Upon seeing Kaya and Hawkeye, the Tyranomon immediately focused his attention at them. "What, you're in one league with these two? Then you guys better sniff my hands too. They have the scent of the fruits. It's way too obvious and the scent is way too strong. I think even human can smell them and immediately identify them... unless somehow it's not so memorable for you people, but eh whatever, the more people who dealing this knows, the better!"
The forager on Bezil's side, a Muchomon, shook his head. "No I don't need money at all. Honestly, all I want is just for this horrible nightmare to stop. Our life is in jeopardy, and honestly, we're being treated like pariah because crime of another who happened to be in same job... If you can solve this problem then it'll be less of an issue for us... just... please, please help us."
Though when he heard "overnight", he... "I'd not do that if i were you, senor. Unfortunately all form of trapping the ones responsible at night have failed. Most of what they caught is foragers who seem to not care about morals and still going to harvest these fruits anyway. Whoever responsible somehow did not operate under the darkness, it's as if... they have their own method of transport. You might can get more information from the mayors... Or perhaps.... those who got detained? I don't know much really, I have been in house arrest pretty much to clear their suspicion of me."

Mango Island, Luna would have noticed that the island is slightly warmer (which in turn, makes it quite hot, but not as hot as Spear of Megiddo) compared to the Pear Island. Unlike Pear island, Mango Island's square is not as busy... no, in fact, it looks almost deserted, save for some people selling food, and some Digimons pacing back and forth, looking very much stressed. Might be the family member of the sick person on Pear Island. But either way... minus the sound of birds chirping, the place is pretty much not operating at 100%.
...The reason might be far easier than people thought after all.
There's a huge plaque on the side of the teleporter, right on sight. Welcome to Mango Island We procure our exotic products directly from the wild! Home of Golden Apple Archipelago's best foragers!

Kaya and Hawkeye were very confused as to why Luna was sniffing this random Tyrannomon's claws when they were walking by. Sniffing hands was not a very normal thing to do, at least not without a good reason as to do so. Luckily Luna did have a good reason, as she told them that the weird fruit leaves behind a very strong and peculiar odor to those who touch it. The Tyrannomon in question said that Kaya and Hawkeye ought to sniff his claws as well. They both looked at each other with unsure expressions, then looked back towards Tyrannomon. "Uh... sure, if you think it will help?"
They bothed walked up and sniffed Tyrannomon's claws. The smell was nothing like what the human and Hawkmon have ever smelled before. Both of them reeled back afterwards, with Hawkeye even coughing a bit. "You have a point there... I will indeed recognize this smell if I ever encounter it again."
Before they left, Luna mentioned to the duo that they were going to go to Mango Island to look for foragers, and wished them good luck on Pear Island. They both nodded in response, but neither one said anything to Luna or Dust as they walked away. Kaya watched them as they got farther and farther away. "...no, they won't forgive us. Come on, Hawkeye."
Following their previous lead, Kaya and Hawkeye would search around for the biggest island on Pear Island, which is where the mayor's office is supposedly located. Once they reached it, the two of them would walk inside, hoping to find the mayor of Pear Island to discuss where the foragers could possibly be at the moment...

Providing the Renamon with that much coin, and an even greater promise, seemed quite naive and unnecessary to Cion... but she understood why Bezil did it. After all, he had stated the reason for such actions himself. He was not a sleuth, and more than that he was a kid. This however was not to his detriment. He had an innocent view on the world and its inhabitants, and the impetus to help out whenever and in any possible way. She had no desire to reprimand him for his generosity, although it was not unlikely that it could cause him hindrances in the future.
Nonetheless, they had attained what they had desired - a lead. The question on how to utilize it remained though. Making her initial suggestion, it was quickly and surprisingly so rejected by the lad. Yet he was not wrong in his assertions, and the silver fennec ultimately nodded in agreement. If they only had to await for corrupted fruits to arrive through shipments then why not pursue this course of action? "Very well. But we will have to conceal out signature for a potential ambush. Fortunately, I have an ability for this... if you don't mind being rather tiny that is."
It was either that or following the other clue of the stranger they had just dealt with. Truth be told, the unassuming fox saw no point in interacting with the mayors or the detainees. She had the means to force confessions out of people, but she comprehended the unreliability of these kinds of 'cooperation'. Neither did she have the intention to dispense bribes willy-nilly. In the end, she shrugged, facing the Gumdramon with her characteristic composure in her stance and mien. "Your call, dear."

