K grinned from ear to ear and leaned forward to reach out to tap the mikemon's nose playfully. Though there was a hint of sadness in the renamon's eyes. A certain luster that wouldn't go away, perhaps she knew something, perhaps she didn't. Perhaps there was a force that was pulling her away from the rest that she deserved at this point.
"Heh. If the inn and doctoring didn't work out, or the knight stuff I bet I could of been a personal cook for some high and mighty lord eh?"
The renamon snickered marvelously and shook her head, it was another thought. Another life that she would never have, another line of people that would never come to be or events that didn't come to pass. Honestly she'd look quite good in a chef's outfit wouldn't she? Then at the question K drummed her fingers on the table thoughtfully.
"Not really, stretch out a bit. Cuddle. Relax. Take things nice and slow."
K flicked her ears a bit as silence once again addressed her, suggesting that yes she should rest if only to conserve the energy that she had just taken in as they would likely need it soon. K's expression grew quizzical and she'd cock her head to one side as though listening to someone. She'd mumble under her breath and scowl lightly.
"...Something to do with toki huh? I swear..."

An inn, a doctor, a knight, a cook... with K's hundreds of years of experience, what couldn't she do at this point? Chuckling at the thought of K simmering something for a Lord, the cat reclined on back, truly at a loss of what to do over such a short span of time.
This week, he was so full of ideas, and a life with K would have been full to the brim, so why was he coming up empty on the last one? He shook his head, clearing his mind of those thoughts, as he listened to what K actually wanted to do. Relax, cuddle, probably talk - alright, Mikemon could indulge her with that much. He'd reach up and scritch down the fox's back, about to dole her with a bit of a flirting tone - but something was off.
She was distracted, once more, by Silence. The cat blinked as K mentioned Toki, of all things. "Hm? He's the... one who saw the Turtle sovereign, right?" That sounded about right - he tilted his head in confusion. "Do you know what's wrong?"

Honestly every single one of those options were something that could of been cosnidered. A life that she could of lived, it would of been amusing she supposed to do that. After all she had put others before herself practically endlessly. K thankfully didn't struggle for what she wanted to do with her husband.
She'd flick her ears and lean into that scratching down her back, even if she was distracted by silence. She'd frown lightly at the mention that he was the one that had seen the turtle sovereign? What on...
"...He saw one of the sovereigns? This is news to me."
K blinked slowly and closed her eyes, allowing Silence to start explaining herself. How she could sense something was the matter with their friend, something dire. Some connection that they had was making it possible and if they didn't do something well... Toki would no longer be toki. K gritted her teeth and then slowly explained to her husband what Silence had shared.
"So basically a hunch that something's wrong... do me a favor and check the mission guild postings."
She wished she was wrong, she begged the world to let her have a few long hours with her husband. She hoped that silence was incorrect but if he wasn't well... K knew what she had to do, and it was going to cost the both of them the scant amount of time that they had.

"Trust me, that war in the forest made a lot of crazy shit happen, K." Mikemon shook his head, continuing to knead his fingers into K's back. It was clear that the tone in the room had changed. Silence had a hunch, and that hunch was in regards to Toki.
"K... ugh." He wasn't going to argue it. He pulled out his D-Terminal, and flipped through the recent mission boards. Honestly, he wished that he found nothing, but right there at the top of the high-rank boards was a high profile mission. And with a click of a button, the recording played out in front of both of them.
Toki's father called out for help, desperately trying to find his son out in the Blossom Isles - and at this point, only Mae had signed up to take the job. The cat bit his lip, looking to the Renamon.
Seeing the stalwart, resolved expression take over her eyes.
"... It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to convince you to let someone else handle it, huh." He gave a sigh, then a short nod.

"Most of it sounded false but... if what you say is true."
She believed him, she had read the reports. She didn't believe them at the time and the renamon sighed softly as there was that tone he took with her. Wanting her to rest. She'd stare at the mission as it was put in front of her, her hand clenching and unclenching.
"No you're not. Put me down for the mission."
K grit her teeth and looked down at her hands, they were shaking lightly. She'd put one of them over the other and then sighed along with her husband. This would be her last act as K to free her friend.
"I won't be able to digivolve as I am. Is there anything that you can do to fix that for a short time? Seeing the mission rating I'll need access to super mega."
K shifted a bit and cupped her husbands cheek with a soft somewhat apologetic smile.
"I know you were looking forward to a few sparse hours together but I need to do this dear."
What else was she supposed to say otherwise? She had a few ideas how she could deal with this next mission, her last and final mission as a knight of the rose. As K. As the mon who had lived a thousand lifetimes... in just a single place. Only to grow so exponentially in the last few of her lifetime.

