In a somewhat strange note, Amelie's apartment seemed a bit livelier than usual. Sure, the rooms were still plainly decorated, and the place still sorely lacked any measure of personality, but at least a conscious effort seemed to have been put at making the place look... a bit prettier, to say it in some way? Some portraits hung from the otherwise empty walls, and this time, the simple chandelier at the living room had all its lightbulbs working! In a sense, that was a bit of a small miracle. Or Ooi's doing.
Her plans at the moment weren't overly elaborate, all things considered. Her roommate told her that she was going to a classmate's house to study for an oncoming exam, and Asher had kindly offered to take care of Pichimon for the night; that was so nice of him!
She could only hope that Whiskers wouldn't think of them as a snack. That'd be pretty catastrophic.
Anyway? What was the brunette doing at the moment, on this rather pleasant evening? Absolutely nothing. Sitting in one of the living room's couches, a relatively small metallic tube danced in between the fingers of her right hand.
Truth to be told, even if the people that had agreed to visit were some of her closest friends, the prospect of having people over always managed to make Amy nervous. Why? She had no idea, especially not as of late; despite the stress that the oncoming exams might bring and Piper being overall insufferable, things were probably going the best they've been in a long time.
Better to just stop feeling so uneasy and focus on enjoying the second half of her birthday.

After much fuss in the home of the twins, varying from 'do we wear casual clothes? Fancy? In-between?' to 'should I bake a cake? Does she like cake?' the twins had finally settled their uncertainties, in order to head over to their friend's home! They had decided, more or less, to dress more casually, and yes, that Amy must like cake. If they got there and found out she didn't? (Or found out that she already had a cake!) That would just be too bad, and Amy would have to settle for liking cake on her birthday!
...Not really. If Amelie didn't like cake, the twins would just eat more of it than originally planned.
Though, the entire day leading up to Amy's apartment seemed to be eventful for the duo! Especially when, without even knocking on the apartment door, Evie would promptly open it, allowing her sibling to hurry into the room! "Hello! Pardon the lack of knocking!" the prim-and-proper blonde would chime, perhaps a little too cheerfully, as Amy's only form of warning as the twins let themselves in.
Elsie, on the other hand, seemed more distressed than cheerful, as she balanced a cake, covered by a carrying tray, in one hand, and began trying to remove a shoe with the other -- all while ensuring her sister closed the door as quickly as possible! "There was a bee in the elevator." Elsie explained, struggling with the same shoe until Evie could collect the cake from her. Once she had, the shoe-removal process was much quicker!
"It was actually a hornet. And, it's in the hallway now." Bees. Hornets. Same thing, as far as the red-eyed sibling was concerned! Vibrating doom machine with wings! "Elsie was afraid of waiting outside the door for you to answer, in case it tried to land on her." Funny how they could spend their days in an alternate world, fighting giant beasts, and still be alarmed by a single, regular hornet!
Once both of them had discarded their shoes -- and any risk of being attacked by flying 'monsters' -- the twins would chime, "happy birthday!"
Which, hopefully so far, it was! "Elsie made you a cake. We weren't sure if you already had one." If she did, there was going to be so much cake tonight. Not that there was really a problem with that! Then, a pause, "do you like chocolate cakes?"
Did she? Did the twins even actually bring a chocolate cake, or was there something completely different under the lid of this container? Maybe, the duo had just spent the past three hours arguing about whether or not Amy liked chocolate cakes. Who really knew, with these two? Either way! They had at least announced cake was involved!
And bees, apparently. Luckily, not combined.

Post by Katherine Jasso on May 1, 2019 15:12:40 GMT
It needed to be said: By this point, Katherine Jasso was this close to being a workaholic. For better or worse, it wasn’t your usual job the one she dedicated most of her time to. From her tent to Bastian’s laboratory, from Bastian’s laboratory back to her tent. All of the group’s efforts were focused on getting into the Dark Army’s hideout and getting those gems. The road was almost over, but as a certain Valkyrimon would say… that didn’t really matter at the moment.
No, this day was about relaxing, having fun with a friend and fulfilling a promise. Every string of Katherine and Jazz’s body had focused on forgetting about their quest for one single day and just have fun with one of the people who had helped them the most. Today was the day to celebrate Amy’s birth. So if Katherine’s story were like a book or a TV series, it was likely many considered what was coming as a filler episode. For the girl and the former bunny, it was nothing but some very much needed breathing time.
Katherine was sitting on Amy’s floor. Barefoot, her hair loose as most of the times, a pink sweater and jeans. Jazz, in her holosuited form, was sitting not far from her. She was wearing a black skirt and a pink blouse, while being barefoot too. Wasn’t it just wrong to have Amy make them tea on her birthday? Katherine wanted to make it herself, but she insisted!
Well, considering Katherine was a coffee person, it was clear Amelie’s tea was way better. It had been proved time after time during those days she lived with her and back at Liquid’s hut, a long time ago. So it was probably for the best.
A smile made its way to Katherine’s face after she took the first sip. “It’s good.” Both she and Jazz managed. It was likely the blue-eyed noticed something was on the table now. Something that wasn’t there when she went to pour the tea for them. It was a wrapped-in-pink package with a beautiful white bow to boot! The package looked so cute that unwrapping it was almost painful.
“That’s your present. It’s from both of us.” Katherine noted, that smile still on her face. “I hope you like it, Shisei.” The brunette added. “You can open it whenever you feel like.” Could it be Amelie preferred to do that once her celebration was over, or was she eager to know what was inside? “We also brought snacks. So… do you have a couple of bowls where we can put those? Unless you want to gobble those up straight from the bag.” She giggled.
Which, actually, brought a very interesting question to the table. “Did you invite…?” The door opened suddenly, providing Katherine of an answer. Elsie and Evie were here! That was nice, the twins were always a fun pair.
