"Silence."
"Excuse me, boy?" Apparently, Renamon still didn't care for taking orders from a teenage human boy. Without any warning, she rose off her seat in a rolling office chair and grabbed her human partner by his school uniform's collar, lifting him up from there high enough that he couldn't put his feet on the floor anymore. There was nothing the boy, Tadayoshi, could do about it either. If he screamed, he would have alerted his father downstairs with the noise, and that was certainly no good. If he had tried to fight back, the best case scenario would have been a black eye, and the worst case could have been much, much worse. Mr. Teppei would certainly wonder how his son managed to get a body covered in cuts and bruises from the comfort of his own bedroom, especially while he was supposed to be too busy studying for such affairs. Therefore, Tadayoshi was completely powerless as Renamon glared at him and demanded, "Revise your tone with me."
"Please refrain from harming our General." Commandramon gave that command from his spot on Tadayoshi's bed, but he didn't sound very passionate about it. That was because he was focused on trying to solve a failure to feed on the part of his magazine. Without even looking at the struggling duo, the armed dragon hinted, "It would be a shame if one of his other underlings were to take revenge?"
"His other underlings?" Renamon indignantly hissed, "I could try to explain everything wrong phrase, but I'd like to be released from my contract before our noble General expires from old age. Point one: I am no one's underling. Am I understood?" That question was for Tadayoshi, who timidly yet vigorously nodded. "Point two: drop this charade of yours. This is your crusade, your blunder, and your little band of freedom fighters, not some human teenager's. You might call him by a meaningless rank, but don't fill the poor boy's head with delusions that he matters for anything but giving you the power you want!"
Before Commandramon got to respond, he apparently had just finished fixing whatever his problem was, for he then held it up in front of himself and concluded, "Ah, that's better." Satisfied, Commandramon then pointed his rifle upward to more easily stuff the magazine back into its proper place inside the rifle. "Now..." Commandramon pointed his weapon back safely toward the ground. However, he also maintained a tight grip on the weapon and looked ready to point and shoot as he issues his demand again: "...put the boy down." This time Commandramon was more focused and passionate this time around, making it clear he wasn't going to give Renamon a choice in the matter. Renamon sneered back, equally displeased about being given orders from the dragonoid as from the human. However, she knew she couldn't push the digimon protecting her too far. That was why she dropped Tadayoshi and let him fall backwards on his bed beside Commandramon. "You were saying, General?"
Tadayoshi needed about thirty seconds, five to catch his breath again and 25 to try and push away what Renamon had just said about him. Then he continued, "I wasn't saying 'silence' to you. We were talking about a name to put on the recruitment posters, and I thought that would be a good one. It's English for-"
"-We know what it means, boy."
"Continue on," Commandramon attempted to encourage.
"We're fighting evil here, right? Evil is loud, influential, and overt, at least when it can afford to be. We won't make that mistake. We've all been secretive, keeping our identities and movements quiet - in both worlds. Evil wants to shout its victory from the rooftops; we'll shut them up. We're Silence."
Renamon raised one eyebrow, apparently surprised by the acuity Tadayoshi had just demonstrated. Exchanging a glance with Commandramon gave away that even though she wanted to have a problem with the suggestion, she couldn't seem to find one. So, Commandramon made the call: "I think it's time to print some flyers."
Recruitment notices to be posted around the city contained contact details for Tadayoshi's D-Terminal, a general mission statement drafted from their foursome, and the new name of their organization: Silence. They couldn't say much more like what exactly the force's short-term or long-term goals were, as the former had to be secret to be possible and the latter frankly didn't exist. Nevertheless, they needed more numbers to launch an pick the campaign for Commandramon's home back up. Anyone who wanted in, in theory, would be able to contact Tadayoshi who would then attempt to real them in.
That wasn't how it happened.
As Tadayoshi was all alone and posting one notice on a wall, he thought he heard childlike snickering in his direction, so he turned around. Nothing was there except for one Digmon who seemed to be too busy to stop and laugh at a teenager taping posters on street corners, so he turned back to finish sticking the one in his hand. That was when it happened.
"We'll-"
"-take-"
"-that-"
"-thank-"
"-you!"
"Huh?" The first one of those high-pitched voices that zoomed past Tadayoshi turned out to be a Missimon flying past the boy close enough that he dodged backwards. The second one turned out to be the second of six Missimon all flying right past Tadayoshi, forcing him to dodge and weave to avoid getting struck by a literal missile. "Whoa-!" The boy exclaimed as he jumped forward to avoid the last one zooming by just behind him at about hip-level. Luckily, it brushed past him but didn't manage to strike him. So he watched the last Missimon zoom by safely and breathed a sigh of relief... until he thought about what they had said. He checked his back pocket to find it empty. He checked the last sight of the final Missimon in the line to catch a glint of silver reflecting off something they held.
His Xros Loader had just been picked.
"Hey!" Tadayoshi had to drop his load of notices in order to pursue the line of Missimon, but it was very clear they could fly a whole lot faster than he could run. As they disappeared down an alley, Tadayoshi was a whole ten seconds behind and feared he might never catch up. Commandramon is gonna kill me, he groaned internally before another desperate thought came to him. Forget Commandramon. Renamon might really, literally kill me! Tadayoshi shouted, "Stop!" as he rounded the corner and found the situation already handled: Commandramon was blocking the way down the alleyway while Renamon was behind the band of Missimon.
Renamon glared at Tadayoshi soon as he was in sight. "And what was the point of this?" Commandramon demanded of the Missimon.
"To-"
"-prove-"
"-that-"
"-we-"
"-could-"
"-sir!"
Again, each of the Missimon only said one word, and yet their speech came as fast as normal speech. 'Sir?' Tadayoshi noticed, finding the respectful gesture odd given recent actions. However, the missile digimon explained themselves promptly enough.
"We-"
"-nicked-"
"-the-"
"-human's-"
"digivice!
"Cool, right?"
"No!" Renamon growled.
"You're-"
"-Silence-"
"-and-"
"-we'll-"
"-tell-"
"-everyone-"
"-unless-"
"-we-"
"-can-"
"-join!"
"Excuse me?" Tadayoshi balked.
"This isn't a children's game. We need soldiers, not thieves," Commandramon reiterated as he snatched the Loader back.
"You-"
"-wanna-
"-see-"
"-how-"
"-tough-"
"-we-"
"-are?"
"They certainly have spirit." Nice as those words sounded, Renamon clearly didn't mean that as a compliment. "I don't like being blackmailed by little brats."
"Then-"
"-we'll-"
"-tell-"
"-everyone!"
"Not-"
"-very-"
"-silent-"
"-are-"
"-you?"
The group all exchanged glances. If the Black Army were to find out the rebellion wasn't as crushed as they believed, it would make all their lives a lot harder.
"What's-"
"-it-"
"-gonna-"
"-be-"
"-General?"
