"Nono, not that one. I've gone over that part about six times already."
The large dragon man scratched his head, they were currently sitting cross legged in the midst of a bunch of parts to this high tier engine some digimon had dropped off asking him to do a complete maintenance check for sale purposes.
So here he was, in the middle of a bunch of parts; looking at items he didn't even recognize much less knew existed and trying to figure out what on earth they were. Searches on the computer he got from an andromon weren't helping and the few manuals he had only had the most basic of parts for them.
With a grunt the spirit user reached over for the last book that he had. He had spent a lot of money getting as many manuals, information booklets and new equipment for his shop in whitewater extremes. Because of his lack of proof of business along with some other problems he wasn't able to set up in the city proper.
He was fairly glad that he was forced out here because the response the group of guards had when they sensed his power upon transformation was far less than what he expected. They knocked on his door and didn't expect the large dragon man to answer peacefully. He answered their questions and promptly went back to work fifteen or so minutes later.
The bottom floor was made for larger sizes like he had asked, and the second floor was more for his human size. That didn't stop him from having a multi-tier shop though. He could thankfully sell, repair and do everything from the 'garage' that he had set up now. Considering the somewhat human look of this building he hoped that he could get other humans to recognize where he came from and would be more partial to working with him while digimon would learn to get more comfortable with human structuring....
"Wrench."
"Third Tentacle."
"Right right. What's this do?"
"I think it's A regulator; look at those dials that are attached to the wiring that comes from it."
"Speed gauge too?"
"Second from the left..."
He usually got really into his work; but with the digital world and how it seemed to leave those with power alone... Not many were going to come out here and just chat him up. They'd come here for a purpose. His Open sign was always turned on.
"You decide on a name yet?"
"No..."

Well, this seemed convenient enough.
After a trip through Rustport and the purchase of a rather high-tech piece of equipment, Luke knew that he was going to need a central place to have the vehicle maintained and serviced. With their central position being around Whitewater, that greatly reduced their options: unlike Rustport or even Terminus, the city was simply so dense that there just wasn't any place within the city proper to have the vehicle looked over.
Thankfully, they had caught word of a place just outside - a shop, that simply had an open sign and no real name.
"You... sure this is real?" Tilting his head at the strange sight, Luke glanced towards the wolf, who returned a similarly confused shrug. "Really, your guess is as good as mine."
Well, it wasn't as if they couldn't simply turn around and leave if things went sour, right? Taking a step in - whatever bell was at the door going off, if any - Luke would simply take a look inside. "... Hello?"

Kan was working quite well on this piece of equipment once he figured out what made it tick. Sure the pieces were all strange and a few of them he had to take them apart a few times to figure out how they worked but overall he was making progress. So much so he didn't notice the proximity alarm of someone coming up until the bell rang of someone entering. Blinking a bit he'd set down the tools he had in 'hand' and stand up slowly. This room was good for him to stand up at full height thanks to the way it was built, along with the next one over. Sure it made the ceiling seem much more vaulted than it needed to be but who cared?
Pushing open the door that separated the two while wiping off some oil that had got onto his hands he'd peer towards the entry where he could see a human. Giving a sharp grin he'd motion for them to come inside.
"Come in, come in. Can I help you? Looking for equipment? Repairs?"
The dragon man stepped fully into the room, still gesturing with a few tentacles for them to come in while he moved towards the counter. Figuring that they would likely either run in fear or come in unaffected. He never really got anything in the middle.
"Getting stuff still set up, but I've got only one project on my plate right now. Don't spose the folks in whitewater sent you here?"
He'd pause after a few moments and rubbed the back of his neck before glancing at the two. Honestly ever since coming to the digital world his business etiquette had taken a turn for the worse as most digimon down here didn't seem to care for it past names or something.
"Erm.. I'm kan, this is L-mon and Uh. This is my shop."

