It was a beautiful day. The sun was up and was beginning to cut away the morning chill. Hiro suppressed a yawn as he shifted his bag to a more comfortable position on his shoulder. School had been extra boring. He thanked god for the fact that Saturday was a half day. If there was one thing he sorely missed about America, it was the weekends.
A rustling in his bag told Hiro that his partner had awakened and he sighed in response. He mentally counted down the seconds before his partner flipped the flap open, popped his head out of the bag and asked the same question he had for the last week.
"So we're going to the Digital World?"
"Again, yes." Hiro rolled his eyes at the question. He didn't really mind repeating himself a few times, but Tetsu had been asking the same line of questions for days and frankly, he was starting to get tired of it.
"So... why are we still here?"
Hiro paused in mid step and stopped. He tilted his head down towards his messenger bag and the passenger sitting inside it. Tetsu was looking up at him with a petulant expression. Ever since he had said they were going to the Digital World, Tetsu had been acting like a child on a car trip.
"Because I can't just leave buddy. I've got... things..." Hiro finished lamely. It was a vague excuse, but not one without substance. While he wasn't placing a large amount of importance on school, disappearing for days or weeks would probably be suspicious and his brother would kill him once he returned.
Then there was the bulk of the matter.
They didn't know anything about the Digital World.
Tetsu came pre-bundled with a bunch of information about Digimon, Tamers, and even his Digivice. However, it seems that any real information that the little guy had on the Digital World was either really vague or completely incomprehensible.
"A library in the middle of a forest, a factory that builds and disassembles in an endless cycle, a spring of soup, it all makes no sense." Hiro complained. "I need some real information."
"Ahahaha. I keep telling you. It's not going to help." Tetsu laughed at his partner's antics. "The Digital World is something you need to experience."
"Yeah, well forgive me for wanting some information on the foreign area I'm jumping into." Hiro retorted. "I dunno. I just want another opinion."
"Well good luck with that." Tetsu said as he climbed out of the bag. The little guy scampered up his partner's arm until he was able to lay on top of his head. "I doubt we'll just find people that know about the Digital World walking around."
"It doesn't have to be a person. Just another Digimon would do. I just want to know if the place is as crazy as you describe or if you've been to weird places." Hiro pointed out.
"Bleh, I still say we should just go." Tetsu whined.
"Ha. Tell you what. If we just find a Digimon randomly today, I'll ask him about the Digital World and then we'll go the next chance we get. Otherwise, you leave me alone about this. Deal?" Hiro grinned as he threw up a hand for his partner to shake. Like that would happen. There was no chance that they would just find a Digimon or Tamer on the way home. All he had to do was cut through the park and get home. Easy win.
"Deal!" Tetsu grabbed the hand with both paws. Ha, they kept meeting other Digimon and Tamers whenever they went out. The chance was even greater when he was out in plain sight like this on top of Hiro's head, so a Digimon or Tamer would see them and hopefully come talk. Easy win.
Inwardly, both partners thought the same thought.
'Sucker!'

Beyond the shadowy presence of the birds, the day was going quietly. He had managed to convince his digimons to shut up...for once. The bright sun in the sky was just down slowly like a gigantic closing eye, giving them an afternoon before it disappeared from the sky.
Elson found himself reminding himself of the days he spent with his father, back in New York. Oh yes, Lose were days...Elson just missed him so much he'd swim back to New York and find his father if not...well, of not for the fact he'd drown way before he got there.
Still, he had gome back home and got his fusion loader about an hour ago. Drimogemon had complained about the noises Elson's mother made while taking care of the house, Tinkermon was upset about Elson had forgotten his fusion loader at home and Silversteamdramon simply greeted him and asked to be taken out.
Truth was, maybe they deserved he took them out today, since he had left them behind. So he walked to the place he was now, a place minimally hidden from the usual inattentive presence and loaded out his three partners, Silversteamdramon, Tinkermon and Drimogemon.