As Luna and Dust stepped through the teleporters Luna stopped for a minute before letting out a loud breath looking down at the ground. "I knew it, Kaya and Hawkeye hate us, they didn't even say goodbye. ooh how am I going to get them to forgive us Dust?" She had probably been overbearing when they met up again, or it was what she said during the encounter. Whatever it was things seemed sour and the Lekismon blamed herself for it!
Dust looked up at Luna before letting out a small sigh shaking his head. "You don't need to apologize to her Luna, if anything she should say sorry to you. She's a kid she's probably just feeling guilty about what happened. She'll come around just give her some space." While Dust wasn't really keen on forgiving the duo he was more worried about Luna right now then that.
Luna lifted her head up giving a small nod. "You're right, actually that's part of the reason I decided to come here, hopefully we can find some clues about all this stuff." Though now that she wasn't having a crisis about her friend Luna did notice there was seemingly almost no digimon around save for a few.
While Luna was wondering what was going on Dust noticed the plaque on the side of the teleporter, reading it quickly he poked Luna's leg to get her attention. "Hey Luna, check this out."
Luna looked down at the Impmon and over at the Plaque, it was definitely something weird about it. "From the wild? Maybe they're the ones who found the fruit?" If they were exploring the wild and stumbled on the fruit that made sense.
"Because they might want to maintain their status as the 'best' a fruit that creates a new you might do that." It was all conjecture at this point but it was a solid idea to work with for now. Looking at each other the two nodded before heading over to some of the digimon who were pacing around, showing their badge and asking about why everything was so dead.

Bezil nodded as Muchomon refused a reward for this information. “Alright then, we’ll just have to do our best to solve this problem.” in fact he felt a little more motivated to do so with the immediate monetary reward refused.
Muchomon then provided more information that made Bezil’s initial idea void. “Huh, okay, so, it could be high level corruption maybe…” the Gumdramon concluded. “At least as a possibility, I don’t really want to write it off just yet, but, yeah, that might be a good idea… talk to those that were caught with the contraband and see what they know.”
Bezil turned to Cion to see what she thought of this information. She said that she had an ability that could prepare for an ambush, if he didn’t mind being tiny. While given that his suggestion to ambush a transportation at night was probably not going to work, Bezil took note of it. “That could come in handy later, Aunt Cion.” he answered.
When the conversation ended, Bezil thought the best thing to do here would to question the captured smugglers and see if they could gain clues from them. “Let’s go to the prison and ask some prisoners.” he suggested. “Perhaps offer them some reward if they help us. While they are criminals that were sentenced to a punishment, we could maybe coerce some to help solve this problem to help pay off the debt they owe to society.”
This felt just in Bezil’s mind. If Cion didn’t object, he would make his way to the jail and ask the guards to speak to prisoners who were charged with crimes related to the current crisis.

