Well then. This certainly wasn't really the entrance the two digimon were expecting.
Veemon and Guilmon, a pair of reptilian twins who had until this moment lived in the civilization upon the great land turtle ElDoradimon's back, were told that to enter the world below, all they had to do was slide down the giant digimon's tail and they'd land upon the world below, ready to start off with finding their fortunes.
After all, this was what their father figure Strikedramon had envisioned for them. Unfortunately, the 'slide' led them to a large tranquil lake in the middle of the refurbished Network Plains. Veemon, who couldn't swim a stroke promptly began his dramatic drowning routine, until his Guilmon brother rescued him and brought him to the bank.
Following that, the twin dragon digimon decided to see what sort of word was out here for them.
"Okay, we gotta watch out for humans" Veemon said, coughing up water a little.
"But... why though?" Guilmon asked, tilting his head at his older brother's words. "I mean, the humans haven't really hurt anyone we know, right?"
"Well..." Veemon opened his mouth, then closed it. That was a good point. "We just gotta keep vigilant, okay?" he said instead.
"Okay!" Guilmon agreed on this. And so the two of them climbed up the grass-covered hill, finding themselves on a small crest upon the vast plains.
"There it is! Terminus City!" Veemon announced, pointing to a large cluster of grey structures in the distance.
"Yay!" Guilmon cheered, clapping his paws, then hesitated. "Wait, what's so great about that?"
"Well my dear brother, it's where we'll find our fortune of course!" Veemon announced. "Come on! We wanna get there before nightfall!"
Even though it was currently the morning and they'd obviously get to Terminus in a couple of hours, Guilmon decided to humor his brother. "Okay then!" he said, and followed the blue dragon. He wondered if there was anyone else in the area?

A youthful Bearmon with zen expression plastered on his face strolled around the network rail plains... actually, semi dancing semi walking. His size is definitely bigger than any Bearmon, so is his tummy size. The said Bearmon is humming while at times popping some honey coated popcorn to his mouth. His partner is currently not present. From what he heard, he's having problem in real world. Test or something, he had no idea what test exactly, but sounds headache inducing.
He continued his routine when he spotted two Digimons, wet and seem to be heading to Terminus. Oh boy. The bear lowered down his backpack and took two medium sized dry towels. Just in case that it's not water but sweats instead, the bear took two water bottles.
"Ahoy, mates!" hastening his step, the Bearmon approached the two Digimons. "Alright there?" Hopefully they won't take him approaching them as hostile, especially with how silly he looked while carrying the two water bottles (complete with straw) and towels. He offered the towels to them and at the same time the water bottle just in case.
"Looks slightly wet there. What happened?" he asked curiously.

Roy and Rex immediately turned to see a digimon approaching. They saw he was a Bearmon - a particularly large one in fact. Bigger than Rex even?
"Ahoy?" Rex repeated, tilting his head. "You're close, his name's Roy, not Ahoy" he grinned.
"It's a word meaning 'hey there', Rex" Roy explained quickly. The Bearmon seemed to be friendly, so he didn't challenge him as he approached. Immediately he offered to share his towels, saying that they looked a bit wet.
"Well we were making a dramatic entrance to the world below and we ended up in a lake" Rex said, blabbing right away, much to Roy's horror. "Roy can't swim for some reason so I had to save him!" he was particularly proud of this.
"Yeah, let's just share all our secrets with a stranger we just met" Roy muttered sarcastically.
"Okay then!" Rex said, not picking up on the sarcasm, then turned to the Bearmon. "Also Roy likes listening to J-pop and this human called the Gaga Lady and-"
"Rex! Stahp!" Roy pleaded. He had forgotten he should not be sarcastic with his brother. Well, he was thankful for the towel at least. This Bearmon guy was alright. "Thanks for this, pal" he said, drying himself off. "My name's Roy and this is my brother Rex. Do you have a name?" he asked curiously, remembering not all digimon from ElDoradimon approved of the ideas of naming themselves like the humans do.

Ah? Gryz nearly staggered from the sudden correction, but kept being polite by keeping his zen face on. However, as it goes on, the Bearmon only can grin nervously. The Guilmon doesn't have a break and seem to be like an excited kid, more younger than Tetsu. He luckily didn't said anything... not that he want to break the excitement of such a cute little kid, but man, talk about sudden information dump. While he looked nervous, he didn't let go the fact that they said "lower world". What, did they came from Luminas or something?
"Gryz, at your service, friends," the Bearmon answered. "I'm just a normal if not..." he pat his tummy "slightly obese Bearmon. Are you heading somewhere? If you're fine with me, I can lead you there."
Again, friendly grin floated on his face. He hoped that this would calm the two down. It felt like they're being a bit too secretive... eh, correction, Rex doesn't. Roy do though. But whatever the case was, Gryz doesn't mean any harm. It's hard if you're a Digimon trying to make people believe that you don't mean harm... because you don't even need weapon. Your entire being itself is a weapon. So at least he only could smile and show his dorky zen face in hope they would understand that he means no harm.
"So while it's a bit too late, are you guys from Luminas?"

