The plains he walked upon was becoming a simply endless sight, a seemly infinite sea of grass that extended as far as his knees. When he got out of the trailmon and later out of terminus, Charles had felt this little burst of excitement, this feeling of hope in his journey to find his spirits. But now as he looked upon the loose rocks reflecting the occasional rays of sunshine hours later, his thoughts felt a clouded as the grey sky above him. He was slowly beggining to remember he hadn't slept in days, and had been on a stream of endless walking during that time.
Exausthed, he fell to his knees, and his D-Tector fell from his pocket, as if to mimic its owner. Charles coughted before slowly standing again, holding to the wall of the small rocky moutain next to him, his legs aching with every moment that passed.
Charles noticed, a few steps later, this sort of opening in the mountain, a cave apperantly. Not sure how much longer could just go about walking with no direction in especific, he turned to his new friend, Mana. It was still hard to believe anyone could still want to befriend him, but she was so persistant, not quitting from wanting to aid him, despite all the horrible things hr could her his spirits had done. In the end, she even came with him to the digital world to find his remaining possibly psychopatic spirits. It was...remarkable.
"Hey, Mana? How about we rest in that cave over there. I mean we've been walking for hours and it's almost impossible to tell what time of the day it is due to this weather." Charles stated. He wasn't going to tell her about the whole not sleeping for days thing, he knew she'd probably try to help, and she arledy was doing more than enought for him, just by willingly being anywhere near him. Also because something else was disturbing Charles: his spirits had been strangely silent since he met Mana. Perhaps her advice was really working?

Mana couldn’t but feel a déjà vu when they arrived at the endless expanse of plains outside Terminus City. Seriously, all the spirits were supposed to be here? It’s just a boring plain!
Well, she couldn’t complain, actually. As with Carrie, the travel had been rather uneventful, and the Trailmon was more or less friendly with the few passengers that were in there. It even chatted with her about its favourite food. Their time on the city itself had been short too, Charles seemed to be just your everyday cut-to-the-chase guy. He seemed to want to get his spirits as fast as possible, and Mana found commendable the perseverance he had in attaining that objective.
Ayaka, of course, has always with her guard up, albeit she was hiding it behind of her polite persona. She genuinely liked Charles, but at the same time was more than eager to show to that clown that had said that nonsense about assimilation that spiders were pretty good at assimilating their food too.
Their trip had been uneventful until it seemed that Charles was finally exhausted. It wasn’t a surprise, really. He seemed to be in a really bad shape, and maybe was pushing himself a little too much. Mana helped him up, but for now, she opted to not to say nothing. Well, at least until he asked her opinion about resting inside the cave.
“Alrighty, if you’re tired we’ll enter” she cheerily answered. He was more or less right about the weather making it impossible to predict the time. But maybe...
“Pardon my interruption, but we have approximately four hour until dusk” intervened Ayaka. Mana looked with a puzzled expression at her “Miss Mana, as my nature indicates, I am pretty much aware of most environmental facts. It should not surprise you that much, really” she nonchalantly justified herself.
“Anyway, I’m still fine with resting a bit. I’m a little hungry, so maybe we can grab a bite in there, What do you say, Charles-san?”

It was handfull to have a digimon such as Ayaka helping them, afterall, it seemed to be nice enought to be able to know what time it was despite the dreadfull weather. Ayala also agreed with Charles's suggestion to go rest a bit in the cave, even proposing to eat there as well.
This way they headed for the cave and it wasn't long before they got there. The contents of the cave were shocking: there were piles of eletronical equipment spread all over the cave, a small closet which Charles found to be full of batteries and some blueprints in a long wooden table. Those blueprints seemed to be impossible to understand, not just the language, but also the images.
Despite this, Charles was too tired to try to find another place to sleep at. He sat on the cave's floor, exausthed. In his head a series of questions flyer around, torturing him. Who lived here? Would he be doing that wrong by trying to stay here? What were those blueprints about? Why did they seem so familiar?
Despite everything, Charles fell asleep quickly, before he could even eat as Mana had suggested. He woke up with the sound of this mettalic, four-legged digimon with it's brain inside a glass container approaching. The digimon, like the blueprints seemed strangely familiar to Charles to no reason he knew off.
"My name is Datamon and this is my office." The digimon told them in an eletronic voice "I will ask you the justification for your presence in it and ask you to leave without violence. No further warnings shall be made."
"Listen, my name is Charles Ashmore and we were just trying to rest a bit because..." Charles began to explain, still sleepy.
"Nano Bomb" Datamon mechanically said, strange missiles coming from his fingers and flying towards them. Charles was able to dodge them by luck, and they crashed into the walls of the cave, piercing holes into them.
" Oh great another fight." Charles complained to himself before drawing his D-Tector. " Spirit fraction evolution execute!"
Charles turned to Replimon.