Well. That definitely wasn't the mechanic that Luke nor Iko expected.
A machine type of that size might have made sense - or something closer to human or 'vehicle' height, equipped for the job. But to suddenly see a twenty-foot-something-tall demon... dragon... thing? That definitely made Luke take a second look, as Iko managed to give a chuckle.
"Sorry, give him a minute." Iko led the two to the counter, giving a small elbow to Luke's side - enough to snap him back to attention. "Well, Luke, what are you here for?"
"Um... oh, right." Sheesh, his own partner used those same sorts of abilities, why was he thrown off by that? Luke shook his head: "Well, nothing like a specific repair - hopefully, anyway. I picked up a new vehicle over in Rustport, and I was hoping you could run diagnostics?" He gave a shrug: "In the end we're looking for a nice central point to return for vehicle repairs. It just helps if someone knows the vehicle from the ground up and has a history with it first, I guess?"
He had customized it heavily, after all. At the introductions, Iko returned a small nod. "I'm Iko; he's Luke. Though if you don't mind me saying..."
"... Kan's a pretty... 'human' name, isn't it?"

Kan rubbed the back of his neck and found himself frowning after a few long moments. Once they were back to the counter he'd place the rag he used to wipe his hands off on it before pulling out some of the equipment from underneath it. Several different bundles existed, and each would help him in a different way.
"No fret."
The man tapped the glass and then dipped his head in a small nod as the wolf gave their partner a elbow to the side. The molten orange eyes sliding to the human as they started to explain what they wanted. It turned out to be pretty simple; a diagnostic he could do. He'd likely just have to set up the station for that and get things started.
"Diagnostics I can do, depending on the complexity of the vehicle it can take anywhere from an hour or two to a full day."
The dragon like spirit shifted it's eyes from one to the other as Iko introduced them both. Brow furrowing slightly as one finished the other's sentence. Or question in this regard. With a small somewhat frustrated sigh he'd raise his hands up just a little bit. The form shifted, changed and rapidly he was replaced with a human that was still rather tall. At a six foot five sort; it took an additional three or four seconds before his eyes of all things went back to the 'usual' ones he had.
"you got me there, it's easier to do work in that form. I don't struggle with lifting things and the 'extra' hands help a lot."
The man rubbed the back of his neck again; feeling somewhat sore.
"Part of the reason I haven't put up a sign yet is because I don't know what sort of shop I'm trying to push yet."
"Not to mention he hasn't figured out a name..."
"Tch.. that too."

Alright, so this was the right place! Luke gave a nod as Kan gave an affirmative answer - even if it didn't look like it from the outside, this was definitely a place to service vehicles. "Alright, fair enough. Its coded into my Digivice for now, but what you'll be looking at is a hoverbike I picked up from Rustport."
"Tricked out - and a lot of parts to it." Which meant there were a lot of components that could be broken, if not properly serviced or inspected. But that thought slipped off to the back, as Kan shrunk back down to a more human height. A spirit wielder... but heck, even Kan's base stature still held a bit of resemblance to that dragon!
"Well, you hold it rather well. A lot of spirit users have quite a bit of trouble controlling something that high up." Crossing his arms, Iko gave a nod, as Luke shook his head. "Of course you'd kick right off with him."
Aside from that, and an idle comment about the sign, Luke would give a nod back towards Kan. "Well, anyway, I guess we should make our way back to the garage, or something? Unless I need to set up an appointment?"

"Good way of keeping it close at hand."
The man mumbled and scratched at one of his cheeks; feeling somewhat out of sorts. He was getting more and more comfortable being in his spirit forms; but perhaps that just had to do with the fact he was spending so much time in the digital world? Well hopefully he'd get used to that too.
"Even with a lot of parts and it being customized it'll take only a few hours extra if it's something I'm normally used to working with. But I don't really expect it to be a problem."
The man chuckled softly and leaned on the counter.
"I've been doing this spirit user business for the last decade, so I've gotten used to dealing with the spirits I have."
The man scratched at his head; ultimately the spirit wanted nothing but to be around and included with stuff that kan did. So it made it a breeze to work with in comparison to the other spirits he had to make deals with to get anything started. The man turned his head and gave Luke a curious look at the mention of 'kicking it off' with the shopkeep. Though the query luke posed only made the man laugh softly.
"yeah go ahead and come in, let me find my equipment for diagnostics. Set it up next to the furthest wall and.. uh. Mind the parts."
The shopkeep chuckled and moved to go start pulling out the bundles of equipment for specifically that purpose. After all he had some stuff he could just scan the entire bike with... if he could find the damn thing.

