Alright so maybe her gamble didn't work out as intended, honestly she should have expected it. This was Mae, not some coward. They wouldn't soon make the same mistake of underestimating the Rasielmon again. That lesson would be pretty much carved into their face, put on top of the minimal damage Hasenya had already managed to do. Who knew this edgy creep could be anymore scarred on the face? The Belphemon let out a howl of pain and stumbled away from Mae, covering its face with its claws. "Idiot, I'll die anyway!"
The other Hasenya pulled its claws away to glare at Mae with literal burning anger. Data bled out from its newly acquired wounds, though fire erupted from them as well. Growing more intense when the demon lost their temper- so they really were clones. The actual Hasenya meanwhile was just sort of watching helplessly. At this point they didn't know what to do. Fighting fire with fire wasn't even a logical option and her weapons obviously meant fuck-all to this beast.
Having the same capacity to make stupid though hopefully effective decisions as their counterpart, the Belphemon let its weapon drop. Rather than take a swing, the fake lord had opted to take a lunge at the Ophanim with her arms wide open in an attempt to close them around Mae in what would've been mistaken for a bear hug if not for the whole context of the situation. If successful they'd lock their claws together to reaffirm their grip, and then they would turn up the heat by a whole lot. The intent was obvious by that point if they'd made it this far, they were trying to cook a cat-angel.

If it was the Belphemon's fate to just die, then it was Mae's duty to make sure it -suffered.- She hadn't intended to let up with her assault in the slightest, even when the Belphemon seemed to grow a little more...toasty with that sudden onset of anger. As the false Hasenya lashed out and lunged forward, Mae surged forth as well with intent that was equivalently as malicious.
While the Belphemon wished to wrap her arms around Mae, Mae wanted to sink those claws of hers all the way into the hide of the Belphemon. The claws were already highly corruptive in nature, so actually having them stuck inside of you was going to hurt like a bitch if this were successful. Of course, the ophanim could only grit her teeth as the heat around her suddenly became unbearable. "I-I'll kill you..." She hissed.
...Someone might want to get her out of this! Quick!

Though the Belphemon's fate was sealed as Mae's toxic claws sank into her torso, their grip did not weaken. The beast endured the pain, using it as more fuel for the flame. Words at this point were a struggle but damned if this edgy clone wasn't going to get another taunt off- maybe encourage her real self to get up and do something, instead of sitting around like a scared kid. "S-Stupid.. Am I really just gonna sit there and watch someone as pretty as this die for me?" They chuckled deeply, glaring at the real Hasenya with a look that made it obvious that she expected them to do something. But what could she do? She was just a lone Renamon, and not a particularly strong one at that. She wasn't like Ophelia, or Skadi or really most anyone in her family and KIZNA. Hasenya let out a distressed noise and put her hands to her head, desperately trying to think of any possible way she could get Mae free but each time she had an idea she felt frozen by her own fear and self-doubt. Underneath all that pressure it was inevitable that she was going to snap. And as if the Belphemon knew exactly what was going through the Renamon's head, their grip seemed to weaken. Hasenya was sick and tired of being scared. Of being a helpless kid who talked a big game but couldn't even back it up. It felt like an eternity to the fox, though in reality things played out much faster. The rookie was shrouded in glowing white, with bits of data drifting up off of her. Without even waiting for her shape to change appropriately, a very bright pink and flaming Youkomon bursted foward towards the Belphemon, creating a loud and sharp noise like they had just busted through a glass window. "Let her go!" Hasenya demanded leaving a blazing trail in her wake as she zipped towards her other self at speeds she had never been able to reach before. They put they front claws out as they leapt at the Belphemon, using the momentum from their sudden burst to bring the faux demon lord down forcing them to let Mae go. A champion may not be able to take on a super mega normally, but one that was already in the process of wasting away and dying to a decaying poison.. Suffice to say it was a nice outlet for that first outburst of fresh first-time champion energy, and in Hasenya's case anger. She used two of her tails to keep the Belphemon's arms pinned while she tore into it with her teeth, brutalizing her shadowy clone. It wasn't something she would have the gut to do if she were still a Renamon, but as a Youkomon she felt free of such inhibitions. There was no fear and no self-doubt just white hot rage that gave her all the strength she needed to finally do some good by saving Mae from dying in one of the most painful ways Hasenya could think of, and all for a waste of a gift like herself. Hasenya eventually pulled away from the Belphemon, breathing heavily in an attempt to better control themselves. When she was sure that they weren't going to be moving anymore, they turned and walked back over to Mae, a little awkwardly at first since it had been a long while since they had walked on all-fours like that. Laying down in the snow in front of them and bowing their head apologetically. "I'm sorry I didn't help you sooner..." They spoke softly. Quite the drastic change from how they had just been acting with that Belphemon, really. WC: 619 TWC: 7299

