Tadayoshi was relaxing in his on-set trailer when a knock finally came to the door. Even though he'd been expecting a visitor, the knock made him jump, startled, and drop his copy of Twilight on the floor. "Ah- oh, um, sorry! Coming! Coming, sorry, uh..." The dischevelled boy looked in a makeup mirror and used it to straighten his hair (hardly needed, given how short it already was), adjust his collar, and take a deep breath the ease his nerves. Then he opened the trailer door. "I'm sorry! I, uh, am I late? I thought I wasn't expected for, like, another hour, so I-"
The Commandramon at the door just chuckled at the boy's awkwardness. "Duuuuuuude, easy, man. I's all good, dawg! Bro, I'm ya costar, Commandramon. Cool ta meetcha, ma man!" Before Tadayoshi knew it, his hand was grabbed by this dragon digimon's paw and made to shake it, followed by the most awkward fist bump he'd ever been a part of - and for a shy, timid kid like him, he'd been a part of some bad ones. "Nah, dog, they don't want us yet. I just wanted to meetcha before the shoot. I's really cool - check it, they want us to start with the heaviest action scenes in the script!"
"Th-the grand battle scene? Right, I mean, right out of the gate?"
"Badass, right? That'll get the blood pumpin'! And I wanted to come get pumped, y'know?"
"Uh... OK, yeah, um, sure." Tadayoshi gulped and opened the trailer wide enough to let Commandramon inside. The dragonoid digimon eagerly hopped up the few stairs, jumped up, and intentionally landed on the couch, bouncing up once before settling. "F-forgive me, but, you're... not what I expected. You know? I mean, like, you seem nice, but the script described your character as 'a stone-cold killer with perfect aim and laser focus.'"
"'Eeeeeey, I can play a character good as anyone else can. 'S why you're here ain't it, Mr. 'self-assured teenager who takes no shit?"
"I... guess that's fair."
"So, we gon' run lines, or what?"
"R-run lines?" Tadayoshi let a bead of sweat drop. "I didn't know you wanted to... but, sure! Um, OK, yeah."
So the two sat across each other and got to work reading from their scripts. It took a few lines for Tadayoshi to truly get into character, but he seemed like a completely different person once he'd gotten into the right mindset. "That's it! We have to fuse! Commandramon?" Yoshi's earlier voice cracks and stutters were gone to be replaced by a loud but smooth and clear shout.
"Standing by, sir!" Commandramon's own light-hearted, diction-impaired manner of speaking was also completely different now. He was cool, collected, and down-to-earth now.
"Renamon! Missimon! Coredramon! Andromon! Sparrowmon! Troopmon!"
A cacophanous chorus of voices suddenly cried out from behind Yoshi, ones he wasn't expecting this time. They startled him again when they all simultaneously sounded off, "STANDING BY, SIR!" Yoshi, in his spinning chair, gasped and rotated to find all the digimon he'd just named had all snuck into the trailer and squeezed inside (except Coredramon, who poked his head in through a window). Renamon then exclaimed in a stereotypical valley girl sort of voice, "So, like, the director actually wants us all on set now. You guys, like, ready?"
"Uh, h-hi! Yeah, we'll be right there."
Time: 02:15 hours. Setting: the band of rebels' village, overtaken by Troopmon who have stepped up patrols because they've gotten a tip to expect rebel infiltrators planning a major strike against Black Army targets. What they didn't know was that this was information leaked by the rebel spy Renamon who was, at that moment, ordering a regiment of Troopmon straight into a forest clearing - a killbox. "We know they're here! Search under every brush until you get them, dead or alive!" What the poor Troopmon didn't know was that Commandramon was not hiding under a brush trying to evade capture; he was circling the night sky waiting until all the Troopmon were clustered in one clearing. Then, the fusion Pteramon strafed the area with bombs and bullets, leaving nothing but residual data floating off into the air where Troopmon used to be. "General, the advance force is... hmm. How to describe it?"
"Blown away?" Pteramon suggested from the air.
Thanks to Yoshi's human-digimon comm, the group were all able to hear each other, leaving Renamon open to comment, "A little underwhelming, but not inaccurate."
"Sounds good!" Yoshi touched his finger to the little earpiece as he responded. The General himself was scouting the village from a ridge half a mile away with binoculars. "Regroup and defuse. We have to switch to Cannondramon for the bombardment. Coredramon, Missimon, Hagurumon, meet Renamon and Commandramon at Gamma as planned. Sparrowmon, make sure they get there safely."
"Roger!" was the simultaneous response from all those given orders.
"General, Tankmon have been dispatched," Sparrowmon rang in just then, "They're blocking the way to the rally point."
Unfortunately, Pteramon found out about it, too late. He had to begin some fancy maneuvers to evade dizzingly fast machine gun fire from the Tankmon as well as guided missiles. "General, they have triple-A!"
"Break off!" Yoshi began to scramble desperately, "We didn't plan for this! Pteramon, Sparrowmon, come back to me, and we'll-" Too late. One missile struck each of the two aerial digimon's wings, sending them both spiraling toward the ground below the treeline and out of Tadayoshi's sight. "No!"
"Aaaaaaaaand cut!" Soon as the director finally gave him a chance to break character, Tadayoshi rolled over onto his back and began to breathe heavily, trying to come down from playing such a tense situation.
"Oh- oh, my god! That was so fun!"
"Yeeeeah, maybe for you, dog," Pteramon groaned through the earpiece, "Yo' ass ain't the one who had to take a missile in the you-know-what and crash! What're you even doin' usin' real missiles, anyway?"
Renamon then radioed in, "Like, I why'd you even say 'you-know-what' if you said 'ass' in, like, the same sentence?"
As Pteramon, Renamon, and the Tankmon regiment all began to argue which caused a dissonant hissing in Yoshi's ear, he nevertheless grinned and continued to breathe hard from the thrill and adrenaline rush of the scene. He thought he was gonna like this set.
