Always In The Past [Digital Field Club Exploration]

(This thread is open to all Digital Field Club members that wish to join the Expedition)
It had been three weeks since the first venture into this unknown shard of the Digital World. Ayumi, and three body guards, had traveled to this strange world, frozen in time, and collected the first bits of Data. But as with all mysteries, they had but scratched the surface. So, it was inevitable that Ayumi would request the Digital Field Club to stage an expedition into this strange mirror of Suzu-shi.
Ayumi and Solomon had ventured back by themselves, to erect a small basecamp near the entrance door, having found that one of the houses had a door that worked and was unoccupied. In this house, whose insides were bigger than the outsides suggested, Ayumi had deposited various tools and gadgets to help with the exploration. And into this house, she had invited her club.
Outside the door, on the eerie, cold street, next to the newspaper stand, Yukiko was standing, waiting. For all her smarts, Ayumi was still only the self-professed second banana, it was still Yuki's club, so it was up to her to greet whoever wished to come along with their newest stint in this bizarre world!

Naoko thought the description of the place Ayumi had spoken of when she made that request was completely unreal even for the Digital World, but...If she was incredibly certain on an expedition there, she might as well come with. Although she had never ventured towards Old Terminus before, she figured that Titania knew the directions to where they were supposed to go well enough.
And it turns out that the fairy did, the two coming upon the newspaper stand with Yukiko waiting to greet them. Perhaps she was where they needed to go. "Hey, Yuki, Ayumi said she was gonna set up a base camp around here...Um. I apologize if this was already posted in the Tamernet chat or anywhere, but where is it? Titania thinks it's in a house."
"I don't just think that, I know it! If you're camping out in a city, use a house!"

Despite being supposedly the big sister and the one with more experience overall... It was perhaps unexpected for Haru to be the one who'd arive a bit later than her sister; she wearing her holosuit as the disguised Digimon ran down the street trying to catch up with Naoko and Titania, stopping to catch her breath as she reached the pair stopped by where Yukiko was setup. "Oh god, I'm so sorry... I wasn't expecting to you know, catnap for so long actually."
Partially this could be explained inside the inner workings of the former human-turned-Digimon's mind... partly since there were actually at least three consciouses inside Haru, two of which did not get along. It was anything but fun having Tawna basically sleeper-holding the Hunter 24/7. Made it quite difficult to get some quality sleep frankly. Nonetheless, she was here!

Returning to Old Terminus is hard for the green haired woman, even with others. But to possibly more proof of her theories, alongside any opportunity to explore the Digital World, is too tempting to not join in on.
"...Thank goodness it was easy to get here." The green haired woman shakes her head and sighs, having traveled with Dorothy on her broom to get here faster. Even then, she seems a little tired, finally getting back on her feet near the entrance and puzzled, to say in the least. "This place gives me the creeps, and for good reason. You all right, Dorothy?"
"Yeah, yeah, just watchin' for any freaky shadows." The last expedition to Old Terminus the pair understandably set the two on edge, and now returning to it makes both of them uneasy. Even with others to help, things still feel dangerous, the lonely, unsettling feeling of the meeting point only making things worse for the pair as the Witchmon gets off her broom as well, carrying it in one hand afterwards. "Looks like the kinda place you'd see 'em." For now, she's quiet, mostly keeping to herself and watching for any danger... Even if there seems to be none.
Spotting Haru, Yukiko and Naoko, Alice's relief is obvious, not being mostly alone on an expedition into what she regarded as the depths of the Digital World, a place so wildly unpredictable and unpleasant that one could easily think it has its' own malevolent will. "I'm surprised I could find my way here so easily. Old Terminus doesn't... Work like most places in the Digital World, from what I understand. It's a maze. I'm not certain, but sometimes it seems like places change location and move around. That said, it's good to see the three of you." Her glance soon moves to Yukiko in specific, her tone a little more serious than usual, not wanting anything dangerous to happen so far. "Fill me in a little bit. You've been here before?"

