Hanging After The Show (Valentine's Event 2019)

The Gatomon's Cradle was a club in Terminus which had a bit of a seedy reputation, but Haunted Threnody was going to take just about anyone's money to play, especially in the biggest city in the digital world. A Musimon sat behind a loud, double-bass drum set while a Flamedramon without gauntlets was flailing about with a bass in his hands. There was even a human on stage playing guitar. The real center of attention, though, was the Shoutmon with a mic (not his usual mic stand) in his hand and screaming bloody murder through it. "Alright, you nasty motherfuckers! This is your last chance to get fuckin' crazy! Show me a pit right goddamn now!" he demanded during an instrumental break. Even though the place was at damn near capacity, they barely managed to open up a circle in front of the stage. "This shit's gonna collapse when the song comes back down, so if you got a problem with wakin' up covered in bruises, stay the fuck outta the way! You hear me, Cradle?"
The drums got louder. The prechorus returned. Shoutmon took a deep breath. "I push my fingers into my..."
"Eyes! It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache! And it's made of all the things I have to take! Jesus, it never ends! It works its way inside! If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it!"
The crowd obeyed. The pit was full of digimon throwing blind punches, kicks, scratches, horn jabs, and the like. It was not a safe place to be. But to Shoutmon, that meant a successful finish. After the song ended and the band played out he declared, "Thank you so much, Gatomon's Cradle! The night's still young, so I think I'm gonna hang out and get drunk and party with you motherfuckers, 'cause goddamn! Goodnight!" They played their last notes. The human packed up all the group's things in the Infinity-store, and he as well as the Flamedramon took off. Musimon and Shoutmon, however, both went straight for the bar and ordered, "The heaviest shit you got," from the WereGarurumon working behind it.

Amongst the blind combat which occured, one rookie certainly did his best to turn the heat up, quite literally, as a show if punches and kicks was lifted to a show of fire and flame. Blue flares and red fireballs that were in response ascended just above the crowd, and as time passed, other elements quickly had entered the fray. The result was something in-between a mosh pit and an elemental brawl, any rookie willing to show their abilities included. Although it never got over the music, moreso providing a light show for those not participating directly.
Bero didn’t even pay attention to how well he was doing, so engrossed in the combat itself, how noticeable he was and how much eyes he caught wasn’t even a consideration for him. Naturally, this wouldn’t last forever, as eventually, the music had to die down, and it seemed the focus was now to just get drunk and let that occur. Bero went to the bar, by far one of the more wounded Digimon walking over there, although he carried it with pride, his cloak still aflame with blue wisps of fire as in the excitement, he didn’t even remember to douse his flames.
Bero went to the bar and just drank simple water, not being one for any intoxicating drinks Digimon could get. He was revelling in the pain he felt and the way it reminded him what to protect in future combats and what not. It created a unique visual, a short blackgabumon with his cloak entirely covered in wispy, blue flames, sitting at the bar, gulping down water, signs of scratches and punches still visible over his body. “Give me another water or something fizzy, hell if i care.” He spoke, grin still on his face from the elated feeling rushing through him.

"Ni-hice one, Muse!" Shoutmon held both hands out palms-up. Musimon slapped them with one set of her hands followed by the other. "Why doesn't every drummer have four arms?"
"I've tried it with two, and it makes life a whole lot harder. Jesmon, I nearly got roasted during that last pit, though! You shouldn't let them get that wild. Someone could get hurt."
"At our shows? Hang on." Shoutmon tossed back two shots of Whitewater Whiskey at the same time before going back to his point. "Kinda an assumed risk with us, Musi. And they fuckin' loved it! Like, look at that metal son o' one down there." Shoutmon pointed out a BlackGabumon whose cloak was still alight in azure embers. "That guy knows how to mosh. Yo! Bartender!" Shoutmon leaned in and whispered something in the WereGarurumon's ear. The wolf nodded and continued his work.
"Heh, seriously?"
"Why not? It's Valentine's Day. Leith's gone to meet with his furry bait, Vee's probably partyin' with the Easter Bunny, and here I am. I don't get a little action?"
"I'm tellin' you, Shoutmon, booze and impromptu decisions don't mix."
"We'll see."
Shoutmon wasn't making much of an effort to be discreet, but the area was also loud enough that maybe it covered the noise and kept Bero from overhearing. In either case, it became apparent soon enough when WereGarurumon came back to Bero. In one hand he held a cream soda like Bero had originally wanted. With the other, though, he also set down a glass of, "Terabyte Beer, courtesy of the Shoutmon down there." WereGarurumon inclined his head to point out Shoutmon, who was leaning back in his stool in order to smirk and wink at the BlackGabumon he'd just sent a drink to.