Well, it seemed they had their expert. Luke wasn't a slouch when it came to vehicles, but he was far from someone who could build one from scratch: giving a nod to Kan, Luke would make his way on in, Iko following close behind as he tried to stay a good distance from the various parts and tools strewn about the place.
"Doesn't this look a bit like a dump?" Iko muttered, only for Luke to simply chuckle back: "Nah, it looks like a garage. Everything else can turn to crap, so long as the vehicle's sparkling at the end."
True enough? Iko didn't know much about it, but as they reached that open spot, Luke drew his Digivice. Holding it out, the wire-frame for the vehicle appeared first, scanning blue and then blinking green, confirming that the area was clear. It didn't take long after that for the vehicle itself to piece together and appear, and... hoo boy, this wasn't just a motorcycle.
Hover pads. A charge for an EMP pulse hidden on the right side, and a nitro tank on the left. A custom engine and frame, fitted to allow increased speed and handling, the essentials hidden under lightweight chrome Digizoid Armor. These were all the technical aspects hidden in this purple monster of a hoverbike, with customized exhaust in the back to match the 'purple fire' detail down the sides. Iko shook his head: "Never said you had to get a bike to match my style, sheesh."
"Oh, c'mon, give me this one. Its cool!"
Cool. Well, eye of the beholder, really!

Three or so bundles of equipment and a single case of what would be scanning equipment managed to surface thanks to how he packed things. With a small sigh the man would quickly shift back to the door carrying his 'gear'. He'd look around for a few moments, step from safe spot to safe spot of the 'dump' before setting all his equipment off to one side.
He'd quietly watch as Iko drew out the bike; his eyes widened a little bit as the vehicle manifested. Each part was immediately recognized, understood and the man felt himself actually shaking a little bit from excitement.
Hover pads. Nitro Tank, no doubt a custom engine, a custom frame, meant for speed and handling. What type of padding did this thing have? What other essentials did this beast rear?
Kan's excitement was obvious, so much so his spirit form took root and he shifted back to the massive dragon. Quickly getting the diagnostic equipment set up. His tentacles were a whirling mess; with occasionally a few of them would dart into the other room coming back with more bundles. Mumbling and muttering under his breath the 'man' would pause before gingerly tapping what looked to be a scanner of some sort with a gentleness not many could admit to seen from this massive being.
"Custom from head to toe, top of the line, Hover pads, No doubt modifications from head to toe. What sort of material is this? I don't recognize it. The coloration and design is aesthetically pleasing but not overbearing. It's gentle in it's own right and I can tell quite a lot of care was taken to pick everything out."
The dragon was hunched over as his tentacles were going all over the place, drawing out measurements of the bike along with gently attaching a few pads to the hoverpads themselves testing their rotation; frequency and strength.
"Twelve hours for a full diagnostic sweep, I'd like to take longer if you don't mind though. I feel like the engine and build of this bike are going to take some getting used to."
The man paused and then let out a sigh scratching his head. He spoke and another voice piped up, no doubts the spirit that he was taken form of.
"Though for something like this, I can't give a proper pricing as it's far more advanced than most of the bikes I've worked on in the last four or five years. But it's more of a treat to work on than anything."
"Ten thousand sounds about right for a full diagnostic."
"Five thousand yen was the normal pricing back home for more advanced stuff in the human world; and that was ussually a weekends worth of work."
"Five thousand then?"
"For something like this and people that are professional with that whole warranty bullshit they'd probably charge four of five times that."
"well you're not really a professional."
"That's why I don't know what to charge! But bright side of running this is the consistency this thing is going to need to come back into the shop for repairs or maintenance. Expensive and complicated means a lot of upkeep..."
Even during this entire self made conversation, his tentacles were busy at work his hands twisting knobs. Turning dials and connecting to ports for general scans. He let out a low whistle as some of the specs started coming to a computer that one tentacle was holding.
"Just how much did you spend on this? This thing is Decked out front to back..."
"Isn't that rude to ask?"