"Man Kotemon, I'm REALLY loving Japan right now." Duffer said, smiling happily as he took a walk. "I mean, a few days ago I would've been terrified to leave the house, but because I can't understand what they're saying on TV and adults don't seem to care WHERE their children are at any time, there's nothing stopping me from going right to the arcade and wasting all my time and money on a UFO machine. There's no pressure to keep an eye on children and adventures are everywhere. It's like I'm in some kind of weird version of Vice City where I can't break any laws but can still do stupid and funny things."
Kotemon, who'd spent the last few months with Duffer, had heard this exact same bit of rambling before. "Duffer, you don't know anything about this city. You can't find the arcade on a map, your exchange-parents only give us enough money for lunch, we're in detention half the time, you refuse to go with my training, you're deadly terrified of strangers, spiders, darkness, fire, snakes, the ocean, and pretty much ANYTHING that even resembles a horror movie you've watched. You are a complete wreck and we need to work on that before anything else... regardless, you never told me about your life in America so I have no context in this conversation."
"Oh man, America's great, Kotemon. It's like Japan, except without Digimon and you can understand what everyone's saying and talking about." Kotemon stopped Duffer. "No Digimon?" The mon asked, curious. "Eeyup. That means we won't have to worry about all that stuff in the Digital World." "...Duffer. I am a Digimon and you are my partner." "Well yeah, I know that." "As in we need to stay close together in order to stay strong." "Yeah, that's why I-" "Duffer. Your current housemates don't want us living together. Your teachers think I am a bad influence on you. You can hardly afford to feed both of us. How would BOTH OF US make it to America?" "Well, you don't HAVE to come." "I have to remind you nightly to bathe and brush your teeth. I've stopped you from jamming your fingers into electrical sockets two times now, I would literally die if we're separated for too long." Kotemon grabbed Duffer and dragged him to eye-level. "WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE SEPERATED."

Hiro briefly wondered if fate had a vendetta against him. It was a recent thing too. Whenever he tempted fate, it answered back with a vengeance. Personally, he blamed Tetsu. He was pretty sure that this started when the Dorimon entered his life. Not that fate wasn't odd around him before, but it's attention had fallen on him hard after the little guy stuck to him like glue.
Tetsu knew that fate was on his side. He had found his partner right away in the human world and they had met a bunch of friends. Heck, whenever they wanted to do something, things tended to go their way even if it didn't go the way they wanted it to.
They both thought this since right after shaking on their deal, they spotted two people.
They were both foreigners and if Hiro was being honest, he probably would have just avoided them. He didn't exactly have any fascination with people from out of Japan and the last thing he wanted was to have to cater to some tourist. So like any good Japanese person, he would just walk away (And he worried that he wasn't fitting in back in Japan) but the problem was at second glance.
The first kid had a device in his hands. It was a rectangle like thing that Hiro immediately placed as a Digivice. It's design was different from his and even the D-Scanner he had seen before, but it was obviously not a toy or a phone, which left a Digivice. Then the Digivice spat out a trio of Digimon.
Hiro briefly stared at the Digimon with a deadpan expression on his face. They weren't exactly inconspicuous. One being a fairy, one being a large narwhal with drills instead of a horn or claws and a robot of some sort. And they were out in the middle of a park.
Hiro looked around and saw that the immediate area was oddly empty, but still, they were in the middle of a public park. Was the Tamer trying to start a riot?
The second kid also had his Digimon out in the open. Though to be fair fair, the only reason he recognized it was a Digimon at all was because Tetsu pointed it out to him and chanted out his stats (Kotemon, Rookie level). Unlike Tetsu who Hiro played off as an oddly colored dog or a doll, Kotemon had the benefit of looking like a child in a Kendo Dougi. Well, if you ignored the demonic glowing eyes coming out the mask.
"Oh come on! You've got to be kidding me." Hiro said, the first part in English, a small twitch developing over his left eye.
"I win!" Tetsu cheered, jumping up and down on Tetsu's head. "Now go talk to them and then we can go to the Digital World."
"I...you...that doesn't...Argh!" Hiro sputtered in outrage before pressing a hand to his face and schooling his expression. "Fine, whatever."
Hiro started towards the boy and the Kotemon. He had wanted to talk to a Digimon about the Digital World and the less social interaction he had to do to get that the better. The fact that the Kotemon was manhandling the kid didn't stop him at all. Hell, if he was lucky, the Kotemon would yell at him, he could run away and forget this entire mess. If he was unlucky... well the guy spawning Digimon could always come over and people could wander into the park and see a bunch of kids with monsters in the park.
"Ano..." Hiro begun before pausing and twisting his face into a brief grimace as he realized he would probably be better off speaking English. The kid looked pretty white so chances were that he was a tourist or exchange student. He hoped to god they were from somewhere else that they spoke English, because the less that was said about his horrible attempts at learning Spanish and French the better for everyone. "Sorry. Hi, I was just wondering if I could talk to the Kotemon here. I've got some questions that I was wondering if he could answer."

