There is currently a slight problem in the town of Rustport. Namely, the houses, hastily thrown together as they are, have been finding themselves full of holes! The scource of this scourge is clear. A newcomer in town, a young Drimogemon- And one who absolutely loves to find out what is going on in places he can't see. Such as inside of houses. And so young Drimogemon takes his drill to the walls, and the walls fall before him. Unfortunately, his memory is so bad, he can never remember what houses he's already been in!
As might be expected of such a situation, this has made a lot of people very unhappy. But for all his naivety, Drimogemon is a slippery customer. Whenever someone tries to force him out of town, he slips underground. The people are at their wits end- As they will happily tell all who will listen. Maybe someone, eventually, will be strong enough, smart enough, and skilled enough, to make this menace leave.
Takara Kureha, of course, has no clue about any of this. He just happens to be passing through Rustport, on his way to the Ancient Ruins. There's treasure in those ruins- He's found it before, and is certain that there is more to be found. Rustport just happens to be on the way... So he took the time to stop for a drink. The fact that the contents of his glass are more sand than water... Doesn't concern him one bit, as he tosses a coin to the barkeep to pay for this valuable resource.
But just then, the floor rumbles, as a drill forces its way through. "Oh, not again!" the barkeep yells, as he catches a jug falling from a shelf. Get out! Get out you filthy beast!" Clearly not talking to Takara, of course. Takara had bathed not three weeks ago! Still... The boy watched the drill dig away wistfully. He wanted it. He wanted that drill. Perfect for tearing through cavern walls! And digging up buried treasure! Good thing he'd already paid, because he was on the move! He had a drill to catch!

Since Coronamon had finally learned how to Armor Digivolve, he and Marshal were finally free to explore the Digital World while being a little safer. Today, they had made their way to a town called Rustport in the Western Flatlands.
"Isn't the Digital World incredible, Marshal?" Coronamon asked. "So many different climates and ways of life, it's hard not to get excited when seeing something new for the first time!"
"It's a pretty cool place," Marshal agreed. "The variety here almost reminds me of America, in a way."
"What's an America?" Coronamon wondered, totally confused. Marshal just chuckled at his bewildered partner as the two of them walked into the town's saloon, hoping to find a drink to tide them over before their exploration continued. What they weren't counting on when they walked in, however, was the ground literally opening up in front of them as a Drimogemon dug through the floor. The Digimon had just disappeared than a dirty looking teenager began to walk toward Marshal's general direction.
"Hey, do you know what's going on here?" Marshal asked the boy.

There was a reason that Drimogemon had, thus far, been able to evade arrest. Takara looked down the endless tunnels. Nope, no catching up with that critter underground. Curses. This was getting fun! "I will have that drill!" he declared, a broad grin on his face. If anyone here actually knew him, they might have sighed. When Takara got like this, it was certain he would not give up. Ever. And Hagurumon had the scars to prove it.
And Takara was still planning to go back for that MetalSeadramon. Eventually.
Oh, what? Was that human talking to him? Quick Takara fact check. That was a human. Humans are, by definition, boring. Boring things aren't worth paying attention to. And so, to anyone who knew Takara, it was absolutely no surprise that the query of the boring human was completely and utterly ignored. But while his words might be ignored, his presence was not. Takara had an epiphany. "You!" he declared, pointing at the other boy. "Help me get that drill!"
Refusing wouldn't help much. Takara was incapable of hearing rejections of his sudden proposals. Marshal was in this for the long haul, unless he did something crazy like slip away while Takara was making plans. And Takara didn't bother with plans. Nothing ever goes according to plan. Easier to react to things as they come, than to frantically try to change the plans in response to a single thing. Okay, that and planning takes too long.
Now then. How do you find a Digimon, hidden underground?

Well, that was certainly direct. Marshal didn't have time to say no to the guy. Marshal sighed. It looked like he was gonna be in this for the long haul. Not like he had much going on, anyway. A little adventure never hurt anyone, especially since this gave him the chance to test out Lynxmon in the field again. "All right," he answered. "First, though, what do you mean by, 'get that drill'? Is that your partner or something?"
"Marshal," Coronamon interrupted. "I think this boy might be one of those Xros Generals I've heard about."
"Xros General?" Marshal repeated. "What's that?" This hadn't come up in any of Marshal's research into Digimon so far, and that was progressing quite smoothly already.

"What's a Xros General?" Takara asked as well. The term seemed vaguely familiar. No matter! He had a drill to catch! Those underground vaults would not open themselves! And how that drill made the ground seem like water... Takara knew that he had to have it! No time to explain! Takara was already off running in the direction the drill was headed!
There was, unfortunately, no obvious trail to follow. The drill had vanished underground, and quite possibly would not be seen again for some time.Even Takara knew that. So he sat down on the spot, and began to think. If he was a drill... Where would he go? Hmmm. He should ask someone else. But who? Hagurumon? Nah, too servile. He'd think too hard and give what he thinks is the 'expected' answer. Whamon? Too big! He'd crush the town if he was summoned here. Hmm.
"If I were a drill, where would I go..." the boy wondered out loud. He had completely forgotten the other boy, of course. He had more important things to take care of! Specifically, finding that drill!

