A few days after Circe began exhibiting telepathic abilities while they were in Terminus Mandrake and his family came to a stop in the middle of a seemingly quiet field in the Eastern Timberlands. Stopping the car Mandrake, Lothar, and Circe climbed out and walked a few steps away from the vehicle. Since the first headache Circe experienced a few days ago the child exhibited a few more which led Mandrake to come to a quiet place to help her learn to control the power on her own.
Sitting down in the grass, Mandrake silently instructed Circe to do the same. Meanwhile Lothar began walking off looking for some food and firewood so they could eat a little later. When Lothar vanished from sight but was still within range of Mandrake's ability to telepathically sense his husband, Mandrake looked to Circe and said "Now, little one, as you know we have come out here to help you control your telepathic power, so you don't suffer from migraines related to them."
"Daddy, did you get headaches like this?" Circe asked sounding worried she would have another migraine but calmed down as Mandrake smiled.
"Yes, my dear, but I was much much younger than you were when my mental abilities surfaced since I exhibited psychic energies as early as my in-training days. My father, in other words, your grandfather worked with me when those abilities surfaced. It is nothing to be afraid of. If you could learn to control your magic fairly quickly, your telepathy shouldn't be so bad to learn to control either." Mandrake said his smile reaching his sapphire eyes making it clear to Circe that her father was smiling at her, and she smiled in return. "So, Circe, shall we begin?" the magician asked causing his very human appearing spider child to nod eagerly indicating she was ready in turn.

Smoke was enjoying his day just lounging on the branch of a nearby tree eating some leaves when he noticed a vehicle approaching. The vibrations of the engine radiating through the ground, up the branch of the tree and shaking the branch the small (S)Dokunemon was resting. Twitching his antenna to get a better fix on the new arrivals they seemed to stop in the field off in the distance.
Smoke looked off into the distance as 3 individuals departed the larger craft. Two larger individuals and one smaller one. It seemed they were a family unit. The two larger ones were likely tending to the care and wellbeing of the smaller. This idea brought Smoke back to his time with Cherrymon in the village of beginnings. One day he was going to have to return to his first home and see how everyone was.
Continuing to watch the trio Smoke noticed that while two of them remained close to their vehicle, the third was coming closer to the tree he was hiding in. The (S)Dokunemon hugged the branch he was on and pressed his body as close as he could as he observed the oncoming individual to see if they were friend or foe.

"Alright, Circe, first you need to clear your mind before tapping into your newly active talent. Then I will tell you what you need to do next." Mandrake said and Circe nodded before closing her eyes and taking deep breaths. Slowly but surely her mind began to clear as she began feeling sensations that she wasn't familiar with. However, since she was with Mandrake she figured her father would know what this was.
"Okay, Daddy, my mind is clear, but I feel something odd." the young very human looking spider child said.
Nodding Mandrake then said "That would likely be that you are faintly sensing the minds around you. This is nothing to panic about as it is a sensation that I feel every day. This allows you to know if there are others around you. Then again seeing that we are near a forest sensing others minds other than our humble family isn't so odd." Mandrake explained before he continued "However to focus on particular individuals much like channeling your magic you need to direct your mental energies towards the individual in question. This might take some practice, so don't feel too frustrated if you don't get it perfectly the first time." Yes, Mandrake was mentally aware of the lifeforms nearby him but sense they had stopped near a forest he knew that was not odd.
"Okay, Daddy. I'll try." Circe said as she attempted to do as Mandrake had instructed.
Meanwhile nearby in the forest Lothar had been gathering firewood while keeping an eye out for food of some kind. Occasionally Lothar sniffed the air however all he was smelling was someone in a nearby tree. Looking up Lothar was able to make out what looked like a Kunemon but black in color which could indicate a possible variant or even just a regular Kunemon with a unique color scheme. This made the Leomon think of his and Mandrake's eldest son LJ when he was a hatchling as when LJ was in his fresh through rookie forms LJ had taken on a color scheme of an Impmon.
Deciding not to be rude Lothar said, "Hello up there."

Smoke was trying to be as quiet as possible as he watched the Leomon approach. He remained as low and as close to the branch and trunk of the tree as his larger body could squeeze as the Leomon started gathering branches and other brush. Smoke inched closer down the tree only to be spotted by the champion level Digimon. Smoke froze where he clung once spotted. Tiling his head when addressed Smoke twitched his antenna at Lothar.
"Hello?" He responded back, although did not move from his perch. "What is a Leomon doing in these parts?" Smoke asked inquisitively. From what he heard of Leomon, they were a noble species of Digimon and rarely attacked weaker opponents. If this particular specimen was typical of his species that'd give Smoke the advantage. "Don't think I have ever met a Leomon in my travels."

Circe took deep breaths as she tried to tap into the raw power coming from her mind and as if a door was unlocked, she began to feel mental energies of those coming from the forest. Not only that but she also was feeling something coming from much closer. Was this what Mandrake felt all the time? Granted it didn't feel painful, yet it curiously felt comforting much like a warm blanket. "Daddy, I feel something really close to me. Is that you? Is this comforting feeling a normal sensation?" Circe asked losing focus.
"Yes, my dear. It seems you are feeling my presence near you and likely those nearby in the forest. As for the feeling being normal for me it is more than that. For me it is like I would feel incomplete without it." Mandrake said before he asked, "Are you up for practicing some more before Lothar comes back?" Circe nodded eagerly and once again began working on clearing her mind waiting for further instructions from her Wizardmon father.
Meanwhile with Lothar he noticed how wary the curious looking Kunemon appeared to be upon asking him what a Leomon was doing in those parts. Trying to come off as unthreatening as possible, Lothar answered "Just gathering some firewood before I plan on finding some food for myself and my family. My husband and our youngest child are just outside the forest waiting for me to come back." When the dark colored Kunemon mentioned not ever meeting a Leomon in his travels Lothar said, "I suppose that makes us even, friend, as I never met a Kunemon with your particular color scheme in all my travels."