Bezil and Cion
"I'll guide you there, then," the Muchomon told them. The guy waddled toward the prison, guarded by an imposing looking Bulkmon. The big Digimon stood there with his arms crossed, glaring at anyone who passed... well including the Muchomon and the other two.
"What is it?" he gruffly asked.
"These two are with whitewater authorities, they'd like to conduct an investigation."
"'zzat so? Well then, badges, please, ma'am and sir." Despite his gruffness, the guy is at least very cooperative Should either (or both) of the two shows their badge, Bulkmon would let them enter the prison. Muchomon meanwhile... "I'll leave you to your investigation then. It's best if I stay away from here anyway... lot of them doesn't really like me, those people inside... Goodluck with your investigation. If you need me for anything I'll be around the place where you find me before."
With that, the Digimon tottered off.
....Now, how to describe the prison? It's pretty much dark, with very little illumination. It might be clean and all, but by all means it's gloomy and most of all with laser bars that prevented any Digimon inside from running away. But even then... it's not like they can run anyway... most of those inside feels like zombies in a sense that they're very out of it. Moaning, groaning...
A Dinohumon warden noticed their presence.
"Greetings. I'm guessing that you're those that the mayor told us about? Ones who's going to solve the issues of this archipelago? My name is Loran, I'm one of the warden here, as you can see. How can I help you in your investigation?"
Kaya and Hawkeye
When Kaya and Hawkeye reached the mayor's house, unfortunately there are some... problems it seems. There are tons of Digimons there, and it's seem that the place have been turned into a massive community kitchen. There are cooks here and there, and they're trying to cook quit ethe big amount of meal it seems.
"YOU THERE, THE FLAME IS DYING! GET MORE FIREWOOD! HEY, HAVE YOU TASTED THAT? IS THE SEASONING ALRIGHT? GIVE ME A BITE." a Jungle Mojyamon, the onwer of the voice, tasted the food before handing a jar of spice. She smacked her lips just to be sure of the taste. "GIVE IT SOME MORE SPICE. LISTEN WELL! THE SURVIVAL OF THOSE AFFECTED DEPENDS ON OUR COOKING. FOLLOW THE RECIPE!"
Her eyes then met with the two visitors. "AND HOW CAN I HELP YOU? I'M GUESSING THAT YOU'RE NOT HERE TO SUBSTITUTE ONE OF THE COOKS HERE!"
...She doesn't seem to have a "room level" voice.
Dust and Luna
The one that they met first was a Flamemon who looked a bit wary... but seem that they're going to talk.
"So you guys have no idea huh... alright, here's the story. It's true that this island is where we first found the fruit. The fruit at first became a great commodity for the island, but at first we began to consume it first. Well, thing is, after a while, the island community got split into two. One that wanted the fruit all for ourselves, and those who want to sell it. Before long, the former showed signs of addiction... and so they overharvested the fruits. Fearing low incomes, the latter also began to overharvesting. Before long... well... things goes south so to say..."
The Flamemon pointed at the forest to their left, which... have turned into a dying husk of its previous look. "....This is what happened. The forest decayed, and before long people started going to the other islands, wondering if there are more of those... miracle fruits. But apparently, the latter party has formed some sort of syndicate with outsiders to harvest it, and export them to whitewater for great amount of money. You know, whitewater, hedonism, stuffs.
....Well, uh... so either way, once the fruit started to cause death, three other islands looked over here as the culprit and they started to interrogate us and all that... those who are innocent stayed or ended up ran away, while those involved ended up getting in the prison, heavy medical care, or is hiding... We... imagine they're with the crime syndicate by now. I'm not sure whether they gonna drop the business or not, considering the amount of money whitewater black market would buy for one... It's... a hell of a drug for sure. Currently, only 5% of the population remains in this place."

"Yeah, I was definitely not prepared for this."
The last thing Kaya and Hawkeye expected when they arrived at the mayor's house was to find that it had been turned into some form of huge makeshift kitchen. Not only that, there was none of that gross fruit smell from earlier... in fact it smelled really good in this place! So good that it was on the brink of making Kaya and Hawkeye hungry. Thankfully they were able to push those thoughts out and focus on the task at hand.
One thing that would be apparent very quickly was that the head chef, a Jungle Mojyamon, was very, very, VERY loud. She seemed to practically scream every word she said to the other chefs. The two partners glanced at each other after she finished screaming, both of them sweatdropping; they had a feeling this would be an interesting encounter, to say the least. Though she did say something interesting: the survival of the affected depended on their cooking. What did that mean, exactly?
It didn't take long for the Jungle Mojyamon to notice Kaya and Hawkeye. She scream-asked what she could do to help, guessing that they weren't here to substitute any cooks. Both of them cringed slightly just from the sheer volume of this Digimon's voice. "No, we are not here to substitute," Hawkeye responded. "And please do not scream so loud, we are not that far away."
"No, actually, we're here investigating this weird fruit that appeared on your island," Kaya said, "and we were told that the mayor would know where the fruit foragers would be. Is the... mayor here right now?"
"And why has the mayor's office been turned into a kitchen, may I ask? Is this food for the affected that you all are making?" Meanwhile, the Falcomon that Kaya and Hawkeye had met earlier had snuck away from his duties supporting the patients. The young bird thought he could do more to help than just tend to those who were sick without any experience in that area at all. He noticed a Lekismon and an Impmon walking towards one of the portals, so without thinking twice he stealthily followed them through the portal...
And without them knowing, he ended up on Mango Island as well. He was able to read the same plaque from further away. Fruit from the wild? Did those weird fruits grow here then? Maybe he could find some more, and give them to Gramps so he could hold on for just a bit longer...
The Falcomon hid behind a nearby bush as the Flamemon walked up and began to tell the story. He explained that they first found the fruit on this island. The island split into two groups, one who wanted to eat the fruit and one who wanted to sell it, and apparently it didn't take long for the former group to become addicted, and the fruits were overharvested from both groups as a result. Can't believe Gramps would eat something like that...
The Flamemon continued. The forest to their left had seemingly up and died, a husk of its former self. More Digimon went to the other islands, looking for more of those "miracle fruits." That wasn't the part that got underneath the Falcomon's feathers, though... it was the fact that the latter group had formed a syndicate with others to sell this fruit in other places, like their home of Whitewater. It was their fault that Gramps was sick. The Falcomon could feel his fists clenching as he heard the news... he wanted to punch something so badly right about now!
The other islands apparently took notice to this one, and started interrogating everyone on Mango Island. Those innocent stayed or ran away, while those involved were either arrested, given medical care or ran away. Flamemon even guessed they were with the crime syndicate by now. The Falcomon didn't know how to make heads or tails of what he had just heard... on the one hand he wanted to go seek out those involved with selling those horrid fruits to Whitewater... on the other hand he had his sister to look out for, and he couldn't go off on a vigilante mission... what to do, what to do, what to do...