Three members of the club had arrived, it seemed. Yukiko was a smidgen disappointed, but she could not really expect her entire club to be available at all times. She smiled her trademark awkward smile at the three. "Ah, h-h-h-hi everyone! Ah, l-l-l-long time no see, Haru! Ayumi will be, uh, happy to see you!" Mizu had told her once Haru and Ayumi were sitting in a tree, kissing. Yukiko had found that very hard to believe. After all, Ayumi cannot climb trees to save her life. "Ah, l-l-l-let's go inside, I w-w-will tell you all I know!" This was directed at Alice, mostly. She turned, and unlocked the door to the house. The door made no sound as it swung open...opening into a vast hallway, which looked like someone had crudely pasted four regular house hallways together to make it bigger. Countless doors opened on either side. No way this would all logically fit into such a small house. "A-a-ayumi and a group of mercenaries had found and explored this place before, w-w-w-we call it The Instance. It appears to be a copy of a city up in the Ishikawa Prefecture, called Suzu, as it looked around the year 1986. Th-th-this place does not obey regular Digital World rules, and appears to be old and stagnant at first glance...b-b-but life seems to have found a way to populate and work with this old sepulchre of data...w-w-w-we're still trying to explore every nook of this city, b-b-but it's non-euclidian physics make that hard..." After a short walk, Yukiko led the three into the room where Ayumi had set up her base of operation. A large room, it looked like an oversized living room with a kitchen growing from the wall like a tumor. There was a faint hum in the air, coming from the generator plugged into the wall, and the television in the corner, which was turned on and showed some form of variety show of yore, though the people in the show just repeated their actions every 15 seconds. Ayumi herself was surrounded by lots of screens and keyboards, typing away. When she looked up, she smiled and waved. And, of course, blushed when she saw Haru. "Ah, hi people, I am glad you could come! Please, have a seat, there's a lot to talk about!" She pointed at a huge stack of sitting cushions leaning against the wall.

"It has been a while, hasn't it?" Titania remarked, the Tinkermon giving a fond smile towards Haru and Alice. "Since we've been all together, at least." That was something Naoko could spare a nod to. "Honestly, Haru, I'm way too used to being ahead of you nowadays...Are those catnaps really that good?"
...This already got weird. The blue-haired girl then turned her gaze to Alice. "Yep, the fact it works like a maze means we almost got lost on the way here. Several times. It's...crazy, to put it lightly." She remarked, before the duo set about with following Yukiko. So this was a copy of 1986 Japan. Or, rather, a city.
The two went to take a seat, as instructed, after waving at Ayumi. "Hey!" Titania smiled. "Got yourself all situated for this grandiose expedition?" She inquired towards the albino!

Not being one for history, a good amount of what Ayumi says flies over Alice's head, the green haired woman pondering several questions now. "...What do you mean it doesn't obey the same rules? That sounds a bit odd in itself... Well, I guess I'll know once we head in." Her questions only grow further when she's lead into the strange room, the whole situation just seeming stranger and stranger. "Old Terminus is basically a maze of junk data from what I've theorized, so perhaps there are pockets of more... Stable locations interspersed throughout? Just a thought." She gives a wave to Ayumi after spotting her, and sighs, leaning against a wall as she takes out that notebook of hers.
"It has been a looong while... Hey! And you're still 'round!" Dorothy, on the other hand, seems a bit less cautious after spotting Titania and Naoko, perhaps finding the two a pleasant surprise. "What's up with ya? Still getting into all kinds of dorky adventures? More than Alice, that's for sure, she's doin' a teaching gig now!" The Witchmon laughs, in a better mood in the presence of friends as she sits down on her broom and leans back, taking a good look at the television. "So, you sayin' this place is some kind of throwback? Like, the Digimon there are all chunky 'n angular and stuff?"
"... That wouldn't make any sense, Dorothy." Alice can't help but chuckle a little at the comment as she flips through her notebook, an unease still evident in every single action she takes. "Then again, the Digital World isn't exactly known for making sense on the surface level. What rules does this place have that set it apart from the rest of the Digital World, anyways?"

