Souji hadn't exactly meant to go wandering around his neighborhood. Well, not at first anyway. Everything had been fairly ordinary this morning. Wake up, get ready for school, play a little guitar to start the morning, and check the mail. He hadn't been expecting a well-wrapped package addressed to him...something he'd ordered online and forgotten about? It wouldn't be the first time.
He'd rushed off to school before he'd had a chance to open it, and, indeed, promptly forgot all about it once he was engaged in his classes. It wasn't until he returned home that Souji remembered the mysterious package, and took it off to his room to open.
A small device, not much larger than his palm, fell out onto the bed as he opened the package. The curious teenager picked it up and examined it. Primarily white, with gunmetal grey grip. A few buttons, a small screen, and what looked curiously like an old style cellphone antenna.
"Definitely not something I ordered, then," he mused aloud, stroking his chin.
He considered the device as he changed out of his school clothes...and right into something very similar. White dress shirt, black tie, black jeans, red sneakers. d
"Let's see what you are, then,"
And with that, he picked up the device and examined the display. The device came to life in Souji's hands, the screen flashing once or twice, before revealing what could only be described as a compass. It wasn't pointing towards the north though, more towards the south-east. Promotional thing for an event in the park, maybe?
Deciding it was worth checking out, and that he could put off his homework for a few hours, Souji grabbed a jacket, and headed off, into the wide world beyond his home!
It wasn't long until he was wandering the streets of the province, the device in his hand, trying to follow the signal...

Tatsuya was returning from college with boredom drawn on his face after a tiring day full of classes. Yeah, he loved the career he was studying, but that wasn't as exciting as the adventures he could live in the Digital World, which made him eager to return home and go to the Train Station in order to take the first Trailmon he could to Terminus. He was thinking on going to Whitewater city in order to help rebuilding it, since he was sure the power of a Mega Digimon could be put to good use, albeit his partner wouldn't only do it if they were paid. That was training time they'd be losing, after all.
Next to him, his Dorumon walked in his holosuited form, to whom the Kazan referred to as his "cousin" Blake whenever they met other people. The interactions had been very funny so far, with the creature almost telling them he wasn't a human, with Tatsuya punching him on the shoulder, making him correct his mistake. -Oh my god, who could've thought you actually spend time doing something productive... What the hell, man? I've been wandering around the city for six hours! SIX. FUCKING. HOURS! Next time, I'mma stay at home -the holosuited creature barked, black locks falling over his green eyes.
-I told you to keep watching TV, but no, you insisted that you have to make use of the holosuit... if you wanna hang out, do it on the weekends, jeez. It'll be much better for the two of us, since I don't have to worry about you hitting any humans that bump into you! -the human jokingly stated, earning himself a punch to the shoulder as well. -Heh, very funny. But I can't say you're wrong... -the Digimon was about to keep teasing his Tamer, but stopped on his tracks.
His nose wrinkled two times, and he turned to one of the side streets. -I smell something funny nearby. It's like a newborn's odor, perhaps a Digitama... it's very hard to distinguish between the two -Blake stated, with Tatsuya smiling. -Perhaps things won't get as boring after all... -the human said with a mischievous grin on his lips, and followed his friend towards their new destination.
Then, they took sight of a guy looking at a device that Tatsuya knew very well. It seemed he was looking for something... perhaps that was the newborn's Tamer? With his overly-friendly attitude and typical laid-back gesture, he approached to the stranger, waving with his right hand, the left one in his pocket. -Yo! Lookin' for something? Because I might be able to help you -Tatsuya asked to the much shorter teenager.

Souji had been wandering for a little while, trying to figure out exactly where the device was directing him to. The park? Could be. It wasn't too far, at least, giving him time to investigate, before heading home to eat dinner.
He had been caught off-guard by the approach of two strangers, and almost dropped the device he was reading from. The hell? Where did they come from? People were always doing that. Sneaking up on him. Or maybe he just got too absorbed in reading, or whatever he happened to be doing at the time.
"Oh. Uh," he narrows his eyes a little, then stops, and stands up straight. Rude. "I'm not...sure what I'm looking for. This got delivered to my house, and I'm trying to work out what it's pointing at, or trying to lead me towards," he shows the screen of the Digivice.
Souji looks the pair over briefly, before deciding that there's no need to be immediately hostile towards them.
"Any thoughts, or...?"