Well, the cave was interesting indeed. It was more like a laboratory than a cave! But it just seemed that poor Charles was just too tired and decided to take a nap on the spot. So as the boy slept, Mana and Ayaka took out some food and some soft drinks and started eating in relative silence.
“He looks like he hasn’t slept in a while, don’t you think?” asked the girl while she ate an onigiri
“Yes. I was afraid to mention it to not to sound impolite, but he looks to be completely exhausted. I guess it is really hard to bear with the weight he is carrying”.
“Well, at least he’ll have something to eat when he wakes up and maybe we can even…” her voice was interrupted by some metallic steps, and then a metallic guy who seemed to be rather mad with us appeared, asking Charles about what we are doing here and to leave. It was fine after all, as we were intruding. But the damn toaster with legs just attacked him before he could even say an entire sentence!
Somewhat pissed, Mana took a good scan of the mon before thinking about their next step.
<Datamon; Level: Perfect; Type: Machine; Attribute: Virus; Families: Metal Empire>
A perfect that has attacked them without them doing anything? This was definitely not nice, but if a minuscule robot with superiority complex thought of them as pushovers, she’ll definitely show him that they aren’t pushovers.
“Ayaka, you ready?” Ayaka only nodded at her partner’s request. She despised violence, but this mon had interrupted her tea time and the only result of doing that is obviously a strong and murderous hatred towards the offender.
“Digimental UP!” as she said those words, Ayaka again was engulfed in that violet light that subsided only when her visage was replaced by Nephilamon’s.
“Sso you want to play, little robot? Then let’ss play” As she said those words, the mushrooms on Ayaka’s abdomen expelled two different types of spores. They were Bacillus Nebula and Adrenalina. Maybe if they played it slowly, they could reach a point where Datamon was so weakened that they could defeat him easily enough.
[OOC: Just asking, but any reason for your character to have evolved straight up to mega O:?]

(OOC: Ups, my mistake, thanks for pointing that out. I'll correct it by the end of this post. Also I'm gonna use the word "ultimate" instead of "perfect" for habit reasons.)
Ayaka evolved to her armor form almost Immediatly after Charles and attacked even before he did. However, the Datamon seemed to have no reaction, to just be stunned. Was it trying to trick them? Being an ultimate, he should have no probelm defeating them despite Replimon's adaptive strenght and Ayaka's skills and boosts and traps. Was theachine malfunctioning? That would explain why he attacked them.
But the unexpected ocurred: The Datamon got on his knees, his four knees and raised his arms towards Replimon, leaving him rather... Nothing? For some reason Charles couldn't see, Replimon seemed to see this behaviour as normal. Familiar. Again.
"*Why...are...you...doing that?" Charles finnaly had the strenght to have Replimon ask.
"You are the spirit wielder of the fog. I am sorry, I mistook you for mere wanderers. I waited for this day for a long time. As you can see, I have protected your work." Datamon replied.
"*What...work?" Replimon struggled to ask forcefully.
"The blueprints for your experiments. Like the one you are...wait, you haven't got all your spirits yet? But that means... It was good you came to me." Datamon stood and walked towards the cave, Replimon still in the same place. "You cam remove your evolutions and spirits now, I'm afraid I was mistaken there is no need to fight."
Out of curiosity, Charles returned to his human form.
"Who are you to me?" Charles asked, trying to figure why everything suddenly seemed familiar.
"Please sit, all of you and makes yourselves comfortable. I have long waited the arrival of Splintermon's host. I fear you don't have him yet, so I may be able to help you. Poor boy you are, you have no idea of what you got yourself into..."
"Splintermon? Is he... The creator of my spirits, the one they keep talking about? Who is he? Why are they all psychos?"
"Calm down, I can only answer so many questions at one time. Yes, Splintermon created all the other spirits you wield. Some, like Steamdramon are fractions of him while others, like Replimon are his experiments. I will tell you the story if you would like it. May I just ask who this two lovely ladies are?"
"I think I'll let them introduce themselves."

