Waking up someplace new wasn't entirely all bad. While most people would be scared she was a bit more curious as to why she was in a very hot ruin. A broken pillar jutted against the sky as she looked up. Finally deciding laying there was doing her no good she sat up and eventually stood.
She had been cornered by some guys looking for 'fun.' She kicked one and escaped rushing without looking there was no way she could have ended up in a desert though. Mainly cause Japan doesn't have them. Maybe they killed her? This wasn't exactly a heaven or hell thing though.
She looked around her feet and found her bag just a few inches away. She dusted herself of the sand as much as she could and then stepped over and grabbed it. Nothing would get done just standing there wondering about it. She doubted this place had any inhabitants so her best bet was to brave the desert.
The question was which direction? She began wandering the ruins peering out into the expanse to see if there were any signs of which way to go. A plane tower or phone tower would be pretty easy to spot. She doubted any electrical lines though. She startled when she heard a noise among the rocks.
Peering under one she expected a mouse only to see a missile. One that was pulsing up and down with a bright red eye that opened more as it noticed her. Was she perhaps in a war zone? If so pulsing missiles were very dangerous. Though that fact didn't have her running.
"Why you here," the missile spoke.
Curiosity outweighed logic as she reached in and pulled him out. Why was there a human here, was his only thought as he was brought to her chest. The human holding him like he was a kitten or pup.
He didn't bother protesting. He was tired after being run from town for being a nightmare soldier. Everyone said he'd start trouble but in the end, they started it, blamed him and his own words fell on deaf ears. Sometimes he just wanted to return to the dark area but everyone there was so cruel.
Maybe it was thirsty. It wasn't pulsing she guessed since it spoke but breathing instead. It gave a whole new meaning to the term biological warfare that was for sure. She reached down shifting through her bag and bringing out a lukewarm bottle.
He was jostled a bit as she opened the bottle and he eyed it carefully before looking up at her. Strange human child indeed but he wasn't about to say no. She held it to his lips and he sipped at it grateful for something to wet his insides.
"You still haven't answered," he said as she capped the bottle again.
He was right she hadn't. It took her a moment but she pulled out a large notepad with a pen stuffed in it. She wrote in response, "I don't know. I just woke up here."
He was confused at first. Why did she write her response rather than just say it? As though knowing his confusion she flipped to the first page. A prewritten response already there.
"I am a mute," it read and made sense to the digimon.
"Mute,"he repeated frowning. "And you don't know why you are here either?" She shook her head in response. "Well its not good for you to be someplace so dangerous. Heatstroke, dehydration and a bunch of other things could kill you."
She didn't look scared to him. Nor was she freaking out like he assumed most girls would. He had half a mind to ask about her partner then remembered she said she woke up here. Could it be their fates were destined to cross? It would make sense no one really came out here anymore. So out of all the places for her to appear it had to be now and near him.
"It seems I am your partner," he had no idea what to do with his deduction. "I will protect you and lead you to town." The idea of going back an unpleasant one but they couldn't stay here. He could lead her back and hide in her satchel.
Well that would answer her question of which way to go. She smiled at him and wrote down, "Okay." She had no idea what he meant by partner but that would mean he'd stay by her side and that was good enough for her. Since she was completely lost at the moment.
She closed her bag and shouldered it suddenly remembering her Hang. She ran back over to where she had a appeared and looked around. There behind the pillar was her drum. She grabbed it gratefully all the while the digimon looking at her strangely just getting a smile in response.
Notepad in one hand pen in the other and him laying along her forearm. Her traveling stuff and music instrument returned to her back. It felt kind of right as she began walking where he pointed.
"Since we are partners I suppose we should introduce ourselves. I'm Ryoko, it means trippy apparently," Ryoko said not particularly caring for the name.
She flipped through the notepad to the third page. There her name was written with a little-drawn flower border. Underneath it the words, "Just call me Hana."
"Nice to meet you, Hana. White Flower, a very pretty name,"he responded also thinking it kind of fitted a bit. She seemed kind of pure to him. "It's a decent walk I hope you are prepared he said as they topped the first dune."
She gave a thumbs up in response. She walked everywhere as is but that wasn't in such an extreme condition as this. She did mentally think that his warning was a good probability. It didn't scare her though nothing did if she died then oh well. She had at least lived the life she wanted.
They began walking through the desert.