Well, it didn't take long to see the 'inner engineer' of Kan to come out. Almost as soon as that bike appeared, the spirit wielder's gaze was upon it - so much so that he forgot about the 'guise' of being human, and promptly switched back to what Iko and Luke were now suspecting to be his more comfortable form. Of course, the two stepped off to the side as Kan set up that diagnostic gear, questions and observations coming out at a mile a minute.
"Heh." Luke returned his own chuckle.: "As far as the frame goes, the metal's called "Skeleton Digizoid" - a Chrome Digizoid alloy. The sheer weight of the pure metal would cause it to flip out in a turn, so we had to make a compromise elsewhere. On the plus side, it was much easier to paint and gloss out." Design compliments aside - enough to make the wolf roll his eyes - it seemed like they were getting right down to business.
Only to be told such a long time estimate. "Twelve hours... you mean that's what it will take for the initial run through, right? Nothing over three makes sense unless you're taking it apart entirely." Luke gave a shrug, but ultimately, it was what it was. "Iko and I will be spending the day in Whitewater as it is, so we shouldn't have a problem over-nighting this."
That said, price wasn't exactly a manner they had thought up until now. 5,000? 10,000? 30,000? Who really knew just what it was going to cost on the front end! "I mean, I didn't come to start completely from scratch - I've got the manufacturer details here." Pulling out a folder - containing a copy of the files - he would offer them over to Kan. "And I'm sure the pricing's something we can work out - um..."
How much did the bike set him back? "Well. Keeping in mind we're working off discounts from the mission guild, the manufacturer, and pretty much every favor we could call in?"
"Two-hundred twenty thousand." Luke gave a sigh: "And for the quality of work on it, I was lucky to even negotiate it down that low."

The spirit user was a blur of activity, ranging from the tentacles, his mumbling, the actual hands and eventually even the tail started to pitch in here and there. The thing being is that he was doing so many things at once that his estimation would of been going off of his ultimate form which had neither the speed, the extra hands or the 'spirit on his shoulder'.
"Chrome Digizoid, an unexpected element. Malleable, easily workable and it hardens to insane levels when properly programmed. Skeleton digizoid? A chrome digizoid sub-type then? Lighter but harder, something akin to Titanium right? Well rather, similar to it not exactly like it."
The man mumbled a little bit and blinked a few times as luke seemed surprised at the twelve hours. He'd pause and look at the bike, realizing he was already blazing through the diagnostics.
"Erm... Twelve hours in my human form, Probably about six or seven in my ult..."
The dragon man sighed a little bit and rubbed his neck nervously as the tentacles went from a fulls top back to work.
"This form is actually more new to me, So I guess getting used to the extra hands and given time frames is going to take a bit. But realistically if I'm going at this rate erm..."
The man scratched his head and took a seat, his tail showing him the computer as the tentacle that had it originally handed it off and went about it's own business helping three others inspect, rotate, roll and confirm the hoverpad's general range of motion.
One tentacle quickly grabbed the folder and like that the papers would be spread among seven or eight of his tentacles while the dragon looked them over idly. Brow furrowing a little bit he'd tap some of the folders and set them aside.
"Two hours, I want to pull apart some of it to check certain spots. Regardless of who you bought it from there can be a tracker, a kill switch or several other things. Even if the bike itself is data primarily this wouldn't stop it from being installed."
"Sometimes with digital purchases like this it's hardwired into the coding, but he's got something that can scan for that somewhere."
The man continued to pour over the papers that he was given, reading them over while mumbling to himself. The tentacles fast at work; the man paused however when the pricing was brought up again. Thinking it over, considering the complexity and the time frame the dragon man waved a hand.
"You're looking for a general diagnostic. I'll provide that, so Twenty Five hundred. You'll be coming back a lot so I'll be able to get a more indepth one later."
"Two-hundred and Twenty Thousand huh? That's like almost four times the amount he spent on this place!"
"Friend of a friend needed this place out of his hands. Low price and saves me or him the trouble of other stuff."
The molten eyes switched from the folder's contents as they were quickly put back into the hosting paper and placed to the side to the pair. His hands were still going over some of the read outs he was given along with some specs he managed to pull up in the short amount of time.
"Go enjoy yourself in whitewater, come back at the very earliest two hours from now and I'll have you what you want."
"And probably some extra you didn't know you needed or wanted."
"Probably. See if I can pull up some recommendations on these hover pads, one of them isn't rotated right..."
Like that the man turend, doing a million things a minute, he was quickly joined by a pair of computers that his tentacles brought in from the other room making it three diagnostic computers, a swath of equipment meant to tie into the bike and anything in-between. There was very little in the way of true physical tools like screw drivers and the like as those were over by the car.
"And from what I can see you were very lucky to get this for that little... Engineering marvel this..."
"Isn't that sposed to be the other way? I think it's rotation is off, maybe something's sticking somewhere..."
"That's not supposed to rotate completely, it stops and bounces back, see?"
"ooooooh that's clever!"