“A hornet!?” Katherine gasped once their happy birthday chiming was done, her voice louder than usual. “I-Is the door well shut?” By now, Amy should know she hated insects. Insect digimon, real insects, she hated all of those in equal parts!
The green-eyed cleared her throat, trying to recover all of the formality she had lost from the mentioning of a dreadful insect. “Hi…” Ugh, first names. To this point, she didn’t know the twin’s last names so… no way around it. “… Elsie, Evie.” She bowed her head a bit.
“Hi there.” Jazz waved, smirking. "Chocolate cake sounds great.” Katherine blinked twice. She was perfectly fine with a chocolate cake. However, the only thing that mattered was if Amy was.

As soon as the door was knocked for the first time, Amelie decided to snap off her reverie. The small metallic container that she had decided to twirl to kill time returned to its resting place alongside its peers; it had felt a bit weird to even think about trying one of those out, but for now, that was just relegated as a mere curiosity.
There was no reason for that, after all. Letting go of those thoughts, she stood up and walked towards the door to greet the first visitor. Thus far, things had gone rather smoothly; as always, Katherine and Jazz were very good company. The brunette enjoyed sharing her experiences with her, and was glad that the act was reciprocal. That was what friendship was about, right?
She had brewed some, and for now, that was mostly what was being shared by the three girls currently sitting around a small coffee table. "I'm glad you think it's good; there are few things as satisfying as preparing a blend that everyone can enjoy; especially considering that the process has... a very peculiar taste, to say the least!"
It had been a learning experience... that had made the brunette gag repeatedly, but that was not something fitting to say at the moment. Instead, she focused on the gift that Jazz and Katherine had prepared; a wide smile took over her features in an instant at the mere sight of the wrapping paper.
"Thank you very much!" If it weren't for the fact that the three were sitting at the moment, both the digimon and the human would've received a rather tight hug in response. Considering how curious the girl was, it was no surprise that she tore the paper as soon as she had been given permission, what would the gift be?
Despite that eagerness, the request for something to present the snacks in a less messy way was heard. Yet, after Amy stood up but before she could fetch the requested items, another pair of visits decided to enter the apartment! None other than the twins, who brought a pretty big cake alongside them!
For now, Amelie seemed to be pretty happy at the blondes' entrance. Or maybe she had just looked for an opening to tease her friends. "Sounds like a pretty rocky journey. Japanese hornets can be really mean, you know? There's a video on Youtube about how thirty or so hornets wipe out an entire bee colony in record time, and then feast on their young. Pretty savage, if you ask me."
Interesting bit of trivia aside, it wasn't like Amy was excited about getting stung either, even if her distaste for flying stingers didn't quite reach Kath's level.
That didn't matter at the moment, though. What mattered was the delicious bunch of sweetness in front of her. "But yeah, don't worry! Any cake's fine, but a cake made by a close friend is even better!" A pretty wide smile was directed at Elsie right afterward. "Thank you very much for going through the effort of baking it for me. I really appreciate it!"
After some moments, item itself was now resting on the dining room's table, and that could only make her wonder. "Would you prefer to eat Katherine's snacks first, or maybe Elsie and Evie's cake? I can't quite decide." Not really a painful quandary, but still! "What do you feel like eating? Or maybe do you want to eat proper food before moving to stuff that'll spoil our appetite?"
Night was falling, and the fact that most, if not all of the girls didn't have dinner yet was pretty obvious. What would they do? In any case, the fact stood that the sisters were still standing up. "Make yourselves comfortable! Considering how you didn't even have to knock, I guess that saying that my home's your home is a bit of an understatement."
Once everyone had taken their seats and the eating arrangements have been decided, the young woman would proceed to do the same. "So, what you all have been up to? Maybe it's just me, but it feels like things have been pretty busy as of late. Or maybe it's just the age getting to me." A purposefully exaggerated shrug punctuated the sentence. Truth was that, while she considered the four girls close friends, they didn't have the opportunity to hang out as much in the recent times.
Maybe they had been working on interesting stuff! Or maybe not, who knows.

"I've seen that video," Elsie hissed, wide-eyed. Of course she did. Evie made her watch it! "They're terrifying!" Meanwhile, Evie made a gesture of checking to make sure they had fully closed the door, to reassure both her sister and Katherine. "I don't think I could ever like hornets!" Just wait for the surprise Elsie would be in for, if she ever DNA digivolved with her sister at Ultimate level.
She probably wouldn't be able to stop feeling creepy-crawly for months.
But, now the wild-haired blonde found herself blushing at the gratitude for her baking! And, Katherine was okay with the cake too! She'd gotten lucky! "No problem," she mumbled, in a slightly embarrassed manner. Was she actually shy about this? So, she could share food with random boys in school, but not friends that were building a city with her? Weird logic.
"You're just lucky I convinced her to go with the chocolate cream cake, instead of the sauerkraut one." Well, if anyone was going to make Elsie more embarrassed, it would have to be her sister!
Puffing her cheeks, Elsie quickly responded with, "you know those cakes are super popular, right? You can't even taste the sauerkraut."
"Sauerkraut smells awful."
"Not when it's in a cake! It's like putting Cola in cake!" It seemed the twins could never quite agree on food. But, at least they weren't subjecting anyone else to the potentially weird concept of adding such a substance to a baked good! Instead, it seemed that it was just chocolate cream. Surely, something that nobody who liked chocolate would complain on!
Luckily, Amelie wouldn't let them debate it too long, considering there were important questions about the food! Which would they want to eat first? Neither sibling seemed to know! "Are we planning on eatin' normal food?" Some people just chose to party by binge-eating junk food, after all! Which, either way, Elsie was not going to complain!
