On a Yacht! (MPC-V: Valentine's 2022)
|
Post by Speed & Psych on Feb 21, 2022 3:02:11 GMT
I would like Bits as a reward. Valentine's Day... a day dedicated to spending time with your significant other. And frankly, just some alone time with his handsome lion boyfriend was exactly what Speed needed right about now. His year was fairly rough, with Speed's twin brother Psych disappearing in a freak accident before returning many months later, in addition to finding their long-lost mother... it was a lot to take for the blue drake. Because of this, it seemed that Lantis thought to make this Valentine's Day date one that neither would forget.
And almost immediately, that goal had seemed to be realized.
"I've never been on a yacht before!" Speed said with great enthusiasm as he leaned against the railing, taking in the nearby sites of Whitewater as the city seemed to fade from view the further they got into the big blue ocean of the Digital World. His mask and gauntlets were resting inside the boat, so the drake was really only wearing his chest piece and his arm bands. It was more or less his casual attire; the helmet and gauntlets were on when there was combat do be done.
Speed was in love with this view so much. If Lantis were to walk by, he'd see the speedster's tail wagging like crazy and his eyes practically sparkling as he looked at the blue waters, seeing various small aquatic Digimon swimming by. Sure, he wasn't used to how much a boat moved so he was feeling a tad bit ill, but that clearly wasn't enough to sway his good mood. "And I thought last year's date was great... we barely even started and I think it's clear that you topped it by a lot, Lanty!"

I would like Bits as a reward for this MPC please.
Lantis was beyond happy when his Valentine’s plans with Speed came to fruition. So many things could have gone wrong – stormy weather off Whitewater would have made the yacht cruise impossible; an emergency at AEGIS could have foiled their plans, but, all had fallen neatly into place. Sophie had helped him book the luxury yacht for the night months in advance, they had managed to put both Colin and Tadayoshi in charge of AEGIS operations that day so they could handle whatever came at them, and according to Enkidu and Gaz, there seemed to be no threats that would need an all-hands-on-board situation.
Given the terrible year Speed had so far, it was something of a relief for them to board the yacht they had booked. The crew were friendly and discreet, which would handle the vessel while they had their time of luxury together. The Leomon was so relaxed he even changed into more casual clothes once he could – a pair of jeans and a hawaiian shirt, which he wore with the buttons undone. He hoped Speed would appreciate that.
Lantis for one appreciated what Speed was wearing on the ship, namely nothing but his chest piece and armbands. It made the Leomon tingle a little when he saw him like that, ’gosh he’s so handsome...’
Still, there was plenty of time to dwell on that for later. As the yacht made way out of the port and toward the calm, open sea on the nice warm tropical winter night, Lantis stood next to Speed on the bow, appreciating the sights too.
Lantis purred at Speed’s compliments. “I’m so glad you like it, Speedy~” he said, putting an arm around him. “And we have this yacht for ourselves until tomorrow at midday. Ahh, there’s so much we can do. The galley’s promised us a delicious seafood lunch, the Captain mentioned that she knows a decent fishing spot where we can relax for the afternoon and catch some dinner if we want some more of that. Otherwise there’s the lounge where we can watch movies together, and…” he realized he was blabbering a bit now. “Hee, sorry, I’m just so excited for this. I’ve been looking forward to this for so long.”
For now, Lantis appreciated the fresh smell of seaspray as they made their way out toward the Whitewater bay. Some other ships were in view, but there was plenty of room for them to spread out. It seemed a lot of others had hired boats and yachts for Valentine’s. Still though, Lantis didn’t mind that others had taken his idea.
“So, my darling, what would you like to do before lunch?” the Leomon asked, eager to kick the day off by doing something fun and romantic with his boyfriend for the first few hours of their time together out at sea.

