There isn't a day that goes by where Adrian and Shoutmon don't think back to their encounter with that Shademon. They and a few others had been lead to a remote cabin in the woods, on the premise of searching for a Digimon's missing brother. When they arrived, they were sent into their own worst nightmares for the Shademon to feed off of. And Shoutmon's worst fear was the thought that his past self, Omni, could return and destroy all that he cared about.
Thankfully, with time and help from friends and family, those fears had long since vanquished. The Shoutmon was confident in who he was, who he was determined to never become again. Still, though... the Shademon did end up escaping their clutches, and it was likely that he would show up again at some point. But considering it's been many months since that incident, Adrian and Shoutmon just assumed that they'd never cross paths with that Shademon ever again.
And that carried on even to today. Adrian and Shoutmon were in their front yard, hanging out with their extended family: Shoutmon's oldest son Luneth the Hackmon and his partner-in-baking-crime Arlo the Angoramon, and Shoutmon's youngest son Gem the Gammamon and his human partner Serena Isono. The six of them were merely catching up on certain things, like their adventures or just moments in their day-to-day lives that they wanted to share.
"And this new team is called the Scions, huh?" Adrian said to Serena, as that seemed to be the current topic of discussion.
"Uh-huh! Lu- I mean, Hikaru helped to fund the team, and to get us a base and everything. We basically do jobs for Digimon around Shibuya, plus some stuff involving this new group, the Oracions. You should come and check out the base sometime!"
"Yeah!" Gem piped up, raising his arms in excitement. "They have everything there, like TV's to watch cartoons on, and vending machines that give out all different kinds of food!"
"Food aside, I really do wanna see this base you guys have set up," Shoutmon said as he rubbed his chin. "The Scions sound like they have a pretty sweet setup already."
"Perhaps Arlo and I can visit sometime as well," Luneth said.
"Not for a while, however. Last time we went to the human world was a tad bit too chaotic for my liking."
"What, did you accidentally shoplift at a store or something?" Adrian jokingly asked the huge bunny Digimon.
"Not accidentally, no."
"Wait, what?"
"It is a long story..."

After weeks of hiding and biding his time while he regained his strength, Abaddon had finally built himself back up to the level of power he had before getting beaten up by the group he had tried to ensnare within his nightmare world. He was better than he was before, in fact, now that he had his new NeoDevimon and SkullKnightmon forms. They may only be Champion-level forms, with one only being an Armor form at that, but they gave him some extra versatility in a fight.
The Shademon wasn't simply sitting idly while he recovered, though. As he regained his strength, he spent most of his time scouring the Digital World in order to track down his primary target: that accursed Shoutmon and his human partner. It was a long and tedious search, but he finally managed to track his foe to Rosewood. After locating his nemesis, it was a simple matter to spy on Shoutmon as he went about his life, using a combination of Eyesmon Scatter Modes and his personal mercenary squad to keep tabs on Shoutmon whenever he stepped out of his house.
It seemed that the red dragon had settled down and raised a family at some point, as he had seen Luneth and Gem spending time with their father as he spied on the family. An interesting discovery, but one that wasn't important to Abaddon in the long run. His vendetta was with Shoutmon and Shoutmon alone, after all.
But the biggest surprise was learning that Shoutmon was actually a complete and utter goofball in his downtime, a fact that utterly INFURIATED Abaddon! The fact that he, the Devourer of Shadows and Lord of Nightmares, was defeated by someone so idiotic was utterly humiliating to Abaddon, and it took all of his willpower to not take his fury out on his men (not after he paid so much money to hire them in the first place).
But today, Abaddon managed to quench his fury as he prepared to initiate Phase 1 of his revenge. Knowledge of your enemy was a valuable tool, so Abaddon was going to disguise himself and challenge Shoutmon to a (non-lethal, THIS time) duel in order to learn as much about his opponent as he could.
That was why Abaddon was currently marching towards Shoutmon's home in his SkullKnightmon guise so that he wouldn't tip Shoutmon off regarding his true identity. The Jackal Unit, meanwhile, was ordered to remain on standby while staying out of sight. They would intervene if Abaddon's cover was blown and he needed a quick getaway, but were to stay out of the way otherwise.