Taking the offer to sit, Evie picked the couch, while Elsie dropped down near Jazz. "What do you prefer, Amy? It's your birthday, after all!" Wouldn't it be rude for them to choose?
"Or, we could just put all the food out and eat everything at once," the red-eyed girl suggested. There was no harm in eating everything in sight, right? Turning attention to Jazz and Katherine, she had to inquire, "what d'you both think?" Maybe, everyone would end up having different opinions on what to eat first!

Seeing Amelie show that smile just made Katherine and Jazz’s heart feel a bit warmer, honestly. Even if she quite didn’t know what it was yet, it seemed like she appreciated the gesture, and that's what was important. If that zeal would remain or vanish as she opened the package remained to be seen.
Originally, Saboro would find a piece of thick cloth. It was a sweater! It was of a light purple color, the design of white flowers engraved around it. It was a cute, simple design, but charming enough. However, the Frenchwoman would quickly notice there was something solid beneath that. The sweater was actually wrapped around something! Upon unfolding the first part of her gift, she would notice the fabric was extremely soft.
“I found that in a shop around Whitewater and thought it would look adorable on you, Shisei. So I convinced Jasso to buy it.” Jazz noted while she looked at her friend unfold the sweater. “I picked it a couple of sizes above mine, so it should fit well enough.” Katherine added to that.
However, there was a second part to that gift.
“We thought that would be enough for your birthday but... we recently were at a place where I found something that made me think of as soon as I saw it.”
And that was what lied beneath the sweater. It was… a book. It had a very thick, solid red velvet cover. It had a lock on its right side. The key to that lock was also wrapped around the sweater. It was a small, black key.
“When I met you, I remember you told me…” Katherine reminisced, placing her index finger on her lower lip.
"So I guess that I've been doing stuff in here for a year or so, more or less. I'm just too lazy to keep a diary or something, as handful as that would be."
The curly-haired girl stood up to properly show her friend what this was about. Jazz stood up right after, too. She just needed to see the look on her face when the Spaniard explained how it worked.
“This is a diary… of some sort. It’s actually called a Trip Journal.” The teenager rephrased. “You just need to turn it on and…” The green-eyed pushed a little green switch placed in the lower part of the book. Then, once Amy unlocked the journal, it will reveal…
A very small, holographic digimon with a scarf, a coat, and a giant backpack, standing on top of the first page. He was… writing.
What, exactly? Well...
“Day 1: It is my birthday. The journal was opened, I stared at the Tripmon writing on it along with Katherine and Jazz…”
He was actually documenting what Amelie was doing!
Once the journal was closed, Katherine would keep explaining.
“You can talk to him and tell him about you so the experience is personalized. He will save the names of your friends and people you know. I already told him the journal was for you and told him some of the names of your friends, including Jazz and myself. I also told him it was your birthday." She was trying to give as many details as possible, so Amy could understand how the thing worked. "Tripmon is constantly scanning what is happening around you and writing, even if the journal is closed. This means he will document everything happening around you.”
Katherine explained, honestly feeling a bit proud of her gift.
Jazz was no different. “When you can’t remember what happened or at what time it happened, you can just roughly describe the situation to him and he will look for that entry in the journal. It’s super useful!” A smile accompanied the end of that sentence.
“I found it in Bastian’s warehouse. I think there aren’t many like those in the Digital World. At least I haven’t seen anything like it. I think it'll be useful for you since you are someone very busy, so it will help you keep track of everything you do. Since you write these articles about the things you do, this can help you remember exactly what happened, so the article is more precise.” At this point, it should be obvious Katherine was almost boasting from having come up with this birthday gift, even if it was also a matter of luck. It felt very special for her. After all, it was something not many people had, if any.
They could talk more about that gift later, though. Evie and Elsie had arrived.
After cringing at the idea of hornets eating bees (which in her head were just bugs eating more bugs) Katherine took a sit back on the floor, around the coffee table again. “I definitely wouldn’t want to see that.” even when her curiosity was not up for debate, she knew better than watching things on the internet that would make her feel uncomfortable. Well, most of the times she did, at least.
Even when she didn’t like the premise of smelly food, Katherine had tasted this potential cake ingredient the twins were debating on. “I remember eating Sauerkraut in a short trip my parents and I did to Lublin some years ago.” However, she seemed to be musing about the dish. It was not like the idea of putting that in a cake sounded completely appalling for her, but it was a bit... uncouth. “I remember eating it with pork, though. Never thought it could be used in a cake…” She directed a tilt of her head at Elsie. “I sure would like to try it, though!” She finished with a smirk.
Other than that, the red-eyed girl's idea on what they should eat first sounded kind of… gastronomically chaotic, to say the least. Not like it was too different from how she had proved to be. And that was fine, ultimately. Katherine let out a giggle. “I mean; I know Jazz would love eating a little bit of everything at once so… it’s just a matter of seeing if Amelie thinks that’s okay.”

It seemed like the gift that Katherine and Jazz had prepared was a two-parter! The sweater was being used as wrapping for… something that felt like a book? Of course, the explanation of both items was soon to follow. Amelie listened to it raptly, and even witnessed the demonstration of how the journal worked with a measure of wonder; a pretty neat gift, no doubt!
"Whoa, it'll surely come in handy! That Bastian guy is really resourceful. Can only imagine the other things he might have in his warehouse if you found this one."
For a Ballistamon that had been in the run, it sure sounded like he had quite the collection of items! However, that wasn't an overly important topic, especially not since the twins had arrived. After making sure to properly store both gifts, the reunion between all the intended attendees ensued, along with the small conversation regarding wasps. It seemed like nobody was big on them, with the notable examples of Elsie and Katherine.
