Did the players really have a choice? There was no way to get back to the regular map. They could port back to the city, but wouldn't be able to finish the event. Maybe it was for the best they just called this one. No, they had come this far. They didn't have to be intimidated by this stranger. "Yes, if you can show us the way out of here we will happily leave. We can't just walk up a river of lava." "I say we kill him and take his gun thingy! Dibs!" It was up to this stranger. There was no going back. Could he just show them the way out? Something tells Dante that's not an option. "If we have to, we fight." "He doesn't appear to be a player. If he's a boss we don't have a choice. This is just strange. No one has ever mentioned this guy was down here."

"If you cannot go back the way you came that is unfortunate. So I'm sorry the only way out is death, I cannot let you pass here." Keith said before swinging the large blade causing cutting the wind with such ferocity that it sent the air forward towards he group at a blindingly fast pace. Dust didn't even see it coming at all and couldn't duck before the attack.
The attacks hit both Luna and Dust forcing them into critical health. A debuff was placed on them. The Aura of a demon which decreased their attack and defense by 50%. This was just unfair. Luna quickly healed the party as Keith switched his stance and fired a rocket at the group.

Combat had started. But before the party could even react, Keith stuck them with his sword, taking out most of their health and leaving a nasty debuff. The pain was excruciating. "Oh my god! Make it stop!" Maybe that was one of the reasons this area was off limits. The pain this character inflicted on the player was just too much. What kind of a sick mind would put this in a video game? For the pain to be so intense. After being healed up by Luna, Dante takes up a defensive stance, hoping he doesn't have to take a hit that hard again. Aria throws down a force field device and creates a barrier separating the party from this psycho killer.
"Okay, new plan! There's no way we are going to survive at this rate. I need ideas here people!" "We have to avoid getting hit. Maybe attack from a distance and deplete his health over time." "No, we need a big kaboom, all at once!" The clock is ticking. The force field is not going to last much longer. "We need some kind of a way around this fight." "Well, we are glitched below the map. What if we could lure them to a spot without a floor programmed in? They would fall right through." "Possibly. We're running out of options here." The party braces themselves as the force field goes down. Dante activates his duelist ability that increases the party's chance to dodge.

Dust looked around for a spot, sadly only the walls were corrupt not the floors. Keith took little time destroy the barrier with another slash and dashed forward blade raised about to cut through everyone at once. Dust and Luna both sprinted at him Dust stopping the blade with his own barely. They stood neither side wanting to give in as Luna jumped up and threw her fist at his head.
Keith grabbed Luna and spun her around smacking her into Dust then threw both back at the party. It didn't do as much damage since it wasn't his blade but something was off. Keith was acting like this was a human battle. He hadn't used a skill and that debuff was auto.
What they didn't know was this was they way Keith was designed, a secret boss. "If this is truly all you have I'm sorry, there is no way you'll beat me." Keith said before firing another Bazooka shot at the group.

Keith continued pwning the party. It looked like they didn't even stand a chance. Keith tosses Dust and Luna into the other party members, knocking them down. Keith's blast from his bazooka critical hit some of the party members. Wormmon, having a high defense and a boat load of health, survived the blast. Dante however, did not. His health hit zero, and he fell to the ground. The pain is unfathomable. Due to one of the debuffs, Dante cannot be resurrected for a while. Aria looks down at her fallen comrade. "Damn it! How do we stop this mad man?" Wormmon is really sad Dante has fallen. He charges up his cannon and fires a huge blast into the ceiling.
The attacks blasts a huge hole in the ceiling, causing rubble to come falling down. Keith is stuck momentarily, surrounded by large chunks of debris. "I don't care who you are! If you mess with us, you are going down!" Wormmon activates one of the upgrades on his laser cannon, and sprays Keith with poisonous gas, dealing damage over time. Aria activates a defensive ability, bracing for Keith's next attack. "If we can stay alive long enough, we just might have a chance to defeat this boss."