If nothing changed here, then the two would have actually killed each other. The choice commentary from the other Hasenya didn't quite register in Mae's mind at the moment as she was being seared alive, yet her claws had struck true, didn't they? The monster had also sealed her fate in taunting Hasenya, as the Renamon went from a mere rookie to a wildfire of a champion that promptly struck the Belphemon down and began to essentially rip her apart.
Something that was quite questionable when you were just tearing your other self up.
Mae staggered away from the two as she was let go, and could do not much else aside from watch. Hard to believe Hasenya had it in her. The Rasielmon was surrounded in the same glow that enveloped Hasenya as a mildly wounded Keramon took her place, barely being able to keep herself upright. She was...quite exhausted, to say the least. Alas, the Keramon managed to drag herself forward a little towards the Youkomon, and weakly patted her on the head. "I-It's okay...I-I'm sorry I couldn't do better with keeping you safe..." . ..She was barely even able to put up that smile that Keramon were known to have. Yeesh. "Y-You don't mind carrying me, right? Just for a bit?"

The fox's set of tails gave a little jump in response to the headpats- more out of surprise than anything else. She gave just a quick little nuzzle up at the Keramon's hand to show her appreciation, letting out a relieved huff when she was sure Mae wasn't upset with her perceived lack of effort. "You did perfect, there's not a scratch on me." Of course she meant this in the physical sense, there was no doubt this experience wouldn't leave her anytime soon. It wasn't all terrible though, and in the end they were mostly healthy.
The Youkomon turned with her back to Mae and sat down in the snow, parting her tails so they wouldn't accidentally get stepped on. "I don't mind at all, it's the least I can do for you after.. all that." And she wished she could do more. Mae risking their life the way they did wasn't any small thing to Hasenya. It was (literally) time to put a catsquid to bed- a proper one, where ever she could find one. She could figure it out when they were down the mountain.

Perfect. That was a word that kept itself stuck to the top of Mae's head. She didn't do bad. She didn't do good. She did perfect. With that in mind, she slid across the snow to clamber onto the Youkomon's back. Mae couldn't really step on any of the tails considering she didn't have proper feet. Just tentacles in this form, really.
Of course, the literal moment that Mae managed to get on Hasenya's back, the Keramon practically conked out right then and there, draping her arms around the fox as though she were some weird Kerascarf. The question posed now was not if Hasenya could take Mae down the mountain. That much was already certain. No, the new question up in the air?
Could Hasenya take a sleeping Mae down a mountain and not die inside while doing so?