A cream soda, fizzy enough to make him feel alive… and a beer courtesy of a shoutmon? Bero looked at the shoutmon with a raised brow. There was a stare that was just long enough to get awkward, before Bero got what this was getting at, obviously a little slower on the intake. He chuckled and grabbed the terabyte beer, popping it open and chugging some down into his mouth, but not swallowing quite yet. His coat’s claws lifted up as he turned to the shoutmon while still chugging a little more beer. He put the terabyte beer down quite forcefully on the bar, before his claws made a little heart shape, as one would do with two hands. Bero, with his mouth full, suddenly blew out into the heart-shaped hole his hands made, and as he blew through them, blue fire ignited the Beer that bero had been keeping in his mouth, and a small fireball came out from his hands, forming a blue fiery heart. It wasn’t a genuine gesture, more of a tease, as his mischievous smile afterwards would show, but that would be easily enough mistaken. “You can tell him he’s free to try, but this fire ain’t easily tamed, if you care.” Bero said to the WereGarurumon, casually going to his cream soda and sipping at it instead.

Oh, yeah. I know where this is going. Everyone digs a man with a band, was Shoutmon's mental response to the initial acceptance of his offering and the heart gesture that came after it. The fire art, he thought, was a gesture of invitation and reciprocation, but watching him go and reject the beer he'd sprung for made it clear. WereGarurumon didn't have to pass on the message... which was a good thing, because he refused to do so.
"Tell him yourself. That's it! Both of you, out of my club before you burn it down!" the bartender yelled, pointing at both Shoutmon and the BlackGabumon.
"What?"
"You heard me. We paid you guys already. Get up and go."
"Fine! Let's get outta here, Musi."
"Me?" Musimon echoed back with a sort of sass in her voice. "I didn't get kicked out."
"Come on!"
"Nope, go be with your lover boy. Hey, Keep! Bloody Mary over here."
"Oh, you suck." Shoutmon was at least enough of a gentleman to settle his tab before leaving, but that was more to spare the band's reputation than to do the right thing. Of course, he wasn't gonna give up quite that easily. He'd just been challenged by a good-looking, hard-to-get BlackGabumon, and while he was without Leith and with alcohol he wasn't entirely respectful of the personal boundaries of Bero at the moment. That was why he waited for the BlackGabumon to come out after him so he could give it another shot. "So, hot stuff, where you goin' after this?" The look on his face suggested he was prouder of his wordplay than he really deserved to be.

Out? Just for that little display? Well, it was the Shoutmon who gave me the alcohol! Bero thought as he looked at the WereGarurumon with incredulous disbelief. It last for just a split second, he was done with this place anyway. “Pf, Alright.” The BlackGabumon rolled his eyes before paying up first. No need to anger someone obviously stronger than him.
Descending from his stool, the fellow finally realized he had accidentally left his cape ‘on’. With a simple exhale via his nose and quick thought, the cape simmered down to it’s smooth, unburning, black self. With a slightly slowed down gait, his right leg hurting more than he expected it too, he made his way outside, passing through the entrance and almost vanishing entirely in the darkness for a second before becoming visible once more one leaving the place proper. The shoutmon had left with slightly more hassle, but had left quicker than he did, leaving him to walk outside to a Shoutmon callin him hot stuff.
“That joke is the worst. And i guess since i’m done brawling here, i was going to go somewhere to rest up so i’m ready for the next scrap. Only the strong are worth my time anywho.” He spoke to him with high and mighty voice. The fact that the Gabumon wouldn’t even reach the shoutmon’s chin properly apparently didn’t even find it’s way into Bero’s thick skull. He tried to brush off Shoutmon with a sly grin and walk on, well aware that may elicit a response of sorts. He winced as he stepped on his right foot, but tried to hid it by hurriedly taking the next step as if in full confidence.

