Shizuka managed a nervous smile as Blitzwolfmon's tail began to wag rapidly. It was a funny sight and Stacy certainly didn't seem like she would be offended if Shizuka laughed but deeply engrained manners forced her to suppress the extent of her mirth. It would be rude to laugh at her, after all. "I suppose I just tend to be a touch jumpy, is all," she admitted, embarrassed. Of course, now that Stacy had mentioned her claws it was somewhat difficult to ignore them.
"Aegiochusmon are ultimate level digimon, so they are hardly common sights. Aside from the plant-based form we are familiar with, I believe the most common variants are holy, dark and cybernetic versions," Ala commented. "Of course, the dark variants are rather unsightly but the cybernetic and holy variants are pleasant enough to the eye, I suppose," she acknowledged. Lizzie ignored her comments on the various aesthetics of Aegiochusmon, Lizzie remained focused on the concept of DNA digivolution.
"So any digimon can fuse into one? Does it have to just be two digimon?" she asked curiously, trying to wrap her head around how this functioned. Ala sighed wearily at LIzzie's one track mind before answering.
"Any digimon have the potential to DNA digivolve together, yes, but it is not such a simple process," she corrected. "First of all, the digimon involved must be familiar with each other and must have some common goal in order to properly combine their data. As such, while it is not strictly speaking impossible for more than two digimon to DNA digivolve, such a process would grow exponentially more difficult as the number of digimon increases, every member of the fusion needing to know and trust all the others," she explained. "I understand that there are certain humans who can allow multiple digimon to more easily combine their power but as I understand it, that is a distinct phenomenon. It's not something I'm overly familiar with and the specific term seems to escape me.""
"Xros generals," Ric spoke up, startling Ala and both humans. While they all turned to look at him, he did not speak further and met their gazes impassively, evidently not feeling any need to elaborate now that he had given that information.

"Given how rough some people's lives can be it can be understandable to be jumpy so don't be too embarrassed. As I've learned being strong is not always easy and to complicate it further there are many forms of strength. Based on what I've seen so far you seem to have a strong sense of compassion." she said with a smile her appearance showing how gentle and benevolent her digimon form's true nature was. Maybe this was not uncommon for holy digimon but what did she know seeing as she was gentle even in her dark line if a bit more mischievious.
"The Digital World is filled with lots of fascinating species I've noticed some being cute and others kind of strange by human standards but all are unique people with their own desires. Maybe I'll even get to see the Aegiochusmon forms one day based on what you said, Ala." she said. Given her habit of finding trouble she had met some interesting opponents in her time as well as friendly digimon. Hell her first encounter with a mega digimon was a Piedmon and that almost went terribly wrong as she had only gotten her ultimate of her holy line a short time ago and was not quite aware of having alternate lines at the time.
Stacy listened as Ala explained to Lizzie about DNA digivolution and how it was very complex before she said "As far as I heard DNA digivolution is much more complex than regular digivolution and since twins tend to have that bond Ala mention such a process tends to come natural to them."
When Xros Generals were mentioned by Ric, Stacy looked at the little Budmon. When he would not elaborate she decided to take over as she said "While I don't have much experience with Xros Generals they seem to be similar to tamers in the regard of how they bond with their partners. However, unlike the average tamer who has either one or even two partners, Xros Generals command an army of digimon. A Xros General utilizes a unique form of digivolution among their partners called a Digi Xros."