Smoke's antenna twitched as a small spark arched between them as he listened to the Leomon. His head tilted towards the large vehicle and the pair just shy of it. "A Family huh? I have no real family of my own. Not since I left the Village of Beginnings and Caretaker Cherrymon's watchful presence." The (S)Dokunemon revealed as he inched lower down the tree and closer to the Leomon Lothar. He was still a bit warry of the champion Digimon. He knew Leomon had Fire abilities and those would be most problematic for a bug as himself.
"Yes, I guess I am quite Unique in that regard." Smoke responded to the comment about his skin's color. "I am a Sub-species of Dokunemon actually, specifically a shadow program of the species." Almost as if on cue the larval Digimon's body seemed to almost fade and turned semi-transparent; revealing the bark of the tree he was clinging to under him. "I am a ShadowDokunemon, although I guess you may call me Smoke. It's the name I choose to go by." Smoke finished as he turned his attention away from the pair in the distance and back towards the Leomon. "What is your name; or do you choose to just go by Leomon?"

Mandrake said "Alright, little one. Now we will practice your ability to read minds. Just remember a talent like this should not be misused. Promise me not to force your way into others minds and to ask permission much like I do when reading minds. After that we will practice talking to others telepathically which doesn't involve reading their thoughts."
"Okay, Daddy. I promise to use my talents responsibly, so others aren't uncomfortable around me." Circe answered. Then the two of them began clearing their minds.as Mandrake began to reach out to her intending to guide the young spider child and that using telepathy to do so would be easier.
"No family huh?" Lothar said before he continued "Then again are you sure you don't have relatives you never met? Such a thing is not impossible after all." Then as the Kunemon variant explained that he was a shadow program of the species the larval digimon seemed to fade turning semi-transparent. "A ShadowDokunemon eh? With your talent to become transparent not only is such a species name fitting, but I also think your name fits you as well. It is nice to meet you Smoke. I do indeed have a name and my name is Lothar. Come to think of it you seem to share a talent similar with my husband Mandrake as he can make himself invisible."

"Can he now?" The (S)Dokunemon asked inquisitively as he inched closer to the ground. "I was hatched in the Village of Beginnings. Seems so long ago now. My only 'family' there was the Caretaker Cherrymon. Although I did play with the other baby digimon while I was there. I have met several other Kunemon in my travels but have never met anyone I could identify as family." Smoke turned his head slightly away as if to portray some level of disappointment.
Turning back towards Lothar his antenna seem to spark with enjoyment. "Well Lothar, perhaps I should meet your husband and child." Smoke climbed the rest of the way down the trunk of the tree and now stood exposed on the ground next to the roots. His Black skin complemented by his green stripes, and purple feet. "That is, if you do not mind introducing me to them. would also like to check out that vehicle of yours. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it."

When Smoke said, "Can he now?" Lothar nodded before the Leomon answered "Yes he can. It is apparently a magical talent picked up upon digivolving into a champion level digimon. Granted unlike Mandrake and his father my side of the family is far from magical in nature. However, of our four kids the only one to not have magic is our adopted son."
Then when Smoke described how things were in the Village of Beginnings, Lothar said "At least one advantage I can see to growing up in the Village of Beginnings is that there are always other digimon to play with around your age. I bet digimon who grew up in the village were far from lonely with all the others there. I myself much like Mandrake didn't grow up in the Village of Beginnings. I was raised by my parents who are traveling merchants while Mandrake grew up in a village filled with magicians. I know one thing wandering the land would have been lonely for me if not for my parents. Later we came to Mandrake's home village and met when we were in training digimon."
When Smoke mentioned meeting Lothar's husband and child the Leomon looked briefly at a nearby tree seeing it was filled with meat apples. With a punch mighty enough to shake the tree the meat apples fell to the ground. After gathering a bunch of them up Lothar turned back to Smoke and said, "I can lead you the way to them if you'd like. As for our vehicle I can see how it could be fascinating to other digimon." Meanwhile Mandrake was in a deep state of focus as he was mentally giving Circe instructions.

"Indeed there was." Smoke chirped with his purple beak. "I had many other baby Digimon to play with back in those days." The (S)Dokunemon paused a moment as if to remember. "Things changed; they grew and Digivolved and left to live lives outside the village. Leaving me there... Alone."
Smoke turned back to Lothar after listening to his story. "It is good you found each other and started a family of your own-" Getting cut off by the Champion level Digimon striking the tree he was huddled under the smaller rookie quickly scurried away from the falling Meat-apples. "Some warning would have been nice," The (S)Dokunemon scolded before rushing over to one of the apples and quickly digging into it. There was nary a digital husk remained when the larval Digimon was finished.
"Well if you're done collecting your kindling and knocking fruit from the tree I will follow."

"I suppose one advantage you saw to digivolving to your current form is that you could head out and not only see the Digital World but maybe the Human World as well. Not only that you could spend time making friends with humans and other digimon so your life wouldn't be a lonely one." Lothar said as Mandrake briefly stopped giving Circe mental instructions turning to listen to the conversation.
When Smoke mentioned that Lothar could have warned him about the falling meat apples the mighty Leomon rubbed the back of his head before he said "Sorry about that, Smoke. Usually no one is under the meat apple tree when I am knocking them down from them. Still, I am glad that you are alright."
"I assure you, Smoke, that Lothar usually means no harm to anyone." Mandrake said contributing to the conversation while Circe was sitting quietly with her eyes shut as if still focusing on the telepathic instructions Mandrake had given to her.
"I'm ready whenever you are, Smoke." Lothar then said.