Ah, so the Bearmon's name was Gryz? That was cool. "Ooh! Can you evolve into a Gryzmon then?" Rex asked, eagerly. Yeah, he was smart enough to know the natural Adult form of Bearmons.
Roy meanwhile nodded. "Yeah, we're just heading to the nearest place of civilization... I take it that's it?" he pointed to Terminus City. "That'd be great if you could tell us a bit about it. We don't know much about the world below..."
Both of the dragon brothers felt somewhat reassured by Gryz's calm face and friendly demeanor. Rex decided that he liked Gryz and wanted to be friends with him. Roy meanwhile lowered his guard as he was sure that they'd be safe around him. Besides, that expression on his face was kinda cute.
"Luminas?" Roy repeated. "Nope, we're digimon from the back of ElDoradimon" he said, proudly.
"Didn't you see the big guy around?" Rex asked, tilting his head. "Huh. Maybe digimon that aren't from him can't see him?"
That was the theory at least. ElDoradimon was pretty elusive these days. Hmm... Elusive, that was a word that Roy wanted to use more often.
"Ooh, have you been to Luminas before?" Rex suddenly asked, eager for stories while they began to walk toward Terminus.

"Currently not," Gryz answered. "I'm not in condition to, nor I have any reason to at the moment... I'm waiting for a certain person, see... And yes, mates, that's Terminus, the main hub of most Digital World. You go there if you want to go places to places, or overall just want to go to place where you can meet human. If there are skirmishes in Terminus, Knightmons will appear to apprehend the criminals."
Not from Luminas but from El Doradimon? Oh dear. This means they're not in the best relationship with human, then? However, Gryz will not hide that he's partnered with human. There's no need to. Humans can be evil, but so can Digimon. Isn't it silly how people would let bigotry consumes them? Then again, he's no one to talk. "No, I never been there, nor I see the big turtle sadly. I was too... preoccupied with myself, to be honest," he grinned sheepishly. "When you just dance and sing to yourself, at times you forgot to look at something so big..."
...But he made it a common sense to not bring that he's a human partner unless asked.

He couldn't digivolve? "Ah, that's okay, we can't either" Rex said. "Although I don't think we have to wait for anyone do we, Roy?" he asked his brother.
"Nope, we'll just evolve when we're ready" Roy said, shrugging. So, Terminus was the hub of the lower world, eh?
"Ooh, then they'd have lots of cafe's and food there wouldn't they?" Rex asked eagerly. But if there were skirmishes, Knightmons would appear?
"I see. Yeah, that's how it works on El Doradimon too" Roy said. "You don't wanna cause trouble up there..."
"Yep!" Rex said, continuing the quick back-and-forth he and his brother had become used to using. "Once Roy got caught taking some bread without paying for it and he got the spanking of a lifetime! His butt was almost as red as me when it was over..."
"Again! Why do you tell people these things?!" Roy complained, his tail swishing with annoyance.
So Gryz hadn't seen El Doradimon? "Ah, that's okay. He's really nice though, I talked to him once" Rex said, ignoring Roy's objections. "He said that he wished the digimon that lived on him wouldn't be so mean to humans".
"Yeah... I kinda want to meet a human" Roy added, this change of subject distracting him. "Some of them seem really cool, but not the bad ones" he shuddered as he remembered the stories of the evil ones.

Gryz of course didn't have any reason to correct them, but he wondered if the small comment slipped them that he meant that he's partnered? "They do have cafes and many more. When it comes to Terminus, food and everything are available... granted, if you have money. I don't know how the pricing goes in El Doradimon, but Terminus got anything from the ritz to the more affordable ones. Sadly I'm not exactly a rich bear."
Rather than not wanting to cause any sort of problem in that place, Gryz swore that he doesn't even want to poke that thing with three kilometers long pole. He just grinned awkwardly at that remark. Yeah, don't bring harm to the kid. Tetsu shouldn't go there at any case.
"...Hm interesting to know that the turtle himself is fine with human. Thought he also anti human..."
Then, he raised an eyebrow at them. "...You guys from there yet you want to meet humans?" For this time around, Gryz half opened his eyes instead of making his usual zen face. "...Why is that?"