"I think that wasps are okay." She said, in hopes of probably moving away from the topic. It seemed awkward for pretty much everyone! "As long as they are nowhere near me. Or don't plan on stinging me, for that matter. Who knows, maybe somebody you'll find a friendly wasp digimon or something."
With the topic hopefully behind, what came next were the potential flavors of the cake Elsie baked; to say the least, the options had been very different!
"Sauerkraut was the alternative, huh?" Was it weird that the word had piqued the brunette's curiosity? Probably! "I didn't know you could get that kind of food here, in Japan! Or were you planning on making it yourself? Going so far just to make a cake for me would've been super flattering!"
Did that mean that she was favoring Elsie's position? Kinda, but it wasn't like her words weren't true! Going through the process of fermenting cabbage would probably have taken quite a bit of effort.
Speaking of which. What were they doing for their dinner? At least the popular vote seemed to favor just eating whatever was available in the order everyone wanted to. Kinda weird, but…
"If that's what everyone wants, I guess we can do that. No problem on my side! Let's just set everything up, then. If you want anything that's not here, just tell me! I'll try to get it if I can."
Given how efficient the girls were, it wouldn't take a lot of time to set everything up, maybe five minutes at most! Not like the girls couldn't eat in the meantime if they wanted to, anyway.
"There you go." Once everything was set up, Amy went towards the fridge to get the enough drinks fitting for the occasion. It went without saying that she was already pouring beer in her glass moments after sitting. "Since, strangely enough, you three have ignored the question for the first time, I'll ask again. What have you been up to as of late? I won't complain if you're doing other things besides building the city, you know?"
Of course she was teasing them. A generous sip was given after uttering that question.

It was kind of a shame that the twins had missed the reveal of Amy's birthday gift from Katherine! Surely, they both would have taken interest in the talking journal. For completely different reasons, of course. But, since they weren't, neither were any wiser to the presents prior to the presentation of the cake!
Neither twin would comment on the idea of friendly wasps. If wasps weren't friendly in this world, why would they be any different in the Digital one? Surely, it would take some time to prove them wrong. But, who knew? Amy could be right! Or, they could all be mauled by angry wasp monsters. It was a mystery!
Though, Evie would find it a mystery that just about everyone in the room was interested in the concept of sauerkraut cake. Gross. These people had no taste! Cola cake, Evie could live with. Sauerkraut cake? Not so much!
"There's a market not far from our house that sells sauerkraut, actually!" Elsie informed, a little too excitedly. And then, a less excited addition of, "Evie would never let me make sauerkraut in the house. I'm pretty sure she'd sabotage it, or somethin'." To this, the prim and proper twin gave a small nod. Yes. Yes, she would definitely ruin any chance of sauerkraut entering their household.
"It's more normal when it's served with pork or sausage, but some people think it adds moisture and a nice flavor to cakes. I can't say that I agree." After all, sauerkraut was still sauerkraut. Evie didn't really want a cake full of it!
Even though Evie found it a little odd to put out all the food choices at once, she wasn't going to argue with the majority. At least that meant she could pick whatever she wanted from the options without seeming like a fussy eater! Almost immediately, the green eyed twin would move to help Amelie set up all the food choices. And, to analyse which options looked the most interesting, while assisting!
But, soon enough, the food would all be placed and everyone would be able to sit again and get comfortable! Though, neither twin was entirely certain what drink to select, so Evie just avoided looking toward the beverages entirely, while Elsie leaned to look at her options. What were the options, exactly? Apparently, beer was a pretty obvious one, considering what Amelie had! But, likely not a candidate for the twins. Especially since Evie didn't seem the beer-drinking type.
Hearing that they had missed the question earlier, Elsie paled, but continued to debate her beverage options, allowing for the more polite twin to answer. "We haven't been up to much! Elsie recently joined me in the student council, at school. So, I suppose, it's mostly just been getting her, and the new club members, acclimated. We haven't done much in the Digital World, lately. Though we probably should soon." That didn't sound very exciting, overall! Ah well. Maybe the twins weren't overly exciting people!
But, what about Jazz and Katherine? They had to be up to some far more exciting stuff! Right?

Was that… everything she had to say? It was not like Amelie had been absolutely interrupted by Elsie and Evie’s arrival. And even if she was, she could have said something else once she welcomed the twins. She did not even say anything about the sweater! Did not even issue a comment. Nothing.
And what about the book?
This was a journal Katherine had especially gotten for her friend based on something she said the day they met itself, over three months ago! And she could only call it… ‘handy’? For a second or two, Katherine’s mouth was just… open. She could not believe this! Her friend did not care at all about her gift! Was it really that lame? She thought it was awesome! Even when she had stopped to consider maybe Amy would not find it very useful, she always concluded the blue-eyed would at least appreciate all of the efforts Katherine and Jazz put into getting that kind of gift.
This was… terrible. This was the absolute worst!
While she managed to issue some comments about bugs and food, just because the twins were not at fault for Amelie being so ungrateful, she still remained quiet for good chunks of time, just… thinking. What did she do wrong? She looked at Jazz a couple of times. The holosuited digimon looked back at her, wrinkling her mouth. She knew exactly what was troubling Katherine, but it was not like she could do anything about it.
As time passed, Katherine just grew more and more annoyed at this situation. It even made her angry that she was letting it affect her this much. Ugh!!!
She needed to scream into a pillow. Right now.
But she wouldn’t. Instead, she would only fold her arms and listen to the conversation develop. Jazz, on her side, didn’t seem to be that upset about Amelie being ice cold about their gift, so she managed to keep up with it a bit.
