A Salaryman in the Digital World [Open]

"In your case, since you seem to be the tamer of a set of twins, you would need two holosuits if they both want one." Stacy said looking at Ken before Taiyo's growling gut caused her focus to snap back to the hungry Agumon. "Hey, Ken. Aren't you hungry as well? I know not every digimon is a bottomless pit but growling bellies tend to make others growl as well. It seems stomach growls can be almost contagious as yawning sometimes."
Then when Ryosuke described the car he wanted, Stacy said "Sounds like a vehicle that can carry four people should do the trick and, if you need more room for passengers, there is an upgrade for digivices that allow digimon to go into a digivice." Yes it was concerning if Ryosuke's son got into the Digital World by following his father but that made Stacy wonder if Ryu was a tamer, spirit wielder, or xros general. If so the kid had better odds of survival.
"Nothing wrong with liking enjoying food like ramen. I see that as a shared interest that is healthier than some food options. At least ramen tends to be low fat as well as delicious." Stacy said chuckling along with Ryosuke.
Stacy grinned before she exclaimed "Alrighty then. Let's go and get something to eat!" Then Stacy, though an awkward klutz, managed to turn on her heel without falling on her face leading the group to the restaurant she mentioned. Sure it was humble and small looking but chances were decent that there was at least something everyone could enjoy. As the group approached the restaurant Stacy finished her coffee and threw the now empty cup into a nearby recycling bin that was next to a trash can before she said "It's nice to see that even in the Digital World they make use of recycling. I guess that makes sense due to how some digimon are reborn after dieing if their data isn't consumed by another digimon. I suppose that can be considered a form of recycling too."

Ken didn't want to admit it out loud, but he responded Stacy's question with a nod. Like she said, he wasn't much of a big eater like his half-brother, but there were times he was excited about food, too.
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind when buying their Holosuits." When the Digivice's feature of storing his Digimon came up, Ryosuke chuckled in response. "About that, this Digivice actually had that feature the moment I had it. I accidentally discovered it when I tried to hide my Digimon from Ryu in my apartment out of panic. I guess there are some models that started with this feature, huh?"
As they arrived at the restaurant, Ryosuke was surprised at the topic changed to recycling by Stacy, something he never heard about. "Reborn? Consume? Are you saying that reincarnation exists for Digimon here as well?" He quickly stopped, realizing that he said this right in front of his partners. And just as they were about to enter the establishment. "Sorry. But it might be a bit sensitive for the young ones to hear about it."
"Why not? We're curious about it, too," Taiyo asked while tilting his head, seemingly unaware at the true nature of the topic.
"Not unless you want to be scarred for life." Ryosuke sighed and turned to Stacy. "Should we change the subject?"

"I didn't know some digivices come with that feature other than the digivices of xros generals from what I've heard. Maybe this happens with the digivices of tamers sometimes." Stacy said. After hearing that Ryosuke discovered the feature when trying to hide his partners from Ryu which caused her to chuckle. "I guess it is amazing what we discover while in a panic. Now what happened can be a funny story to possibly share with your son, Ryu."
Stacy looked at Ryosuke and Taiyo a bit confused for a moment before she said "I guess not all young digimon are taught about the subject but I can see why it could be sensitive to young digimon especially if they are the sensitive type by nature. I don't know if that is the case with Taiyo." When Taiyo mentioned being curious about digimon reincarnation Stacy said "There is nothing wrong with wanting to gain knowledge, Taiyo, but if Ryosuke is worried you may not be ready for it yet then I'm alright with changing the subject."
"Why don't we head inside the restaurant and get some food." Stacy said turning to the door leading the group inside. Soon the group was seated at a table with menus and Stacy was scanning the menu for something that she would like to eat. "So any idea what you guys would want to eat?"

Ryosuke chuckled again while his face turned red. "That might be a good story to tell someday. Since this is Ryu we're talking about, he might rolling over the floor laughing about it."
He sighed in relief that Stacy understood his intentions. He knew Taiyo and Ken were just satisfying their curiosity, but he felt that it was too early for them to know yet. "Once you two are ready, I'll tell you all about it. I promised." And he mentally promised himself not to take too long as he knew that they would face any kind of danger waiting in the Digital World very soon.
"Okay, Ryosuke! If that's what you want, we're okay with waiting!" Taiyo said happily. "Besides, I'm very hungry!"
Ken silently nodded with Taiyo's sentiments as he rubbed his belly again just as Stacy suggested they get some lunch with her.
"Good idea." Ryosuke smiled. "Let's go everyone."
As everyone went into the restaurant Stacy recommended, they took their seats as Ryosuke took the menu from a Digimon waiter. As he hummed in thought while reading the menu, Stacy asked them what they want to eat here.
"Anything!" Taiyo answered with excitement.
"...Curry like Ryosuke's," Ken quietly answered.
Ryosuke smiled after hearing their answers. "Well then, let's have a curry ramen for three of us. What about you, Stacy?"