"As far as I could gather when it was described to me, its like a 'bone made of metal'. Heated up enough and then carefully cooled to give it more of an airy structure. When it was cooling, it even had a bit of 'bounce' to it."
And no, that type of mold wasn't easy to replicate or replace! Still, that time estimate seemed to be quickly drifting away... twelve? Six? Two? Iko couldn't help but give a laugh at that! "If you're cutting it down that fast, then at least make sure all the pieces are still there at the start and the end!" Indeed, such a large form did make it potentially more possible for him to lose a screw or something somewhere - but if the focus was there, Kan would be both an efficient engineer and a terrifying opponent.
Still, Luke understood the concern: "Doubt its likely, but its good to check. Suffice to say, some crazy shit's happening in the Digital World - between the Spires, the D-Reaper, and whatever villain of the week, I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that someone's selling bad vehicles."
"Heck, it almost sounds too tame to happen." Iko returned that joke, and flicked his ear at that price. 2500? "Down so much? You sure-"
"Oh, just take it for now, Iko." The tamer grinned, putting a hand on his shoulder. "He'll be milking a lot more out of us than that the first time we need a fan or brake replaced." Alright, fair enough: the Ankomon returned a nod, and...
... Well... "A'ight. Guess I'll be back in three hours or something? Let's hit the pier."
"Hm." The wolf gave a nod, and the two would turn to leave - the rambling of their engineering talk fading to the background.