Yes, Roy was savvy enough from Gryz's comment that he required the help of someone to evolve made him at least open to the possibility that Gryz was a partnered digimon. However, the Veemon was not at all hostile to humans. And so he didn't want to make him feel threatened by pressing the matter further, especially considering the reputation of digimon from El Doradimon.
Rex meanwhile was in more of a disappointed state of mind, since it seemed that in Terminus, money mattered. "Aww, okay" he said. "In El Doradimon, everyone gets rations no matter how much money they have, although the food isn't very good most of the time..." he clutched his white belly for a moment as he remembered the last meal up there. He could have sworn there was sawdust in the bread he got. If not, it was incredibly bad quality regardless.
Rex nodded as Gryz said his musings. "Yeah, well, El Doradimon isn't really all on board with the humans exactly, but, I guess he just wants to kind of understand more?" he asked. "I mean, he's not gonna let humans wander in exactly, but, he wants to learn more about what they mean for the world? And he kind of resents the fact that he's not going to get the answers he wants while there's zealous digimon living on his back that want to sacrifice any human they see".
"Yeah, that's kind of a ridiculous thing we don't agree with" Roy added.
Gryz then asked why they wanted to see humans, his facial expression changing somewhat. This surprised Rex and Roy a little, but, Roy found the opportunity to reply first.
"Well... I guess because we want to know the truth of why they're here?" he asked. "I mean... we hear so many stories of how the world below is changing because of humans arriving. I don't really want to live in wilful ignorance of it, I just, well, kinda want to understand why they're here?" he prodded his fingers together. "I mean, I don't feel any hostility toward them or anything..."
Rex nodded in agreement. On this case, he agreed with his brother.

As tempting it is to pull a message box saying "Gryz is delighted with your honest answer", the bear instead settled with changing his expression back to a calmer one, one that is as friendly as before if not more friendlier. "I see, an action that should beary well praised indeed."
However, instead moving forward, Gryz sat on his butt, smiling at them. "If you really want to meet a human, let's wait here. Terminus is upon sight, but I'm afraid that if you get inside at this moment, you'll most likely get overwhelmed. So why don't we get you two used to them first? Especially since the train track is here... he will appear in around twenty minutes... my partner, that is.
While we're waiting, why don't you ask anything you want to know about a human? Granted, I don't know how much you're going to trust a partnered Digimon when it comes to human interaction, especially because I heard that El Doradimon inhabitants are told that humans enslaved their partner and force them to their bidding. However, I don't think it's true the slightest... well, there might be some that did, but me and my partner... it's not like that.
His name is Tetsu... he's still a very young kid... he's a really strong kid for a human standard though... His mouth is a bit rude at times, but he meant well. He cares about Digimon a lot, and seem really eager to help. He's always active... if only he's here instead of me, he'd probably already dashed to you first before me. He's a cinnamon roll that I don't want to expose to Digital World's cruelty... but I guess I wasn't good enough..." on the last word, Gryz looked a bit sad.

Ah, so Gryz really had a partner? Roy nodded, while Rex seemed surprised.
"Whaat? You have a human partner?" the Guilmon asked, yellow eyes widening. "Oh gosh, I didn't know! Are they nice? They don't shoot lasers from their eyes do they?" he tilted his head. It seemed that Rex had a somewhat strange idea as to how humans would appear.
Then Gryz sat down and said that if they wanted to see a human they could simply wait. "Oh, right. Does your partner know where to find you?" Roy asked, interested.
That humans enslaved their partners and forced them to do their bidding? "Well... yeah, we've heard about that, but we really don't believe it" Roy said, shaking his head. "I mean, this 'partnership' thing you have going on, that humans help you evolve with their digivices... heck, that sounds like a good deal. And if humans are as intelligent and friendly as us digimon, well, if you really are a partner then that's a pretty good deal in my books" he grinned.
"Uh, yeah, what he said" Rex said. "So... these humans... they don't really turn a country of their own kind into mouthbreathing idiots do they?"
Roy sighed, patting his brother's back. These questions may seem silly, but, a lot of stories had floated around on El Doradimon and Rex for one was determined to find the truth of them. "Ah, so his name's Tetsu, right?" the Veemon asked.
So this Tetsu seemed like a pretty neat guy. But... something in their adventures made Gryz sad. "Why? What happened?" Rex asked, eager to get to the bottom of this.