Speed couldn't help but notice the getup that his Leomon boyfriend Lantis was wearing as he walked up to where Speed was. Of course, he was wearing his usual casual jeans, but he was also wearing a Hawaiian shirt with the buttons undone. Speed took a glance at his lovely lion and couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "I thought you had some kind of thing against shirts, like how Bellamy has one against pants. I'm gonna lose it if we get back and Bellamy's actually wearing pants."
The Speedramon could feel Lantis's arm go around him as he described what they could do on the yacht. They had it all for themselves until midday tomorrow, with a promised seafood lunch and a mention of a fishing spot. "My brother and I went fishing a couple times, mostly to catch some food. Let's just say I'm way too restless for something like that... we can still go if you want to, though." He hoped it didn't seem like he was COMPLETELY shutting that idea down or anything. Lantis should know how hyper-active the blue drake could be on a regular basis... when he's not with Lantis, of course.
Lantis blabbered on a bit more about activities they could do before he caught himself, apologizing in the process. Speed smiled and rested his head on Lantis's shoulder. "It's okay, Lanty... I just like being here with ya. I really needed the alone time with you, anyways..." While Speed wouldn't bring it up, Lantis would have noticed Speed and Psych arguing with each other for the past couple of days, in a way that the two hadn't really been seen doing before. It was up to Lantis if he wanted to press about the subject or not.
Lantis then asked what Speed wanted to do on their trip before lunch. Oof, he hadn't really given it much thought... at the moment he was just sort of content with hanging out with Lantis like this. "Hm... there's this human sport I actually wanna try, it's called... 'Wakeboarding,' I think. We just need a plank of wood and a rope to attach to the ship!"

Lantis chuckled at Speed’s assumption that he didn’t wear shirts like Bellamy didn’t wear pants. “Nah, it’s nothing like that, dear.” the Leomon said, smiling. “I like to think I look more intimidating with a bare chest, and Sophie and curiously her grandmother Emiko agrees that that’s good for AEGIS, but, sometimes I like just how relaxing a nice shirt can make me look. Not that I need one with all my fur, but I appreciate the fashion.”
The Leomon listened as Speed said that he probably would prefer to do something else than fishing. He nodded patiently. “And that’s okay. We can do a bunch of other stuff instead.” he answered. Quite a few things came to mind. There was a lot of fun things to do on a luxury yacht out at sea.
Speed then said that he was just happy with time alone with him, and that was fine with him. “Aw, that’s okay, we can just do that if you like.” Lantis assured him. All in all, he was happy to do anything with the cute blue drake, anything to distract them from other things and strengthen their relationship. Lantis had in fact noticed that Speed and Psych were arguing a little more lately, but, he hoped that keeping Speed’s mind away from that for a little while would be helpful.
After all, even if Lantis didn’t have brothers of his own, he was surrounded by siblings and he noticed how they behaved to each other. Yeah, Luke and Bellamy often argued, but he had witnessed them be on the verge of punching each other in one moment, then watching them make up, hug, and laugh together moments later. His partner Sophie and her brother Colin sometimes reacted to each other like that too. He hoped this rift between Speed and Psych would resolve soon.
Speed then mentioned that he’d rather like to try out something called “wakeboarding”. Lantis thought that sounded rather fun. “Okay, we could try that.” he said, eagerly. “Ah, right, let’s check with the Captain first, just to make sure it’s safe. I don’t know about safety at sea, but she does.”
If Speed would follow, Lantis climbed up to the cabin, where the yacht crew were controlling the vessel. “Captain Ranamon…” Lantis prompted to the officer. She turned and awaited his question. “My partner was wondering, would it be possible for us to go ‘wakeboarding’ today?”
“Hmm… probably not a good idea to do with the yacht itself…” Captain Ranamon replied. “However, I can call a specialized speedboat for that sorta thing within the hour if you really wanna do that. Sure thing, then Mr. Lantis.”
“Ah! Thankyou!” Lantis replied, so very much grateful. “Yeah, Speed, we can go wakeboarding then!” he repeated eagerly to his boyfriend, hoping he was happy for that.