In any case, both girls would help out setting everything up and placing different kinds of snacks, food, and desserts over the table. Katherine immediately went to pour some vodka and lemon juice into a glass, looking to make one of the very simple cocktails she had learned to prepare not long ago. She would later deal with the fact that she was now practically an old lady, drinking to run from her internal frustration! Right now, she could only think maybe being drunk would help her not feel like absolute crap.
Meanwhile, it would be Jazz who would answer Amelie’s question, consider she was the one who did not want to cry her eyes out.
Before that, though, she would actually address Evie's comment. “Is human school fun?” The brunette asked, leaning closer to the green-eyed twin. “The last time I was in this world I watched some TV show about humans going to school. It looks fun! Jasso promised she would take me but… We’ve just been so busy…” A sigh punctuated this sentence. “No different than when she promised me she would take me to a hot spring, and she still hasn’t.”
What would the Spaniard reply to this? Absolutely nothing. She just kept drinking from her glass.
Now, about, what they had been doing…
“Well… you know pretty much everything we’ve been up to, Shisei. You’re actually a pretty important part of it. So there really isn’t much we could tell you.” For a second, her eyes drifted to Elsie and Evie. “And I really feel like telling all of that story to the rest of the group would take too long. It could even make things… How does Jasso call it? ‘Tense’?” The whole thing with the Dark Army and the Zoid Gems was definitely not a topic for a birthday. Even Jazz, who was new at birthdays, knew that.
So… bottom line, yes, Katherine and Jazz were up to some exciting stuff but I’m not going to type all of that story again, it was really not a fun topic.
However… what was kind of fun was…
“Oh! Jasso wants to dye her hair!” Jazz blurted out. “Right?” Instead of the expected reaction, which would be Katherine being upset from her mentioning something like that out of the blue, when it wasn’t completely true, the green-eyed would only issue a sigh.
Not. In. The. Mood.

The fact that sauerkraut could be readily acquired in Japan was among the biggest reveals the girl had gotten that day. Those were wonderful news! "You definitely have to point me towards that market. If there's other classical German stuff, I'd love to get my hands on some of it!"
It was a pity that the twin with cooking aspirations couldn't let them bloom in their full potential, but there wasn't a lot she could say about the whole deal. Evie seemed like a pretty tough customer when it came to foods! That was probably a good thing, as it meant that Elsie standards must've been fairly high as a result. Or maybe not, who knew! In any case...
"I agree with you though. It's probably better with meat than as a dessert, but I can't say I oppose the idea of trying new things when the situation arises. Sides, even if it ends up being horrible, at least it'll be a funny anecdote to tell in the future! A person never has enough of those, at least in my opinion."
Curiosity kills the cat, as they say. But a life without possibly catastrophic situations was probably a very boring one, wasn't it? Amelie took notice of Katherine's sudden change of demeanor, and couldn't but wonder what was the reason? What could be wrong? A somewhat pensive expression crossed her face before she got around actually asking.
"Is everything alright, Curls? Not liking the food, or something? I can get something else if you want. Should've just asked for it!"
The lives of both pairs seemed decently interesting. For a second, the brunette had pretty much forgotten than the three girls were still high-schoolers. Was it okay for her to hang out with them when they were so young? Considering that she had been offering the lot of them alcohol probably meant she wasn't the best influence...
But that topic was something not as important at the moment. What mattered right now was enjoying themselves! As long as it wasn't highly illegal, they'd be fine. "I'm glad to hear you're all doing very well." Once again, Amy took the opportunity to pour herself another glass, all the while eyeing Evie's mild indecisiveness. Was she searching for anything in particular? Chances were that she'd find most mainstream drinks in somewhat disorderly fashion on the table. It was just a matter of looking!
"I remember my high school years. They were pretty entertaining, even though I didn't have the chance of joining any clubs and the like. Perks of being constantly on the move, I guess; how's the council? By the sound of it, it seems like you have a pretty important role there, Evie. President even, maybe?"
She purposefully avoided talking about the Digital World, at least for that day. The reason? Affairs there were about to get messy, and that was to say the least! Definitely, something she wanted to keep her mind off for the time being.
The girl remained silent for several seconds, silently agreeing with Jazz just before a bit of a sly smile made its way over her face. It was almost like the disguised digimon could read her mind! "You know, about that..."
From the back pocket of her jeans, she produced what looked like one fancy ticket. "Ooi thought it'd be a good birthday present. It's basically a free ticket to enter some very exclusive hot springs that aren't that far from here. They're open the whole day, so we could get there if you really want!"
And, before any of them said it. Even if they probably wouldn't. "She told me to either go on my own or with others, because she doesn't fancy getting naked and wet in semi-public places, but I guess that each to their own! So, what do you all say? We can probably finish our dinner and go there if you're game."

"Deal. I can go with you, sometime!" Elsie offered, a little too excitedly. Anything to get more sauerkraut without Evie stuffing it back onto the shelf before they reached the checkout, really. Plus, shopping with company was so much more fun than doing it all alone!
While the twins didn't really know Katherine enough to notice the change in demeanor, it seemed that Amy had. After helping out with putting foods out, both blondes looked to Katherine at the question that had been posed. Was something wrong? Had they missed out on something, before arriving? It was hard to tell at this point in time. Maybe, if Katherine didn't hide whatever was bothering her, they'd be able to find out soon enough! Or not. More than likely, the tamer wouldn't just blurt out her problems. Most people didn't, after all!
Hearing Jazz's inquiry on schooling, however, both twins would be quick to answer.
"Yes!" "God, no."
Even if the question wasn't directed at her, Elsie had to put in her two cents on the place! "It's so boring! You should thank Katherine for not dragging you there!" Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe, it was unknowingly saving Kath from trying to control a Digimon in a school setting.