Stacy chuckled along with Ryosuke noticing how the man's face was turning red probably from mild embarrassment. She then said "Still you think what happened with your son is awkward it was not as awkward as what happened when I digivolved for the first time. See the first time I digivolved I was possessed by the spirit I gain power from. Fortunately the spirit was a kind and benevolent being by nature so no one got hurt. Still it was a crazy way to get to know about the power one possesses isn't it?" Stacy chuckled before shaking her head. It was even crazier she remembered what had happened but she suspected the spirit had something to do with it since even before the spirit began speaking to her they had a healthy mutually beneficial relationship making her wonder if it was the same with her mother who had originally had the spirit years ago.
Like Ryosuke, Stacy was reading the menu provided by the waiter looking at the various options as her stomach rumbled noisily. Her metabolism was already fast before she became a spirit wielder and since she gained the power of digivolution her relentless appetite was now like an insatiable black hole. This was probably due to her now being a speedster by nature when a digimon. Sure she had just recently been able to match the pace of fellow AEGIS member Speed upon reaching her mega form for the first time but still her other forms could outpace Olympic runners easily even her rookie form of Hinookamimon.
"Tough question indeed. Hmm." Stacy said as she thought for a moment knowing she might catch Ryosuke's attention with her upcoming order likely shocking him cause boy could she put food away in large amounts. "I think I'll take three spicy shrimp curry ramen, a four cheese omelet, mashed potatoes with sour cream and topped with cheese, and a meat apple." She said while writing it down on a scrap of paper so she didn't forget when the waiter returned. Then she looked at Ryosuke and his partners before she said "Don't worry I'll pay for my own food. Oh and a green tea."

Ryosuke's eyes widened when he heard this. "Hang on. Are you saying the Spirits that you were assigned with can possess your body?" He exclaimed before he listened more of Stacy's story. "Thank goodness to hear that. Still, I can't imagine what happened if your Spirit is not what you described. I can't imagine if I wasn't a Tamer or got Taiyo and Ken."
Speaking of his Digimon, he noticed that both of them had their mouths watered, probably because of the curry ramen he ordered for all of them. He couldn't blame them. They hadn't tried that kind of ramen including himself before and it might be a change of pace for him after eating some classic ramen a few years from now. For now, he might as well change the subject while they waited for their orders.
"I was wondering lately. I'm aware that might be a chance Ryu might become a Tamer or a Spirit User, but are there other humans who made some encounters with Digimon? And are most of them are adults or children?"

Stacy nodded in response to Ryosuke's question as she said "Yup it seems so. I've also heard some spirits openly communicate with the humans they are bonded too. The spirit I have seems to have only recently began to openly communicate with me. Until I reached mega the spirit didn't talk to me only guiding me along with instinctive nudges. Maybe the ancient spirit wasn't complete enough to talk to me but I still don't know much about how digimon spirits work and I'm a spirit wielder." She then chuckled before she said "If anything I understand tamers more although it may seem funny on the surface."
"As for humans that have had encounters with digimon, while they be a minority of the human population there are other humans with such bonds with digimon. There are more than one type of digivice as you've seen. The digivice wielding humans with such bonds are Tamers, Spirit Wielders, and Xros Generals. While I haven't really been around Xros Generals they are a lot like tamers it seems except the number of digimon in their care. Xros Generals command an army of digimon and I've heard how digivolution works is different from Tamers and Spirit Wielders. Even though I have access to the spirit of a digimon my digivolution is much like the standard form of digivolution what with going through all the levels and all. After finding the totems for each level of course." Stacy said taking a deep breath as a waiter came around and she handed the passing digimon her list before she continued "As for most humans with such bonds being adults or children, I'm not totally sure. All I know is that they tend to average younger than us with people being between the teens to twenties age range. I suppose it makes sense as the younger people tend to have much more energy. Man even though I'm only forty one at times I feel old." Stacy began laughing after her last sentence wondering where time had gone rather fondly. It seemed like just yesterday she was a teenager herself.