Keith shook his head at Aria and Wormmon. "Mad man, messing with you. I am not mad nor am I messing with you. You came here, you choose your path." Keith said swinging his blade once cutting through all the rubble with ease sending it towards the party. "And I chose mine!" Keith said before putting the blade into the ground and leaning on it for a few moments.
Dust shot every rock as it came and saw what he was doing. "Everyone hold." Dust said as Keith snapped his finger removing the debuffs, was this a trick. "And I've chosen to handle this differently, the ones who created me wouldn't like it but honestly abandoning me to rot in this gliched place isn't the way I'll go." Keith said most likely just breaking any expectations any human had about A.I in this game, he just spoke. His mind.
"You can revive the downed one now." He said wanting everyone to hear what he was about to day. Luna nodded and went to heal Dante.

Luna revives the incapacitated Dante. He looks over at Keith. "Crap, I'd almost rather be dead still." Wormmon and Aria look over and scowl at Dante, for acting like such a coward. Aria turns her attention back to Keith. She unequips her weapons, and takes a few steps forward. "I don't care what you believe you are. To us, you're nothing but a defected code of data. There's something about you that made the designers block you off in solitude. Again, we did not intend to come here. I no longer wish to fight a needless battle. You are not entitled the right to decide your fate." Dante looks at Aria like she's gone off the deep end. "Um, can you equip your weapons and stop taunting the sentient killing machine?"
While Aria was running her mouth, Wormmon left Keith's line of sight, then came back sneaking around. He places a nearly undetectable landmine near the wall to the right. After placing the mine, he circles around and rejoins the party from the other side. "I've got an idea, you guys! How about instead of another battle, we settle this with a different kind of challenge?" "Hey, I think you're on to something there. Some kind of contest or a game should determine if we are allowed to pass." They tried convincing Keith, but he isn't having any of it, at least at first. If this boss does indeed have some sort of sentience, maybe they can persuade him into a contest, maybe even lure him into a trap.

Keith lets out a small laugh at Aria and her rant. "Yeah I'm nothing but a bunch of data but, nah never mind it's not important." Keith said but for a moment he looked up at Dust, Luna and Wormmon, this sent a chill down his spine. "I was blocked off because they decided I was to smart for my own good, but sadly they wanted to reach release dates so they just blocked me off." Keith said kicking the large blade up and spinning around and catching it.
"Data or not I decided to spare you all, there's no way you can win. Hell even with those mines you placed you can't kill me." Keith said before walking farther into the cave. "If you want out follow me, just be prepared I suppose." Keith said not falling for another challenge but he did just offer a way out, should they take it.

Fiddlesticks! This boss was even stronger than the party was originally lead to believe. They were able to detect Wormmon's mine, and now the party knew why this map was removed from the final version of the game. I guess even great games can cut content. However, Keith has decided to escort the party onward, warning of future danger they may encounter. The party follows Keith further into the cave. Dante goes to tell Wormmon something, but after Keith detected the mine, he didn't want to risk him hearing what he was saying. Dante sends Wormmon a private message. "Is this strange or what? The bandit leader turned out to be a player, but this guy is like something else entirely." "You're right, but now he's helping us out, and I'm not gonna complain!"
The party continues following Keith through a maze of tunnels. Even if they had gotten past, there would be no way to tell which was the right way out. It was a good thing this level had been cut. The lava and the lizard assailants up above were more than dangerous enough. Even as the party traveled underground, above them, group after group of players continued to die from the lava. Was this event really worth rescuing a couple soldiers? What is the true motive behind this event, and why had no party been able to complete it, even after hardcore players have had weeks to explore the game?

Dust and Luna followed the person through the cave. It was vast but for some reason Dust felt Keith was just going in a random direction. Did all paths lead to the same end or something. Luna not caring quickly caught up with Keith. "Why'd you attack us in the first place?" She asked and Keith shrugged. "Figured I'd at least attempt to do what I was programmed to do, say a line or two. Swing my sword a bit, but in the end I decided I'd rather fight the thing I should be protecting." Keith said which made Dust just that much more curious.
"What thing?" Luna voiced Dusts concern and Keith didn't stop walking. "Might surprise you but I'm a mid-boss. After you survive for twenty minutes something comes out. Kills me then you go defeat it. But you see in play testing I always dodged the thing meant to kill me. Eventually that bugged everyone far to much then they sealed me."
Keith led them to a giant door. "You said soldiers right? Originally it was gonna be some stupid rare sword. Eh go on through." Keith said putting his hands in the coat pockets but didn't start to co back. "Its probably a lot weaker now so go nuts."