Sure she could. Again, it was only the very least she could do for Mae. The Youkomon stood from the snow and started to pad her way down the mountain. Taking it slow as to not disturb the sleeping Keramon on her back, and without being able to fly it was going to take a good long while. That was okay though, maybe the fox liked having Mae on her back? Not that she would so easily admit it verbally.
Hasenya was careful about how much heat she put off, only putting off just enough to keep her passenger warm in this increasingly cold weather. Given how new the form was, it was a real test of her control over her abilities. In a form that was meant to let it all loose it was much harder than it looked. Though the warm fuzzies in her chest that she couldn't explain were more than enough motivator to give her a refined, perhaps perfect control.
She had a lot to think about on her way down the mountain and without Mae being awake to keep her mind elsewhere. It seemed like her thoughts were flip-flopping between Mae and some of the things her other self had said and did. They had told her she was holding herself back because of... stupid things? What even were the stupid things? Though then there was Mae, who had risked her life for some rookie they barely knew. Not that the amount of time they had known eachother really mattered to the fox after what had happened today, anyone who could do what Mae did was...
She wasn't sure how to put it. Any words she had for it that came to mind made her want to blush underneath her fur. Today was just weird. Hasenya carried Mae all the way back to Ys, getting more and more tired as she got closer to it. The initial burst of energy from her first time becoming a champion had long passed and she could barely hold the form at this point. But she was determined to find a nice and proper place for the Keramon to sleep. They had one place in mind, though they'd be giving up their own bed for awhile- not that they minded at this point. Hasenya just hoped no one caught her on the way there.
Flashfire Phantom wasn't an option with Mae on her back since the invisibility only worked on herself, so she was just going to risk it. Slowly carrying the Keramon from the entrance of Ys' all the way back to her room. It was a damn good thing she was already used to walking needlessly long distances. Perhaps not with someone on her back, though Mae wasn't heavy. She was happy to be back home, though not so amused by having to carefully step through piles of books and pillows. Somehow no one in KIZNA had spotted her... Guess it was just a stroke of good luck after a bad day.
There wasn't any real graceful means of getting her passenger up onto the bed, so she simply climbed up and then dropped her off before rolling off the bed and onto the floor where there was a brief light- and then they were back to being a Renamon. A very tired and sore Renamon.

The Keramon was not by any means heavy, but that didn't make this any easier for the fox, did it? Any wrong move could disturb the resting creature. Speaking of, how was she faring during Hasenya's calculated and precarious trek down? Still sleeping. Like a rock, in fact. Nothing seemed to be able to rouse her from her slumber as the fox trekked all the way back from the mountain, and to Ys.
Quite the long walk to make on your own and with someone on your back, wasn't it? One thing to note was that there was no Neemon waiting for them when they returned. It was as if he had never existed in the first place, really. That was actually a blessing considering that meant that nobody spotted the pair at all. God knows what anyone would have to say about Hasenya taking a Keramon to her room.
Speaking of? Mae was deposited on the bed safely, and all, but even the sleeping Keramon could note the absence of the warmth. So, while Hasenya dedigivolved back into a Renamon, one of Mae's hands reached down in an attempt to very literally grab the Renamon off of the floor and hug her like some weird living teddy bear.
...Yeah. That happened.

Of all the things to have woken the catsquid up it had to be her rolling onto the floor? She didn't really resist, though granted she didn't have much time to given the whole suddenness of Mae hoisting her back up into bed. They weren't sure how to respond initially, was Mae still asleep? Was this some kinda weird sleep walking deal? Sleep cuddling? So many questions, though they were too flustered and shocked to really ask. "You're uh.. awake?" She asked quietly, not too loudly as to wake her if Hasenya's "sleep cuddling" theory were correct.
She was more concerned about someone walking in and catching Hasenya sharing her bed than she was about the actual situation. Like sure, this kind of unasked for closeness wasn't sitting entirely well with her but... There wasn't really words she could think of to describe how she felt. Hasenya didn't like it, though at the same time she did. The Renamon nudged carefully at Mae, again just to test and see if she were awake or just doing all this subconsciously.

It seemed as though the Keramon were in a strange limbo between asleep, and awake. Yet at the same time, it was pretty simple to see what the Keramon wanted. She was way used to the big amount of warmth she was sleeping on, and to have it ripped away from her so soon prompted her to try taking it back.
The lack of a response to the quiet question shot her way by the fox seemed to confirm the sleep cuddling theory. However...Hasenya nudging her actually did prompt the Keramon's eyes to open, however slowly. There was silence. There was a long bit of silence, before...
"...Aaah! W-What was I doing?! Where is this?! What happened to the mountain?!" She immediately pulled away from Hasenya and curled up into the best ball a Keramon could possibly form with the body it was granted.