The sound of another voice drew the two's attention away from each-other as they spotted Tetsu and Hiro. "Huh? What Kotemon, this is just my little broth-" Kotemon let go of Duffer, sighing as the partner hit the ground. "He already has a Digimon, Duffer, we're safe." Kotemon took out the training sword and pointed to the tiny adorable creature that stuck atop the japanese boy's head. "Obviously, he knows what I am because of the digivice, now get up... you've been acting a lot more foolish than usual, you ever notice that, Duffer?" Kotemon said, mentioning the inherent stupidity that had come from his partner since they first met. "Now, let's start proper and get a few things straight. My Partner is not to leave my side. Anything you wish to speak to me about you must speak with him about as well. Yes, this has cost us a few... companions..." Kotemon sighed, remembering the events of their first trip to the digital world, and how almost everyone involved avoided them like the plague now. It was a short pause as Kotemon remembered this painful memory. "But Duffer and I are both good people, and I will not leave him unless absolutely needed... Apologies, let me start over." Kotemon took a deep breath. "Duffer, would you do the honor?"
"Erm, sure buddy." Duffer got up and brushed himself off. "I am Fredrick Duffy, but everybody calls me Duffer. This is Kotemon, he... she... it's my best friend." He whispered to Hiro "Kotemon's a bit of a know-it-all but you get used to it." The tamer returned beside Kotemon and smiled. "So, what do you need?" ((Prophet said I could post before him))

"1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2..." Silversteamdramon said as he made some push-Ups.
"Silversteamdramon why are doing that? You're machine, you can't get any extra muscle!" Elson claimed. In front of him, his other two partners were busy palying with each other and pampeirng each other. If he didn't know them better, Elson would say they were in love. But then again, that was a theory that didn't take into account what Tinkermon did to EVERYONE she saw as a child.
"I'm training my general. If I need to lift or push something, I better be prepared." Silversteamdramon replied, dropping his attack.
"Os if we get attacked, you're gonna do push-Ups on our enemies?" Elson asked, saracasticly. However, ot seemed Silversteamdramon didn't hear the pun.
"My general...aren't those Duffer and Kotemon?" Silversteamdramon inquired. Elson turned to look.
"I'd say you're right. And they made some new friends, it seems...with a digimon, cause if I'm not mistaken that thing is one of dorumon's forms." Elson explained.
"Should we go?" Silversteamdramon asked.
"Of course. Tinkermon, Drimogemon load!" Elson shouted and the two digimon returned to Elson's xros loader. Elson then walked towards the two tamers and their digimon.
"Hi Duffer! Kotemon." Elson greeted the duo he meta on that confusing botamon day. He then turned to the other guy "And I don't think I know you, so I'm Elson. That guy coming this way is Silversteamdramon he was just finishing his push-Ups. Nice to meet you. Your name is?"