'Put me down for the mission'
Mikemon hesitated for a bare moment, before giving a nod. A few clicks was all it took, and 'K the Shutmon' would be signed up to join the search to find the wayward spirit wielder. The next point was a bit more concerning, though - his eyes gave a flicker, briefly examining K's still core. Ideally, the core would simply spin faster to allow more energy to flow to the surface, but as the Renamon was now?
"You don't have a normal core now. You don't Digivolve with your keys or even normal means right now - all you can do is exert power and force it through to the surface. Think of it like a bright ball of light, exploding outwards." He gave a sigh. "It should actually be a touch easier. Your core's normal mechanisms to prevent itself from 'wasting' energy don't really work right now. You just have to think about your form, and force yourself to become it."
He bit his lip after that, feeling K's palm rest on his cheek. He realized, then, that this could be the last time that he'd ever see her - and rather than leave it at that regret, the cat leaned in, and planted a kiss right on the Renamon's muzzle.
"Do what you have to do. I know you can pull it off."

K stared at her husband, noting the hesitation he had for all of a moment. The nod that followed and the few clicks well.. She was in this mission now and the renamon stood up, stretching quietly as her husband examined her core. She didn't have a normal core now, she didn't digivolve with her keys or normal means. She had to exert force and power to make it so.
The renamon closed her eyes, noting that yes she could do exactly that but to do so in a hospital might instill a bit of panic. She'd nod her head slowly as he told her more about this, it made sense to her and the renamon eventually grinned lightly at the mikemon when he gave her a kiss on her muzzle. One that she returned tenderly.
"Thank you dear. I'll keep all of that in mind."
A lone hand lingered on the mikemon's cheek for a moment longer after the kiss and with a soft sigh K would step away from her husband. Her cloak billowing behind her with her slow movements as she tugged on her gloves to make herself 'ready'.
"After the mission I'll likely take a portal to vander tower. From there garlond will drop me off at the library."
K smiled sweetly at her husband and the last he'd see of her for a while would be her leaving through the front doors of the hospital...
Just about that time isn't it?
The last thoughts of that mission firmly in her mind the renamon looked around the entry of vander tower. Or more specifically the entry to the portal room, or what amounted to the portal room. With a brief tsk the renamon slowly hobbled her way out of the room to find garlond and joseph waiting there. The latter of the two reading something from the human world while the former seemed to be going over a checklist.
"Ah. Good to see you Ma'am. I presume it went well?"
"Well enough. Portal ready?"
"Joseph?"
"It's been ready for quite some time. I had to triangulate the position of the library. Darned thing moves around a lot."
K gave a firm nod and stepped closer to the both of them, briefly giving joseph a hug who in surprise gave her one back. She'd give a firm handshake to garlond who gave a somewhat toothy smile to her.
"It was an honor ma'am."
"I'll see the both of you around."
"...Thank you K."
K paused and blinked, looking down at her squire. He'd broaden his shoulders a bit and she'd give him a soft nod, they never really had to waste words together. The renamon of course was given her portal back to the library from vander tower. Or more specifically right outside of the residence that she had in it. The renamon pulled open the door and stepped inside, hurring to close it behind her. She could feel her time was close and softly she'd call out to those that would be here in her final hour.
"Mikemon? Syre? Holly?"
Her voice was laced with worry and the bags under her eyes were more prominent. She was starting to feel what the mikemon had told her. Even now her cloak was slowly fading away, bit by bit it was unraveling. It was always the equipment that went first and the renamon could feel the sorrow from the last vestiges of the jesmon within that data.
"We won.. he's safe."