"Oh, I see now," Speed said after Lantis had properly explained his stance on shirts. He smiled and patted his big lion boyfriend's chest. "I personally think you're too cute to be intimidating, shirt or no shirt, heheh. Then again, I am your boyfriend so I'm gonna say that no matter what. I do notice Zero behaving more when you or Sophie are around, though."
At least Lantis seemed to understand that Speed wasn't big on fishing, and he was cool with just spending some alone time with Lantis for a while. Speed smiled and nuzzled his face against Lantis's arm. "Thanks, Lanty." It was working, Speed was definitely distracted from the horrible life stuff going on and was purely focused on watching the view with his romantic partner. It was such a beautiful day out, and it was nice just feeling the warm air and seeing the clear blue water ripple. Sure, it was technically winter, but in Whitewater it always felt like a nice summer day.
When Speed suggested wakeboarding, he was pleased to hear that Lantis was willing to give it a go. Following the Leomon to the captain's cabin, the Ranamon captain said that they could call a special speedboat for that sort of activity. "Heck yes," Speed cheered, doing a fist pump in celebration. "I've always wanted to try it out! How about you, Lanty?" While Speed loved just plain old running, extreme sports were definitely the drake's jam as well, as shown by how much he loved playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Skate back at AEGIS HQ or watching videos on YouTube involving those sports.
They still had a little bit of time to kill before the boat came, however... how would the two spend that time? "Okay, so random question while we wait: if you had to become another Digimon entirely, what Digimon would you choose and why?"

Lantis purred at Speed’s words and petting, then chuckled. “Yes, that’s right. I learned all the way back from my time as a security officer in Terminus that people tend to behave more if they see a big guy around. As a Spadamon, well, I didn’t have much of a presence, but I could very much tell it was there when my seniors were around too. I like that notion. Hold a presence strong enough and there’s no fighting. But turn that presence into a threat and people do ending up fighting, as DATS learned.”
The ultimate fall of DATS was still something of a triumph in Lantis’s mind, and made him feel glad whenever he thought of it. That that monstrous director Suzuki was awaiting inquiries and trials in his disgrace was the icing on the cake, especially in how they had elbowed AEGIS out of the way when they had first made their appearance.
After the green light was given to their wakeboarding, Lantis led them back to the living room of the yacht. Speed asked if he ever wanted to try it out. “Well, there’s a lot of things I’ve wanted to try. I don’t suppose I’ve heard of wakeboarding though. I assume it’s like water-skiing? But if you want to do it, I’m happy to give it a go too…” he paused then looked down at his attire. “I should probably get changed first, I assume sea water will ruin these jeans. And it was difficult enough getting the yen out of Sophie to buy these in the first place. Excuse me while I do that.”
Lantis then changed into a pair of blue board shorts, also taking off his shirt if he was going to try out some sports in the water. When he returned, as they awaited their ride, Speed asked an interesting question that Lantis considered thoroughly.
“If I could become another digimon…” he repeated. “Well… of course I want a form where I keep my stature. And my hands too, they’re very useful for a lot of things, like this…” he caressed Speed gently around his chin. “But I’d also like to be able to fly too. It’s just so… brilliant being able to defy gravity like that. I love it when Sophie evolves me to GrapLeomon so I can fly. Ahh… so few digimon have both those abilities…” he thought back to his days in Terminus City. His former commander was an ExVeemon. A good digimon, tough, but fair, and ran a good clean operation. “While I’m happy to be a Leomon as is, if made to choose another, I’d be an ExVeemon, so I can still be strong, have my hands and fly.”
He wondered how Speed would react to this. He knew better than to ask the question in return though, given what he knew of the bullying that Speed and his brother went through when growing up.