Oho! Shoutmon wasn't fooled. He knew he wasn't being evaded but just indirectly challenged. Now that's my kinda trash talk. Shoutmon went straight for kill in his return fire. "You got a lotta rage for a little guy!" Shoutmon wasn't angry. He was amused. "I almost wanna fight you myself if you want a little action. Problem is every hit from you would be below the belt." Shoutmon wasn't looking too hard at Bero's bad foot, oblivious as he was. He was very goal-oriented now, focused on one task.
Shoutmon jogged after Bero like he knew he was being invited to do and stopped him on the sidewalk by summoning his battle mic and pointing it at the pelted lizard to block his way. "Alright, little guy, let's play it your way. Right here, right now! First one to knock the other on his ass wins! You drop me, I go away. I drop you..." Shoutmon needed a very, very long time to think about that. Why? Well... he didn't think that far ahead. But he came up with something after perhaps thirty seconds. "...we find another club, and you let me buy you another one."

Every word Shoutmon said shot anger and fury through every function and line of code in Bero’s body. Little guy? Blue embers formed over his cape. Every hit below the belt? A maddened Grin and small blue flames covered the black furred cape, heating the very air around him. Shoutmon had stopped him with his battle mic, but insanity had basically already overtaken Bero’s eyes. As Shoutmon said little guy one more time, the entirety of Bero’s cape which eclipsed his overall form erupted into one massive blue flame encroaching upon him, his fury kicking the fires into Accelerant Ignition. The Blackgabumon slowly turned his head to Shoutmon, killing intent shining in his eyes as roiling flames crackled. He let Shoutmon finish talking before he put his fists together. “Cry for me when your soft tush hits the concrete, will you? And run slowly. I’d like to hear your whimpering tears.” Bero said with a furious grin overtaken his face and the claws of his cloak moving freely, flaming claws ready to give the Shoutmon a hard time. On cue, the sharp appendages twist as Bero turns to Shoutmon. They clawed at his torso and legs, although they didn't quite stretch out, as Bero wanted to keep that skill hidden. “These attacks reach above the belt just fine!” Bero put his good leg back so he could dash closer if need be. As a way to further disrespect the Shoutmon though, the BlackGabumon crossed his arms while his cape appendages did all the work, standing his ground and trying to stay close to his soon to be victim ‘sparring buddy’. Accelerant Ignition Buff - Stoking the fires of his cape with raw energy, Bero covers himself with raging fire which allows him to move about 30% faster and makes touching his cape quite harmful, to the point of enemies dealing minor damage to oneself upon striking Bero with a melee attack. This buff lasts 3 posts and has a cooldown of 5 posts.Bero also attempts to make some unnamed scratched to Shoutmon

Alright! It was happening! Maybe a fight in the middle of the street was unremarkable, but this was a rather unruly section of the single largest city on the planet (or off it, for that matter). A couple of rookies settling their differences like men was just Tuesday. As for Shoutmon himself, well... Bero didn't exactly have the element of surprise. Shoutmon issued the challenge after all. Still, Shoutmon cried out, "Whoa! That's new!" As he managed to bat the attack away with his staff. He looked like he was almost caught off-guard... almost.
"The tsundere act is getting old, punk!" As Shoutmon planted the three spikes of his staff like a tripod, he was already hard at work analyzing his opponent, mind working a million miles an hour and body trying to keep up. This one's a firebug, and the fur acts like the sand from that show Leith made me watch. That guy wants to keep enemies at a range and that pelt between us. The only problem is... Shoutmon brought his mouth close to his microphone. Too close. He knew this would both make him obscenely loud and would produce a bass-heavy, clipping sound that was extremely ugly to the ears. On most days that was unacceptable, but today? It was the point. ...this one isn't a straight line.
Shoutmon inhaled. And he loosed a massive, monstrous, "GUTTERAL GROOOOOOOOOOOOOWLLLLLLLLLL!" He didn't even think that this noise might upset the rest of the neighborhood.
Shoutmon parried the scratch.Shoutmon attacked Bero with Gutteral Growl. -Gutteral Growl: This digimon turns on his microphone and screams into it at maximum volume to deal sonic damage against any opposing digimon who hear it.

