"Humanity is more then just appearance. It's actions. Emotions. Kindness. Anyone can be human without appearing as one." The Doctor explained her voice emotionless as she very carefully inserted the two IV's into the egg and took the offered vials from Jegan before inserting them into the machine. Turning on it's cooling system to keep the machine itself from overheating she carefully switched it on as it came alive with a humm. Slowly Tawna would be able to see the crimson tinted data being drawn through the tubes and filtered through the machine to come back clear upon being inserted into the egg. All seemed to be going well, but slowly that extended spark of self that had bloomed within the Doctor's mind was dying. Like slicing off a hand she hadn't even known she had had severing the muscle with a razor blade inch by inch as little by little the machine killed the sense of connection between them. The sensation not unlike losing ones sight or sense of hearing the static growing louder and louder until the silence within Cassandra's head was nearly deafening in it's loneliness. Her fingers trembling minutely as she kept her eyes on anywhere, but Haru and Tawna.
"For what it is worth...I am sorry." Cas rasped out her throat tightening against the pain in her attempt to hide her own agony as slowly the Egg in Tawna's arms lost the red tint to it's shell. Quietly she reminded herself that one did not deserve to keep that which they could not protect. Her touch was poison and this isolation...it was the only cure as she allowed herself to drift in her thoughts until finally the machine clicked off with a soft ding.
"You're turn Tawna." The Doctor intoned motioning Jegan forward as the Biomon carefully removed the needles from the egg and smoothed away the pinricks they had caused with a soft glow of light. Then took the new IV ends from the Doctor's trembling hands and inserted them into Tawna hooking her up to the machine next as the Doctor switched out the now glowing red vial of liquid from the machine with the second clear blue one.
"You may feel the sensation of cold and some pinprickling of pain though it should not grow beyond an annoyance. If it does please inform us." The Biomon explained before drifting back slightly as the Doctor once more started up the machine.
-Field Medic: Bombarding a target with healing light Biomon may close up the wounds of up to two rookies or below Digimon in single turn, the wounds of a Champion Digimon in one turn, the wounds of a Perfect Digimon in two turns, the wounds of a Mega Digimon in three turns. This however does not magically 'fix' the injury, but is in fact Biomon speeding up his targets own healing process meaning that if a broken bone is not properly set or if a wound is not properly cleaned and cared for it will heal up wrong. Both Biomon and their target must remain stationary during this process. -Zone of Healing: All allies within fifty feet of Biomon recover ten percent health every turn they are not actively engaged in combat. (Passive) -Miracle Aid: Medicmon may act as a fully equipped mobile medical and toxicology lab for those he is assisting and boosts all allied healing abilities, skills, and cards by twenty-five percent. (passive)

Tawna did not know how much she could possibly be able to grasp what qualified as humanity... after all, she herself was never human. She only had a partial understanding of humans as a whole, but the way that Cas described it brought a question to the Meicoomon's mind... What really qualified as human? In that sense, could she herself be considered human in an odd sort of sense? It was a question that never truly dawned upon Tawna, but the way their emerald-eyes gazed into Cassandra's showed that that those words had touched her. This... This wouldn't change who Haru was to her. Haru would always be that person who showed her that first shred of kindness and gave her a new life.
The feline patiently waited as the IV's were inserted into the egg gently, slowly the disinfecting process beginning... It was minute, but Tawna felt an odd echoing feeling as this occurred, of someone whom clearly was being forced into a difficult and painful position. It was only a numb, passing feeling... but it was there, and it was alien to her. She had no clue as to the source of these passing, agonized thoughts... but she could recognize the doctor was hiding more beyond that emotionless face. After all, it was much how she was like back then. Tawna merely closed her eyes as she was spoken to, the feeling of the cold making her movement sluggish. "... I am sorry as well. If... I had just been a bit faster or stronger, maybe we could have avoided this... Or maybe if I could have just taken Haru's place." the Meicoomon spoke with a solemn tone, not a hint of doubt in their voice replying back.
No... There was no point dwelling on the past. The past was unchangeable, but a future could still be carved.
It required time, but soon that white egg was cleaned... pristine of the red plague that afflicted it; the noxious data siphoned away into one of the tubes. Tawna hesitated to flinch at the IV's, but muscled through having them prick into her flesh; shivering at the feeling it afflicted her as she felt something pulled out of her. It was likely only a minor infection compared due to only a portion of the Hunter's infected data uploaded into her... but it was still mildly uncomfortable. "... Question, doctor? I... Understand the risks leaving the infection with the egg... but what about me? That Meicoomon... She was the one from the Dark Area, was she? The one that was... infected." the Champion level asked, remembering at least the conversation about forbidden types of data to load... Arkadimon, D-Reaper, and Meicoomon. She was naturally two-for-three here, so she did at least understand that it was perhaps not wise to leave even the doctor's strain in her.

