Job Description
There were many pleasure known to humans and digimons alike that managed to bring great joy despite their simplicity. And what could possibly be more satisfying, delightful and of course tasty than a wholesome, square meal after a hard day of manual and intellectual labor? Cion had not forgotten that the workers she had hired were people with their own souls, bodies and their needs, and she would certainly not break her promise of free board she had made on the website she had set up to hire the employees currently craving nourishment.
With 2 long rows of wooden tables and benches placed on a remote, flat piece of earth, the laborer of low and high ranks alike anticipated the beginning of the upcoming, guaranteed feast. The Arniomon meanwhile was thankful that her partner Vertigo had arrived in time with the cargo of boxed ingredients - sponsored by PROFIT. And although her outdoors kitchen was rather primitive, more akin to an open BBQ, it sufficed for the easy yet delicious and healthy dishes she intended to cook in large quantities. Thankfully, the construction site's benefactors had provided her that and appropriate kitchenware.
Leek Soup: Simple yet irresistible. Cause vegetable stock to boil and add as much minced meat and leek into it as possible. Season the mix with salt, pepper, nutmeg, onions and garlic, add a few drops of oil and let huge chunks of crème fraîche and soft cheese melt until they become a thin, hearty layer covering the top of the stew. There ain't a better appetizer, especially when combined with steaming slices of ciabatta.
Au Gratin Pasta: Even easier to produce! Utilize a big, ceramic casserole and fill it with fusilli, chopped boiled ham and seared slices of mushrooms. Cover everything with spiced bechamel sauce, put plenty of cheese on top of it and put it into the oven until it has developed a golden crust. Savory meets hearty!
Minestrone: Definitely the healthiest dish of today's menu, but certainly not the hardest to prepare. Simply hash onions, garlic, celery, carrots, potatoes, beans, zucchini and tomatoes, let them boil in vegetable stock, add alphabet noodles and diced bacon and wait until everything looks ready to be eaten. Nutritious and exquisite.
Oven Chicken: This one requires a bit more finesse than the others, but on the other hand the amount of ingredients needed is minimal. Cut tomatoes into thick slices and cover the bottom of a casserole. Gently roast the poultry until it it shimmers like toast and put it above the tomatoes. Cut mozzarella into thick pieces and add them wherever there is space left between the pieces of chicken. Put it inside the oven and wait until the white cheese has developed a crust. Together with the natural sauce that emerged due to the process this main course is staggeringly flavorful.
Plain Fare Steak: Oh yes - this chunk of meat in particular is the cause for many conflicts. Raw or chewy, beef or flank? Thankfully, there was solution Cion had come up with that solved every issue. Sear both sides of the steak inside a pan with a layer of oil, add slices of mushrooms, onions and a stroke of herb butter - and simply put the creation into the oven for half an hour. It will be both well-done and incredibly juicy; that's a promise.
With everything prepared ahead of time, the silver fennec utilized her force of will to levitate the dozens of filled plates to the group of starving digimon. Making sure that everyone had access to whatever they craved, the dishes landed safely on the wooden tables, causing Cion to voice a sigh of relief. "Well then... dig in!" She vociferously and happily inaugurate the buffet, an invitation that was not required to be uttered twice.
Among the aromatic scents it were the murrs of content clients that put a toothy smile of pride on her muzzle. To her surprise, it turned into a wide grin upon receiving a prompt to join the workers. She did not know if she had deserved a place among their ranks considering how little she had contributed to the efforts of creating Rosewood, but far was it from her to refuse benevolence and charming company.
