With the Jackal Unit and Arlo, the Spy looked over at the unconscious Agumon when the SymbareAngoramon asked if he was the team’s target. “Him? No, if he was our target, he’d already be dead and we wouldn't be here. He was simply a witness we knocked out to remove a potential obstacle. He’ll wake up in a few hours and be fine."
Seeing that Arlo likely wasn’t going to back down, the four Sealsdramon surrounding Arlo raised their primary melee weapons. For a moment, the standoff was perfectly still until a single leaf danced by on the breeze. At that moment, the Spy, Pyro, and Heavy charged at Arlo simultaneously while the Medic stayed back. He wasn’t good at fighting directly, so he was simply making sure Arlo wasn’t able to hop away so easily by flinging scalpels at the SymbareAngoramon.
With NeoDevimon, the raging demon didn’t seem to be too concerned with the fact he’d hit the wrong target, merely looking at Luneth with disinterest before casually flinging the wounded Hackmon to the side like a piece of trash. The moment SuperShoutmon digivolved, however, NeoDeivmon’s six eyes immediately snapped back onto his golden foe. “O̶̗̊M-̶̰̋N̷̥̈́I̶͓͝Ị̶̚I̸͘ͅĮ̸͠Ỉ̵̳Ỉ̵̙I̸̭̕Ḯ̴̼İ̷̪I̷̩̓Ǐ̴̭I̶̞͆Ì̶̞!̶̤̏”̸͎͒
As OmniShoutmon charged forward with his energy blade, NeoDevimon attempted to avoid the attack by dissolving into a swarm of bats, but his opponent’s energy blade still managed to harm NeoDevimon in his scattered state by striking some of the bats themselves. When the demon reformed a ways away, he had a noticeable gash on his torso correlating to the dead bats. NeoDevimon hissed at the pain but kept its gaze solely on his opponent. The Sealsdramon didn't give Arlo an answer about who their true target was, but his gut was telling him that it was one of his allies in the clearing. The most obvious answer was Adrian and/or Shoutmon, since they seemed the type to have made some enemies in the past. Arlo laid the unconscious Agumon down against a tree before turning back to the four Sealsdramon that had surrounded him.
Their individual power levels alone feel lower than they should be... almost like a Rookie's. But there's multiple of them... I cannot let my guard down here.
His eyes darted back and forth at each of them. Each one was holding a different weapon: a combat knife, a mini-gun, medical kit and hacksaw, and a flamethrower. There was also a fifth one somewhere, whom Arlo assumed had a sniper rifle. Based on this knowledge, he had to assume that the one with the medical kit was a healer of some kind. He was important to take down first, but the team probably already knew that. No, Arlo couldn't go straight for the healer... he had to trick them somehow.
Then, three of the four visible Sealsdramon charged right at Arlo simultaneously. Only the medic had stayed back, presumably to do something if Arlo had simply hopped out of the way. Unfortunately for this unit, that is not what Arlo chose to do. The wind around them all picked up as Arlo's ears began to move all on their own as they extended outward. "Roundhouse!"
Then, with a quick movement, Arlo spun around, in an attempt to attack the entire unit at once, since they all were somewhat nearby.
The battle between OmniShoutmon and NeoDevimon was picking up. NeoDevimon tried to dodge OmniShoutmon's blade attack, but the attack itself still managed to hit a few of the bats that NeoDevimon had turned into. When he reformed, there was a considerable gash on his chest from where the attack was struck.
But OmniShoutmon wasn't done. Even as NeoDevimon was reforming, the golden dragon man had turned around, ready to deal more damage to this monster. Adrian pulled out another card and slashed it.
"Lightning Implant activate!"
And just like that, OmniShoutmon vanished, seemingly invisible to the naked eye. The only moment he reappeared was when he was right in front of NeoDevimon, delivering a solidly powerful punch to the armor champion with his golden-charged fist.
"Twin Energy Strike!"
Arlo used "Roundhouse" to attack all of the Jackal Unit at once.