The party finally reached the next area. They entered a large enclosed area inside the volcano, with lava pouring down from all angles. The room is large and the ceiling is very high up. Clearly there was no place for the players to hide. Keith explained more about the area, and why he was removed from the final version of the game. Apparently the AI was too powerful for the final boss, and broke the game. However, without Keith's help, even the designers couldn't figure out a way to defeat this boss. Slow, rhythmic chanting and drums can be heard all around the chamber. The music grew louder and louder, until eventually the chanting was almost ear piercing.
The ground below starts to rumble. Giant rocks and clumps of dirt come up through the ground in the center. Large, orange and black legs emerge out of the ground. A loud screeching can be heard. One by one, more legs come up until there is eight total. Up comes a giant orange and black spider, drooling from the mouth. The drool hits the floor and melts through the dirt. "Eww, gross!" "We have to be careful. That stuff could melt through our flesh. And I DON'T plan on finding out what that feels like." Until now, Aria had been a no nonsense, brave, hardcore player. But this giant spider was creeping her out. "Okay! Let's go back and fight Keith instead! I don't wanna go near that thing!" "See? This is why girls shouldn't play video games." Aria is freaking out too much to give Wormmon the what for.
The spider jolts across the ground at blazing speed towards the party, but jumps up and flies right into the lava, splashing some of it towards the party. Some of the players are hit for light damage. "That thing can swim through lava? Oh come on!" The party heads closer to the middle of the chamber. The spider jumps out of the lava and lands on the ground. The spider dashes over, crawling up the wall on the left side, circling around the room. Wormmon tries blasting it with his laser cannon, but can't land a hit. Aria's heart rate is getting faster, and she's on edge. "Kill it kill it kill it!" Dante uses the ability 'A Duelist's Strife', increasing the party's chance to successfully land a hit. The spider jumps out of the lava and flies over the party, landing on the other side of the room. Lava almost hits the party, but Aria manages to pull herself together long enough to deploy a temporary energy dome, protecting the party from the lava. Dante looks over at Keith, who is just standing next to the entrance nonchalantly. "Jeez, Keith, what did you do to kill this thing?!"

Dust had no idea what was going on but managed to avoid getting hit as Luna once again clinged to his back. "What are you scared of spiders to?" Dust asked but she shook her head. "I'm afraid of melting in general." She admitted before Dust was forced to jump up to avoid a sweeping attack aimed at only them.
Keith was standing leaning on the wall. "Now if I told you that it wouldn't be as fun right? And trust me girly." Keith's voice got much more menacing and dark. "I could promise you a death far worse then this. Your choice." Keith wouldn't admit it but that was just to get her to stop being afraid of the spider and start being afraid of him.
Dust jumped up and Luna and him caught the leg meant to hit them and were swung around. Dust let go and went into the air. He then returned to the earth slashing through the leg taking it out and doing quite a bit of damage. "Why not help us?" Dust asked swinging his blade back and returning to his guns.
Keith thought for a moment and sighed snapping his fingers. "Demoic oath." He whispered as everyone got double attack and double defence. Though it cost half health to Keith to use. "Don't waste that." He said before closing his eyes.