DATS... yeah, Speed was really not fond of the days when those idiots were around. He disagreed with their entire notion. Send all Digimon back to the Digital World? Back to where all those painful memories were, the world where no one would even give Speed or Psych the time of day because of their abnormalities? Speed could never forgive that Suzuki for that. "I'm glad their gone," Speed said. "If DATS actually got their way, me and my brother's lives would've gotten a hell of a lot worse. Is it possible to completely hate the world you were born in?"
Moving on from that dark moment, Lantis asked if wakeboarding was like water-skiing. "Yeah, sort of! Think of it like this: skiing is to water-skiing, and snowboarding is to wakeboarding." Then they both paused and looked down at Lantis's attire, with the Leomon excusing himself to go and change, mentioning the Yen he had to get out of Sophie to buy those clothes in the first place. The Speedramon couldn't help but chuckle at that.
Speed simply waited by the edge of the yacht railing for Lantis to get back. He smiled when he saw Lantis return now wearing only a pair of blue board shorts. "Blue is definitely your color," Speed told him as Lantis returned to his side, "it's no wonder you like me so much~"
In response to Speed's question, Lantis mulled it over for a bit as he caressed Speed's chin. The drake couldn't help but smile, closing his eyes as his head moved upwards in response. He loved it when Lantis did stuff like that, caressing his chin, holding his shoulder, rubbing his belly... of course said stomach would plummet when he heard Lantis's answer: an ExVeemon.
"An... ExVeemon..." Speed said, his voice failing him as he tried to sound positive, "Of course, that's... that's a great choice! Heh... you know, my dad was an ExVeemon, actually. Yeah, Mom told us about him, about how... about how he just abandoned us and... never came back... before Mom abandoned me and Psych to the Village... yeah..."
Okay... that went dark fast.

Lantis couldn’t find anything to say against Speed’s question, of hating the world he had came from. All he felt was regret that he didn’t save him and his brother from what they had gone through in their past. But, alas, he could not do anything about the past, so, all he could try and do was to make the present and future better for them.
And the present involved wakeboarding. “Okay then! That sounds rather fun actually, although I expect to splash down a lot to start off with. No matter, I’m good at swimming.”
Once Lantis had finished changing, he returned to the cabin. He purred at Speed’s compliment. “Yeah, you being blue is the many things I like about you, Speed.” he said, playfully. “I’ll reveal the other things I like about you in due time.”
Then it seemed like an anvil fell between them when Lantis revealed the answer to Speed’s question. Honestly, the Leomon thought that Speed might have liked that answer, but it turned out that he had a deadbeat ExVeemon dad that had abandoned him. That shattered Lantis’s flirty mood and replaced it with concern.
“Oh… crap, I’m so sorry, Speed, I had no idea…” Lantis spluttered. “That’s absolutely horrible… I didn’t mean to bring something like that up… just…” yeah, he had a good acquaintance in his former ExVeemon boss, but he supposed bringing it up would just make things worse. The Leomon took a deep breath to calm himself, then thought about his options here. How could he be a good boyfriend to Speed in this moment? Well… Sophie had told him that communication was always best, so, best to make sure there was no misunderstandings.
“Do you… maybe want to talk about that sometime, Speed?” he offered. “Probably not right now, because I’m rather in shock about it and I don’t think I’d be very helpful to you in this moment, but, if you’d like to talk about it later, I’d be very much willing to listen to what you have to say.”
Lantis couldn’t have been more clear about his feelings at this time. He hoped that he hadn’t ruined the day by bringing up Speed’s memories about his father, which seemed to be most unfortunate.
Shortly afterward, he heard the sound of approaching engines. “Ah, I think our wakeboarding boats are here now. Do you want to head out?”