Ayaka was still alert, but she couldn’t deny that she was also somewhat surprised when the Datamon seemed to just be paralyzed. Her spores still would react in her next turn so… What was actually happening?
The little piece of junk then started cryptically talking about experiments and blueprints, and suggested that we could actually devolve if we wished. She really wanted to just pounce on him and rip his know-it-all head off, but Mana undid the evolution. He then leaded them to a table, where the four of them sat. She still was cautious of both Charles and Datamon, not knowing if or when anybody could try something funny.
Mana heard the explanation about Splintermon and his experiments, and how Datamon somehow pitied Charles, although she wasn’t sure of the trueness of the feeling. And he then had the gall to ask for their names. She didn’t like the situation one bit but decided to go with it.
“My name’s Tsumura Mana” she cautiously said “And she’s Ayaka, my partner”
Ayaka venomously looked at the robot digimon at the mention of her name. “I would say that it's a pleasure to meet you, mister Datamon, but that commentary is only reserved for persons with non-Neanderthal manners. You are the first being who ever interrupted my tea time. Hopefully you will not be foolish enough to do that mistake again”.
OOC: It's fine, I just found that fact curious. Also, use whatever term you are more comfortable with. I understand most of the terminologies.

Mana and Ayaka introduced themselves, but Datamon didn't seem satisfied, especially after Ayaka's threat.
" I meant who you are to Charles." Datamon asked "But I will assume..." Datamon complained
"Don't assume, they're my friends." Charles stated quickly.
"Friends? Doesn't make sense for wielder of the fog to use that terminology. But I assume choosing a human has it's downsides."
"You said you could explain me the "story" behindy spirits."
"Yes, of course. but where to begin?... Splintermon wasn't always the visionary he became. He began as one of your little "friends" people, always promoting tolerance and peace, despite his genious. He believed in "hope" an"always trying again if you failed". I have to agree with him in that last part, but he soon came to his great realisation: the world was too slow, it would be consumed before perfection was achieved. He needed to speed up the process. So he began his experiments. Hundreds if lifes were sacrificed for them."
"Sacrificed?"
"I guess they were not willing, but it was for a greater cause..."

Ayaka now kept her guard only to Datamon. She couldn’t believe that that little concentration of scrap metal had the gall to be so disrespectful to both her and her tamer. It asked who were they, not who what they meant to Charles and even tried to make assumptions. Yes, not having her tea made her a lot more susceptible to get pissed, but this guy just had a way to get on her nerves.
Mana listened to the little machine guy’s tale attentively. Dread crept up to her stomach when she heard what this Splintermon had done in his search for the so-called perfection and progress.
“With all due respect, Datamon-san, ‘Genius’? So he began researching for that so-called perfection, murdered innocent beings by the hundreds for its sake, and even spent his entire lifetime at it, but failed miserably nonetheless. I don’t even see a trace of genius in there, if you ask me. And even then, what’s so good about this ‘perfection’ thing? Why it is so vital for him to attain it before the world ends? It will end anyway, even if you attain your so precious perfection or not, you know…” she was about to say that she thought that this Splintermon was no more and no less than a deluded madman that just enjoyed killing when he lost his faith in the world, but preferred to keep those words for herself, after all, they were in a place they didn’t know with a digimon that was at least one level superior than them. Granted, Ayaka could get them out of here in matter of seconds because of her incredible speed while she was under the effects of one of her techniques, but maybe this guy actually knew something useful about Charles’ spirits.