Shizuka did seem to relax slightly at Stacy's kind words but quickly tensed up again when Lizzie scoffed loudly. "Life's rough all around. That just means you have to be rough back," she asserted firmly, her scowl all but daring anyone else to disagree. Shizuka was far too shy to argue and Ric seemingly didn't care but Ala didn't hesitate to speak up.
"While I certainly agree that Shizuka could use more confidence, I would hardly say that being 'rough' is the answer," she interjected calmly. "With a little confidence and a careful choice of words, one can smooth out any rough situation and negate the need for any unpleasantness," she explained, unfazed by the glare Lizzie was giving her.
"So instead of dealing with problems, you just talk shit and weasel your way out of them?" she challenged aggressively. Ala's pleasant smile briefly flickered into a frown at Lizzie's crude language before she sighed dramatically.
"The inclination to deal with problems through the most direct methods can be... admirable," she admitted, the intonation on the last word suggesting she meant something far less complimentary. "But why on Earth would one choose to do that when a few simple, well-placed words can prevent the situation from escalating to a problem at all. Prevention is the best cure, after all," she said confidently. Lizzie rolled her eyes, practically dripping in contempt, but Shizuka quickly spoke up before their argument could escalate.
"So these Xros Generals have armies that can Digi Xros together in the same way that you two can DNA digivolve?" she asked aiming to change the subject. Surprisingly, it was Ric who answered.
"Easier. Weaker alone," he grunted shortly, though once again he didn't deign to elaborate. This time, Ala picked up in his place.
"Indeed. While these digimon can combine in greater numbers to achieve stronger forms, they have a harder time digivolving by themselves," she explained. "While you, as our tamers, can help us to digivolve and reach higher forms naturally, with DNA digivolving serving as an extra boost, those digimon who partner with a Xros General tend to be almost entirely reliant on their allies to gain any significant amount of power."

"While I agree there are times where one has to be rough many times that is not the case, Lizzie. Ala is right about the blunt direct approach not always being ideal. For example what if you were up against an opponent that clearly outclassed you in power. You can't just win that battle with physical strength alone. However this is where either the right words or even turning a foes' strength against them would be smarter." Stacy said before she said "Lizzie, I have a question but you don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable to do so. Lizzie why are you so eager to solve everything through fighting? Fighting doesn't solve everything."
"From what little I've witnessed of Xros Generals it seems they have a digimon known as a Primary Partner and it can even be a set of twins. Whether twins or not the Primary Partner seems to be the backbone of the fighting force being a bit stronger than most of the rookies in the army. I don't know very much as I have more info in regards to Spirit Wielders, Tamers, or unpartnered digimon as I have encountered those far more often."

Lizzie scowled at Stacy's question, incensed. "So just because you might lose a fight, you should just back down? Hell no!" she disagreed vehemently. "Doesn't matter how much stronger somebody else is. If they push me then I'll push back and at least make them work for it if they want to knock me down," she stated firmly. Shizuka stared at her, eyes wide, while Ric briefly looked away from Stacy to cast a glance at her, though his look seemed disapproving. The pragmatic Budmon was concerned with survival over all else. While he may not be the social butterfly his sister was, he knew that going into a doomed fight or the sake of pride was foolish. Ala was similarly unimpressed and much more vocal about it.
"Your conviction is admirable but your judgement, less so," she remarked, her voice taking on a gently chiding tone. "Being willing to fight for your beliefs is admirable when it is necessary but jumping directly to confrontation is foolish. Even if you win a hundred fights, it will only leave you tired and vulnerable for the next one," she pointed out reproachfully.
"Then I'll fight a hundred and one times, or as many times as I need to. I'm not about to back down from a fight just because it's hard," Lizzie scoffed disdainfully.
"I don't think they mean you should back down, per se," Shizuka offered hesitantly. She winced when Lizzie turned to glare at her, reflexively tightening her grip on Ric and then gasping quietly as she once again pricked her palms on his thorns. Steeling herself, she continued to speak, albeit with a hushed voice. "I mean, you could just maybe try to solve things other ways before resorting to picking a fight."
"Waste of time," Lizzie shot her down bluntly. "If people care enough about whatever they're pulling to get chopsy, they're not going to change their mind just because I dress it up with some pretty words. And if they don't care enough, they'll back down quick enough and that's that sorted," she shrugged.