Bero’s own mind wasn’t far behind, a combat tactician wracking his brain over what a shoutmon could do, and how he could counter it. The microphone was the main secret here, And Bero’s ability to counterplay it his main strategy. The Shoutmon backed off, but hiding his primary advantage here meant that he could try to catch the Shoutmon off guard! "I'm Afraid there's no cute side to this Tsundere, you imbecile!" He responded in kind while trying to already move back towards the Shoutmon, using the time Shoutmon was thinking to close the gap some.
Bero had to quickly react to Shoutmon preparing to use his Mic! He had his ignited cloak arm suddenly stretch out, combined with the BlackGabumon himself stepping forward, reaching to grab and muffle the mic! Given how easy it was for the shoutmon to shout, Bero would never block the full attack, but the cloak reached out and the fiery claw covered part of Shoutmon’s mic due to the speed his accelerated fires gave him. The resulting soundwave was still very loud, and had Bero disoriented for a split second, damaged somewhat by the attack. His strategy had paid off though, as while he had taken the damage, he had stood his ground. His many flames flickered in the waves of air pressure the the growl created, the fires licking and zipping to the air behind him for a bit. He had recovered quickly and his flaming cape claws now stretched out like burning elastic limbs, Bero confident with showing off the increased range. A claw from Shoutmon’s left swiped towards the Red digimon’s feet and mic stand!
Bero used his increased speed and stretchy limbs to cover part of Shoutmon’s Mic to lessen the damage, but still takes the remaining brunt of the attack! Bero attacked Shoutmon with Flame Swipe. Flame Swipe Attack - Using his freely controllable flaming coat claws, Bero makes a quick long swipe with flaming trails at his enemies. The coat and the fires coming from this attack can stretch out, giving it a sudden stretch and increasing it’s range beyond expected distance. The attack does minor damage and has no cooldown.

Covering the mic? That was a new trick! Shoutmon'd remember that one, but for the moment he'll just have to work with it. Being caught by surprise, that sweep for his legs and mic stand... partially. The stand did swing out horizontal, and it also knocked Shoutmon's legs out from under him. The tricky digi fell backward. The only problem, for Bero, was that one hand reoriented the staff to hit the ground and support some of his weight while the other hand stopped the rest of his weight by bracing against the pavement. Shoutmon's back, tail, and backside all avoided the dirt. His ankles burned, but it was hardly the worst pain he'd ever felt. "So you admit you're just playing an angle, though?"
Like a rubber ball, Shoutmon bounced right back up. Mic in two hands, he tried to use his best baseball swing to bat that meddlesome cloak out of his way and clear a path to its owner. Since he followed through on that swing, his backswing was already prepared for one more solid strike, only this one was meant for Bero's skull. Home run, little boy! Shoutmon thought to himself. "Stand Smash!"
Surprise! He feinted. He wanted Bero looking so he could sweep the legs just like Bero had tried on him. Revenge. Shoutmon suddenly lowered his weapon and swung at the right leg - Bero's bad leg. "Stand Smash!"
Shoutmon was hit by Flame Swipe.
Shoutmon attacked Bero with Stand Smash, feinting at the head before going for the right calf. -Stand Smash: This digimon uses his microphone stand like a blunt weapon and beats the opponent with it to deal blunt force damage.