Luckily for Abaddon, Shoutmon was indeed home as he was having a get-together on his front lawn with his family and friends. Abaddon wanted to get Shoutmon's attention, so he combined his two lances end-to-end and threw the combined javelin into Shoutmon's yard. The weapon landed cleanly in the dirt, close enough that Shoutmon couldn't miss it, yet also accurate enough that nobody was at risk of getting impaled. "SHOUTMON! I HAVE COME TO CHALLENGE THEE TO HONOURABLE COMBAT!"

"So, Boriker-sama, Matsui-senpai told me that you two have some history together," Serena said to Adrian. "What's the story behind that? No offense, but it's a little bit hard to see how someone in their twenties is such good friends with someone in middle school."
Adrian couldn't help but sweatdropped at Serena's extra comment, finding it a bit too direct for comfort. Shrugging it aside, he didn't see any harm in answering Serena's question. "Er, our parents are actually family friends. Kaya was born when I was seven years old, and ever since then I've seen her at least twice a month to watch over her while our parents talked. See, look..."
Adrian then reached into his bag and pulled out an old photo, showing it to Serena and the others. The photo itself was of a seven-year-old Adrian sitting in a living chair with a little baby Kaya in his arms. "This was taken when Kaya was only about a month old. Didn't we just look adorable?"
"OH MY GOSH, CHIBI MATSUIIII!" Serena yelled, stars practically forming in her eyes as she took the photo and inspected it closer. "Matsui-senpai was always cute, but she's even more adorable than ever here!"
"I'm cute, too..." Gem said with a little pout.
"No way, that can't be Adrian. He's too little in that picture," Shoutmon said. It was clear that he hadn't seen a picture of Adrian that young before, so it made sense that he wouldn't believe that the little kid in the picture was in fact Adrian from fifteen years prior.
"And clearly, that is not Kaya in that image," Luneth added on. "She is far too tall for any human to carry in their arms like that."
These responses alone caused Adrian and Serena to glance at each other before they both began laughing hysterically, leaving both Shoutmon and Luneth tilting their heads in confusion. Arlo then sighed and said, "I think it is safe to assume that neither of them have seen babies before."
"Like father, like son, alright!"
Just then, Arlo's ears twitched. He could hear something approaching them... something like... a javelin?! "Everybody, stand back, now!" Arlo warned the group, who all did exactly as he told them to do and got back. The javelin landed right in the front yard of the house, thankfully not coming close to hitting anybody. Before any of them could ask what happened, another figure appeared: a SkullKnightmon, wanting to challenge Shoutmon to "honorable combat."
The Digimon itself looked slightly ominous. It was a black knight Digimon with glowing yellow eyes, a black flowing cape, and a chest that appeared to be in the shape of a skull. Still, it seemed that all he wanted to do was challenge Shoutmon to a duel. "Uh, you could've done that before throwing a javelin at us!" Serena had yelled at the knight.
"Yeah, that was kind of uncool, man," Shoutmon said, who also sounded unbelievably annoyed. That annoyance washed away when he addressed why the SkullKnightmon was here. "A duel, huh? I don't see the harm in that. On one condition: we keep it in between us, and we keep the collateral damage low. I don't really feel like being blamed for destroying the city." The red dragon hopped up onto his feet and looked towards his partner, who was also getting up. "Let's do this, Adri."
"You got it," Adrian said as he activated the Digivice on his wrist.
"Shoutmon Evolution! SuperShoutmon!"
Shoutmon's body glowed and morphed into a slightly modified version of Shoutmon: he was significantly taller than the average Shoutmon, but no taller than a human. His red was more washed out, he gained battle paint and scars, the whites of his body were totally different, and he was rocking a long flowing golden scarf.
"Go, Dad, go! Kick that knight guy's butt!" Gem cheered as he and the others watched.
"Just make sure you know that while this is just a duel, we won't be holding back at all, so watch yourself!" Adrian had announced to the SkullKnightmon.
SuperShoutmon smirked. "Make the first move, why don'tcha, Skully?"
Unbeknownst to anyone, another reptilian Digimon was watching this duel from the shadows. Unlike the others, he was incredibly suspicious of this knight Digimon that dared to challenge the great Shoutmon to a duel. His glare intensified as he watched...
"Be careful, Shoutmon."