"No one is saying not to fight exactly. I was saying that you just have to be strategic about it at times. For example if against a stronger opponent you can possibly find a way for them to do themselves in. Works well especially against arrogant digimon with a lot of power." Stacy said silently admiring the teen for her guts before she then said "Contrary to how I look I was once a bit of a scrappy kid. When I or my brothers were bullied I fought back. I didn't start looking at more strategic methods until I was a bit older when I was about your age, Lizzie. You desire to stand up to any foe is indeed admirable but you also have to be able to accept your own limitations."
It seemed Lizzie was not the easiest person to rationalize with and even shot a glare at Shizuka which caused Stacy to sigh before she said "Lizzie, please stop acting as if the entire world is out to get you. I was a lot like you are and I was able to listen to reason. If you are not careful your own anger will cause you more problems."

That Stacy's logic was reasonable did little to calm Lizzie's fraying temper. "And how long might it take to get some idiot digimon to do themselves in? How long are you going to have to pretend like you're not wanting to knock their teeth in? If an opportunity to get a leg up on them comes, great, but I'm not daft enough to think the world will just offer up a perfect opportunity if I play nice and wait long enough," she growled irritably. "Maybe I won't win but I'll have a better chance if I keep trying than if I just wait around for a lucky break," she argued.
"But... digimon sound like they can be dangerous," Shizuka pointed out, concerned. "If you lose a fight with one, you might not get the chance to try again," she said. That briefly drew Lizzie up short, especially as Ala nodded along in solemn agreement. While she had taken more than her fair share of cuts and bruises over the years, she had never been in a situation where she felt like she was in legitimate danger of worse than a beating if she lost. That hesitation only lasted a moment, however, before she set her feet and doubled down.
"If that happens, it happens," she insisted stubbornly. "I'm not going to suddenly start acting all shy and proper just because it might end up having some bad consequences," she said firmly.
"As somebody who has experienced death, I feel that calling it a 'bad consequence' may be somewhat insufficient to get across the import of such a loss," Ala interjected, drawing an affirmative grunt from Ric. "And unless I am very much mistaken, death is likely to be a great deal more permanent for you," she added dryly.
"Don't care," Lizzie insisted, glaring at Ala, Shizuka and Stacy in turn. "And if other people get upset about it, that's their problem, not mine. Most people aren't worth the the time it takes to talk to them anyway," she snapped. Ala sighed dramatically once again.
"It suddenly occurs to be that I may have been a touch hasty in criticizing Ric earlier. I suppose there are worse things than remaining silent," she admitted regretfully, drawing Lizzie's ire to her once again.
"And maybe you should either take your own advice and keep quiet or at least have the guts to say what you mean straight instead of dancing around the subject," she snapped.

Stacy inhaled deeply through her nose before she began to message her temples as if trying to will away a headache that was threatening to burst forth if the yelling continued. She, however, was not wanting to stoop to yellng as well. Based on what she had seen of Lizzie so far who knew what would happen if she shouted in return. After a few more deep breaths while listening to the conversation between Lizzie, Shizuka, and Ala continued on.
Finally Lizzie said something that shredded Stacy's patience but somehow she didn't respond by yelling as she said "What about, Shizuka? Don't you remotely care how it would affect her if something happened to you during a fight with a digimon. As someone who lost a friend last year to aggressive digimon I am still a mess. I can only imagine how bad Shizuka would feel if something happened to you. Maybe you should stop thinking about yourself for one damned minute and get that temper of yours back in check young lady." Stacy said in a tone copied from her mother when she was angry with her kids. Not only that her posture was not remotely passive anymore as she was taking the posture of an alpha personality type. This characteristic was very prevalent for her when she was angry or threatened.