"It shouldn't be too hard, as long as you hold onto the rope and keep your balance," Speed said, on the topic of wakeboarding. "But yeah, expect at least some wipeouts when you try a new extreme sport for the first time. When I got my holosuit, I decided to give skateboarding a try. Of course, I'm awesome at it now, but back when I was first starting... well, let's just say the other humans at the skate park were amazed I only walked away with minor scratches."
Speed couldn't help but smile when Lantis said he liked that he was blue. He felt like he should say something he liked about Lantis, as well. "In that case... I like how you're so supportive of those you're close to, especially me. It just feels right talking to you, and I feel comfortable enough to tell you things I don't even tell my brother about."
Yeah, an anvil dropping was the perfect description of how Lantis's response to Speed's question went. The Leomon tried to apologize to Speed, saying he had no idea about any of that. "It's alright, Lanty, I know you didn't," Speed said with a smile, still trying to put on his faux positivity. "I don't say a lot about myself, to anyone. I dunno why. I just try to forget about all the bad stuff, try to go on being a happy little Speed... then something happens that makes me forget to put on the act for a bit, and then people start to worry. I don't want to make others worry about me, so I pretend I'm all fine. But... yeah, I'm not as fine as I let others think I am. I'm a mess inside, Lanty. But... please don't tell the others, alright? To the rest of AEGIS and the world, there's nothing wrong inside ol' Speed's head here."
It wouldn't be too long after that that the speedboat would be heard arriving. Lantis asked Speed if he wanted to head out. "Of course, I do. Lead the way, 'buff Simba,'" Speed said, making a callback to what Vergil had called Lantis during their initiation to AEGIS.

Lantis couldn’t help but smile and pat Speed’s shoulder as he said that he liked how supportive he was to those he cared about. “Thank you, I didn’t know that you valued that about me… so I’ll do my best to keep up with that.” the Leomon said, cheerfully.
That all faded with the revelation of Speed’s dropbeat father. Lantis never had a father himself, so he didn’t initially know how to handle this. Thankfully Speed was understanding. Even if alarm bells rang in the Leomon’s mind about his coping mechanisms.
“Yes, I promise that I won’t tell anyone about this.” he replied. “But, I think that there’s a time where we’ll need to discuss this, my darling. Pretending to hide the pain is never healthy. But I promise you that I will never betray your confidence. However, it’s my duty as someone that cares about you to help you overcome problems in your life, so, this shall be something I’m willing to work with you to solve. After all, I know plenty of good fathers. Humans and digimon. Mr. James, Owen, even Bellamy.”
While the Impmon was a little dubious in his conduct, Lantis had never seen him interact with his daughter Gaz in a negative way. She made the boundaries, he respected them, and the few times she lowered them, he was respectful.
When Speed called him ‘Buff Simba’ as the speedboat arrived, Lantis giggled as the tone of their situation shifted. “Hehe, okay, you… uh… sexy fully grown Mushu” he had to dig down within his memories for a similar compliment.
The speedboat was ready, and the digimon aboard – an Orcamon and Geckomon waved to them. “So, who’s going first?” the Geckomon asked, the wakeboard attached to the aft and ready for use.
“I think you should go first, darling.” Lantis said to Speed, jumping into the rear of the boat. “You show me how it’s done, babe~” he encouraged with a purr.

"I dunno, hiding them has worked out so far in the long run," Speed said to Lantis. "It's like that fox character said in the Zootopia movie we watched... 'never let them see that they get to you.' I don't really need a father figure anymore anyways, that ship sailed long ago. I just wanna pretend my past never happened."
In all honesty, Speed never even truly met his father before. The last time he saw him was from a time he couldn't even remember, and he didn't even care that much. But his mother was another story entirely. "Do you mind if I ask you something a tad bit less serious, Lanty?" Speed would ask. If Lantis said yes, Speed would continue.
"Psych and I don't exactly agree about our mother, Akane," Speed admitted. "That's what Psych and I were arguing about before today. She wants to be in our lives more and make up for what she's done, but Psych wants nothing to do with her, especially since she worked with Grandmaster. I want to give her another chance, since she helped me cope with Psych disappearing. What do you think, Lanty?"
The compliment Lantis gave Speed wasn't as catch as "Buff Simba," but the drake loved it anyways, nuzzling his face on Lantis's arm as they walked towards the speedboat. Lantis suggested that Speed give the wakeboarding a try first. "Just watch and learn," Speed said in response, despite it being the first time he would go wakeboarding as well.
Speed held on tight as the boat picked up speed. It was a lot tougher than he expected, just hanging on to the rope attached to the boat. But it wouldn't take long before he got into the rhythm of it. The feeling was exactly what he needed. Sure, he could run as fast as the Flash, but sometimes it was nice to not have to do the actual moving himself. Lantis could surely see the joy on the Speedramon's face as he felt comfortable enough to start doing minor stunts while he was wakeboarding.