As the Sealsdramon trio moved in for their group attack, Arlo would respond with a spinning counterattack. While the Medic and Pyro were both knocked away from the SymbareAngoramon due to the force of his ears and the wind currents, the Spy and Heavy managed to stay on their feet long enough for their attacks from last turn to actually connect with Arlo (whether through either sheer brute force in the Heavy’s case, or the Spy skillfully managing his balance so as to not get knocked over).
While Arlo continued his attack, the Spy then took shelter behind the Heavy until their opponent stopped spinning. Once Arlo was open, the Spy used a gadget on his wrist to make himself invisible so he could sneak around Arlo and stab him in the back.
Over with the main fight, it would become obvious that, as much as NeoDevimon was willing to keep throwing hands with OmniShoutmon, the sheer power difference between the two was simply too great in their current forms. With Adrian boosting his partner's speed with a card, OmniShoutmon’s fist impacted NeoDevimon’s face hard enough that it literally punched the corrupted digimental out of the Armor Champion, sending NeoDevimon flying as he reverted into a Soundbirdmon. The concussed Rookie ended up impacting a few feet away from where the Jackal Unit was fighting Arlo, where Abaddon simply lay twitching as he slowly regained his wits. “Ooooowww.”
After the Soundbirdmon’s impact, the Jackal Unit simultaneously looked over at their (unknown to Adrian and Co.) senseless employer before shifting their gaze over to OmniShoutmon.
Jackal Unit: 2/3rds of their attack from last turn managed to make it through to Arlo, and the Spy followed up with a stealth attack once Arlo stops spinning.

While Arlo was able to knock two of the four actively engaging Sealsdramon away, the other two had still managed to keep their footing, and both of their attacks collided with Arlo's weapon-like ears. Once his attack had concluded, the SymbareAngoramon was quick to notice that there were now only three Sealsdramons... and was just as quick to deduce that one of them had gone missing, or possibly gone invisible.
Arlo made sure to keep his guard up after that, even as he faced against the other visible Sealsdramons. Unfortunately, even he couldn't predict where the Spy was going to go, unless he was unlucky enough to step on a twig. Thus, unless something like that occurred, Arlo was helpless as he felt something sharp immediately stab into his back. "Argh-!" he yelped in pain. It hurt quite a lot, but at least he now knew where the Spy was. Arlo quickly spun around to face his backstabber and slashed at him back with the sharp tips on his ears. "Landlizer!"
Meanwhile, back with OmniShoutmon and NeoDevimon, it was clear who had won this battle. OmniShoutmon's attack hit NeoDevimon so hard that it practically sent him into next week, the corrupted Digimental flying right out of the armor champion as he reverted back to Soundbirdmon. Before he went to go chase after him, the golden draconian warrior took it upon himself to punch the corrupted Digimental, shattering it into hundreds of itty-bitty pieces.
"May you never corrupt another like that again."
Soundbirdmon would actually land just a few feet away from where Arlo and the Jackal Unit had been fighting, with Adrian and OmniShoutmon following not too far behind. The fighting between the group stopped as they all looked down at the severely beat up Soundbirdmon, only for all six of them to look up and see the very intimidating golden warrior looking down at all of them. OmniShoutmon's glance shifted over to Arlo almost immediately. "Arlo? Is that you?"
"Homeostasis... Luneth's description of you did not do you justice at all..."
"Do you want to explain the Sealsdramon, by any means?" OmniShoutmon asked, crossing his arms.
"Oh, yes... during your spar with SkullKnightmon, I heard a commotion coming from this area. When I arrived, I found the Sealsdramon rendering an Agumon unconscious, before discovering they had plans to assassinate their target, who I have to assume to be you."
OmniShoutmon took a few moments to process this information. He looked over at said unconscious Agumon, who was still resting against the bottom of the tree, and he looked at each and every single Sealsdramon there. Oddly enough, the Ultimate level didn't seem to be taken aback by the news that they planned to assassinate him. The golden clad dragon man simply smirked, punched his left palm with his right fist, and stared at the group of mercenaries.
"So I'm your target, eh? Well if that's true, why don'tcha try striking me now while I'm out in the open?"