Well, Abaddon was surprised that Shoutmon actually agreed to his duel so quickly. He honestly thought he'd have to find some way to convince or coerce him into accepting the challenge. Eh, whatever. He got what he wanted anyway. Wanting to maintain his cover, the SkullKnightmon gave his opponent an apologetic bow. "My apologies, I was simply trying to get your attention so you would consider my challenge. I have heard stories of your accomplishments, and seek to test my strength against you in order to grow my own skills. Your conditions are quite acceptable, though. I was hoping to challenge you to a one-on-one duel anyways, and thus had no intentions of involving anyone else."
Shoutmon's digivolution into SuperShoutmon thrilled Abaddon, deep beneath his armored exterior. This may not be the strongest form his nemesis has shown him, but any insight into his foe's fighting skills was a valuable treasure for future battles.
After Abaddon retrieved his weapon and separated it back into its constituent lances, the SkullKnightmon would follow SuperShoutmon to a nearby clearing where they could have their battle. When Adrian and SuperShoutmon voiced their intent to give their all during the match, SkullKnightmon let out a hearty chuckle. "Good, good! I would expect no less from you! The only rules for this duel are as follows: we limit ourselves to Champion-level forms only, and we don't aim for lethal blows. Anything else is fair game."
SuperShoutmon then chose to let SkullKnightmon make the first move, and the dark knight intended to capitalize on it. He replaced his lances with a bow, and unleashed a trio of arrows formed from dark energy at his opponent. "Vector Arrows!"
And thus, the duel had begun. SkullKnightmon: -Vector Arrows: SkullKnightmon switches weapons to his bow, creating a pitch-black bowstring and arrow out of pure dark energy. Shoutmon couldn't help but laugh a bit when the SkullKnightmon explained why he threw the javelin to begin with. It turned out that he just wanted to get Shoutmon's attention, pure and simple. "It's alright, but there are better ways to get my attention than throwing things at me or my house, you know. For a second there, I thought you actually wanted to kill me."
Then after Shoutmon had evolved to SuperShoutmon, the group made its way to the nearby clearing where Shoutmon and Skye do their own training. And unbeknownst to the group, the mystery reptile Digimon was also following in secret. On the way, they would reconfirm the rules of this duel with each other: one-on-one, limited to Champion forms, and no fatal blows. "I have to admit, the suddenness of this duel is quite unprecedented," Arlo said out loud as they headed to the clearing. "What's far more surprising is the fact that Father and Adrian accepted the duel so quickly," Luneth added, as he too was a tad bit suspicious of the SkullKnightmon. "I've been itching for a good, clean fight for a while. It's usually been all doom-and-gloom for Adri and I lately, so this would be a nice change of pace."
"I certainly cannot argue with that. Didn't you get turned into a zombie a couple of months ago?"
"Please don't bring that up," SuperShoutmon immediately said, his face darkening a bit. It was clear that he did not enjoy reminiscing about that horrible moment. Once they made it to the clearing, Luneth, Arlo, Serena, and Gem would all be sure to stand aside so that none of them got caught in the cross-hair as they observed the duel, while Adrian, SuperShoutmon, and SkullKnightmon stood on opposite sides of the clearing. SkullKnightmon wasted no time replacing his lances with a bow, firing an attack right at SuperShoutmon in the form of a trio of dark arrows. Naturally, SuperShoutmon hopped to the side to dodge them, but then he looked and saw that they had actually curved as if they were tracking him! Oh, shit!
Thinking quickly, SuperShoutmon summoned his microphone staff in order to swat the arrows away, but he was only half lucky. He hit one of them away, but the second partially hit him, and the third one was true to its target. It was enough to send SuperShoutmon flying back, but he thankfully managed to land on his feet, sliding to a stop. His own eyes now locked onto his target, SuperShoutmon dashed forward with the microphone staff still in his grip. The mic staff itself begins to glow as he runs.
[Beat Baton]
"Beat Baton!"
And just like that, SuperShoutmon leapt up into the air and came down fast, the now glowing blunt end of his microphone on a direct course right towards SkullKnightmon himself.
SuperShoutmon is hit by two of the three "Vector Arrows," before he follows it up with a "Beat Baton" right towards SkullKnightmon.

Abaddon had to admit that even though the duel had only just begun, it was still managing to get him all fired up as he watched SuperShoutmon try to avoid his Vector Arrows. The red dragon managed to deflect one arrow, but the other two managed to hit home, causing Abaddon to smirk internally. He may be holding himself back from trying to kill Shoutmon right now, but he could still enjoy the pain he gave to his draconic foe.
