Salaryman's Sanity (Vetina)

He looked at her, confused by the forboding "You'll soon know"-sort of comment she'd given about the location of the digital world. He took away her world was faster-paced than he'd anticipate, or even be comfortable with, pondering how this could be. He was, however, still confused by her telepathy remark. He gave a small frown at the model remarks, not exactly happy to have an unusual and alien species give him a back-handed compliment to his face. "Uh... well... good to know... It's good that you... um... are trying to move on, at least..." He said, sighing and actually beginning his meal. "Um... maybe you should ask some more questions, to balance things out. I'm not usually this intrusive, you have to understand... it's just not every day I meet... things like you. I mean, women like you..."

Vetina frowned a bit, patting Yaku's shoulder. She was starting to see her comments about his character were getting to him. Since they were friends, she couldn't keep doing this and have him feel bad about it.
"I apologize for my unnecessary analysis of your character. You've been the football everyone kicks, and I'm feeling guilty sticking my own foot in. While personal countenance under pressure is a trait you need, may I offer a tip of advice? Train to be firm. Legs of stone are less prone to fall from gusts as legs of straw. You needn't sway or whip back. Punching a mountain is foolish, not for retaliation potential, but in false beliefs of eroding its stance.
While no quick process, try to firm up your legs. Strengthen your foundation. At least be the brick wall.
As for my own inquiries, I shall ask of oppritunities to make your workplace, as of yet unknown to me, better for you."

He sighed. "Well... it's filled with hypocrites that tell the boss if I break protocol... meanwhile they pile work onto mine and walk away like nothing's happened... I create anything noteworthy and they'll somehow find a way to work around it, and if I try and explain to my boss, like I used to, they'll make it seem like I stole it from them... My bosses don't like me, I accidentally hurt his dog one day while driving home from work and ever since I've had to do unpaid overtime... and that was just in the first company I worked at. When I do get fired, I have to move to an even worse company, with co-workers who've heard my story and do the same. I've been demoted fifteen times, fired seventeen times, and transferred twenty-five times. It's one thing to be pushed over when you stand tall, Vetina... it's another to be crippled while lying down." He was silent after that, continuing his lunch.

"My knowledge of human corporate environments are slim pickings. Still, hearing that boils me up. Mutual improvement is needed, but you couldn't stand with a Mammathmon on your back. No human could. "
She stood up, finishing up the rest of her noodles and started on her candy bar.
"No miserable clumps of effluence should contaminate such a place of business. Also, I could use some spice of interest. I'll do something for your sake. Anything at all involving your likely temporary workplace.
Really not slinging offense this time, I know groups with fewer pink slips than you, but I'll not fault you for circumstance and bad timing. I'm no banner of justice, no praiser of right, but you need a break. A few chunks off the mammothmon on your back. What do you say?"

"Uh... well... what're you planning?" He asked, worried about the concept of letting a monster woman he just met enter his office building with possible intent of revenge, all being on his head. He had a basic idea of her powers and abilities, and even then had no way to know how far these digimon creatures could go, if she meant to bring in more than just one, if she meant to mention him during all this... long story short, he had no clue what she'd do, how she'd do it, who she'd do it to, and even IF she would do it, just based on a simple yes or no answer from him. For all he knew, he could end up anywhere from the evening news for drowning his boss to just on the mind of some guy she tripped. As his mind filled and quelled with all these thoughts, he pondered if it would be worth it anyway.

"No, no, no, you are not quite grasping the preposition, Yaku."
Perhaps he was worried about his life in general that he feared what Vetina may do. Perhaps it was the way she spoke that lost something in translation. With a sigh, she spoke at a slower pace.
"Take note of my verbal transcriptions. I am formulating no plot. To vanilla my speech a bit..." she paused... she realized she can speak plainly. Oh well, Yaku would assume she paused for emphasis."...you give me X task on Y person in Z area. Right now, XYZ are variables. Figures and info of which I don't know. It's you who will supply me the figures. And the equation, to the best of my ability relative to the task, shall be taken care of. Of course... I could contemplate one of my mode of action. You'll not be implicated by any means. No harm shall fall upon anyone. "

"OK... OK... I think I get it... I just ask you to help me with something and you will do it, correct? ...I need a series of paperwork given to a company across town by Five tonight, but I have an off-site meeting at my house I need to prepare for, as well as a few copies to pick up from a copy shop. The paperwork, in blue paper, needs to be brought to a company across town to help with a rather important merger, why they decided to make me do it I'll never know. You'll know the company as Comp-U-Comp and it has a large computer monitor statue out front. The copy shop, located on the opposite side of town, has a large bundle of certificates celebrating those who took the least sick days. They're on green paper and you'll know the copy shop because it's between a bakery and an internet cafe. Do you have a map? Because I can mark these down if you need it."

Vetina wasn't quite expecting an errand run. She expected something sneakier. More devious. More cunning. But this is what Yaku needed... and it was a more comlicated task than she figured. But her word was her word.
"Okay... I have it all memorized. I've made rounds round the city, so a map is unnecessary. This task is completed in essense, for my honor reclines on it.
...
What, though, is the proper sequence I shall follow? For certainty sake. I've also never made use of a copy shop before. Zigging and zagging are easy, but a list would suffice well of ordered tasks."
She wasn't particularly confused... but she never performed this sort of task before.

"OK... For the copy shop, all you need to do is to go to the shop, and bring the certificates to the front desk of my office building." He pointed to a rather tall building a few blocks away. "Just give them to the secretary and tell her that they're from me. The paperwork I think is actually in my suitcase, give me a moment..." He closed his dinner and opened his suitcase, showing her the velvet inline and several different stacks of paper, as well as the drink similar to the one he had the day before. Grabbing the paper, Vetina may have noticed a photo of him and his wife during happier times, they both wearing vacation clothes and sunglasses on a beach. Shutting the case, he gave her a few pieces of paper.
"The secretary should know what to do with this, but in case she doesn't put it in a manila envelope with the name "Miyamoto Iwata" on it, OK?"

As he opened his suitcase, Vetina did, indeed, see the photo Yaku carried with him. She was, indeed, a nice looking woman. Oh how fortunate Yaku was. But now was not the time for this. She had an errand to prepare to do. Her body was ready.
Properly equipped with the info and items sje required, she took a moment to make sure she remembered everything, muttering out loud the info back to the human. It was all recited correctly.
"Gotcha."
And that was all she said before she bolted suddenly. Regardless of whether or not he believed Vetina was a ninja, it was obvious that her foot speed when running was impressive for human standards.
She would do this. Nothing would stop her.

Smiling and watching her leave, Yaku breathed a sigh of relief that something was going right for him. If the rest of these "digimon" creatures were as kind and smart as her, maybe he and his wife would vacation in the Digital World. Getting back to his meal and finishing it up, he briefly pondered how to repay her. Another meal would probably be a good start for that, followed by a few yen for her services... maybe he could introduce her to his wife... in her human disguise, of course. He chuckled, realizing how rare a sentence this was. A little less work on his plate was always a good thing, but he needed to remember not to get lazy. Finishing his meal and writing a short message about his returning to work, he did exactly that. Whether or not she got the message remains to be seen. --THE END--