As Arlo retaliated for being stabbed, the Sealsdramon assassin removed his knife from Arlo’s back and used it to try and parry the rabbit’s sharp appendages, only for his knife to be knocked out of his hand.
As OmniShoutmon crushed the corrupted digimental, with his fist, everyone present would bear witness to an unsettling sight. The shattered pieces of the dark digimental would all melt into globs of black ooze that all flowed together and congealed into the form of an Eyesmon Scatter Mode. The leech-like creature glared at OmniShoutmon with a gaze that the golden dragon would find eerily familiar, before the Eyesmon's mouth twisted into a taunting smirk as it started slithering away into the grass.
Meanwhile, the Jackal Unit all hesitated when OmniShoutmon openly challenged them to attack him. The Sealsdramons quickly glanced between each other simultaneously looking towards the Spy to make a judgment call. The Spy’s answer was simply to raise both hands into the air and back away from Arlo while he used his tail to grab his fallen knife and return the blade to its sheath.
“No, I don’t think we will. It seems clear now that this job is beyond salvaging.” The Spy said, clearly annoyed by how the team’s plan had fallen apart the way it had. “Men, we’re finished here.”
The Medic and Heavy both grumbled a bit, but ultimately put away their weapons and followed their leader’s lead. The Pyro, however, didn’t like the idea of just giving up, and quickly charged at OmniShoutmon with a fireman’s axe in his grip.
"Pyro, no!" The Spy quickly called out to his comrade, knowing the crazy pyromaniac had no chance at stopping OmniShoutmon on his own.

OmniShoutmon couldn't believe what he saw when he smashed SkullKnightmon's Digimental. Some kind of black ooze had resided within it, which flowed together and formed into something that looked a lot like an Eyesmon Scatter Mode. But that alone wasn't what unnerved OmniShoutmon... it was the look it gave him. An eerie gaze, alongside a taunting smirk... he had only seen that kind of look once before, but it was something that he would never forget.
No way... i-it CAN'T be him...!
As much as OmniShoutmon wanted to investigate this more, he still had NeoDevimon -- now Soundbirdmon -- to deal with. He and Adrian followed the flying rookie level Digimon over to where Arlo had been fighting the Jackal Unit. OmniShoutmon then issued a challenge to the lot of them, offering them to try and kill him right then and there. Naturally, their leader saw it best to surrender, raising his hands into the air and backing away slightly. He urged his teammates to do the same.
"Smart choice," OmniShoutmon said to the Spy. He turned his attention over to Arlo. "Arlo, could ya bring that Agumon back to the house, please? We have to be sure they're in good condition-"
"Pyro, no!"
OmniShoutmon turned his head back only to find one of the Sealsdramons charging right at him like a crazy person, wielding a fireman's axe, clearly intending to attack the golden dragon man head-on. Naturally, OmniShoutmon responded by kicking the Sealsdramon right in the middle, with the intent of just kicking him a bit out of the way to demonstrate how out of his league Pyro truly was.
"There's another matter I want to ask you four about," OmniShoutmon continued, staring at the Jackal Unit with a look of great intensity. "You were hired to kill me, yes? Exactly who hired you? And don't try to lie to me; trust me, I'll know."
"Is... your partner okay?" Arlo asked Adrian, the Agumon now resting calmly in the SymbareAngoramon's arms. "I don't recall ever seeing him this serious before."
"If Shoutmon has his game face on, then that means something really bad's happening," Adrian responded, now looking worried as he waited for the Jackal Unit's answer.

OmniShoutmon may have just been trying to knock the Pyro out of the way, but it would seem the golden dragon had underestimated how much force he put into the kick. The blow ended up sending the Pyro flying until he slammed into a nearby tree hard enough to crack the trunk. Naturally, it took the fire-obsessed assassin a few minutes to recover from getting the wind knocked out of him, but the pyromaniac wasn’t one to go down easily.
After recovering his senses, the Pyro walked forward while he pulled his flamethrower from his back. There was only one thing left for him to try, and that was to live up to his name and torch everything in sight. He made a show of having his weapon belch out a jet of flame into the air, and was about to start setting the clearing on fire when he was anti-climactically crushed by the same tree his impacted falling on him after he’d damaged the trunk.
Under the fallen tree, you could just make out the Assassin’s arm sticking out, scabbling around to try and get the massive trunk off, only for the limb to go completely still and crumble into data.
Nearby, the Spy could only look away after seeing his teammate’s unceremonious death, his hands clenching into fists as he fought to keep his emotions in check. “Curse you, Pyro. Why do… why did you never listen?”
Despite mourning the loss of his comrade, the Sealsdramon commander managed to look OmniShoutmon dead in the eye without flinching after the golden dragon asked who’d hired them. “No decent assassin would willingly sell out their client. It’s bad for business, since that kind of betrayal gets you blacklisted.”
The Sealsdramon would pause for a moment as he put a cigar in his mouth (somehow), lighting it with a portable lighter before taking a puff of the tobacco smoke. “Then again, our boss did tell us to pass on a message if you asked us, so you're in luck. I guess he wanted to gloat or something.”
After that, the assassin simply pulled out a folded note and held it out to OmniShoutmon and Adrian. If they took it, they’d find a particularly sinister message on it that would confirm Omnishoutmon’s earlier fear.
“Our business isn’t over yet, Omni. Next time you try to kill someone, make sure you’ve finished the job properly. You may have beaten me by catching me off-guard, but that won't happen again. Until we meet again, I’ll be watching from the shadows.