Well, if this guy had wanted Marshal's help, he had a really funny way of showing it. Marshal and Coronamon ran after the boy, who had taken off in the direction that Drimogemon had apparently gone.
"I don't understand," Coronamon muttered as they ran. "This guy is talking about capturing Digimon, which is reportedly what Xros Generals do, yet he doesn't seem to have any knowledge of the subject. Could he be playing dumb? Or is he something else entirely?"
"Well, either way, he doesn't seem to have any Digimon with him," Marshal noted. "If he's really insistent on capturing that Drimogemon, he's going to need our help." The two of them continued to chase after the boy, who had apparently forgotten entirely that they were there.

Oh well, no time to wait around! As if it wasn't obvious, Takara followed whatever whim crossed his mind. And lots of whims crossed his mind. It could make him a pain to deal with... Combined with his refusal to acknowledge the existence of anything he considered boring. And, well, he considered most things boring. This was a guy who spent years of his life digging through trash, just because it was slightly less boring to him. This is not the action of a fully sane individual. If you ever expected Takara to do something sensible, now would be the time to stop.
Conveniently, Takara's decision to return to town coincided with a sudden ruckus.SOmeone was shouting. Sounded promising! Yup, there the drill was, in full drill glory. In the middle of someone's home... For now. It dove back underground. Takara wasted no time, this time. He leapt into the hole behind the drill, pulling out his Xros Loader. "Digimemory, slot in! Hagurumon, execute!" At that, the gear that was his partner quickly reloaded from his storage chip.
Takara promptly pulled Hagurumon beneath himsliding through the rapidly collapsing tunnel on the back of his makeshift hoverboard. If he couldn't track from aboveground, he'd just have to follow below! Flawless logic, no? Of course, how he was going to get back out... That seemed slightly less certain.

Marshal and Coronamon had just caught up with the boy, who pulled out a crazy looking Digivice and suddenly seemed to summon a gear and ride it down a hole that Drimogemon had probably dug. All this excitement was starting to get Marshal revved up and ready for an adventure.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Marshal asked his partner.
"Probably," Coronamon sighed, "and for the record, I don't approve of this strategy!"
"Of course you don't," Marshal grinned. "You don't know how to have fun, Coronamon! Digi-Armor, Energize!" Marshal's D-Terminal and Digivice both resonated with each other and triggered Coronamon's Armor Digivolution.
"Coronamon Armor Digivolve to...Lynxmon, the Blaze of Justice!"
Marshal hopped on the Armor Digimon gently, as he still wasn't fully convinced that Lynxmon's flaming body wouldn't somehow burn him even though he had ridden on the Digimon before. With that, the two of them jumped into the hole after the strange boy and his...gear? Man, this was getting confusing.

The tunnel was dark. And then less so. Something had provided a backlight for Takara! He cast a long shadow, reaching down into the depths. Right onto the back of the fleeing drill. It was getting away... This was its element after all. And the loose sand was crumbling after it, making for... A rather awkward situation. Fortunately, a good Treasure Hunter always has a way out. No sand would bury this one today!
His Xros Loader flashed once more. A shame he couldn't just fuse Hagurumon with the drill. The fact that it had to -agree- to join him was rather inconvenient. Oh well. Takara had no expectations of the drill refusing him- He was too stubborn to acknowledge the possibility of such a thing. But first he had to catch up to it. Or better yet, stop it from fleeing! But, well, that wouldn't be difficult.
Hagurumon glowed slightly, then vanished back into his storage chip. "Digimemory, Slot in! Execute! Whamon!" He didn't even have time to fall to the ground after the Digimon he stood on disappeared!
Beneath all four, something appeared. Something big. Something far more solid than the sand. The displacement was, shall we say, explosive- Leaving the drill, at the least, very confused about what just happened. After all, he had been underground- What was the sun doing there!? "Wha... What just happened!" "Wha... What just happened!" Okay, so Whamon was confused too. No matter. "Oww! Hey, stop that!"
The drill, confused, had followed its first instinct- Dig. Into the whale's head. As expected, it hurt. And didn't work very well- Whamon's blubber was rather thicker than sand or dirt. One might think that the drill's inability to cut through it would make Takara less keen on the critter- But he was far more stubborn than that. "You! Join me!" he called out, striding across the beast's back.
"Wha...?" The drill was clearly confused. It was obvious. "Join me!" Takara called, in a commanding manner. The drill was disoriented, confused, and above all- The drill was naive. "O-Okay." it said, still trying to figure out what Takara meant.
And with that its fate was sealed.

Marshal and Lynxmon looked on in amazement as the boy summoned a Whamon out of the strange device he held and pinned the Drimogemon down to the ground.
"Well, I guess we weren't needed here," Lynxmon concluded, his eyes open in shock and awe. "I guess we could just head home, huh?"
"I suppose," Marshal muttered. Lynxmon leapt up to get them out of the cave as Marshal held on tight. "I still don't get why that guy would ask for my help then just completely forget about us like that," he mused as the two of them made their way back to Terminus City.
"Do you think we'll ever run into him again?" Lynxmon asked. "I'd really like to learn more about these Xros Generals."
"Stranger things have definitely happened," Marshal reminded him. The two of them rode off into the sunset, still thinking about the boy who hadn't even told them his name.