Ayumi waved at Titania, smiling. "Ahahah, yeah, I guess so, this may be bigger than even the fossil dig I did! I took a few days to set up this basecamp, it's hard to get proper power in this realm, the electricity that comes from the sockets has some...strange capabilities." She then turned to Alice and Dorothy. "Oh, not blocky, sorry to say! The Digimon here seem to come in two forms in this place: Either fused to the data of former inhabitants of Suzu, and pure ones. The former seem to switch shapes whenever you blink! The Digimon here also seem to be made up of various data fragments, turning them into strange hybrid species! Like that Agumon/Betamon hybrid we found at the beach!" Ayumi promptly showed a photo of the Digimon in question. It was a Betamon, only orange, with Agumon claws for feet, and no mohawk. "I could not really pin down how or why this happens, which is part of why I wanna stage this expedition! I sought out a few places to check out, and triangulated the ideal path to reach them through this noneuclidian space! I do hope to one day probe the central spire, too!"

Naoko needed to process the information being presented to her a little. It was both odd and amazing that what seemed like a copy of an 1986 city within Japan was just there in the Digital World...if a bit out of the way of everything else. The girl glanced to Dorothy and gave a nod.
"I'm trying to keep Titania and her kid in check. Oh, right, uh...Nereid exists. She's the Syakomon that's always napping at the front desk of the Library. Alice does teaching now...? That sounds like an interesting thing to witness." A quick explanation. Hopefully that was enough. Titania meanwhile nodded at Ayumi before tilting her head. "...Strange capabilities? Care to extrapolate?"
Naoko had been expecting a weird fish-toad-dinosaur creature in that picture, but the strange hybrid was a lot more tame than that. "So there's more things like that in the place? Have you tried going into any of the buildings yet? What...rules do those have yet?" If they wanted to probe that central spire one day, they should see if the structures are as odd as the rest of the place.

"...I see. Go figure that the Digital World actively impedes being explored sometimes." The green haired woman closes her notebook, seeming a bit more confident now that she knows at least a little bit of what the group is getting into. It does worry her, however, some of the things Ayumi states being... Odd to think about. Alice's eyes dart to the television, the strange footage a little unsettling to her, and she asks a few more questions. "Well, I guess we're heading in soon, but I can't help but wonder a few things... You say there's almost... Ghosts in there? And hybrid Digimon? Consider me confused."
Paying more attention to Naoko's story about Titania, Dorothy comments on their situation with a laugh. "Gyahaha, wait, you got yourself a new friend? Gyahaha, you really have been busy... And yeah, Alice's studyin' Digimon 'n stuff while teaching the young ones 'bout the world. We've been stayin' around Rosewood a lot 'cause of it." She doesn't seem nearly as uneasy as she used to be, in stark contrast to Alice, who just seems to have more questions.
"...Well, I guess the only way to try and make sense of things in there is to... Actually go in and investigate." Alice tries her best to mask her uneasy attitude, heading over to Dorothy to stand at her side. "Yes, let's get going as soon as possible!"

"Strange capabilities, as in, it seems to loop! That Tv there in the corner repeats the same 15 seconds of programming when plugged into a socket, and if I were to power my Laptops with the power here they'd also loop the first 15 seconds of activity! Its still good for light since the light 15 seconds ago is the same as the light now, but its bad fort actual science equipment! As for the buildings, well, I haven't seen that many yet, but they all appear to be vastly bigger on the inside. It's like opening a file on a computer! You never know how big it is until you open it! Space also folds in on itself in places, so walking down a straight street might lead you back where you started. Cartographing this place has been quite the challenge!" Ayumi then turned to Alice. "Ghosts, well, I wouldn't call them that. My current theory is that fragmentary Digimon data has fused with image data within this space to create these strange beings! It also explains the hybrids, as most Digimon here seem to be made from stagnant fragments swept here by accident, kind of like plankton in the sea!"
Once she had answered all questions, Ayumi nodded. "Right, the expedition! I have chosen three potential places to check out: The Suzu Town Hall, the Arcade down by the promenade, and of course the impossible to ignore spire in the middle of town, which we now know is the Kobayashi Estate! The Town Hall radiates data signatures resembling a digital biotope, the Arcade seems to resonate with the sound of machinery and...uh...music. And the Estate must be vital to this place, as a lot of the inhabitants here mention the Kobayashis, and there's a serious security perimeter around it! Which of these places sounds most interesting to you? We'll go there first!"