"I enjoy it!" Evie disagreed with her sister's opinion, clearly. "You learn about a lot of things, and you meet a lot of new people." Were new people always good? "There's rarely a dull moment, if you know where to look!" Or, where to eavesdrop, more accurately!
But, Evie seemed the type to find such a setting more entertaining. Which, was why Amy was spot-on with her guess on her role in the council! "How could you guess?" Probably because Evie actually liked school. Not many people liked it enough to want to run important groups in it! "I'd like to see if we have the funds to set up a nice class trip somewhere. But I can't decide where. Or what our budget can handle." To this, the green eyed girl looked to her sister. "But, Elsie should be able to help me figure that out! She's our treasurer, after all." And to this, a groan came from the treasurer. Oh, joy. Working outside of school, even!
"Do you have any suggestions for places to take the class?" Sure, Amy wouldn't be dragged along for the trip! But, maybe someone in the room would have a good idea of someplace to sight-see! And, maybe, to make Jazz more hyped about schools going other places!
Though, the twins were pretty relieved that there wouldn't be any tense explanations of what was going on in Jazz and Katherine's lives. This was a party! Not a time to get up in arms about who-knows-what! Instead, the twin who obviously had a biased opinion toward hair dye was going to focus on that! Looking to Katherine, with clear interest in the subject, the twin with red-tipped hair tapped her index finger on her lip, thoughtfully. "What color are ya thinking?" Blue? Maybe a silver? Would it be all of her hair, or just a bit?
Or, none of it at all, judging from that grumpy expression on her face!
Finally, going for a random drink, Elsie began sipping on the first unopened beverage she found. Though, it didn't seem that she had grabbed anything for Evie. Was the prim and proper twin just too good to be drinking? Maybe someone would be able to find a way to fix that. But, Elsie didn't plan to be that someone, it seemed! Taking a sip of her drink, the red eyed girl listened to Amy talk-up the idea of hot springs. Naked and wet. Uhhh...
Did Amelie really have to word it that way?
Flashy a coy smile to her sibling, Evie leaned forward. "That sounds like so much fun! Jazz, you'll love it." Hype train! Did Evie really care about hotsprings? Not in the slightest. But she looked like she did! "Hotsprings are so relaxing." Just keep talking it up! Or, let her sister finally give a response.
Which, unsurprisingly, was to just agree with the birthday girl's plans! "Yeah, that sounds good." Right. Good. Either way, she'd assume Jazz would be excited. Would Katherine finally show a little emotion to the plans? Or, would she keep being huffy?

Upon being addressed by Amelie, Katherine's eyes just shifted towards her friend, the palm of her hand still resting under her chin. Showing a very serious expression, she shook her head. Had someone died? Her face could very much be the reflection of something like that. "I'm okay."
How in the world could Amelie not know? She was pretty smart! Was she really that oblivious about her friend's feelings? Or did she just not care? Ugh!
Even if there was a trace of anger in her eyes when she 'answered' Amy's inquiry, Katherine managed to show plain seriousness to Evie. She was not mad at her, and it would be kind of unfair to give her the cold shoulder because of what Amy did. It was not, by any means, her fault. Still, that did not mean she could just show a smile out of nowhere in a moment like this.
"I was thinking about electric blue. Although Jazz suggested lilac and... I've been thinking about that, too." Slowly, she started moving her whole body to face Elsie. "If I tried those types of colors, maybe I would like something a bit darker like..." After a pause, Katherine made a sound Elsie would probably not quite pick up. "... añil."
Immediately, she placed three fingers over her lips. "S-Sorry. I meant..." Another pause, this time, she seemed to be thinking. Looking for a word, even. "... I really don't know the name of that color in Japanese, English or German." So many languages, yet not a word to describe the color she was talking about. "Some name it 'indigo' but... that's not quite it. I guess I could..." Katherine took her cellphone out of her pocket. Did she feel happy now? Not quite! But it definitely seemed like this conversation was helping her keep her mind away from... you know. While she browsed the internet for an image of the color she wanted to show Elsie, you could tell she was pretty invested in their little talk.
"That sounds so cool!" Meanwhile, Jazz was having her own share of fun listening to Evie talk about school. Actually, Katherine was one of those who thought school was fun, even if she had never met anyone in there. But she was mostly aware that was her fault. "I can't wait until I can go to school with Jasso, then!" Those would be fun days.
Anything was funnier than fighting for your life against an evil army of digital creatures and being sad at your friend's birthday because she did not care about the best gift you had ever give to anyone, really.
It was Amy's suggestion what brought both conversations to be interrupted. The girl and the bunny, who were still talking to one of the twins each, would turn their heads to see the blue-eyed.
Jazz, of course, was the first to say anything, once Evie and Elsie had chipped in with her own opinion. "B-But... Jasso said I couldn't get naked when there are other people around. Trust me, I tried." Her index finger tipping her lower lip, the brunette stated.
"If it's in a hot spring, it's okay for you to be naked in front of people who are not me." Katherine explained after letting out a sigh. "I know it's a part of Japanese culture but..." Well there was a reason why she had not ever taken Jazz to one. Jasso had not ever gone to a hot spring herself!
Was she going to be wet and naked in front of Elsie and Evie? Oh god. Well, time to take something from the culture of the country where she had been living for a couple of years for once, right? "... I guess it's okay." She had heard those were pretty relaxing, after all.
"I'm ready!" And, of course, Jazz had started undressing already. While she tried to slide that pink blouse over her head, her tamer had to stop her immediately.
"Wait until we get there!"
WELL! It was a chance for her to not wear something as uncomfortable as clothes. Who could blame her?
Probably many people.
"What about all of these things? Are taking them with us, or are we going to have food and drinks there too?" Jazz inquired, staring idly at all of the consumables that were in Amy's living room.
Once they were ready to go, Katherine and Jazz would follow suit.