"I see. I guess even Spirit Wielders have a harder time in figuring out the mysteries of Digimon and the Digital World." Ryosuke hummed as he processed the information Stacy has given to him so far. "The biggest mystery so far was how I got Taiyo and Ken in the first place. You see, I got them as slime-like babies from the egg that hatched near my computer. The same could be said with my Digivice nearby. Even before I realized it was real, it was still perplexing how it got in our world in the first place."
Speaking of Digimon, Ryosuke was surprised to hear how Spirit Wielders evolved themselves into Digimon by the totems they were supposed to find. But when he saw his Digimon was busy scarfing down their curry ramen, he decided to take a few seconds to savor the taste from his bowl before it gets cold before moving forward with the topic.
"An army of Digimon," he repeated after he swallowed a bite of the ramen noodles. "Guess they are called Xros Generals for a reason. As for totems, your Digivice didn't provide you with one when you first obtained the former, right?" Then, his answer on the human ages regarding their encounters came up and Ryosuke couldn't help but chuckle dryly at that fact. "You can say that again. I'm only 31 and I still feel old from dealing with Ryu's antics along with my Digimon."

Stacy laughed before she said "Seeing as both digimon and the Digital World can be logical one moment and how else can I say it other than bat shit insane the next. It is a miracle anyone can make sense of this world at times. What I mean by bat shit insane is there are crazy things that float through the air at times when by all logic shouldn't. It is like between anomalies, odd types of food, and things that basically ignore gravity makes me wonder how I haven't gone completely insane myself. Sometimes the Digital World seems crazier than an average anime but after a few years I have learned to just go with it and it makes things less headache inducing."
Taiyo and Ken weren't the only ones who had seemed to have gotten their food as it seemed everyone had their food in front of them. Stacy clumsily wielded her chopsticks in her left hand before eating at a more controlled pace than the Agumon and Kotemon at the table. While she ate she listened to Ryosuke and when he mentioned totems she swallowed the ramen she was chewing before she set it and the chopsticks down and said "It seemed I had the totem for my rookie form of Hinookamimon when I got my digivice but of course since I didn't know what it was at the time I just carried it in my pocket. Let's just say I became quite aware of the form after being possessed by it and digivolving. At least, despite feeling old at times, it seems gaining the ability to digivolve has given me more energy. I basically have become like the speedsters from comic books but can't match such speeds unless in my mega form. Still not slow moving by human standards even as Hinookamimon. I just don't zoom around at top speed as a rookie while moving through the streets of Shibuya. Also like those speedster, I seem to have the metabolic demands and need several times the calories I used to need which is insane cause before becoming a Spirit Wielder I already had the metabolism of a teenager even at my age."

Ryosuke dryly chuckled at her statement. "I guess the mysteries will remain mysterious. Most of them, at least. All I want for my Digital World trips is to take some extra jobs here and maybe take a vacation from work sometime. Honestly, I'm not much of a Digimon researcher. I'm just a simple salaryman trying to deal with my son's issues."
Thankfully, his metabolism was normal as he enjoyed his ramen slowly. He was still human and as much as he wanted to mimic like his Digimon, he rather be sensible and eat normally so his stomach won't get hurt from eating too fast. As he ate, he listened to Stacy's story regarding her first totem. He didn't finish his bowl just as she finished her long explanation, but it was enough so he could rest his stomach for a few seconds while sharing his thoughts on it before resuming to eat the remaining portion.
"I see. I'm guessing that as a Spirit Wielder, you must have obtained some sort of a side effect from your previous evolutions. While I can't say my theories are fool-proof since I'm a Tamer, I'm also guessing the effects are different based on wielders who owned different totems, am I right?"

"Given that both humans and digimon seem driven by curiosity I am shocked that more of this world's mysteries aren't understood. Ah well." Stacy said as she went back to eating before looking at her chopsticks before she said "I have been living in Japan and traveling to the Digital World since I came to Japan when I was thirty eight. One would think I would of mastered chopsticks by now. Maybe I am just doomed to be clumsy." Stacy said lightly chuckling at her own awkwardness before replying to Ryosuke's last sentence. "Don't worry, Ryosuke, I'm far from a Digimon researcher myself nor am I a parent. All I know from helping with various kid cousins is that the teen years can be an awkward and confusing time even for the parents dealing with them."
Stacy took another glance at Taiyo and Ken before she said "I don't know how digimon can eat like that without choking or getting stomach aches. I know I can't eat that fast."
"Yeah it seems like their have been some side effects but fortunately none of them detrimental. I don't know if this is the case with all Spirit Wielders. After all no two people are the same be they human or digimon."