That was pretty much exactly what Hasenya was expecting had happened. Rather than make something up that would sound more sensible than the reality of the situation, Hasenya opted to just tell her the truth straight up. "I-I took you down the mountain and wanted to make sure you had a proper bed to sleep in so I brought you to mine. I didn't climb in with you, you dragged me back up in your sleep." That desire for Mae's complete comfort hadn't changed either. Even as awkward as it may be for either of them she was content with being a space heater just as much as she was giving up her bed for one night. All those pillow piles would come in handy in that latter case anyway!
Hopefully her explanation didn't make Mae freak out even more. It was really the best she could give, at least so far as being truthful about it went. She herself was trying not to become too flustered over the situation. "I can go if you want me to? The bed is still yours for as long as your tired." The Renamon offered. Though tempted to pat the Keraball, she wasn't going to risk it.

Mae had to take a few deep breaths in order to calm herself down as Hasenya, thankfully, managed to explain what had happened in a pretty clear manner, all things considered. "O-Oh..." She murmured, her fingers fidgeting quietly as the Keraball refused to unfurl just yet.
"N-No, no, don't go...I-It's still your bed, isn't it? A-And there's more than enough room for us both, so y-you should stay." A flimsy justification, but Mae...really didn't want to think of Hasenya probably sleeping on the floor. That would be nothing short of cruel! Mae wanted to ask why the literal first thing the fox thought of was her bed, but...Somehow, she felt like that was a question best left unasked, really.
The Keraball finally unfurled as Mae leaned forward to see if Hasenya herself was any worse for wear. "...You look like you could use the rest as much as I probably do, now that I think about it..."

"I mean yes, but I was prepared to give it up for a night when I dropped you off. I wasn't gonna just.. Drop you off on the couch or something. That's not a proper bed." Hasenya shook her head. It wasn't like sleeping on the floor was the worst thing ever for her, she did it on accident all the time. Why else would there be pillows everywhere? Honestly though it was pretty obvious the catsquid just wanted something warm to cling onto and it had already been established Hasenya wasn't going to deny the person who saved her sorry ass and nearly died for it.
Worse for wear? Perhaps. She wasn't injured or anything, though walking down Terabyte Mountain with someone on her back had left her drained. Practically running on fumes. "You nearly died. All I did was walk down a mountain- though granted, I did have you on my back." Hasenya shook her head, though still crawled back into bed. Exhaustion then being allowed to catch up with her now that there didn't seem to be any disagreements about where the fox would be sleeping.
"If I do stay here, there's no way you could be cold either so.. I don't mind it. Especially if you don't."

Mae shook her head. No, no one was giving up their bed. Especially not for her. Though, the catsquid had not bothered to take note of all the pillows within the room. Perhaps that was why she was so adamantly against it? Because she didn't see that? Moreover, though, the cat simply tilted her head.
"That...Happened? T-The almost dying bit, I mean...I didn't think it was that bad..." Was that why the fox was so worried about her...? She felt a slight bit discontent about that notion. "Y-Yeah. I don't think I'd be cold at all if you were around, really." The Keramon spoke as she moved to settle...right next to the fox. By flopping on her back.
It was entirely ungraceful and it was probably a crime against acrobatics. "Though, um...N-nobody saw you take me in here, right? There's not gonna be weird rumors about us, are there...?"

"That's how it looked to me. I mean.. They were me, weren't they? Sort of. It was obvious to me what they were doing as soon as they got their arms around you. I'd do the same thing to an enemy if I really wanted them dead." Hasenya explained. Maybe Mae thought she wasn't in that much danger, or she just didn't know. Still, catsquid had done a lot for this dumb fox no matter how you sliced it.
Hasenya adjusted herself just a bit, so she could still remain comfortable with the Keramon clinging onto her back for warmth. "No, nobody saw us. What kind of weird rumors do you even mean? I honestly wonder what asshole makes assumptions of someone helping an unconscious person, just so I can... Hmph." The Renamon grumbled and then huffed, burying her face in a pillow. Totally didn't have the energy to even let her temper get the best of her right now. Was much easier to just lay comfortably and let Mae leech the heat off her.