Lantis had to sigh and shake his head at what Speed said to him. Ordinarily he would have let it pass, but, this was something that he felt so strongly against that he at least had to put his foot down and let it be known that he would not settle for that course of action. But he didn’t want to ruin their valentine’s voyage, so he’d state a more neutral opinion.
“I don’t like to pretend things when it comes to love, my darling.” he said, gently. “I understand that it’s difficult to you, and I won’t pressure you at this time, but, I want our relationship to be built upon truths. And since I can tell you’re hurting from something in your past, I can’t pretend it doesn’t exist. But, that’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it right away. I didn’t intend for us to talk about it today anyway, just… let’s leave it for another time. I’ll agree on that.”
Lantis then listened for what came next. Speed asked him for advice about what to do with his mother. The Leomon was quite shocked about what their situation was. And given he knew little of mothers himself, other than his partner’s mother, Mrs James, he paused for a moment before feeling confident enough to answer.
“I think you should be open but careful about how to approach your mother.” Lantis replied. “She is family, yes, but, she betrayed your trust in the past, if she worked with this ‘grandmaster’ that caused so much harm. At the very least, she owes you a full explanation of her actions before you can even think about trusting her again.”
The Leomon hoped he wasn’t being too heavy-handed about this, but, he was thinking about what he would do if his own family situation ended up like this. And as a rookie security guard of Terminus City as a Spadamon, he was fairly used to people telling lies to get out of difficult situations. He felt a little bad for telling Speed that this could be one of those situations with his own mother, but, he didn’t want him to leave himself open to getting hurt again.
As they made their way onto the speedboat, Lantis eagerly watched how it went about. It seemed the key was to use the board to glide over the water, using the speed of the boat to make such a thing possible. Of course, it seemed the key was to keep hold of the rope, and also to keep their feet firm on the board.
Lantis soon cheered Speed on as he showed off some tricks. Feeling the wind in his fur and seeing the enjoyment on his boyfriend’s face, he decided that yeah, this was definitely something fun that he wanted to try. Even if he did a blunder, well, it wasn’t like he couldn’t swim.
“Magnificent, my darling!” Lantis called out to Speed after a particularly impressive stunt, given the waves were growing a little choppy. Nothing too dangerous, but occasionally one appeared that was as effective as a big ramp.