He had gotten Shoutmon down and knocked back for a second, a gleeful grin on the BlackGabumon's mouth. But Shoutmon denied him the victory using some quick reflexes and it’s mic stand. Clearly, this Shoutmon had seen more scuffles and was quicker than Bero had anticipated. Looks like Shoutmon wasn’t taunting without being ready to back it up! But Bero wasn’t about to lose that competition either. Shoutmon’s words confused Bero for a second, but after that they were quickly back in the fight.
Bero paid no mind when his cloak’s hands were hit away, although that did prevent him from attacking with them right this second, or blocking with them in an easy fashion. Because of that he raised one of his normal hands to actually help bat off the mic when it would come for his head! However, as he was ready to bat away the Mic and attack the shoutmon again, the Shoutmon showed the true nature of his attack, a feint, and followed it up! "Azure Zenith!" Bero panicked, and the raging blue fire gathered in his horn, before rushing all around Bero and creating a sphere of blue flame to blow back the Stand Smash, his cape unfurling with the blue fire and igniting blaze from both his barrier and his extra fiery cape licked and lashed out and Shoutmon.
However, after the sphere of blue fire had passed away and revealed Bero once more, Bero didn’t react and retaliate instantly. In fact, he didn’t at all, giving Shoutmon time to try for the next attack, While Bero winced as the hottest flames on his cape receded and he needed to use two of his capes’ arms to push against the ground as an extra support.
Bero blocked Stand Smash using Azure Zenith. The fires of Azure Zenith and Accelerant Ignition lash towards Shoutmon in reaction to his Stand Smash. Accelerant Ignition Ends. Azure Zenith Defense - A small gout of flame rises from Bero’s horn before quickly creating a thin wall of flame all around Bero to protect him with, this defends him against rookie level attacks and reduces damage of champion level attacks by 50%, and also damages opponents who use melee attacks for minor damage. This ability blocks for a duration of 1 turn. This ability has a cooldown of 4 posts.

It was... ugly. Shoutmon's whole left side was singed from the burns he sustained as punishment for his efforts. The pain almost knocked him over by itself, but by clinging to the rim of a dumpster he held on long enough to get his balance back, at which he passed his weight back to his feet and stood up. He sneered at the Gabumon who held him off by hardly lifting a finger, bared his teeth. It looked like he was just about to get even more serious than he had been yet.
Then he let go of his microphone stand. Instead of hitting the dirt, it just disappeared into thin air. "Alright... screw this," he groaned, one hand trying to cover as much of his burned side as he could. The resilience of digimon meant he just needed time to heal by himself, but at the moment he didn't feel so hot. "You're cute, but you ain't worth that kinda effort." Shoutmon rolled his shoulders, then rolled his neck. Finally, he turned tail and started walking away. Despite the pain and slight intoxication, he still managed to walk completely normally. Why? That was a conscious effort. He was at least keeping his pride intact. Still, he was wary, not looking back but still trying to stay alert in case Bero tried pulling a fast one.

Bero couldn’t help but feel some kind of satisfaction. A panicked Azure Zenith? That had almost never happened, Shoutmon had shown him some tricks. He had never expected someone to feint with a swinging weapon, but he had, and had made Bero panic. Bero had been slowed down and honestly, he was down on any moves, the fires in him subsided. He looked at Shoutmon with a feel of tiredness, but the thrill kept him awake, albeit a bit slowed down, ready to try and play against the next move. Was Shoutmon finally going to get serious? Bero anticipated it! These mic moves had gotten respect and- wait. He was leaving? Bero could only half believe it. Such a good start, and it had ended so abruptly. Well, not that he wasn’t partial to fleeing himself. If a fight didn't teach him anything and his opponent had no more tricks to show, he did so too. As he watched Shoutmon walk away with a normal gait, as if unhurt, he felt more defeated than ever. He didn't want it to end, not yet. He wanted to be proven a point, to be shown his weak spots. But, without the energy to chase or attack, he couldn't act upon his desires. The tire from the brawl and this fight had accumulated in him, without the rush of the moment, standing got harder by the second. Any adrenaline keeping him awake had vanished entirely. “N-no… wait.” Bero had only managed a soft mutter. Knowing it was no use he swore at himself internally. It was no good to him, the loss of a potential rival that would have taught him much. Weakened steps led him towards the nearest object he could lean on, coincidentally the side of the dumpster. Huddling up against the corner of the dumpster and the wall, Bero let out an exhausted sigh before letting himself fall to the ground, done for the day. Tomorrow would be another day to try and find new competitors and rivals.