However, he was so caught up in relishing SuperShoutmon's pain that he ended up being blindsided by SuperShoutmon's attack that the dragon's mic staff ended up hitting him squarely in the head and knocked Abaddon's helmet clear off, revealing that the SkullKnightmon's armor was completely hollow, with nothing but a writhing cloud of darkness controlling it from within.
Storing his bow on his back, Abaddon held up a single finger, silently requesting SuperShoutmon to give him a minute as he went to grab his head and reattach it. Once it was firmly affixed back in place, he pulled his weapon back out and gave SuperShoutmon a hard stare. "That was uncalled for. I thought we agreed upon no lethal blows?"
The serious only lasted a moment before SkullKnightmon chuckled. "I'm joking. That actually happens to me all the time. But I suppose we should get back to business."
With that, the skull on SkullKnightmon's chestplate opened its jaw an fired a beam of dark energy at SuperShoutmon. "Dead End Shooter!" The good news? SuperShoutmon's attack had struck true, his glowing microphone staff successfully able to come into contact with SkullKnightmon's head and deal a good amount of damage in the process. The bad news? The attack caused SkullKnightmon's helmet to fall off... and there was no head underneath, nothing but some form of black mist within the armor itself.
Needless to say, everyone present at the moment was shocked as to what had happened. Adrian's eyes widened, Serena and Gem were both resisting the urge to scream, and the look in SuperShoutmon's eyes was clear as day: he was convinced that he had actually killed SkullKnightmon by accident.
All didn't seem to be as lost as they thought, however. It seemed that SkullKnightmon was still able to move around despite not having a head, and he politely requested for SuperShoutmon to give him a moment while he went to reattach his head. Oh, thank goodness, I didn't kill him... SuperShoutmon thought, his tense mood fleeting away. It came back the moment SkullKnightmon called SuperShoutmon out on his lethal blow. The red dragon gulped. Crap...
The serious moment lasted only a bit before SkullKnightmon admitted he was joking, saying that that occurrence was normal for him. Both Adrian and Shoutmon let out sighs of relief. "You gotta warn me about that kinda thing, dude. I thought I killed you for real for a sec there."
The unknown hiding reptile Digimon smirked. That's Shoutmon for you... strong, yet caring.
And with that, the duel continued. The jaw on SkullKnightmon's chest plate opened, firing a powerful beam of dark energy right at SuperShoutmon. The draconian Digimon smirked as he rolled out of the way of the attack, with it passing by a hair away from his golden scarf. He decided to counter that with a powerful attack of his own. His entire body quickly charged up with flames before he bolted right towards SkullKnightmon.

"I am sorry for scaring you like that. I suppose I have a bit of a dark sense of humor." Abaddon apologized, even if he wasn't actually sorry at all. He still had to keep up the act, though, lest SuperShoutmon start to catch on to the fact that the SkullKnightmon wasn't quite what he appeared to be.
As Shoutmon charged at Abaddon, somehow setting himself on fire without being burned by his own flames, the SkullKnightmon quickly rolled off to the side in order to get out of his opponent's path, before twirling around to try and strike at SuperShoutmonfrom behind, his bow transforming back into his twin lances as he thrust them both into his opponent's back.
Meanwhile, the unknown Agumon watching the fight wasn't the only secret observer, as a Sealsdramon silently emerged from the shadows and firmly clamped the Agumon's mouth shut with one hand while the other pressed a chloroformed rag over his nose in order to try and knock him out quietly as the assassin whispered in the Agumon's ear. "My apologies, my young friend, but I can't let you interfere with our business here. Just take a little nap for now, and you'll wake up perfectly fine in a few hours." "Don't worry about it, man," SuperShoutmon said with a smile as he waved his hand. "This kinda thing will just happen, I guess. Now come on, let's get back to the fight!" Abaddon would likely have no doubts that he had fully fooled SuperShoutmon with his SkullKnightmon disguise by this point.
Both Adrian and SuperShoutmon would be surprised when SkullKnightmon had actually managed to dodge the draconian Digimon's full-powered charge attack. Thankfully, SuperShoutmon was quick enough to turn around after the fact, and he was able to see that SkullKnightmon was actually pulling out his twin lances, seemingly to attack SuperShoutmon right then and there. It was by a hair, but SuperShoutmon was able to swing his mic staff in the way to counter the attack, although he was sent back a bit by the impact.