Speed took a moment to process Lantis's words before he let out a sigh. His mate had a point... he probably should've gone to see some sort of therapist by this point. But Lantis was also right that right now just wasn't the best time to talk about such a thing. So, Speed took a breath before he responded.
"Yeah... I promise, I will talk to you more about when I'm ready," Speed said, "it's just... yeah, right now's not a good time. The words were just coming out and they wouldn't stop. I want us to have fun since I love you so much." Speed would then hug his lion boyfriend before giving him a kiss on the cheek, in an attempt to reignite the feeling that their outing had started out on.
When Speed had asked for advice about how to deal with his mother, Lantis gave some pretty solid advice. He took the reasonable approach, warning Speed to be cautious with her since she DID betray his trust before. He even said that she owed him an explanation of her actions before he can even be able to trust her again.
"She did explain it to me," Speed admitted. "She thought she was doing what was best for us... it backfired in her face, sure, but I think she's... well, nice. And trustworthy. She at least tried to look after us in her own odd way. But my brother won't even hear her out, and that's what the problem is. I just want him to hear her out... she's not that bad, I swear."
The actual wakeboarding itself felt amazing to Speed. Usually, he liked going super-fast, but that almost always involved using his legs and using up all of his energy. But with this, the speedboat still went moderately fast, so all Speed had to worry about was holding onto the rope tight and making sure he kept his balance. He smiled greatly as Lantis complimented the drake after one of his more impressive stunts.
"YOU GOTTA TRY THIS, LANTY," Speed called out to Lantis before a rather big wave caught the drake off guard, causing him to let go of the rope and bail big time, leaving him merely floating in the water behind the boat with the board not too far away from him. Lantis wouldn't have to worry about his love for too much longer, however, since Speed quickly recovered and even managed to use his speed to run on the water and get back on the boat with the board. "Did you see that wipeout? I almost swallowed a bunch of water back there!" Speed said with a laugh and a smile on his face.

Lantis gladly returned the hug and kiss from Speed. This was something they could work out in the future. The Leomon was so confident about this after all, that once they were settled in their relationship that they could make a start of solving problems such as this. But to dwell on such problems at a time when he just wanted to share a time of joy between them, he would speak no more about it for now.
Especially when there was yet another problem that Speed wanted to share with him. Lantis was glad that Speed was thinking constructively about his mother, that he could tell what her arguments and motivations were. But still, they were not problems that he could immediately solve. And so all he could do was smile and say “Whatever you decide with your mother, I’ll be there to support you.” and this was indeed a promise.
When Speed wiped out at one of his more adventurous attempts, Lantis almost wanted to dive into the water to save him, but was thankful to see that he could handle the situation by running on top of the water. The Leomon chuckled with realization, of course his wonderful boyfriend was able to do something like that.
“You were incredible, my darling.” he said in reply as Speed returned on board, giving him a proud hug. “And you’ve helped me settle with my decision to try this out too.”
Once Speed was brought back safely on board the speedboat, Lantis stood prepared to do something similar, wanting to wakeboard too.
“So… what should I do here, Speed?” he asked his boyfriend, looking at his equipment, namely just a wakeboard and the rope with the speedboat. “I’d very much like to ride the waves like you did just now, rather than tumble through them, as I fear I might with my inexperience.”

Speed was happy when Lantis hugged him when he came back on the boat. He just absolutely adored any time spent with his love, so of course he was willing to return the hug back. Since Speed was soaking wet, however, it would cause Lantis's fur to become a bit wet as well. But that didn't seem to matter much, since apparently Speed's go at wake-boarding was enough to convince him to try it out as well.
"Are you sure, Lanty?" Speed asked his boyfriend. "I have more experience with sports like this than you do, and it's a lot harder than it looks. How good are you at keeping your balance on fast moving things?"
Once Lantis had his equipment, he asked Speed what he was supposed to do. "Okay, so first, the rope is already tied up pretty short. You want it tied up short so that the boat can help you stand up. Next, let's get the actual board ready..." Speed would then bring Lantis to sit down on the swim step of the boat and proceed to help Lantis get his feet into the foot holes of the wakeboard, as well as tightening them up properly.
"Alright, the board's on good and tight! Next, you'll just wanna scooch into the water and line yourself up with the boat like I did. And when the boat starts to go, bend your knees as much as you can until you feel like you're over the top of your board. When that happens, and I swear I'm not tryin' to be ironic here, slowly stand up. And boom, you're wake-boarding! Simple enough, right?"
Once Lantis was in the water and ready to go, Speed would give one more piece of advice to the Leomon. "Oh, another tip... don't try to fight it once you get going! Just let the boat and the waves do their thing, alright, love?"