Hiro took a reflexive step backwards when the bamboo sword came startlingly close to his face to point at Tetsu. Not that he knew that, he was half expecting an attack. Half because Tetsu was startlingly good at placing intent and hadn't started to growl in his defense.
"Easy." Hiro said with a nervous smile on his face, raising his hands palm up to show he meant no harm. Wait, was that the same gesture in Japan? He had already gotten a few confused looks for using American gestures instead of Japanese ones. Whatever, if it became a problem he'd deal with it then. "I just want to ask a few questions. I was just wondering if you could tell me anything about the Digital World?"
"We're planning on going there, but worry pants over here wants more information." Tetsu huffed on top of Hiro's head. "I gave him a perfectly good example of what you'll find in the Digital World."
"A town full of burger places run by Digital Burgers is not exactly what I call a good explanation!" Hiro switched back to Japanese to yell at his partner.
"They're not Digital Burgers, they're Burgermon and it's not just them. There are Torikaramon too."
"Yes, so it's a town full of burgers and Chicken Nuggets selling burgers. That makes tons of sense!"
"If you lived in the Digital World it would. It's you humans who are weird!"
"Oh you did not just say that!" Hiro yelled, but Dorimon turned his nose away from Hiro in defiance. The twitch over his right eye returned with a vengeance here and Hiro could feel a small migraine building. "Grr..."
Luckily for Tetsu, a distraction kept Hiro from making a scene to continue to yell at him.
The boy that Hiro had seen before had approached them, apparently knowing Duffer from somewhere, and introduced himself. Hiro tilted his head and pointed a finger at himself. "Me? I'm Hiro, Tsukino Hiro and the grump up there is Tetsu."
"Hmph." Tetsu sniffed. He was in a bad enough mood that even the chance at new friends didn't break his petulance.

"Wait, they have burgers?" Duffer asked as Kotemon rolled its eyes and put away the sword. "And talking burger monsters that serve burgers? Isn't that cannibalism?" The boy shook his head before spotting Elson. "Oh hey it's... you. How's it been? And why is your digimon standing out in the open?" Duffer pointed at SilverSteamDramon. "Aren't these things supposed to be hidden from normal people so the government won't hunt us down and tear them open for investigation or use as super weapons? Because considering our partners your sticks out like a sore thumb." Kotemon looked at Duffer and sighed.
"Forgive Duffer, he's watched too many of what you humans call "Horror Movies". I'm afraid this aspect of him is irreparable. Everything else, however, makes him potential to be the perfect student. Stand up straight." Kotemon said to Duffer, the boy doing as ordered. "I will tell you about ourselves a bi later though, you want to know about the Digital World? The Digital World is largely safe if you stay in the cities and villages, where many fine establishments and businesses work to keep the increased flow of tamers and Digimon satisfied. If you leave the cities, I suggest you do so in numbers. Wild digimon and crazed tamers are less likely to attack what they believe to be credible threats... but as a teacher and your superior I MUST WARN YOU of a dangerous man in a suit and his bearmon. He is dangerous, and far more powerful then the three of us combined. His name was Everette and the Bearmon, Graedon. Fear them."

Having overheard part of the conversation, Elson and Silversteamdramon decided to step in.
"We're doing great, thanks.Nice to meet you Hiro and Tetsu. And about the comment, define "weird" Tetsu. Because if "weird" is unusual, then digimon are the weird ones as each one of them is far more different and distinguished from the rest than humans."Elson commented "But to answer your question, Duffer, I kinda forgot my figimon inside the xros loader the whole day and I promissed I'd let them out here to compensate."
Meaningwhile Silversteamdramon also had some things to comment.
"As for Duffer's question, in the digital world everything is data. If digimon look like burgers they're data based of burgers to take shape. Yet the burger's themselves are not digimon, and therefore not burgermon. This way, to say that burgermon eating burgers is cannibalism, then you have to say that humans eating meat of any kind is cannibalism." Silversteamdramon explained. "And to you, Hiro, Kotemon got it right except on one thing: cities and such can be even more dangerous than the wilds...just not as violent. If you get someone after you in a city or village, they have a thousand times as many resources than wild digimon and make no msitake, there evil civilized digimon. Many. But as long as you and your partner can take care of beating a few digimon in your own, you should be good to go."