This guy really does know all of SuperShoutmon's moves... Adrian thought to himself as he processed the situation. Maybe I can give him something he won't be expecting! He then pulled a card out of his card holder and slashed it with his D-Arc Digivice.
"Digi-Modify! Electro Shocker Activate!"
SuperShoutmon's eyes began to cackle with blue electricity as he quickly conjured up an electric ball in the palm of his hands, before just as quickly launching it right at his armor-clad foe.
Meanwhile, the Agumon in hiding was suddenly apprehended by an unknown Digimon, who quickly placed a chloroform-ridden rag in front of his mouth. At first the Agumon used all of his strength to fight back, but the chloroform quickly took effect, and he was successfully taken out. The struggle didn't go quite unnoticed, however, as Arlo's ears began to twitch as he heard the sounds of what sounded like movement coming from some bushes not too far away.
"Arlo? What's wrong?" Luneth asked his friend.
"I am unsure... stay here, I'll be right back," the Angoramon said. He got up from his sitting position and slowly headed over to the bushes where the Agumon and a Sealsdramon were, unsure as to what he'd find as he approached. He simply wanted to make sure it was nothing to worry about, since his advanced hearing does have a tendency to make him perceive innocent sounds as potential threats from time to time.

Abaddon was impressed that SuperShoutmon was quick enough to spin around and parry his lances (despite still being knocked away), but he expected no less from his arch-enemy. As his opponent went flying, the SkullKnightmon prepared to take advantage of the opening to counterattack when he heard Adrian call out the Electro Shocker card he was activating. "Electro what now-aaaGGHHHHH!"
As it turns out, a being composed of living metal armor was highly conductive, Abaddon's body spasming wildly as the electrical blast coursed through him. Once the attack was concluded, Abaddon was leaning on his lances as he shakily tried to stay on his feet. The Electro Shocker wasn't a particularly powerful attack by any means, but it did still hurt. It seems that Abaddon would just have to raise the stakes
"I'm tempted to call such a move cheating, but I suppose that I did say that the only rules were no digivolving or using lethal blows. But if you wish to play dirty, then so can I!" As he spoke, Abaddon opened up the skull on his chest to reveal a black digimental stored inside. "The Champion-only rule doesn't exclude the use of armor forms, after all. Digi-Armor... Energize! Soldier of Darkness, NeoDevimon!"
The digimental enshrouded Abaddon in a dark miasma which quickly condensed together into the form of a NeoDevimon, staring at SuperShoutmon with all of its eyes. "Now, shall we continue?"
NeoDevimon wouldn't give Shoutmon much of a chance to answer, though, as the lanky demon rushed forward to try and grab SuperShoutmon by the throat and slam him into the ground repeatedly. Meanwhile, as Arlo approached the bush where the unconscious Sol and the Sealsdramon were hidden, the Sealsdramon would emerge from the bush to quickly try and grab Arlo in a chokehold with one arm while the other attempted to stab the Angoramon with a combat knife Stealth was likely out the window at this point due to the Angoramon's fluffy bulk, but the assassin wasn't gonna let Arlo het away. It seemed that Adrian's hunch was right. SkullKnightmon seemed confused when SuperShoutmon had suddenly shot a ball of electricity at him, and the electricity struck true. What Adrian should have also realized, however, was that SkullKnightmon was mostly metal, a metal that was highly conductive. Serena, Gem, and Luneth may have been cheering after that attack, but Adrian was just scared that he went a bit too far with that card use.
Thankfully SkullKnightmon quickly bounced back, saying that he was tempted to call using cards cheating if he hadn't already stated the two terms of the duel, those being no digivolving and no fatal blows. "I warned you that we weren't going to hold back at all," Adrian explained with a grin, "and that includes using the cards. Call it cheating all you want, but I think it's fair game."
"I agree with my partner here," SuperShoutmon added, holding his mic staff over his shoulders. "Of course, you can always just call uncle whenever you feel like it."
SkullKnightmon then revealed that he had a trick of his own. His chest skull opened up and revealed that he had a black Digimental stored inside, which he then used to armor evolve to NeoDevimon. Everyone present looked up at this honestly pretty freaky form with wide eyes.
"Glad we're not the one's fighting him," Serena said to herself as she hugged Gem closer to her, while Gem just seemed to be enamored by seeing a Digimon he hadn't yet seen before.
"Not all dark Digimon are necessarily evil," Luneth said to Serena, "but I cannot deny that this particular one makes me feel uneasy."