"Oh, but that's where you are wrong, Ayaka." Datamon continued "Splintermon did not fail. Not entirely. You sew we sought perfection, thought we were aware we could never attain it. Perfection isn't fixed: the higher we go, the higher it goes too. But our intention was not to have the world become perfect. It was to have the world loose it's tendency for self-destruction and attempt to learn from it's mistakes truly. And what are a few lifes compared to the safety of the entire world? But the story isn't finished yet."
"It isn't?" Charles inquired.
"No, and if I am allowed to continue without further interuptions... As I was saying, Splintermon Began his experiments. You will wield two of them, possibly three Charles Ashmore, if you manage to get that far. Replimon, Chaoskimeramon, Voidmon... But moving on, finnaly Splintermon one reached an experiment he believed to be... Adequate. They had taken especial risks with these one, particulary powerfull digimon were sacrificed for it. But it lacked something rather important: a mind. Splintermon used himself for this purpouse, afterall what was his life compared to a bright future? But the experiment developed a mind of it's own when Splintermon joined it, and it drew it's sword and stabbed itself throught the chest, killing not only itself, but also it's creator. However, Splintermon was capable of dividing itself into two minor entities in his last moments: Nightspellmon and Nightdramon. Nightdramon became a tyrant, judging everyone by it's own set of rules. In the end he fell at the hands of fools who had previously challenged Splintermon and hide Nightdramon's spirit. Nightspellmon lived much linger, a cunning visionary like his creator, but in the end fell to a mistake he committed. But he succeed in creating his own successor, Steamdramon, who became a skilled assassin, but disappeared shortly after coming to existance. Some of the followers of Splintermon, such as myself still guard his unfinished work, awaiting his immortal return."
"Immortal?"
"Why do you think he choose to become a spirit? Certainly not to become a toy for weak human... And about that..."
Datamon headed for the closet and pushed it aside. Behind it was a dusty, long red cloak with a strange mark on it.
"What is that?" Charles asked.
"One of Nightspellmon's original cloaks." Datamon replied " I found it once after his demise. It's an offset for you, Charles Ashmore. It is rumored to be able to assist the wielder of the fog to find his spirits."
Datamon hurled the cloak at Charles, who remained confused. Suddenly this guy was giving him gifts?

“Not succeeding is failing in my books, at least there I know that there’s no mid-term. You either win, or you lose. He even died in vain and both his offsprings died without achieving anything too. It just seemed that his genius only served to make him realize that he’d fail and that’s why he sought a method to “continue” his work and maybe have better luck this time” Mana wasn’t going to say that this all immortal thing just sounded like a really creepy cult worshipping some deranged madman who had spent his lifetime basically doing nothing sans leaving some experiments that haunted anybody unlucky enough to find them. And that person was Charles. She felt genuinely sad for the cruel fate that had befallen to the boy next to her, and now was more driven than ever into finding a solution for it.
After the robotic mon threw the cloak at Charles, Mana found her voice again. That was definitely their cue to leave, or at least that’s what she thought. “Well, I think that if you don’t have anything else to say, we should get going. What do you think, Charles?"
She knew that Ayaka was really pissed too, and really wanted to get out in a somewhat friendly way rather than running for it, should tempers flare.

After a reasonable complain, Mana suggested they left. Charles stood and nodded at her.
"I agree, we should get going." Charles said. But before he could start walking out, Datamon spoke again.
"Please take this too." The machine told Charles handing the Blueprits " You can read them with your digi-vices. Both of you, Charles Ashmore and Tsumura Mana."
"Thanks, I guess." Charles thanked taking the blueprints and leaving. Part of him wanted to burn those blueprints and another was really curious about what they contained." Let`s go Mana, Ayaka."
Then Charles began walking away. However, he stopped shortly after they left the cave. "Thank you both for you patience. This guy... I don`t know what to make of what he told us." he whispered to his friends. "It`s a lot to think about."

Mana smiled to Charles when he nodded at her. Yeah, it’d be definitely better if they left this place for good. But then, the Datamon handled some blueprints to them and said that both of them could read them with their digivices. Charles accepted them too and started walking away, both Mana and Ayaka bowed to Datamon before parting too, although the Kodamon still seemed to be really pissed at the little robot.
As they exited, Charles stopped yet again.
“You don’t have to thank us, Charles-san” Mana answered in a low tone with a smile “At least we’ve found out some information about your spirits. Gotta be honest and say that they’re a really bat-shoot crazy bunch, though. Anyways, most likely it’s getting late back at home, so I guess we’ll have to part ways after we return to the Human World. Do you have a D-Terminal address, a cellphone number or something like that so we can keep in touch? I would be really sad if I couldn’t find a friend again”
She waited until she gave him whatever he had, and then she resumed walking to Terminus City. Today was really an interesting day, to say the least.