Ryosuke chuckled when her brief mention of her clumsiness with chopsticks came up. "Trust me, it took me a few years to learn how to eat with chopsticks and even then, I tend to drop them by accident from time to time, so I agree that it's not easy sometimes," Ryosuke said with a smile. "And yeah, I tend to have that phase before. Though very briefly. After this, I'll see if I can try to talk to Ryu once I have the chance."
As soon as Stacy commented on the speed of his Digimon's eating speed, both Taiyo and Ken put down their bowls and said, "More, please!"
Ryosuke was surprised. Yet how could he since he witnessed them consume a whole pot of curry that was supposed to be for 4 people or so? At least this was proof of why he needed to take extra jobs in the Digital World. "Alright, one more bowl and that's it. After this, we need to start searching for jobs or we won't have enough money for dinner later."
"Okay! More curry ramen!" Taiyo cheered. "Reminds me a lot of Ryosuke's curry!"
Ken silently nodded as he gingerly put his chopsticks down.
Ryosuke didn't take too long to finish his bowl before he ordered two more for his Digimon. Thank goodness he got some extra salary yesterday. After that, he turned to Stacy once she answered regarding the side effects of Spirit Wielders. "That is true. This makes me wonder if that also applies to Tamers as well. Besides, I mostly treated Taiyo and Ken as my surrogate sons. I wonder how other Tamer treat their Digimon."

Stacy snorted with laughter before she said "I guess dropping them is leagues better than accidentally getting them jammed up your nose while eating. Boy am I grateful I am not that uncoordinated. My depth perception may be bad but it's not that bad. I had more trouble in the beginning with the Japanese language. More with reading than speaking it. It seems digimon have a natural gift for learning languages and even with my learning disabilities I spent a ton of time on the streets as Hinookamimon which allowed me to speak the language fluently in less than a year. Reading it took a little longer and I can still confuse characters at times even though I have been in Japan for almost four years. I came to Japan when I was thirty eight."
Taiyo and Ken finished their serving and asked for another bowl which surprised Ryosuke but not Stacy. She knew many digimon could pack away a lot of food. Sometimes to the shocking level and small digimon tended to be more surprising in many regards not just food related. Ryosuke ordered two more for his partners after mentioning not having enough money for more if they had more after that. "You know something that may help save some of the money made from those jobs is maybe learning about edible plants growing in the Digital World and foraging for food or fishing. The reason I suggested this is because you, Taiyo, and Ken seem to be omnivorous in nature. I'm sure there would be some digimon that would be willing to provide you with pictures of edible plants. One curious one to look out for is called a meat apple. I just recommend you cook those first cause if you don't they taste like raw meat. Believe me I learned that lesson the hard way when looking for food here in the Digital World. Foraging will be even more handy when not in towns."
"As for how other tamers treat their partners." Stacy began as she finished her ramen before setting her chopsticks down for a moment and picking up her green tea before continuing "It seems to vary from mutual alliance, to friends or siblings, and I've also seen another fella who considers his partner as his daughter. He is a bit of an odd duck himself since he basically has taken on the super hero career path but he has a good heart. I am kinda a super hero but work with what appears to be some organization that just tries to keep the balance. The group is called AEGIS and has members that are not only human but digimon members as well. Unlike the superhero dad I mentioned I have a bit more patience. Maybe it's a thing that came with age but I don't know."

Ryosuke chuckled again after hearing that story. "That makes sense. Still, I'm surprised, yet glad that Digimon have ways to learn languages a bit faster than us. I did have trouble speaking English when I was in college and it took me a while to get the accent right during some meetings from abroad."
When Stacy made suggestions regarding his food issues, he hummed in thought at them. "I never knew they grow meat in here. Then again, I doubt that logic exists in the Digital World. It might be a bit awkward if I tell them where meat comes from back in our world."
Ryosuke was surprised at some mentions Stacy put up during her explanation. Especially the mention of AEGIS, the organization she worked for. "I see. So it's not one and the same. Then again, I believe there is no right way to take care of a Digimon. That also applies to taking care of a child. So you won't see me complain a lot about Ryu." Since he noticed that his Digimon were still eating, he might sneak in one more question. "Speaking of which, do organizations like AEGIS are common in the Digital World? I'm surprised I never heard of it until now. Then again, I haven't heard of a Digimon and the Digital World until I got Taiyo and Ken."

"To think I've grown up speaking English and I can understand how with all the languages crazy rules that how people would struggle to learn the language. Nevermind the difficulties that also come with accents." Stacy said as a random thought made her snicker as she then said "To think there are American accents that make the English language hard to understand. With my habit of copying accents out of habit I was glad I never was exposed to some of those harder to understand accents as it would of made talking to others interesting."
Stacy nodded in agreement at Ryosuke's words before she said "Indeed. It seems the Digital World's loose grasp of logic at times seems to be its own kind of logic. Basically in this world weird seems to be normal."
"I'm not sure about similar organizations in the Digital World seeing as AEGIS is a Human World organization that just also happens to have digimon and humans working alongside each other. As for not hearing about such a thing it makes sense as Digimon are not common knowledge to most humans. Only a minority of the world's population have been chosen by the Digital World it seems."
