? She wasn't sure, but she didn't find a point on asking either. What brought her curiosity was something rather simple. She gazed at him, her smile still unwavering.
"So... mind showing me?" That question should've been obvious considering that she wasn't a native and barely knew what all those locations event meant despite a general idea. Somebody willing to show her the sights would be greatly appreciated. "I'd love to see the sights and I'm sure that you'll be a pretty good guide."
It wasn't as if she had anything too interesting to do right now, after all. Returning to the hotel to rest was her initial plan, but now that looked so boring in comparison to what they could do together! She was sure they'd have a lot of fun!

Erk. Tour guide. Last time Kai had tried to be a tour guide, it had ended less than spectacularly. Still, he was definitely not comfortable letting this young girl walk the streets of Tokyo alone! There were Yakuza, perverts, molesters, and wild Digimon out there! He'd just... Have to apologize to Shiro later. There was to be no Digital World today. Just a walk around town, and a pair of Digimon in a bag. There was absolutely no way this could go wrong! If it wasn't obvious, that was sarcasm.
Well, uh... Sure. Where do you want to go?" On the bright side, this was Shibuya, not Terminus City! It would be a lot easier to show someone around a place he lived, rather than somewhere he'd only been a handful of times. And I assure you, you're only imagining the groan that emanated from his bag. One hundred percent your imagination.

There was something that Kai wasn't getting, at least according to Solace's mindset. When somebody was appointed as a "guide" or in charge of "showing somebody the sights" usually that person was the one who picked the destination. Maybe a blunt answer for something more obvious would've been better, and hopefully he'd notice her intent soon enough.
"Well, that's for you to decide, of course! Guides usually do that, don't they? They know where to go because they know this place better! So... I'll put myself in your hands!" She'd have ended that phrase with some strange japanese phrase like "please take care of me" or something of the like, but Solace thought of that as too cheesy, not to say that it made anybody who said them sound like a wimp. And she wasn't a wimp! She was a young woman reaching her prime, up to the point that she was already racking honors in the world of sports.
Otherwise, it'd have been pretty hard for her to be here.
"While we walk there, you can tell me a bit of yourself! Like, how old are you? You look like a highschool student! Maybe you're about to graduate? That's neat! Have you ever thought on what you'll study after you finish high school?"
That was a flurry of questions without much inherent meaning, but it wasn't as if most of what Solace said wasn't that. At least, this way she'd get to know him a little better as long as he complied with her questions.
Maybe he'd even ask something in return? That was usually how this kind of conversations went.

So much for that. Great. Kai was expected to know places to go. He knew them, sure, but which ones would a little girl like? It wasn't like he interacted with little girls that much! If only he had a little sister, he might have an idea. As it was, he had met exactly two little girls lately. Both of whom had either just found or proceeded to find a digi-egg. Hopefully this wouldn't make a third- This place was far too busy to explain Digimon to someone!
Alright, to start- Basic geography. "Alright, well, where we are right now is Scramble Crossing, the busiest intersection in Tokyo. Right across there is the train station, but I don't expect you'll need it all that soon... There's a variety of stores beyond the one you stumbled into. But that's about it. Now, the whole area is considered Central Shibuya. As opposed to the four other districts, Northern and Western Shibuya in their respective directions, Greater Shibuya to the East and Downtown to the South. Now, I'd recommend staying away from Greater Shibuya, as there's relatively more criminal activity there." Not to mention Digimon could appear that would eat her in one bite! Though, maybe that wasn't limited to there just because it was where it happened to him. He needed to learn more.
"Downtown has the mall and A. East, which I told you about... But, well, I don't really see the point in going there. Unless you really want to go shopping and dancing, of course. Western Shibuya is mostly residential, not much to do there... So that leaves Northern Shibuya. Miyashita Park is always nice, so we may as well start there." Wow, process of elimation worked well! And gave a good general layout of everything, too! Hopefully he hadn't sounded like he was rambling too much!
Being a high school student was neat? Well, he supposed it was to someone who wasn't one. "Yeah, I'm a high school student. Only a first year, though. Nowhere close to graduation... Which is good, because I haven't thought about what I'll do after!" College, probably... Another few years of studying would help him try to figure out what to do with his life. But what would he do with Kuro and Shiro when it came down to that!?
So, uh, what about you? What brings you to Tokyo?" The girl was clearly foreign, and she was staying in a hotel. What was such a young girl doing in a hotel in Tokyo? Family vacation? But then what were her parents doing without her? And why Tokyo instead of somewhere actually nice like Okinawa?

Solace listened attentively to every word Kai said, trying to picture a mental image of how this place exactly looked like; it seemed to be pretty fun! Hopefully he'd get her to some of those interesting places, but if he didn't... eh, not that big of a deal. Her silence was promptly broken as soon as he spoke about her possible motives in this places, bringing a pretty big and satisfied grin to the brunette's face.
She just loved talking about her exploits, but who didn't?
"Competition, of course! One always has to strive to be the best at what you love, don't you think? Even if it doesn't look like it, I'm an accomplished athlete!"
The girl puffed up her chest proudly before continuing.
"A table tennis competition if you were wondering what exactly it was. It was pretty fun! I'm looking forward to come here next year and defend my title as the new champion and prove that the reverse penhold backhand grip is the best style there is!"
Kai would probably shouldn't have asked if he knew this would be the result of that otherwise innocuous question. Solace's unbreakable, yet justified hubris about her abilities could be a little overbearing at times.

Table tennis, huh? "I play some table tennis." Kai admitted. "Not right now, of course." Given the whole, broken thing. "And... Not at that level of course." Err... Well, so much for making conversation. Kai had probably killed it before he started. Whatever. "Anyways, let's get going. Park. This way." Kai pointed off towards Northern Shibuya, then started walking that way.
It would be a fair walk there, even once they got out of the traffic of scramble crossing. Well, hopefully it wouldn't be an awkward silence, despite the fact that Kai... Was kinda boring. He wasn't good at anything, like this girl was... Just average. At everything. no matter how hard he tried. And he tried everything.
Funny how it never struck him that managing to be average at absolutely everything could be considered impressive, too.