It seemed like Elsie and Amelie had found some common ground to bond over. Taste over food and no qualms on experimenting in the kitchen when necessary looked like something that the two girls shared; sure, the blonde seemed to be a step ahead regarding how far she could go when experimenting, but that was fine. For once, she didn't mind being the pioneer in the area.
"Deal. I'm looking forward to it already!" A big smile was forming on the girl's face at the prospect. Was it too childish? Maybe, but that wasn't something she was afraid of displaying on the day of her birthday.
What about Katherine? Amy knew that something was amiss, even if she couldn't quite tell what. And the dark-haired girl seemed to be unwilling to tell her what was the matter as well, preferring to hide behind the emptiest statement the brunette had heard in a while. Not something she fancied, but if that was the game she wanted to play...
"Alrighty. If you say so..." Her expression denoted the slightest amount of worry. "You know there's no need to hide how you feel, though. If you want to let it out, feel free." Probably good enough!
Talk about a wild guess going right, even if that wasn't exactly a hard one. Evie being part of the student council didn't come as much of a surprise to Amy. "Well, you kinda look like somebody that would excel at a role like that. Focused, reliable, clever. You kinda check all the boxes."
While that could've looked like flattery to anyone else, the brunette meant the words she said. Thus far, the blonde had proven to be a very capable ally. What came to a surprise to her, however, was that Elsie was also in there, and that she occupied a position that had a lot to do with accountability, of all things. A raised eyebrow was the initial reaction issued to that statement; luckily, the wild-haired teen seemed to be pretty busy chatting with Katherine about hair colors to notice her reaction.
Probably. Anyway! Regarding the trip. "I've heard that Sendai had the most impressive fireworks during Tanabata from an acquaintance. A worthwhile visit, if you ask me; I've been meaning to go there when the date hits, but... I don't know how adequate is something like that for a school trip? If you want a more... didactic experience, I'd probably go to Hiroshima, though. The museum over there is amazing." Hopefully, her advice would be helpful, even if it wasn't really a deal-breaker if it wasn't.
Onto what mattered, it seemed like the plan to go to the hot springs was a go! After Jazz's confusion regarding the whole was cleared, but before any clothes laid sprawled on the girl's living room, no less. However, it seemed like some doubts remained; time to address them!
"No drinks nor food allowed there, sadly. Not unless provided by the springs' staff, that is. I've heard that you can get some sake to be delivered in a fancy bucket while you're bathing, but it's recommended that you don't drink a lot inside the springs for safety reasons or whatever. Speaking of which..."
Unceremoniously, the birthday girl poured a glass of beer and slowly slid it towards the only person who hadn't drunk of a drop of anything thus far. "You know, considering how Germans usually love their beer, I find it a bit baffling that you haven't had anything thus far." Of course, this wasn't Germany anymore, but what happened behind closed doors wasn't anyone's business, sides themselves'. "Maybe you're younger than fourteen? That's usually the age people start drinking there."
Another possibility crossed her mind, even if that one was a bit unrealistic. "That or... maybe you don't like beer? But that's as unlikely as the French not being smug about literally everything or Spaniards not liking killing bulls for sport." Quite the statement, honestly! Hopefully it'd be perceived as teasing and not as anything serious. In any case...
"That said, you should all eat and drink until you're satisfied since we'll get an appetizer at best there. I know for sure I'm at least eating some more, but if you're already satisfied, you can begin getting ready and stuff. I need to do some cleanup regarding the table and properly take care of the nice things you've given to me."
But that'd be too boring to narrate, so... By now, the five girls were all comfortably inside Amy's car, and ready to go to the luxurious resort where they'd spend the rest of the night. "Hope you're all ready!"
They'd have to share approximately half an hour on a car, so they hopefully were prepared to deal with each other! "Hope you're ready to begin with the party's main event! The most ancient party game ever; truth or dare. Who wants to play? I even volunteer to be the first victim if anyone feels like doing it."

Even Elsie noticed the response that Kath gave to Amy felt a little off! While her sister continued on with fully ignoring the conversation, Elsie scrunched her nose a little. Should she say something? Since Evie didn't want to acknowledge the existence of the conversation at all, Elsie decided to try to follow suit. For the time being, at least!
Especially since Katherine was so willing to participate in hair dye topics, instead! "Hmm," the teen hummed, "indigo could work! It's kinda like... a dark mix of blue and lilac, y'know?" Sort of. If Lilac was actually dark purple, it would work better. But, still! As Katherine went through her phone for images, the red-eyed teen leaned over to be near Kath's shoulder, peeking at the images that might pop up. And, entirely oblivious to the concept of personal space!
Which, meant that everyone else could discuss school without Elsie's negative inputs!
"If Katherine won't take you, you can always come with us!" Would Katherine permit such a thing? Probably not. Did Evie know that? Most definitely. Kath seemed a bit on the strict side. So, why not try to shake things up a little bit? Though, would that check any of the student council president boxes? 'Tries to bring digimon dressed up like people to school without their tamer's permission'? Eh, sure. Why not?
Giving a thoughtful hum, the twin ignored that expression that was directed at Elsie being part of the student council. She had her reasons for putting her there! Just like everyone else, in a way! And, Evie wasn't too keen on giving out all her secrets! So, this one would remain a mystery for the brunette. "Fireworks or museums," she mused, "I can bring up both options to the council, and see what they like best."
"Fireworks," the other blonde chimed, obviously, while still paying primary attention to Katherine. Of course she was going to have an ear on the conversation! She didn't want Amy trying to put them in some sort of ultra boring place like a museum! What kind of school trip was that? Learning? Ugh.