OmniShoutmon, Adrian, and Arlo could only watch as the domino effect from the Ultimate level's kick played out. The amount of force given with the kick was completely underestimated, and it sent the Sealsdramon right into a tree, hard enough to crack the trunk. OmniShoutmon's eyes widened in response. "Uh... whoops?"
It didn't end there, however. Pyro had gotten back up and pulled out his flamethrower weapon, still wanting to fight OmniShoutmon right then and there. And in a completely twisted change of fate, the tree Pyro had crashed into earlier had fallen right on top of him, killing him instantly. Everyone there stared in shock as they tried to process what the heck had just happened. "I... I didn't mean for it to play out like that. I'm truly sorry... but I assume you'll know where to find his egg?"
With that out of the way, OmniShoutmon began demanding the Spy to tell him who had hired the crew to kill him. Spy at first seemed like he would be difficult to crack, but then he revealed that their boss actually wrote a note for OmniShoutmon, most likely as some form of bragging. The golden dragon took the note and read it from top to bottom, his facial expression growing more and more grim as he continued reading.
"Shoutmon...?"
OmniShoutmon's face furrowed, gritting his teeth as he growled and slammed the piece of paper onto the ground. He set his sights on Spy before he dashed towards the Sealsdramon, slamming him into yet another tree in the blink of an eye. This time, however, he would hold back enough as to not kill him. "WHERE IS HE?! WHERE IS ABADDON?!"
"Shoutmon, what has gotten into you?" Arlo asked as Adrian picked up the note OmniShoutmon threw onto the ground. His own facial expression grew grim as well when he read it.
"No... no, not this Digimon..."
"That explains the Digimental," OmniShoutmon growled. "When I destroyed it, something looking like an Eyesmon Scatter Mode poured out of it. Either SkullKnightmon was possessed by the Digimental containing him... or SkullKnightmon is him."
"What in Yggdrasil's name are the two of you talking about?"
"A while ago, we faced an evil Eyesmon named Abaddon. He had the ability to trap others in a nightmare while he fed on their life energy."
"We beat the crap out of him, but he still managed to get away," OmniShoutmon growled, letting go of Spy now that his rage had died down a bit. "In that letter, he said he would be watching us from the shadows. Who's to say he hasn't already been?"
"Oh, god..." The thought of that made Adrian's stomach turn. Even Arlo looked a tad bit uneasy after hearing this story. Adrian picked up the still unconscious Soundbirdmon and turned towards the SymbareAngoramon. "Arlo, take the Agumon back to our house and wait for us there."
"What do the two of you plan to do in the meantime?"
"Well, we can't have these assassins running around on their own, can we?"