"I'll see you later, K."
He gave a nod and a smile, letting the Renamon go off with confidence out the front door of the hospital, staring towards those double doors for a moment longer. Gritting his teeth, the cat looked back down to that D-Terminal, and set off to work. If this was how things were going to go, he had a few things to take care of... ... Though the specifics of that wouldn't be of concern to the Renamon. Several hours later, well into the afternoon, Mikemon found himself back in the living area, idly looking through some of Holly's research notes over the past few days. The Meicoomon had put an amazing amount of time and effort into this, both in regards to what she could do for her mother and herself. He gave a small smile at that thought, his eyes flicking to the wall clock one more time.
Around 2:30 PM, he'd finally hear that front door open, the fox's labored data signal wafting out into the room. Her voice called out, for her husband and children, a sense of desperation in her words. Immediately, the cat made his way right to the front, seeing the struggling fox limp over in his direction.
She won. Toki was safe. Though good news, it was somehow the furthest thing from Mikemon's mind, the cat giving a small nod. A small glance would give Mikemon all the information he needed: K's core had started to rotate again.
"... We should probably get you a good place to lie down."

"Without any doubt."
She'd say passively, flicking her ears. She knew that she would come back but didn't really think about it too hard. It would be a stressful evening after all. It would be a stressful day one laced with sorrow and sad tidings, but in the end if she won... it was one last act she could be extremely proud of...
And proud of it she was, battered and as broken as she was the renamon managed a hearty smile to the mikemon. She looked disheveled and downtrodden in comparison to how she normally did. There was that slow edging of her cloak and the gloves already had faded into nothingness by the time that her husband said that she should lay down somewhere. Somewhere good. She'd bite her lip a bit and glance at their room.
"...The best place probably would be the bedroom..."
It would hurt him no matter what area they went in, every place would feel dull and lifeless without her. She'd hobble past her husband, and slowly push the door open. Though she seemed extremely hesitant to lay down. There was a soft clattering as her hackmon goggles came off of her head, the straps holding them together already gone, and the two bits of the glass fading away. The renamon brought a hand up to her face and exhaled slowly.
"Syre and Holly?"
She seemed rather resolute to give them a final farewell at the very least...

Right, the bedroom. Mikemon gave a nod, and he'd slowly nod off in that direction, following behind the Renamon every step of the way. Already, unnecessary bits of her data were starting to steam away - goggles, the cloak, even the edges of her gloves. It was then that Mikemon heard something that made his heart twist.
'Syre and Holly?'
Way back when, K mentioned that she didn't want the kids here on the last day - but now that the moment was coming, she wanted nothing more than to see them. He knew where they were, right in Syre's quarters in Vander Tower - and all it took was a small text for their portal to open up just a few feet behind them. Syre would lead, resting her right hand over her left glove, taking a moment to manage to bring her eyes to K.
She seemed so weak, so listless, enough to bring a tear to the cat's eye.
"... Hi mom." She gave a smile, Mikemon giving a nod to the BlackGatomon. "I, um... well. Yeah..."

Most certainly she didn't want to have them see her die, without a lick of a doubt. She wanted to see them before she went, not have them be present for it. K bit her lip quietly and turned her head to see her daughter as the renamon sat on the bed. She felt exhausted, she could feel her core slowly tearing itself apart. All silence could do was watch as the one who taughter her everything was dying. And her with it.
"There... you are. I wanted to at least say goodbye. It's not fair to you if I don't at least give you one last hug right...?"
K managed a weak smile and looked down at her hands, which of course now were shaking like no one's business. Her gloves had completely vanished at this point into their white data. The renamon probably would have about... maybe an hour at this point if she was lucky. Her using so much energy had indeed warped the amount of time she had left.
"I won't... really be gone you know? I'll still be around in here and here..."
K would reach forward to tap syre's head before tapping at where the blackgatomon's core lay. It was soft and gentle, weak and pitiful. She felt everything coming apart. There were no tears for this, no weeping pitiful moaning. Just soft exhausted breaths, and gentle leaning.
And hugs of course.
Now then there was holly. The youngest out of the duo, who of course snuck in after syre. She stared at her ma for the most part, uncertain as to what to say. Her normal peppy self was gone for the moment, lost in the sadness knowing what was coming. She could feel every painful rotation from her ma, she could feel every little thing. The renamon looked up from syre and without even hesitating the little meicoomon tackled her ma, burying her head into the fluff of the renamon's sides. Prompting the fox to place a hand on both hers and syre's back.
"I'm going to miss the both of you very much."