As Lizzie and Ala had argued, Shizuka had grown increasingly nervous and this was not helped when Stacy spoke up, clearly drawing near the end of her own patience. "Ah, well, I'd be upset of course but I'm sure Lizzie didn't mean to-" she began to attempt to defuse the situation but Lizzie cut across her.
"People die. It sucks but it happens and then life moves on," she snapped with a grimace, a pang of her own grief racing through her as her mind automatically went to her mother. Naturally, this grief only further aggravated her as she stepped up closer to Stacy, refusing to be intimidated. "Shizuka would be upset but she'd get over it, just like everyone else has to do. She got along just fine before we knew each other and she's not such a fragile little flower that she'll fall completely to pieces if something happens to me," she insisted before briefly grimacing. "Well, not for long anyway. She's not as weak as she usually acts," she admitted reluctantly.
"Come now, does this really need to be fought over now?" Ala hastily interjected, trying to pick up Shizuka's aborted efforts to cut the argument off before it could escalate further. "This is all in a hypothetical situation that may never arise. There are no hostile digimon around at present, assuming of course that my senses and those of my brother and of Stacy herself have not failed to pick up an incoming energy, and should such a problem arise in the future, I am sure that between the four of us we can find some way to avoid any undesired fatalities," she offered placatingly.
"That's-that's right," Shizuka quickly agreed. "We might not run into any dangerous digimon at all, so there's no need to argue about it," she said hopefully. Lizzie huffed irritably, clearly not convinced, but was too busy glaring at Stacy to argue with them.

Stacy then took notice of how Shizuka tried to mitigate the issue before things could escalate more which made Stacy stop her posture returning to a more neutral one again even though Lizzie had snapped again. Turning to the angry teen and taking a deep breath, she said "Sounds like you are dealing with your own grief and that it was someone close to you." Stacy was getting that vibe from the hostile teen as she understood such a pain all too well having lost her mother when she was eighteen. Yes older than Shizuka and Lizzie but still pretty young by human standards to lose a parent. Her hand clenching into fists she said "I know how much it hurts to face that kind of pain as I lost my mother when I was eighteen. I know it has been many years but it still rattles me to this very day." Using the words many years might confuse the girls seeing as despite being forty she looked freaky young looking no older than twenty five tops.
Unclenching her fists she looked at Ala and said "You're right about this not being something to fight over. I just don't handle negative emotions as well as others and when I get overwhelmed with all the negative energy I tend to go volcanic."

Stacy's sudden change of tack left Lizzie momentarily floundering, made all the worse by the accuracy of what she said next. She scowled furiously at the reference to her mother's passing but as Stacy admitted to losing her own mother, she found herself reluctant to keep arguing. For all her brutal honesty and lack of tact, even she had some limits about how far she would go to push somebody. Not willing to continue pushing on that topic but not willing to appear to give in either, she elected to change the subject. "Many years ago? How old are you anyway?" she asked bluntly, with all the delicacy of a charging bull.
"Elizabeth!" Shizuka hissed, her indignation over the impropriety briefly winning out over her shyness. She turned to Stacy and bowed her head apologetically. "I'm very sorry for your loss. And please, you don't need to apologize. Lizzie has her own way of dealing with negativity and while it may come across as abrasive, it's only because she really cares very much," she said sincerely.
"Oi, what did I say about speaking for me?" Lizzie grumbled, though her tone was only mildly irritated rather than actually angered as she had been previously.
"Now now, there's no need for further arguing," Ala spoke up with a smile, relieved that the situation had been defused, at least for the moment. "Spirits may have risen a bit high but cooler heads have prevailed and we should be grateful that we have avoided any further needless unpleasantness," she said. Ric didn't appear to react but internally he was also relieved that the situation had deescalated. Had things come to a fight, he was very aware that Stacy would have the overwhelming advantage even if she chose not to use any higher forms.

Lizzie being as blunt and as lacking in tact as Stacy seemed to be asked how old she was. It didn't bother her like it could bother other women. To be honest she didn't understand all the fuss involved with getting older as to her age is just a number. Maybe it was because she looked young and wouldn't look old likely for decades. "Don't worry. I'm not bothered I am getting older now since to me age is just another number. Believe it or not I am actually forty years old and the digimon spirit I have access to was inherited from my mother who had that spirit and all its forms at the time first. She died before she was able to track down all the spirits though."
"Yeah sorry bout losing my cool. I am usually a tranquil easy going spirit but I have a bit of a hot head and am blunt as a rock since my tact is terrible. At least normally I don't mean to upset others." Stacy said.