NeoDevimon wasted no time getting back into the fight after evolving. He was successfully able to quickly dash up to SuperShoutmon and grab him by the throat, before repeatedly slamming him into the ground over and over.
"OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW!"
Of course, he had also dropped his mic staff during this, and it laid there as the red dragon got pummeled. If SuperShoutmon didn't know any better, he'd think that NeoDevimon actually wanted to kill him. Adrian thought that NeoDevimon's method was far too gruesome as well, but at the moment he was just trying to think about how he can help get his partner out of that situation. As much as he tried, none of the cards he had would've worked in that situation, so all he could really do was wait for NeoDevimon to be done hitting SuperShoutmon the way he was doing.
"Ow..." SuperShoutmon groaned as his eyes spun. Shaking his head, he picked himself back up and grabbed his mic staff, staring at NeoDevimon right in his eyes. "Okay, just by looking at you, I can tell you'll be trouble. This'll be fun."
"Molten Armor!"
Almost instantaneously, SuperShoutmon's arms, legs, chest, and V-shaped horns became coated in a molten lava rock-like material. One could get the sense that he had been powered up somehow because of it. SuperShoutmon spun his mic staff around and pointed it at NeoDevimon. "Let's see for ourselves if that armor form is all bark and no bite!" Meanwhile, Arlo got closer and closer to the bush where he swore he heard a noise from. He kept his guard up as he got closer, as he expected anything to jump out at him from it at this point. Sure enough, his hunch was correct, as a Sealsdramon had suddenly leapt out of the bush and attempted to hold the Angoramon in a choke hold, while also stabbing him with a combat knife at the same time. The only problem was that with Angoramons, their fur is extremely thick. So while the knife did stab into Arlo's massive amounts of fur, it just simply wasn't going to reach his actual body. You'd need a sword to be able to do that.
This Sealsdramon would soon learn that it had made a big mistake. Arlo let his natural fighting instincts take over, and he was able to push the Sealsdramon out of his choke hold position. But the Angoramon didn't stop there. He quickly delivered a counter-punch to this Digimon square in the gut, the sheer strength of which being enough to topple someone over. Once the Sealsdramon was on the ground, Arlo pinned him down with his foot while also grabbing both of the assassin's arms and holding them behind his back.
"I will only ask you this once: what are you doing here, and are you alone? I wouldn't recommend lying."
The Angoramon would likely hear the footsteps of any incoming Jackal Unit members who may or may not be coming in to rescue their comrade, so he would also be keeping an eye out for any potential ambushes as well.

As fun/cathartic as slamming SuperShoutmon into the ground repeatedly was, NeoDevimon was quick to relinquish his grip the moment his foe had encased his body in a suit of molten rock armor. Despite his first attack being successful, it would be quite obvious to any observer that this was not a form that Abaddon had full control over quite yet, visible from the way that the NeoDevimon was twitching sporadically. This form was so destructive that even Abaddon struggled to keep the form's natural destructive impulses in check so as to not ruin things.
Case in point, the sight of SuperShoutmon's new armor made NeoDevimon reflexively spread his claws on his right arm, as if intending to try and stab SuperShoutmon with them, only for NeoDeivmon to use his left arm to grab the wrist and keep it from trying to rip SuperShoutmon's core right out of his chest.
Not long after that, Abaddon backed out of arm's reach of his opponent, allowing his hand to relax back into its normal position. That show of restraint wouldn't last long, though, as NeoDevimon quickly grabbed his head in pain and screamed as he completely lost control, unleashing a Dark Abyss attack.
SuperShoutmon would quickly find several shadowy arms reaching out of his own shadow in order to grab him and pull him into his own shadow. If drawn in, all he would experience was an endless abyss of staring eyes and crushing teeth before being spat back out. Not an experience for the faint of heart.
Meanwhile, the Spy had underestimated just how thick Arlo’s fur was, having only succeeded in tangling his favorite knife in the Angoramon’s chest fur before being quickly gut-punched and restrained. Despite this, the Spy remained perfectly calm despite his capture, merely turning his head to try and look Arlo in the eye and speaking in a calm tone. “If you think your amateurish interrogation will break me, you’ll find it to be a bit of a long shot.”
That last phrase was a codeword for the assassin’s comrades, prompting a hidden Sniper (positioned in a nearby tree) to ready his sniper rifle and aim it right at Arlo’s center of mass. Thick fur or not, it wouldn’t be enough to stop an armor-piercing sniper round from tearing right through the Angoramon if it hit.