In the end, the mother couldn't help but want to see her daughters one last time. And though neither Holly nor Syre really knew how to hold themselves in this sort of situation, they did the most important thing they could:
They were there. Wracked with grief, guilt, and sadness, they were there. Syre didn't say anything, simply leaning right into that hug, tightly grasping around K's shoulder, feeling that claw tap right against her chest. It was all well and good for her to say that, but even if her memory would be in their hearts...
"M-mom..."
It wasn't just Syre, of course: Holly dove right on in, crying and hugging against the fox's side, as Mikemon looked on a short distance away. He grit his teeth, bringing the back of his arm to his eyes, wiping away the tears that had built up.
"Don't go... don't go..." Syre's words were pleading, hoping against hope that a miracle would come at this late stage. Behind them, the doctor's hands would slowly rest down on both of their daughter's shoulders - opening up into a hug behind them.
This family... how would they ever feel whole again.

K knew that this would hurt, that they would be hurt from this. That they would cry, beg and whine to her that she shouldn't leave, her gentle touch against their heads and back trying to calm them. Trying to comfort them, the guilt they felt, the grief in their hearts. Everything she could do which as of now was gentle words and a soft touch.
"Syre... Holly..."
K sighed softly and looked down to her daughters, holly was dead silent, softly crying and hugging against her ma. The meicoomon not having anything to say really. The renamon doing her best here to just console them, to give them the last bit of warmth she could. Then she heard the soft pleading of her daughter and K felt a soft tug on her core. The renamon leaning down to push her forehead against the other's trying her best to come up with something.
"It's all right syre... It's all right..."
Then mikemon hugged the both of them, well to say all three of them. The renamon doing her best to weakly give the three a hug. The soft sobbing from holly, the pleading that syre gave her, the mikemon's silence. She could feel her time steadily waning. Bit after bit. It wasn't long until her cloak was completely gone, the renamon even going so far as to lose the coloration that she had completely. Looking like a pale imitation of herself.
"Mikemon dear... please take them to the other... r-room... Th... they don't need to see this..."
It was going to hurt.
It was going to hurt so much leaving them behind. Leaving them to this, leaving them to the world without her. A dreadful silence of things from her and there was nothing any of them could do now.

It wasn't alright.
How were things ever going to be alright again? Syre and Holly, at the end, were equally broken, the two able to do little more than cry, plead, and beg in the presence of their dying mother. That sense of finality finally seeped in. Why couldn't they have a little more time? Why couldn't she stay?
Why did the world allow something like this to happen?
Those thoughts wracked Syre's mind and heart, and as the Renamon spoke her request, Mikemon would give a nod. He'd slowly give a hug around the girls, and lead them to a nearby room. Syre's arms wrapped right around her sister, gritting her teeth as she closed her eyes and selfishly buried her eyes against the Meicoomon's shoulder.
The door closed - and with a nod, Mikemon would lead the fox into their room, helping her right up onto the sheets. Once she was settled in, he'd sit right next to her, and take her gloved hand in his own.
"They love you, oh so much, K. I'm glad you warmed up to the idea of seeing them this week."

How could it be?
It never would be all right, never once. Never twice. They lost the person that meant the most to them, they lost a mother, a friend, a person that would be there for them through thick and thin. They lost that smile in the morning, those breakfasts, they lost a guide, a caretaker. They lost her. Simply and pure they lost what it was like to have a mother.
She couldn't stay. She didn't have more time.
It was taken from her by a cruel act of a man that was gone, but had such a harsh impact on their lives. The renamon gently stroking the both of their backs. And with a kiss to each of their foreheads she'd watch them go. One last thing to say to them before they did.
"You never stopped being my world."
Holly cried softly into her Da's arms, and after a moment she'd be hugging her sister as hard as she could. There was no getting around the loss that either of them were feeling. That either of them would continue to feel. The meicoomon cried out, trying to get her mother to come back somehow, wanting her to not leave. She couldn't say it to her, she knew what was coming but that didn't stop her from pushing against syre in a desperate attempt to calm herself.
K rubbed at her face with her hands, feeling shaky and weak. She'd need help getting to the bed and thankfully she was able to get some. It took a few long moments for her to get comfortable and she'd gingering squeeze the mikemon's hand. A weak smile spreading across her face as she continued to lose color.
"I love them just as much as they do me. Which is why I couldn't... let them see this. I'm glad too. They deserved to at least get to say goodbye."
The renamon leaned into her husband, closing her eyes and exhaling softly. There was a tiredness in her voice, exhaustion plain in her core and the slow unraveling started to quicken. Silence was already gone at this point. The very fabrics of herself tearing away.
"I'm so tired mikemon... I love.. you.."