"It might have it's reasons for not wanting others to explore it." Titania suggested, folding her arms. "I'm...not entirely sure. Never was one for science..." With that aside, she glanced towards Dorothy. "Yes, my daughter's a friend." The fairy simply replied. "She's a friend to everyone that comes into the Library."
Ghosts, though...Well. Not ghosts. Naoko started to count oddities here. "Looping time, beings made from fragmented data...This is shaping up to be quite the place you found, Ayumi." The looping bit meant that they probably couldn't take much in terms of equipment to collect information...Hm.
As to where they wanted to go, Titania laid her vote down first. "I vote we at least scout out the estate, so we can...maybe learn a little about the security. Or the Kobayashis themselves, if they're so important to this place." Naoko then laid out her own vote, which was...pretty much far less scary-sounding than the place with the serious perimeter of security. "I'll just...Hm. The Arcade sounds like it could be a chance to see how machinery works within this place. It's got electronics, doesn't it? So we can see if that follows the fifteen second loop thingy you mentioned earlier."

"You two are right. The estate seems the most interesting... But also the most dangerous, without a doubt." The green haired woman states as she thinks to herself, already heading towards the door slightly. "It's undeniably important, though. If it's the most distorted location, we might have to be very careful."
"C'mon, none of ya wanna go to the arcade?" Dorothy chimes in with a slight frown on her face, still sticking by very closely to her Tamer. "Guess you all just hate fun or somethin', gyeheheh." Her comment is met with a stifled laugh from her own Tamer, the Witchmon smiling in response. "So they ain't ghosts, more like uhh... Alice, you're better at this kinda stuff than I am."
"Right... They're more like... To make an animal comparison, creatures that live in the deep ocean or in caves. The kind of thing you won't see anywhere else, adapted to their environment. Something like that. Anyways, I'm ready when the rest of you are." Alice isn't certain of her own words, but seems a bit more confident now, perhaps pushing herself to act that way. "If you've been here before, I'll follow your lead." She nods, holding her notebook close and looking to Ayumi with a faint smile of approval.

Ayumi bit her lip and looked aside. "Uh, while I agree that the spire is *very* important for our studies, I have also found that it's *very* well protected. As in, Not Even I Could Crack The Defenses protected. The last drone I sent there got eviscerated by a crow! I feel like we should wait with the spire, maybe I can find a weakness in the defenses. Uh, wh-why don't you go to the Arcade in the meantime? It's bound to be very interesting, too! Maybe it will teach us more about how electricity works in this place! You all go with Yuki, she's new to this place, too. I'll stay behind and keep in contact via your Digivices!"

"Exactly, it'd be unwise to approach the spire when we know nothing about the defenses--other than crows are decidedly bad news. Less ambitious, but a better place to start." Naoko decided to add onto Ayumi's explanation. At least it seemed like the digivices were unaffected. Titania looked at Naoko as though she were trying to process this for a few moments before she finally...agreed.
"Yes, that...does sound safer. If a mere crow can tear a machine to bits, I don't think we should try agitating whatever actual security might be at the spire. Plus, if we're going with Yuki and Mizu..." Titania trailed off, before Naoko cut in.
"This is not a goddamn date. We're exploring an arcade for the purpose of gathering data." ...For someone who originally was not that interested in whatever science lay behind the Digital World? Naoko had actually gotten quite engrossed in some of this. "So, how are we going to get in? And where specifically is the Arcade?"