Wait, something's not right... Adrian thought as he kept his eyes on their opponent. The NeoDevimon was twitching and spasm-ing out of control. Even the duel's observers could realize that SkullKnightmon simply didn't have as much control over this form as he should. SuperShoutmon in particular looked very concerned for the NeoDevimon as he was holding his right arm back with his left hand, as if he were trying to stop himself from attacking SuperShoutmon.
"Uh, are you okay there, guy?" SuperShoutmon asked out of genuine concern for his sparring opponent. "Do you need to take a break?"
NeoDevimon backed up a bit, as if he was trying to calm his own hand down while staying out of reach of SuperShoutmon. This didn't last long until NeoDevimon suddenly fired an attack right at the red dragon, which caused several dark arms to come out of SuperShoutmon's shadow and grab onto him in an attempt to drag him in. "W-Wait, what the hell-?!" SuperShoutmon cried out.
"Shoutmon!"
"Adrian!"
The two tried reaching out for each other, but by then it was too late. SuperShoutmon had been dragged into his own shadow and disappeared, leaving everyone who witnessed this event speechless.
"D-Dad...?" Gem said, his voice quivering with worry.
"What just happened to him?" Serena asked.
"What kind of awful attack was that...?" Luneth pondered out loud.
Thankfully, it wasn't long until SuperShoutmon had spat back out by the shadow. He landed on the ground just a few inches above, so he wasn't hurt too bad from that. What he was hurt from was all the staring eyes and crushing teeth... the injuries left their marks on SuperShoutmon big-time, and his face made it seem like he had just gone through hell.
"Shoutmon, are you okay?" Adrian asked, getting onto one knee and kneeling by SuperShoutmon's side.
"I...I'm fine, yeah..." SuperShoutmon said, wanting to downplay the horrors he had just gone through. Nonetheless, he still picked himself back up, and he glared right NeoDevimon. "You... you're not normal... just what are you?" SuperShoutmon asked. He was certainly not really feeling up to fighting anymore, and any chance of this remaining as a friendly spar had gone right out the window.
Back with Arlo, he had successfully managed to restrain the Sealsdramon that had tried to stab him earlier. The knife remained stuck in Arlo's chest fur as the bunny kept his foot on the Sealsdramon's back, all while he held his arms behind his back as well. Though this Digimon still seemed to be rather calm, considering that a Digimon much larger than him was asking for answers.
"Long shot..." That had to be some kind of code word, just by the way that Sealsdramon had emphasized it. Arlo wasn't going to take any chances; he let go of the Sealsdramon and leapt up into the air, just right when the trigger was going to be pulled. Arlo could hear the bullet flying by; he didn't even want to imagine what could've happened if it hit.
No time to play around; it was evolution time.
"Angoramon... Evolution!" The large bunny began to glow and change shape before touching the ground, becoming a much slimmer-looking bunny man with orange arms and black pants, looking almost like a monk. "SymbareAngoramon."
Arlo would be on his guard now, not only watching the first Sealsdramon, but also any other bullets that would come flying his way, and just whatever else these guys wanted to throw at him by this point.

Post by Abaddon, Devourer of Shadows on Feb 5, 2023 15:53:55 GMT
Inside NeoDevimon's head, Abaddon realized that he'd gotten himself in waaay over his head this time. It seems that he'd gone too far when corrupting his current digimental into becoming compatible with him, and now the digimental was so corrupt that he couldn’t even control his NeoDevimon form. As of this moment, the berserk devil was fighting on pure, malevolent instinct while Abaddon was mostly stuck in the metaphorical backseat. Despite this, Abaddon used what little control he had to give SuperShoutmon a warning. “I-I can’t… stop… it. Do… what you must!”
NeoDevimon then let out an agonized roar as the corrupted digimental took full control and charged at the battered SuperShoutmon, claws splayed to impale its prey with a Guilty Claw.
Meanwhile, the instant Arlo leaped out of the way of the Sniper’s Snipe Shot, the Spy rolled out of the SymbareAngoramon’s reach while pulling out his spare combat knife. With the stealth option out of the window, the Sealsdramon let out a whistle to summon the rest of his squad. While the Sniper stayed in his sniping position, the Heavy, Pyro and Medic emerged to help surround the SymbareAngoramon from all four sides.