But, with the topics shifting, Elsie would also shift to give Katherine some probably much-needed personal space, and took another sip of her drink. "Don't worry, Jazz. Evie doesn't let me get naked in public, either." This was said so casually that anyone that heard it had to wonder if there was actually a story there, or if the teen was just saying it to be funny. To add onto it, the prim-and-proper twin just gave a small nod and shrug to the comment.
Maybe, Germans were just a bit more... liberal with showing off their bodies.
Maybe, it was just Elsie.
But, how about being liberal when it came to drinking? Did that count? But, before she could answer, Elsie provided her own statement. "She's just a beer snob, and doesn't like having any fun." Well, that was one way to put it.
"I wouldn't say that's true," the green eyed girl huffed, puffing her cheeks a little.
Either way, it seemed that Amelie wasn't going to get a proper response for why Evie wasn't drinking! Especially since, now that she was given a glass of alcohol, she had begun consuming it. Perhaps, at a slightly too rapid rate. But, nobody could say she wasn't drinking now!
"She's also really annoying when she's drunk. Head's up."
"You're annoying when you're drunk. I'm factual." Evie couldn't imagine getting drunk on a beer, of all things, though. So, there was no real concern there! She'd rather see everyone else drinking a bit too much, though! So much fun could be had, in that scenario!
Another good question was... What type of drunk would Jazz be? Elsie was so tempted to try to test it, but suspected that it would put Katherine in more of a sour mood, so she decided to refrain. After all, she was trying to cheer the curly haired girl up! Not the opposite!
Soon enough, there would be more drinking and eating, and all those other 'boring narrations' that led to getting into Amy's car. And, then... truth or dare? In a car? How could anyone do anything hilarious?
They'd probably find out soon enough.
"We're in!" Elsie volunteered for both twins, but wasn't sure where to start on questions-and-dares! So, first, she'd wait and see if the others in the car would join in. "What about you guys? You up for it?"
...Did Jazz even know how to play Truth or Dare?

Although Hispanic culture was known for being definitely a lot more physically affective than Japanese culture overall, Katherine was pretty much the exception to that rule. Not because she did not want to be physically affective, but mainly because she had never had any friend to be physically affective towards. That is exactly why she was a bit startled at Elsie’s no respect of physical space, even if she was not actually against it. Other than that, she really liked this! Being able to talk with another girl about this kind of stuff was something she definitely needed to do more often. As she browsed through the images of that internet search, she debated about the actual color she was looking for. Indigo was pretty nice, even if it was not exactly what she was looking for. Worst case scenario, she could probably reach the color she was looking for by showing it to whoever dyed her hair! This was a project for the future, anyway, so long time until that happened. “Museum.” The Spaniard muttered right at the same time Elsie had said “Fireworks”. She was paying attention to that conversation too! Even if her words would probably not be heard by anyone but Elsie, who was really close to her! “Maybe…” Jazz, on her side, knew that the reason why Katherine would not allow that was not because she was strict in terms of discipline or anything, but because she was VERY JEALOUS WHEN IT CAME TO JAZZ BEING CLOSE TO OTHERS. And that was exactly why there was a smug expression on the holosuited digimon’s face. If her tamer did not want to take her to school, she would just threaten to go with someone else, and then she would definitely take her, just to not let her hang with other people. And Jazz was fine with that. She did not mind Jasso being absolutely possessive with her as long as she could get what she wanted. Someone ‘factual’ did not sound like someone fun to be around when you’re drunk, by the way. Even Katherine knew this. The green-eyes stiffed a quiet laugh behind her hand at this exchange. Once the avoiding Jazz getting naked, the eating, and the drinking were out of the way, the group of girls found themselves inside Amy’s car, in their way to the hot spring, where they were set to spend the rest of the evening. How was the group’s distribution in said car? Since that has not been explained before I’ll just decide myself, it’s probably important to state Jazz was in the front seat (just because she insisted a lot, making the whole group cross fingers and hope Amelie had no inconvenient while driving) and the other three members of this coalition were in the back, Katherine right at the middle of the twins. And no, the co-pilot had no idea of what truth or dare was. She seemed very excited about playing, though. “Yes! Yes! Let’s play!”“Umm… Sure.” Katherine nodded at Elsie’s offer. Secretly, the green-eyes had always wondered how it was like to be part of these types of game. Even if she knew the theory, she had never played before either. Did she have too many beers at Amelie's place? “Tell me the rules of truth or dare, Jasso!” Jazz pointed her index finger up, demanding answers! “Right.” The curly-haired let out a sigh, knowing her partner was the main reason why this game was so dangerous. “I think you have to ask her a hard-to-answer question or dare her to do something.”“What is the exact distance from the earth to the sun!?”“Not that type of hard question. Something she would feel embarrassed ab-““Oh, oh! Never mind! KISS SOMEONE, SHISEI! I WANT TO SEE A KISS!” y e l l i n g “W-Wait! I think she’s supposed to pick 'truth' or 'dare' first, to decide if you should ask her an embarrassing question or dare her to do something.”“Ugh! Why is this so slow!?”“I’m sorry.” Katherine bowed her head down, muttering an apology and explaining Jazz’s behavior to the whole car. “She has been a bit obsessed with seeing people kiss for a while.”Although Jazz was, overall, a well-mannered creature, things could get crazy when she was excited about something. Kissing was one of the things that excited her. “Okay, I get it now! What is it going to be, Shisei? Truth or dare?”
Since I would like this thread to finish before 2021, depending on Amy’s answer, Jazz had something prepared for her already. If Amelie picked truth: "If you liked girls that way, who would you date between the four of us and why!?”
T-That was…!
... Surprisingly, not a bad question for truth or dare. Was Jazz good at this? If Amelie picked dare: "KISS SOMEONE SO I CAN SEE. RIGHT ON THE LIPS.”
Of course.