"Bone made of metal? That's... surprisingly simple. This must be a good answer to a lot of problems. Explains why it's so expensive and would make sense why it'd be difficult to work with."
The man continued to work even as he spoke to the others; it wasn't really difficult honestly. The surprising change into time only continued to lessen in the spirit's mind as the work continued; even as kan was paying a good bit of attention; the spirit was also doing their own hauling. After all they had spent several sleepless nights figuring out how things worked together.
"All the parts will be there."
The man frowned and scratched his horn; as Luke shared a little bit of information that 'crazy shit' was happening in the digital world. Spires? D-reaper and some kind of 'villain of the week' sort of mumbo jumbo. The dragon paused after a few moments and frowned further.
"I'm only aware of some kind of elemental orb corruption, and even then it's very basic. Spires? D-reapers? These are things I haven't heard of."
He'd shoot a look to the bike as his tentacles continued to work and the man felt somewhat guilty that he hadn't been keeping up with current events as they were. He'd hopefully be able to get more information from this duo. A loud beep from one of his computers grabbed his attention and the man was quickly back into it.
"I'm sure."
The man shook his head and got back into the bike as a whole. His mutterings continued and he barely registered the two leaving. He wasn't the sort that would milk them for all they were worth. He'd make sure that this bike was well taken care of as well as having someone that knew it inside and out.
The three hours were surprisingly fast to him, his constant range of motion and consistency of the diagnostics along with the bits or pieces that he mentioned earlier had easily been taken care of. Indeed there was a tracking program for the vehicle but it had something to do with the sales vendor itself. Likely for when it was still under their care; Kan was careful to remove that portion in case it could turn malicious. The tiny part wasn't really anything part of the main system itself past drawing the tiniest amount of energy from it.
No kill switch, no hidden agenda. No explosives or things like that; there was also no hard cap on speed as he could tell. He was somewhat worried about that but as the diagnostics continued to pour through the man was only able to get more and more into his work.
So much so that he found himself at the butt end of the three hours, dusting off his hands and shifting to the vast amount of print outs that he had from his printer. A lot of it was jargon that was meant to be for him, the very top page would be what Luke and Iko would want. A steady case of simple numbers matching up to absolute perfection to the specs he had been given at the start of this.
The only difference? Was a small .000001% drain of power from the tracking unit. Which wouldn't affect anything outrageously anyways; but that was enough to where it could matter if he had to push this thing to it's absolute limit. He was busy pouring over the papers while L-mon started to work on the car itself.
"What do you think?"
"I think we can't get settled in until we learn what's going on. I like this bike a lot and wouldn't mind working on it but the digital world itself seems like it could use a small hand from a small businessman."
"We should see what PROFIT knows too..."

Of course they trusted that all the parts would be there at the beginning and the end - but it seemed that Kan didn't know much that was going on beyond the walls of the garage. The D-Reaper was a bit of a sleeper, but Kan hadn't heard about the Dark Spires?
"Huh, that's been all through the news... guess you might have been caught up in other stuff, though." Iko gave a shrug. "But yeah, look into it at some point. Both are pretty crazy, at least as far as we can tell."
Aside from that? Iko and Luke gave a nod and made their exit, a few comfortable hours spent on the town. Really, aside from grabbing a quick bite for lunch, the two were more-or-less checking their bases: a quick run into the mission guild to see what simple jobs were up, a pass over that TV shop by the pier to check what was in the news, and a resupply run in the market would eat up most of their time. Just over three hours had passed when Luke and Iko would make their return, the sound of that printer scratching in the background.
Of course, they wouldn't just barge in - that same bell at the door would alert Kan that their customers had returned! If he'd come up, Luke would give a small wave, and simply ask:
"So, what's the detail?"

The man was pouring over the notes that the printer had given him still, making sure to keep the 'summary' as it was to the side so it wouldn't get lost in the mass of papers. His spirit half was still working on the car when he heard that bell at the door. Perking up he'd stop and move into the other room, wiping off his hands on a very similar rag to the one earlier, one of his tentacles holding the summary while a few others brought the computers with them.
"Welcome back. Everything is operating smoothly, like it should. There was a small tracking program installed in it but it was just for if the vehicle got stolen during the seller's care. Or program got stolen I guess? Depends on how they stored it. Regardless I removed that and the .000001% power drain that came along with it; so if you absolutely need to push this thing to it's limits you can. Everything is up to specs and how it should be. Keep an eye on the rotations of the hover pads; they're a newer sort of technology from my understanding so the smallest sort of shift or error in them could be really bad. Let me know if you have any issue with the rest of the vehicle; most of the diagnostics came through clear as day too."
The demonic dragon spirit leaned on the counter placing the summary down for Luke to read over. The three computers were set up in a line, giving more specs that he wouldn't need to see but if he understood them he'd know that kan was telling the truth.
"...about these D-reapers and Spires. I'd like to hear more. I didn't really keep up with current events while taking care of my shop in the human world before moving here so..."
There was a half apologetic shrug that sort of made his tentacles waggle uncontrollably for a few seconds before the demonic dragon placed a small pad to the side. The payment options were there and it seemed like the man had some free time to go over things if the two of them wanted.