“As you can see, a professional mercenary always comes with backup.” The Spy calmly told Arlo. Despite the initial scuffle between the two, the knife-wielding assassin maintained a polite and gentlemanly tone. “You are not our target, so we’ll give you a chance to walk away. We usually try to avoid unnecessary killing when we’re on the job, after all. Despite that sucker punch you gave me, rest assured that I don’t hold it against you for defending yourself. My attempt to stab you was… highly unprofessional, and I apologize for that.“

"Crap... Serena, Gem, Luneth, get out of here!" Adrian yelled over to the peanut gallery after NeoDevimon's warning was heard. "We'll try to keep the fighting contained to the clearing!"
"No, we're going to fight alongside you!" Luneth called back, preparing to Digivolve at a moment's notice. Serena and Gem seemed to share that sentiment, as Serena was preparing to activate her Digivice while Gem's eyes began to resemble his mother's battle glare more and more. But then that's when NeoDevimon dashed towards SuperShoutmon to try and impale him. After the damage he just took, a direct attack like that would be devastating.
"FATHER!" Luneth cried. The Hackmon moved his feet as fast as he could to reach his father before NeoDevimon did. In the end, Luneth did manage to push SuperShoutmon out of the way in time. The bad news, however, was that it was himself that was now NeoDevimon's victim. His eyes widened as he could feel the dark Digimon's claws piercing right through his body. Adrian, Serena, and Gem all watched with true fear present in their eyes.
"LUNETH!" all three of them cried out in unison. Once SuperShoutmon had picked himself back up, he would end up being the last one to turn around and see what exactly had happened to his son.
No... no... NO!
"Adrian, digivolve me NOW!" SuperShoutmon demanded of his partner, in a tone fitting that of an angry father. Adrian nodded and activated his Digivice once again. "SuperShoutmon... Super Evolution! OmniShoutmon!"
That happy-go-lucky scarfed red dragon was now replaced by a significantly taller, golden-clad, and very pissed off dragon-man Digimon that was now glaring right at NeoDevimon. After Luneth had fallen to the ground, Serena and Gem both knew that they had to help, as well. And as such, the vital sign on Serena's own Digivice began to spike.
"Gammamon Evolution! BetelGammamon!"
Once he had evolved, the red dragon-man Digimon leapt to the battlefield and gently picked his injured older brother up. He looked at Adrian with a seriousness in his eyes that Adrian was not used to seeing from Gem. "Serena and I will bring Luneth over to Mom. An injury like this shouldn't be hard for her to heal up."
Adrian smiled. "Thank you, Gem."
Once Serena, Gem, and Luneth had left the area, OmniShoutmon glared daggers at NeoDevimon. "I know you're not yourself right now, but that's not gonna stop me from punishing you for hurting my son!" OmniShoutmon's right hand suddenly took the shape of a glowing golden blade before he dashed at NeoDevimon, ready to slash at him with all his might.
"Omni Blade!"
As expected, the Sealsdramon was freed from Arlo's grasp when the Angoramon leapt up to dodge that sniper rifle strike. The SymbareAngoramon would also now find himself surrounded by four other Sealsdramons, each holding a different type of weapon. None of which were a sniper rifle; Arlo had to assume that there was a fifth one that was still hiding somewhere nearby.
Then, the roar was heard. Arlo's eyes widened, he turned his head to look over at the clearing where the duel was happening. He couldn't see what was going on, but with a ferocious roar like that, it couldn't have been good. He had to see what was going on. But he could still feel the six Digimon presences surrounding him, he couldn't make a move without starting a fight.
Wait, six?
The Sealsdramon with the knife claimed that Arlo wasn't the target, that he could still walk away right now. Was the real target... in the bush? Slowly, the SymbareAngoramon approached the bush and pushed away its leaves. There, he found an Agumon with a red wristband on his left wrist, unconscious. He picked the orange dinosaur up, and seeing his unconscious state filled him with anger.
"Don't... don't tell me that this was your target..." Arlo said with a noticeable amount of anger in his voice, which was unusual for him. "And if this one isn't, you better pray to Yggdrasil that your 'target' isn't in that clearing where my fa- my friends are."
He couldn't stay long here; with a roar like that, Arlo knew he'd have to get back to the clearing eventually.
SuperShoutmon evolved to OmniShoutmon and delivered an "Omni Blade" attack to NeoDevimon.