"The data we used of the Hunters was already unstable. Leaving the infection could cause your data to reject it eventually killing you or worse. Perhaps it might not, but in truth it's not a risk I'm willing to take." The Doctor explained her vision hazier at the edges then she would have liked as she swayed slightly on her feet. Jegan reaching out a hand to steady her as the woman rubbed at her temples trying to make it a point to breath through her nose.
"Jegan can you finish the process? Once Tawna is done they need to be moved to the isolation room for the twenty-four hour observation period. Tawna can remove the EV discs from herself and the egg once you've placed them both inside and exited the room. I'm going to fetch her some food from the kitchens for before the discs are removed. Sustenance will help fuel the healing process." The Doctor explained waving the Biomon to take are place a slowly the woman clicked her D-terminal on giving it the needed time to charge so she could depart once Tawna and the egg were settled. Then turning she made her way out of the lab, waving he digivice in front of the door to open it where it closed quickly behind her once she had exited.
"Please forgive the Doctor. She is still recovering and is under a great deal of stress. However her work is nothing if not genius." Jegan murmured his voice mechanical, but softer and touched with genuine emotion rather then the hollow mimicry of what had once been the plagued the Cassandra's tone.
"Still she is right. Once you've had food brought to you, you and the egg will need to be held for observation for twenty-four hours to ensure there are no major complications. I will likely be your observer since I do not require true sleep and the Doctor will likely be needed back at the Fort." The Biomon explained hovering about the little cat as he monitored the process.

Tawna was not one to argue with the doctor's words... She had no reason to argue with an ally when they already had nothing else to lose. Cassandra had already done so much for them here that in regards to how much Tawna could trust her, she had no choice but to believe the woman's words now. She... She had to make sure she lived as well for Haru's sake. "I-I understand... Apologies." The Meicoomon softly spoke as she sighed, watching the doctor leave the room.
They were going too have to stay here? Crap... That was not going to be an easy thing to explain to anyone in the Field Club... Actually, hell; none of this was going to be easy to explain to the Field Club. She wasn't sure how thankful she was that only one member of it knew about what happened knowing that it was Haru's own sister who had learned of the murder.... Damn if this would not be easy.
"No... I-I understand. She had to work quickly, else the data would have either deteriorated in that Meicoomon's core or it would have just been recycled by the Digital World itself..." the maine coon responded to the Biomon's defense of Cassandra... something Tawna was not willing to deny. This woman helped give her partner life... for that alone she was forever in their debt. She gently palmed at the egg... feeling a soft warmth radiating from inside it.
It would only be a little while. Twenty-four hours was not a lot of time... but it stil left questions brewing in the Meicoomon's mind, some with a higher priority than others. "... I do need to ask... b-because I actually don't know myself. How long will it take for her to hatch...?" she asked Jegan, unsure herself how quick that would happen. She... had never actually seen a Digiegg hatch, so this was something new to her. At the same time, she wasn't the only one who would have wanted to know when or how Haru would be reborn... She could only imagine what Naoko was feeling right now, and it hurt her knowing that she held much of the same feelings. Damn this empathy for others... What a dual-edged sword she briefly mused to herself internally before gazing back to Jegan. "... What about her sister? The girl that had the Crossmon... They need to know of this. They need to know their sister is... alright."