"Hmph, all we had permission to share was our employer's identity with that note. If you want more than that, then I'm afraid you're out of luck. Not that we could tell you even if we wanted to." The Spy replied, not even flinching as OmniShoutmon began screaming in his face and slammed him into a tree. "Do you think I fear you? When you've been in the assassination business as long as I have, you learn to make peace with the fact that your next job could be your last."
OmniShoutmon’s statement that they couldn’t let the assassins run on their own definitely had an ominous edge to it, and the leader of Jackal Unit could only interpret that as him intending to remove the assassin threat permanently. The assassin glanced around the area and had an idea when he noticed the tree that had crushed the Pyro, a pool of highly-flammable fuel leaking from the crushed remains of their precious flamethrower.
“Now, you could focus on getting rid of us, or you could focus on the more pressing concern.” The Sealsdramon said as he grabbed his cigar and flicked it onto the growing puddle of gasoline. The lit end of the cigar immediately caused the puddle to ignite, the flames quickly spreading out across the clearing to start a large fire that was moving dangerously close to Adrian and Shoutmon’s house. Once the fire started, the other two Jackals present immediately decided to book it while they had the chance. “Forest fires are much more dangerous, after all.”
Meanwhile, all the yelling had managed to finally wake the Soundbirdmon currently held in Adrian’s arms. “Ugh, what happened? Why do I feel like I got sledgehammered by a Zudo-JESMON CHRIST MODE, WHY’S EVERYTHING ON FIRE?!”

OmniShoutmon could do it. He could grab onto this Sealsdramon's head and squish it like a tasty, juicy grape. If this assassin just expected that this job would be his last, then he might as well bloody give it to him. So what was stopping the golden-clad dragon man from committing the deed? Ultimately, it was because he didn't want to ruin his good reputation that he had earned if he were to commit such a violent act. Plus, there was the fact that Adrian and Arlo would likely have been freaked out by the scene, not to mention how his family would feel if word of the deed were to get out. With an irritated grumble, he decided to just drop it. It was clear this spy was not going to cough up any more information on Abaddon.
Discussions on what to do about the mercenaries seemed to stop when the spy spoke up once again. He said they could focus on getting rid of the mercs, or they could focus on another pressing concern. "What are you talking about?" Arlo asked as Spy threw his lit cigar into the pile of gasoline that neither Adrian, OmniShoutmon, nor Arlo had thought about. The fire ignited immediately, and it was big. Not only that, but it was moving dangerously fast towards the city, specifically Adrian's and Shoutmon's house.
"OH, CRAP!" OmniShoutmon yelled as he took to the skies, with Arlo following suit after putting the Agumon somewhere safe. The Jackal unit had created a perfect opportunity to escape; they would be long gone before the fire was fully taken care of.
Right here was when Soundbirdmon woke up, and of course the first thing he had to ask was why everything was on fire. "First things first here," Adrian said, holding Soundbirdmon in his arm while he used one of his D-Arc cards. "Digi-Modify! Seadramon: Water Breath activate!"
While Arlo was using his wind-based abilities to contain the initial blaze in a tornado of wind to suck the oxygen out, OmniShoutmon used the Water Breath ability to drown out the fire trail that was heading right to Rosewood. It would take a few minutes, but ultimately the two of them had managed to completely snuff out the fire with minimal damage to the forest taken. "What a rotten trick they pulled," Arlo muttered as he went over to retrieve the Agumon.
"Those idiots aren't worth chasing after, anyways," OmniShoutmon said, glancing over at the Soundbirdmon in Adrian's arms. "The one we should actually be questioning is right there in your arms, Adrian."
"Oh. Do you want me to, uh... keep holding him? Or...?"
"What you're doing right now's fine." OmniShoutmon looked down at the Soundbirdmon with a calm yet still very intimidating presence. "Let's do this calmly to start. First of all... who are you, really? And how did you come across that Digimental?"

If it wasn’t obvious to see by now, Abaddon was really starting to regret his decisions today. What was SUPPOSED to be a simple sparring session to learn about his greatest foe had completely fallen apart due to his corrupted digimental apparently being too corrupted for him to control. Now here he was, reduced to a mere Rookie after going on a berserk rampage, stuck in Adrian’s arms while the Tamer/partner duo seemed to be suspicious as to his true identity. His only options at this point were to either A) try to digivolve out of Adrian’s hands and hope he has enough juice left in him to make a getaway (highly unlikely), or B) lie through his teeth and try to b@@@@@@@ his way out of this mess.
“Okay, okay! Jeez.” Abaddon “nervously” called out, feigning panic at OmniShoutmon’s display of tranquil intimidation. “My name’s Roland! The whole knight schtick was just so I could try and earn some street cred by facing you in a duel!I found that crazy digimental while exploring an old ruined temple out in the Western Flatlands, and had to run for my life while being chased by this freaky banshee thing! I swear I didn’t know the dang thing was cursed or possessed or whatever, or else I would have never kept it. I’M SORRY, I NEVER MEANT FOR THINGS TO END UP CAUSING A FOREST FIRE!”
The best part about this act? It wasn’t even 100% fake. Abaddon knew he was in a very bad position right now, and was actually worried that he wouldn’t be able to get out of it alive. At full power, he could probably face Shoutmon to a standstill, but after the earlier beatdown? Abaddon did not have much faith in his chances.