"So treat it the like the human world basically." Hiro rubbed the back of his head with a sigh. Well, at least this conversation indicated that there were cities which meant civilization. The last thing he needed was to pack for a weekend trip and then find himself in the middle of nowhere attempting to rough it. He was a city boy and he doubted that he'd last long in the wild. "Good places and bad places and keep away from the bad neighborhoods."
He wasn't planning on going out into the wild. He wanted information more than anything and a city was more likely to have information than a village out in the middle of nowhere.
"And I doubt I'm going to run into whats his face, so don't worry." Hiro said, blowing off the warning and inadvertently dooming himself in the process.
"See, I told you." Tetsu said angrily down at his partner. He took a pawful of Hiro's hair and tugged on it hard. "Stupid, stupid, stupid."
"Ow, damnit Tetsu." Hiro swung a hand at the little fox to swat him off his head, but the digimon ducked the attack and continued to tug hair. The Digimon then turned to yelling at Hiro to shut up. Hiro growled. "Damnit Tetsu, no more anime for you."
"Anyways." Hiro shook his head and ignored his partner who was doing his best to imitate a certain omake that he had watched on his partner's computer. "Are there any humans in the Digital World, I mean, do I need to worry about Digimon looking at me weird or you know, putting me on a slab to disect me?"

Kotemon laughed. "No, Digimon accept now that humans are regulars in their world. Some humans even live there with jobs and intentions on raising families, it's quite interesting, really, how well some humans accept digimon so easily." Kotemon smiled... well, not that anyone would realize this. "Though some may be curious about you and wish to know more about you and your kind. Oh! One more thing. Human currency is not accepted in the Digital World. So yen, dollars, arcade coins, none of those work. When you get there you'll find yourself with bits. They can be exchanged for goods and services, much like human money." As Kotemon went on and on about the Digital Economy, Duffer finally found it in himself to shut Kotemon up. Grabbing Kotemon's training sword and making a precise strike on the helmet, the gong-like sound of the helmet echoed violently inside it.
While Kotemon dealt with this, Duffer took the wheel and tossed the false blade aside. "Sorry about that, Kotemon and I kinda have a thing about that... anyway, you'll be fine in the Digital World. It's got good food, beautiful scenery, nice places... but it's really... surreal." Duffer admitted. "You'll see some things you may not forget, like those attractive angels and their male counterparts (they're both digimon though, so I don't think it'd be a good idea to hit on them...) or the skyscraper that leads to the massive gash in the sky, that was cool! I never went to the top of the building because I get Vertigo really easily... but anyway, it's a really weird, really cool place. You'll love it!" As Duffer smiled again, Kotemon had gotten the ringing to stop and quickly repaid the favor to the tamer with a training sword to the shin. Naturally, Duffer went down to hold onto it, leading to the follow-up strike behind his head, sending him to the ground.
"Forgive my student, he fails to remember I can harm him just as much as he can harm me." Kotemon turned to the two who'd just joined the conversation. "Don't mind Duffer, he probably doesn't understand what you mean regardless. In the Digital World meat, as you humans know it, are grown like fruits and vegetables. How the Burgermon learned the recipe to the human hamburger is another mystery in itself... and the cities are not dangerous. I have paraded Duffer around a number of cities and not once have we encountered any dangers." Kotemon said, Duffer getting up by using Kotemon as support.