"I do not know for certain. She will hatch when she is ready. Perhaps in a day. Perhaps in a week. However long it takes the data to settle." The Biomon explained as finally the minute traces of data flowing out of Tawna's system ran clear and the machine clicked off with another ding. Unhooking the IV's from the Meicoomon Jegan very carefully scooped both cat and egg up once more floating towards the isolation room the pair would remain in for the observation period.
"We will do our best to let your companions know, but I will not force anymore promises from the Doctor than she has already given today." He explained his voice gentling as he carefully set Tawna and Haru down on the cot pausing a moment to tuck the blankets around them both to keep them warm once the food had been brought and they could remove their EV discs.
"Promises exact a terrible price from those in our profession." The Biomon explained voice soft.
Cassandra leaned heavily against the doorframe of the kitchen sweat beading across her forehead, the Doctor's pulse beating through her mind like fists pounding upon a door in time to the small near constant chirp of her D-terminal. The noise of notifications an almost constant reminder of the war going on. The war she needed to get back to as Cas struggled to hold the fractured pieces of herself together. The world tilting and spinning before her gaze as nausea lanced through her sending the woman lunging for the kitchen sink. Her claws scrabbling against the cool metal of the basin as her body heaved and shuddered as she spilled what little contents her stomach had as her form doubled over with a great wracking cough. Her knees buckling from the effort to hold herself up as the woman slipped to the floor crumpling sidewise as her legs gave out like a puppet with cut strings.
Leaving the Doctor to curl into herself pressing her forehead against the cool tile of the floor instinctively seeking the relief it would bring as she had done many times as a child, but she could feel nothing. Nothing, but the sharp lancing pain in her chest and side as she coughed and coughed and coughed her lungs choking for air. Leaving nothing, but her too small form huddled on the tile her skin pale and sickly slick with sweat as she breathed in air with each wet shuddering gasp when the coughing finally passed. Her fingertips coming away nearly black with dark rouge colored blood as she pressed them shakily to her lips her eyes stinging with the pin prickling of tears as she stared at the color.
For a long silent moment the Doctor considered not getting up. Leaving herself to lay here in the quiet of the empty base her life bleeding out on the kitchen floor. It would not be a noble death. Noble deaths were for heroes and champions not monster. Not herself, but she prayed that it would perhaps be peaceful as she let her eyes slide close with a soft broken sob.
But what did the gods care for the prayers of monsters? As Cassandra's D-terminal let out an ugly screech as yet another high priority message hit her inbox leaving the woman to drag herself up and to war once more. There were after all no gods for the likes of her.

Tawna disliked not being in the know of what would come for them... The anxiety of not knowing when the Digiegg could hatch gnawed at her, for she wanted to know when it would hatch as soon as possible. When it hatched, that would be when she'd be able to rest her mind... She so desperately wanted to be able to talk to Haru once more and let them know she was sorry, but she knew that time was going to want for her to be patient. "I understand. Forgive me for pushing the matter, Jegan." the Champion level softly apologized as the disinfecting process was finally completed; feeling a bit light-headed afterwards.
The Meicoomon was soon taken in the arms of the living-hospital that was the Biomon, set down on the make-shift bed while cover by a set of blankets; helping the feline to trap the heat she was somewhat scarce of at the time. She gave a consenting nod in regards to letting the others know, though it was clear she wanted to say more on the matter with the way she seemed to struggle to remain silent. How were they going to explain this? Should... should they just try to keep it secret? How would this affect Haru's life back in the human world? Was it even feasible to try and have her keep living there? So many questions that she just did not know how to answer...
Tawna merely kept a grip of the egg in her arms, wrapping the two tendrils that grew from her neck around it like a makeshift scarf... Everything was uncertain to her, but she did not want to give up hope now. Haru would have killed her if she gave up on everyone now. Adjusting her gaze briefly to Jegan, she slowly closed her eyes as she remained motionless in the blanket with Haru's egg close to her person. "... Thank you. Thank you so much..."