"...Er, no, they don't. He's nice, but human doesn't shoot lasers from their eyes, you know." Did the rumor in El Doradimon happened to be rather blown out of proportion? He wanted to laugh, but hearing how serious Rex is, he just kept it to himself. Roy's question however is much better for the Bearmon. "Yeah, he does. That's why we're waiting here."
Hmmm, so they at least understood a bit about this partnership. "...Indeed, but there's another matter. We are dependent on our partner. Which means, we can't evolve without their presence. I'm fine with it, but lot of Digimons seem to feel that this limiting potential of the Digimon. Well, it's fine though! I don't mind. Partnership means you got to guide someone, protect someone... we partnered Digimon are not slaves, because our partner also need us. Also, human can be... probably as smart as an Adult stage. They learn faster too."
...and somehow Rex have to bring another silly question.
"...Mouthbreathing... idiots?" Gryz parroted. All he can think of is Donald Trump opening his mouth wide and spouting off as many mouth as possible from there.
"............Errr, nah, don't think so."
He nodded at Roy's question, and then Rex asked again, this time luckily less awkward than before. "....We met a Tsukaimon... who apparently revel in the thought of killing him. Tetsu... Tetsu saw for the first time how detestable a Digimon can be. He told me that the Tsukaimon was hellbent in torturing human, and Tetsu was about to get killed when I left him alone to look for firewood. Back then, we're in the tundra..."

"Oh..." Rex put a claw to his mouth. "Hmm. I think someone was telling porky fibs then, right, Roy?"
"Yeah... they can get a bit ridiculous with the stories up there" Roy said, chuckling a little. "That's why we wanna see the truth".
Gryz's speech on partnership was interesting too. Although, the Veemon was curious about this 'dependency'. His and Rex's mentor, a Strikedramon, while not listening to the sillier rumours, did think that it was a negative thing to have so many digimon lose their independence and devote themselves to humans. While of course Roy had no beef with them, he could see it as a problem if too many of these partnerships happened.
"Okay!" Rex said, not minding that his other theory on humans was shot down. But then Gryz told the tale of being attacked by a Tsukaimon, who seemed to want to kill Tetsu while Gryz left him alone. "Oh gosh that's horrible!" the Guilmon exclaimed, eyes widening.
"Yeah, what a rotten digimon!" Roy agreed, nodding fervently. So this was why Gryz was careful about his status as a partner digimon. "Well, we certainly would never do that to a human".

Micah sighed for the up tenth time, she had gotten on a terminal train to reach the tropical areas of the digital world, because she had decided that they all deserved a break from school and digital crisis. however things haven't been going well so far, first of all apparently they had gotten on the wrong trailmon. Not that it was an easy mistake to make, after all the trailmon really didn't have any signs of their routes, and the trailmon she had tried to speak to was in a bad mood so here she was now.
She sighed once again, her feet were starting to hurt after so much walking, maybe she shouldn't have worn sandals until she got to the beach. Next to her a shoutmon and starmons were marching not showing any sighs of exhaustion. Micah faintly wandered were red and the starmons got their energy from, even if they were her digimon partners and has known then for over a year there were still somethings that remained a mystery to her.
It was then that the shoutmon twirled his mic like a baton, and as if sensing his generals distress he turned to her and smiled "ey don't worry im sure if we find someone they could point us to the right direction" he said with a odd Brooklyn accent. Micah smiled, red always knew what to say. So with renewed vigor she continued on. It was a while before Micah spotted three digimon talking to each other, she smiled happy that they finally found someone. With a tired huff she ran over to them, her digimon following her closely.
Once she was close enough she spoke "h-hello sorry to bother you but may I ask a quick question?" she asked shyly.

"Porky fibs or not, certainly it's slightly amusing," Gryz commented, chuckling. However, thinking to tease the boys a bit, he mischievously added "I never heard of any of the case where human shot laser from their eyes, though... But I've seen Tetsu shot energy from his palms.
After giving them a teasing smirk to give them a clue that he's both joking and not, Gryz flopped once again on his butt. "That's aside, that's really good, boys. Don't attack unless you're attacked. Humans can be good, and can be bad. But don't think that all humans are bad. If you do that, you'll lose allies. I told that to Tetsu too... that he shouldn't be biased. Digimons are like human, human are like Digimon. The thing that we share is about feelings. We share the feeling of wanting to get stronger, albeit human doesn't necessarily have that to the same degree as us. We also share love, friendship and bonds. Human are closer than Digimon than you think in term of feeling. These weaker creatures called human, day by day, they learn, they struggle, they compete with one another to be successful, I think that's admirable. That's why I think there's no negative in being partnered with one. I'm happy to."
Their little talk suddenly got interrupted. Gryz turned around to find a human and a... Shoutmon? He tilted his head in wonder.
"...Hmn? Are you lost, Missy? Going to Terminus perhaps?"