"You know, Kotemon, I really have to disagree again." Silversteamdramon said "Maybe me and my general are na exception, but everytime we go ANYWHERE in the digital world, we get attacked by some weirdo."
"I think we really are the exception, I mean, everybody reacts like we TRY to get attacked or something like that." Elson continued
"Well, I can`t say it`s too bad, though. I mean, we do get to do some training with all that fighting." Silversteamdramon stated with a chuckle. "In other words, you don`t have to worry as long as you can fight. You CAN fight right, Tetsu?" And then Silversteamdramon noticed how Duffer took his digimon`s sword and hit him on the head...hard. "Ouch!" Silversteamdramon whispered, rubbing the back of his head as if he had been the one that got hit.
Duffer then gave out his own opinion. Elson just looked at the guy, who a few days ago was so terrified of...well just about everything, that he couldn`t stop thinking of finding a place to hide from an oversized botamon, and yet now had taken hold of the conversation in the most bold, agressive way possible: by hitting his own digimon.
Of course, the Kotemon striked back, causing Duffer to fall down.
"Double Ouch?" Elson questioned, nealy feeling the pain of the strike. The Kotemon then talked to Silversteamdramon about the Burgermon mistery.
"Actually, if Burgermon are data immitating a burger, it`s likely that the very récipe they endlessly cook is what forms their shape." Silversteamdramon relied.

"Well that's reassuring, at least I can walk around without hiding." Hiro murmured, he was unsure of the whole humans in the digital world thing. People tended to be afraid of the unknown. But Digimon came in a bunch of shapes, many of which were pretty human, so it probably wasn't that far fetched that they would accept humans pretty easily. "I'm not sure what I could have done about hiding. It's not like I can stuff myself in a bag like Tetsu."
"I don't know what you're complaining about. Your bag is comfy." Tetsu commented before he recalled he was supposed to be angry and turned away in a huff.
Hiro took a step back to avoid the swinging shinai and turned to the duo of Elson and his partner. "Mmm, we've been in a few scraps but nothing too big. Tetsu here assures me that he can take anything though."
"I'm awesome." Tetsu stated regally from his place on Hiro's head.
"Right." Hiro rolled his eyes. "But the two of you mentioned cities. Is there a main hub or capital or something?"

Kotemon turned the attention back to Hiro. "Terminus City is the biggest and most successful location in the Digital World, and it is generally where those who come to the Digital World arrive. It's beautiful and a great location to raise a family and have a vacation in and I think they have an information center there but I am not one-hundred percent sure... anyway, just go to Terminus City. Get to the subway station and approach a broken elevator. Your digivice will let you enter and it will take you to the bottom of the subway where large digimon that look like your human trains, named Trailmon, will take you to the Digital World. Get onto the Purple trailmon, that's the one that takes you to Terminus. All the others will take you somewhere else. There's a portal straight there to be rumored to be in a tunnel by the Shibuya River, but Duffer doesn't like dark caves." Kotemon mumbled in a passive-aggressive way.
Duffer, meanwhile, continued discussing with SilverSteamDramon. "How come you know all this? And how can Digimon be made of data if I can physically interact with them? Not every piece of data is a program, how could they develop enough to become self-aware and be able to create physical bodies? They aren't robots... are they?" Duffer looked at Kotemon and picked the partner up, much to it's annoyance. "Kotemon can't be a robot. He... she... it is my best friend! Kotemon's warm on cold nights and caring enough to know everything about me. It can't just be a feedback loop, can it?"

"As Kotemon said, Terminus is the capital. The trailmon taht takes you there is the only one which won't go crazy about charges and travelling fees. As for being capable of fighting, Silversteamdramon is my expert. Hey Silversteamdramon?" Elson stated.
"Yes, my general?" the machine inquired.
"How can we test their capability to fight?" Elson asked
"Hum...Kotemon? I heard your sepcies is a master in honorable sword fighting. Tetsu doesn't have a sword, so we'll have to take it without swords, but the concept is esentially the same, I think. The point is: can you be the judge in a fight between me and Tetsu?" Silversteamdramon suggested. Then Duffer made his own questions "We digimon are no more of robots than you humans. Like we have our progams and data, you have your brains and DNA. As for physical bodies, all I know is that the human world and digital world are rumored to exist on separate dimensions, possibly being two on billions or more."