Cassandra dragged herself back up to the sink fumbling for the knobs with badly shaking hands as she ran the water down the drain before shoving her head under the faucet to drink. Rinsing her mouth and spitting till the water ran clear the Doctor finally turned back to the task at hand. Grabbing a basket, not trusting herself to carry the likes of a plate Cassandra shoved a loaf of bread into it, a bottle of milk, some fruits, a couple of wrapped slices of cold cooked ham, whatever she didn't need to heat and was edible before she made her way back towards Tawna. Having to pause every so often to lean against the walls when the world began to spin a little too much.
The woman that returned looked far more pale and frazzled then the one that had left, but any evidence of her little...accident, having been disposed of down the sink.
"Doctor." Jegan greeted carefully taking the basket from the woman's hands as he set it down beside Tawna's cot on the floor for when she felt hungry.
"Jegan...How are they...how are they holding up?" The Doctor questioned after a moment to gather her thoughts.
"Well so far. There's been no data shifts. I believe the transfer for Tawna was a success. No movement from the egg just yet." The Biomon informed her. "Tawna however is hoping that when you return you could let Haru's sister know what has happened." He added drawing a tired sigh from the Doctor, but a nod as she ushered him out of the room. Turning to Tawna herself Cassandra frowned and knelt to carefully remove the EV discs from her and the egg.
"I will try. That is all I can promise. I must return to the field shortly. Jegan will watch over you two. If you need anything he will be just outside the room." She informed them softly exhaustion weighing her limbs as she stashed the discs back into her coat and stood on trembling legs.

Tawna's breathing was slow, but stable as they bundled up in the blanket that covered her and the egg as she tried to capture as much as heat as possible... the EV discs somewhat making that process a touch trickier. Her movements were sluggish, the exhaustion from her fight with the Hunter prior still having a strong effect on her even if she was no longer mortally-wounded. Her body was still trying its best to recover having had most of its data ripped off and somewhat hodge-podged reinserted back into her. She felt considerably weaker even now... an unpleasant feeling, but one she was willing to sacrifice for knowing that doing so is helping to give her former-tamer a chance at life again.
She roused slightly from her groggy-state to see the pale woman that had a hand in this operation set down a basket of food by them... the Meicoomon extending their tail to pick up the basket by the handle and draw it closer as they began to nibble slowly on a slice of bread as Jegan and the doctor conversed slightly. She... wasn't feeling particularly ravenous right now, but she did need sustenance of some kind. She slowly nodded as Cassandra spoke to her, a slight bit of relief at least hearing the reassurance they offered...
They weren't oblivious to the rather poor state they looked to be in, but she wasn't sure if that was just the D-Reaper in Cas's body, or the stress of the prior situation. They nodded their head as they winced at the faint exhaustion the doctor was exihibiting as they removed the IV disc on her and the egg... warmth coming back to Tawna a bit more easily now. "... Thank you... Pl-Please, Cassandra... Be safe." the Meicoomon innocently thanked the sickly doctor, tying back up the loaf of bread for later as she bundled herself back up in the blanket, trying to keep that pristine white egg warm as she began to lay her head down... drifting to a restless sleep.

"You shouldn't thank me Tawna, but you are welcome all the same." Cassandra murmured giving the tired Meicoomon a small grim smile the expression strange upon her face as if she couldn't quite remember how to do so. Then glancing the egg and rookie over one more time she turned and left the room closing an sealing the door behind her.
"Scan both Tawna and the egg once every hour for the next five hours. Then you can switch off to scanning them once every five hours. I don't know how long I will be, but do not release them until I return. If either of their data is to go critical it will likely happen within the next twenty-four hours." The Doctor instructed as she activated her D-terminal the portal appearing before her as she turned to Jegan once more.
"If they go critical...call for me and make them as comfortable as you can." She murmured as the Biomon nodded solemnly settling in for his long watch.
"I understand Doctor." Jegan spoke softly as once more Cassandra offered that shadow of a smile that was not a smile before stepping back through the portal once more.
[Exit Cassandra]