Both Lizzie and Shizuka were surprised at hearing Stacy's true age, though Shizuka made a much better effort at hiding it than Lizzie, who unabashedly raised her eyebrows and gave Stacy a second once-over. Ala and Ric, meanwhile, didn't have much of a reaction, having little idea what humans of various ages were meant to look like."Forty? Wouldn't have guessed," Lizzie admitted frankly, ignoring the flicker of irritation that passed over Shizuka's expression at her bluntness.
"Ah, it's really no trouble," Shizuka said, raising one hand from holding Ric to wave Stacy's apology away. "It's perfectly understandable and didn't cause any-" she began only to be cut off.
"Oi, what happened to your hand?" Lizzie interrupted, noticing the faint red scratches on her palm. While Ric's thorns hadn't opened any deep wounds on her hands, they had left visible marks, much to Lizzie's consternation.
"Oh, um, they're just some small scratches is all," Shizuka hurriedly answered, quickly lowering her hand and turning her palm away from the others in a futile attempt to hide it.
"Then maybe stop grabbing on to Ric when he's the one who caused it," Lizzie snapped indignantly, stomping over to Shizuka and grabbing her wrist. "You're the one who's going to pitch a fit if you wind up getting blood on your outfit and I don't want to have to deal with that," she said, examining Shizuka's hand.
"I must agree with Elizabeth on this matter," Ala spoke up, concerned. "I doubt Ric would be overly indignant to have to stand on the ground and while he may not appear to be the most friendly of sorts, I certainly don't think he would want you to do yourself injury," she pointed out. Sure enough, Ric took advantage of the loose, one handed grip Shizuka had on him to jump from her arms and land on the ground. He half turned back to his partner, never quite letting Stacy leave his field of vision, and his frown seemed to deepen at the sight of her other hand, equally scratched up.
"It's really nothing," Shizuka protested, though her words were undercut by the fact that she was pointedly avoiding looking at her palms while Lizzie examined them.

Stacy paid Lizzie's bluntness no mind as she chuckled softly before she said "Yeah I get that all the time. One of the tricky part about having a baby face. It took till my early thirties to stop looking like a teenager so you could only imagine how awkward it would be for me to be handling my own business like shopping or bill paying back then. At least the odd looks have for the most part stopped since I at least look like a young adult."
When Lizzie mention Shizuka's hand Stacy looked at the other teen who was now trying to hide the scratches. Sure they weren't bad but still fairly concerning. "Easy, Lizzie. You know Ric can't help that he has thorns on his body. This just means Shizuka will have to be more careful when holding him from now on especially moreso if he continues to have thorns at higher stages."
"While it may not be bad it should at least be tended to. I have a first aid kit in my backpack which has come in handy since I started wondering the Digital World and getting in fights."

"Ric may not be able to help having thorns but Shizuka should be smart enough not to grab onto them," Lizzie growled, still concerned about Shizuka's hands. While they weren't seriously hurt, she had little doubt that they stung more than a little and Shizuka wasn't exactly used to physical pain the way Lizzie was.
"Indeed. No matter how unfriendly he may seem, Ric is a practical sort. He's not going to expect you to injure yourself carrying him," Ala agreed, hopping over next to Ric.
"I wouldn't say I injured myself exactly. They're just scratches, nothing to worry about," Shizuka protested, cheeks flushing red. "I really don't want to be a bother and- oh!" Shizuka cut herself off as Lizzie, rolling her eyes, forcibly yanked her hands up to Shizuka's eye level, pointed the scratched up palms back at her. Paling slightly, Shizuka swallowed nervously at the sight of the scratches, never particularly comfortable with blood.
"Don't be stupid," Lizzie said firmly. "You need to get your hands patched up, she has a first aid kit. We'll get your hands sorted a lot quicker if you don't waste time arguing about it," she insisted to the now silent girl.