So... according to the Soundbirdmon, his name was actually Roland, and he had pretended to be a knight in order to earn some recognition by facing against Shoutmon in a duel. It wasn't exactly clear on why it had to be a knight persona specifically, so that part was a bit odd, but "Roland" carried on. He found that Digimental in a ruined temple out in the Flatlands, and he got chased by some kind of banshee as he was doing so. He didn't know it was corrupted or whatever, and he cried that he didn't mean to start a forest fire.
"We do not blame you for the fire," Arlo calmly said to Roland. "It was all that Sealsdramon's doing. Aside from that, we managed to put out the flames before any real harm was done to the forest or the city."
"So you found that Digimental in a tower, you said?" OmniShoutmon asked, crossing his arms and rubbing his chin. "It's possible that Abaddon may have gotten to it before you did, and put some kind of possession curse on it. Waited for some other Digimon to come and claim it, like a body snatcher kind of deal."
"He was in a weak state the last time we saw him," Adrian said, recalling their last fight with Abaddon. "But that thing... that was more like a rampaging monster than the Abaddon we knew."
"It probably wasn't a perfect corruption, then." He looked back at "Roland," squinting his eyes a bit. "A Soundbirdmon has the same coloring as an Eyesmon. I don't know if I believe you quite yet."
"Well what if you're wrong, and he actually is just an innocent bystander caught up in this mess?"
"Adrian, up until five minutes ago I thought Abaddon was dead for good."
"And we'll deal with him when we have all the facts, when we're good and ready. If we rush into this, we're going to die. You know what he can do to people and Digimon who aren't prepared." Adrian looked back down at the Soundbirdmon he was holding. "My partner's girlfriend and son are healers. Once they're done treating Luneth, they can heal you, if that's what you want."
"Or we could bring him to the Rosewood hospital directly," Arlo suggested, "along with this Agumon here."

"Well, I'm certainly not gonna be touching any more digimentals anytime soon, that's for sure! Not without having a Holy Digimon or three examine the heck out of it first, at least." "Roland" exclaimed, flapping his wings helplessly in Adrian's grip. "Also, really? Comparing me to an Eyesmon because we share a color color scheme is a pretty flimsy piece of evidence. Most Soundbirdmon are red and black anyways, so your point makes no sense. It's like saying an OmniShoutmon is related to a Magnamon or a Grademon just because you have gold armor!"
The Soundbirdmon realized how worked up he was getting, and let out deep sigh as he forced himself to calm down. "Look, I think we can all agree that this whole day's just been a great, big mess. At this point, I just want to go home and get out of you- wait, what was that you said about a Sealsdramon causing the fire?" Meanwhile, the remaining Jackals had regrouped at a point far away from Adrian and Shoutmon's house. the Spy, Heavy, and Medic were all visibly out of breath from all the running they did.
"Well, that was a disaster." Spy said as he took out a fresh cigar. He reached for his lighter to try and light it, only to realize he left it behind. "Great. Just great. First we lose Pyro, then our reputation's likely going to go down the toilet from this f@@@-up, and now I can't even light a cigar. Can this day get any worse?!"
As if responding to the spy's temptation of Murphy's Law, that was the moment that the team's sniper met back up with the group. However, the the gunman had clearly had his own fight off-screen, as the Sealsdramon was covered in multiple lacerations, and his rifle looked to have been sawed in half. Oh, and he was missing an arm, too.
"Mein God, man! Vhat happened to you?!" Medic exclaimed as he immediately got to work bandaging the Sniper's injuries.
"I got attacked by a bloody nun with a chainsaw, mate! Cut right through my gun like it was butter before she literally bit my arm off! Ow!" Sniper replied, jerking as the Medic started working on his stump. "Bloody hell!"
"Well, the Pyro's dead. Now let's get out of here before we join him!" The Spy commanded, something the other Jackals were more than eager to comply with.