Keith said it wouldn't be as fun if he helped them. Aria thinks he's having fun messing with the players. Then he sacrifices half of his health to use 'Demonic Oath', and double the party's attack and defense. "Now this is more like it!" Wormmon charges up their laser cannon, his arms shaking from the vibrations of the cannon. He stares down the giant spider. "For once, I'm glad a bug's gonna get squashed." Wormmon charges forward and jumping through the air towards the spider, at a slight angle. He swings his laser cannon down hard, bashing the spider right in the abdomen. He then fires the cannon point blank, hitting the spider with a massive laser blast, critical hitting. The spider cries in pain, having taken a decent chunk of damage but still well above three quarters health. Dante does the math in his head. Double damage not even 25% of his total health. So normally it would take eight or more massive critical hits to defeat this thing. And that's not taking into account just how agile this spider was.
The spider circles around the room, passing by the party and smacking them with one of their legs. The spider circles back around and face Wormmon. The spider splashes lava at the big gunned player, dealing decent damage. Had Keith not used his buff, The attack would have been that much more powerful. Wormmon fires another blast, but the spider dodges, jumping back into the lava. The party waits for the spider to come back out, but this time it emerges from another stream of lava, spraying lava all over the room. Luckily, with the buff and Luna's healing, the party is doing quite well so far. Dante charges towards the spider and blink strikes, teleporting above the spider and piercing it with his sword. "Yes! Way to go, kill that thing!" Dante's sword is stuck in the abdomen of the spider. The spider circles around the room with Dante on top, hanging on to the sword. "Whoah! Holy Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" He manages to stay on, but when the spider goes to jump into the lava, Dante lets go and jumps off.
At this point, the party is well spread out. The spider jumps out of the lava, landing on top of Aria. "Oh my god oh my god oh my gooood!!!" She screams like a crazy person, terrified by the giant spider right above her. The spider sticks its mouth right in Aria's face. The drool drips down, burning the skin on Aria's face for huge damage. Aria grabs a grenade and jams in right into the body of the spider with her fist. The other party members run towards the spider, drawing its attention away from its prey. The spider charges towards Dust and Luna, standing above them and biting down. Luckily Dust is fast enough to dodge the spider's mouth. The spider jumps into the lava, and starts spraying lava at Dust and Luna. The other party members are too far away to shield them from the lava. "No, look out!"

Dust had been shooting the spider with a few screams from Luna about the Lava but once it attacked him he could barely roll out of the way. He managed to recover but he saw the large thing throw Lava at him. Luna had her eyes open in terror as Dust did nothing but close his eyes and open them once more staring at the wall of lava as Luna screamed like the little girl that she was.
Dust walked towards the Damn thing like a crazy person before Luna starting hitting him on the head with her staff. "Dust no, this isn't funny Dust I don't wanna be melted. I think it hurts." She cried out and accidentally activated a skill. It formed a barrier around the two and Dust did nothing but run through like a crazy mother.
Dust came out the other side jumping up before activating his tyrant revelo. He grabbed the sword on his back spinning it around and using the weight to force himself downward and stab into the spiders head. Dust then grabbed the sword and with a ton of effort LIFTED THAT MOTHER INTO THE AIR AND SLAMMED IT BACK ON SOLID GROUND. Luckily it didn't hit anyone. And wealth quite a lot of damage. If it wasn't for the buff Keith gave and his own buff Dust would of just looked like a idiot back there.
Luna kept beating Dust up with her fists of fury though. "Dust that was scary, why'd you do that. Meanie." She said as she kept hitting him.

The players were being hit by lava more and more as the battle waged on. It has dealt quite a bit of damage, and hurt insanely bad. Again, what sociopath actually put a pain feature in a virtual game? Dante didn't wanna met the sick mind who made that decision. (lol sah yllatot eH) Dust grabbed onto the sword and thrusted it into the spider's head. Had this not been a game, this would have clearly killed any spider. He then lifted up the spider, and slammed it down on the ground. The spider stalls for a moment, then gets up and circles around back towards Wormmon. It is noticeably slower than before Dust's devastating attacks. Just when the spider was out of reach from Dust, the grenade in its abdomen goes off, exploding inside the spider and dealing massive damage.
The spider flips over on its back, in critical health. It rapidly flails its legs back and forth, in terrible pain. The party circles the spider. "How should we put it out of its misery?" Before they can decide, Aria takes off her boot and repeatedly smashes the spider with it. "YA! How do you like me now?! Ha!" After a dozen or so hits, the giant spider's health hits zero. A powerful beast, but in the end it went out with a whimper. Several lava lizards emerge from the streams of lava, staring at the players. Two of them stand in front of the group, and bow before them. "Uh, what's going on?" "Maybe we just killed their god, and that makes Aria the new giant spider god of the lizard people." They get back up, and a large boulder blocks off the lava stream directly across from the entrance. The party has earned passage back to the surface, and the return of the captured patrol.
Back at the game's hq, the developers are informed the boss was defeated. The game's lead who created the game is informed of this. He slams his coffee down on the desk and throws his papers on the floor. "Sir, we've gathered what information on the players we can." He looks at the emails registered to the accounts. "Worm king at go yuck fourself dot com?!" His rage turns into sinister laughing. "I want to deal with these players personally."