Would her abilities come in handy later though? Considering their current progress, Cion began to doubt this sentiment, despite appreciating her nephew's optimism and support. For now however, it seemed reasonable to utilize the time they had at their disposal instead of wasting it by simply waiting. She personally was not an advocate of prison systems, but her personal feelings did not matter for their mission. If there was indeed a chance for them to obtain valuable intel, then they had to pursue any lead, even those she did not like. Thus, without objections, she nodded and quietly followed Bezil.
Showing her badge whenever needed, the duo was guided through the sterile, hollow confines of the local jail. The silver fennec could not help herself but frown. She truly detested institutions such as these, which were not only a waste of currency, but harrowingly ineffective, if not counterproductive, in regards to their intended effect. She kept her composure and poise, but her signature smile was gone. In lieu thereof, gravely neutral focus marked her face. If nothing else, her aureate eyes lingered on the young drake by her side. This was no place for a jolly youngster like him.
Still, he did a good job. Hence, once they met the warden Loran, all she did was gently bow and nudge the lad to speak up. The last thing she wanted was for his fervor to dwindle.

Luna nodded that they had no idea, wondering for a moment why they seemed wary of them but what he said next made it pretty clear as to why, considering the signs they were told about the infection that made sense, getting addicted to something like that would cause something crazy like that. Luna nodded letting the Flamemon continue his story.
Meanwhile Dust felt something, considering the low amount of digimon here there shouldn't be much around but he could feel eyes on him. Turning his head Dust looked over at the exact place the Falcomon was hiding, he wasn't completely sure that someone was there but it was a feeling he had, ever since the portal.
The story continued with pointing out the forests, dead with not even a hint of anything growing what so ever it seemed. Then was more of what they already knew, exporting them for money and spreading the whole thing around. Most of it seemed like stuff they already knew, but it was nice to know exactly which island started this whole thing. "Don't suppose you have any information any information we could work off of regarding the syndicate or where the source of all these fruits came from." Obviously if it dried up the source wasn't here, but Luna didn't want to leave without asking first.
Meanwhile Dust had decided to go with his gut and point towards the place the Falcomon was hiding. "Alright, if someone's there come out already. I can feel your eyes staring holes into us." If he was wrong he would be fine with that, but he wasn't fine with some digimon staring at them! Especially if they might've followed from the other island.

“Yes of course, here is my badge.” Bezil said, presenting it to the guards when asked. He turned and bowed a thanks to the Muchomon for their assistance. “Thank you. You’ve been most helpful.” he said, and let them be on their way.
Bezil noted that Cion’s disposition changed as they entered the prison. For the Gumdramon, he had been taught that it was the right thing for a society to have – as a place to keep wrongdoers until they could repay society for their crimes. And he absolutely thought it a better option than making them pay with their lives, at least if it wasn’t called for.
Still though, he had to ask, given the change in her expression. “Everything okay, aunt Cion?” Bezil asked, hoping to hear at least that he might be doing the right thing here. He was new to this after all.
And then he heard the moanings. Bezil felt himself begin to shiver. Why… would digimon moan like this? Were they being mistreated? His yellow eyes dashed around the dungeon, searching for instruments of torture, but found none. What… was this?
Bezil was brought back to his senses when Cion nudged him and the warden Loran introduced himself. The Gumdramon bowed in response, took a breath to compose himself, then spoke.
“Hello, Loran. I am Bezil and this is my aunt Cion. We’re here on behalf of the authority of Whitewater to investigate the smuggling operations and their subsequent problems here on these islands. We’d like to talk to any of the prisoners here who are linked to these events for any information they have that might bring us leads.”
Bezil looked around at the cells, the digimon seeming to moan like zombies. He couldn’t remain silent any longer.
“Also… if I can ask, do you know why so many prisoners are acting like that?” he asked. “With the moaning… are they in pain? If not, what’s going on here?”
Bezil hoped he wasn’t coming off as too confrontational here. So he added on to that. “Not that I question your ability as warden here, just, it’s very unusual to see digimon act like this.”