Tatsuya's expression didn't change when the guy narrowed his gaze in a rude way, despite he had answered his question nonetheless. As soon as he saw the D-3 with the map function activated, he knew that it was a new Tamer, indeed. With a flick of his hand, he pulled out a black version of the same D-3, with Blake smiling with a half-grin. -Yeah, I know what that is. Trust me, that hasn't been delivered to your house on a mistake... is something that's yours, even if you didn't ask for it.
Oh, crap, I forgot. I'm Tatsuya Kazan, and this over here is Blake, my cousin... or that's what I'd say if you were a normal guy, but since you have this thing, there's no reason to keep the secret away from you. This is called a "Digivice", a D-3 to be more precise. It allows you to communicate, and digivolve, your own Digimon partner, along with other functions, like the compass one you have activated.
If you have this, but don't know what it is, it means that you haven't met your partner yet... Man, this sounds damn confusing now that I think about it, specially when you don't have previous contact with Digimon. It's been too long since I met a new Tamer, so sorry, my explaining skills are a little dusty -he said with a friendly smile.
-I've smelled a newborn not far away from here... or maybe its egg. By the way, I'm not a human, this is just a disguise. You'll see soon enough, once you find your partner, that is. Either way, you should hurry... if he gets seen, or anyone else finds it, there's going to be trouble -the Dorumon said with a serious gesture, still unsure about the unknown person. The previous look had been menacing, but he was no weakling anymore, so there was no need to worry.
-Well, I'm sure you've only grasped a little of everything I said, so why don't we go with you and explain along the way? Otherwise you're gonna be pretty lost once you find your partner... -Tatsuya said, offering his hand for a shake. -What do you say?

Souji just stared at them as they talked, trying to comprehend these strange new words. Digimon? Digivolve? Digivice? Someone liked the word 'Digi'. That, at least, he was sure of. Partners, and Tamers, and...wait, did that guy just say he wasn't human?
Souji leaned closer, only for the briefest moment, as though expecting tentacles to erupt from 'Blake's' face. Still...despite how stupid everything they're saying sounded...it felt right. Not that he usually put much stock in 'feelings' over logic, but. Yeah. There's definitely some kind of reaction, to whatever nonsense this older guy is saying.
"I have...no idea what you're talking about. You're welcome to come along, though. And you seem to know more about what's going on than I do, so. Knowledge is power, after all, and all that,"
He...didn't quite muster a smile, but at least it wasn't not a cold stare, or a scowl. Progress! His mother would've been so proud.
"I'm...Souji Ikeda," he sounded a little awkward, saying that, as though he didn't quite want to give his name, "Nice to meet you. I think."
With that, he started walking again, following the arrow on the screen.

A training session in Ryouta's house, that's the only thing he would said to his sister later... and that's not a lie at all. After the last thieving incident in the mall, he resolved that he have to be fitter... and... well, the only person he know who can train him to such height is Ryouta... and plus, he have a personal training room anyway! The dark brown haired boy still sweating slightly from all the training, but regardless, he's happy after a little workout. His cellphone beeped, telling him that an e-mail has came... but at the same time, his device followed with a trilling sound of its own.
"....Huh... what is it now?"
Kenji watches as his D-3 shows two dots on close proximity to each other while another dot is on the center... the dot on the center must be him... but the other two? He's not so sure, but he decided to approach the peoples... maybe they have a little idea what is this device about... or maybe a reason why his egg haven't hatched.
"...Uh, sorry... um... may I bother you guys a bit? If I'm wrong, I'll just leave, really..."
The teen raised his black bodied and red-gripped D-3 for them to see. "...Did you guys happened to know what is this about...?"

The other human didn't seem to understand anything Tatsuya had said, but that was something that could easily be expected from a new Tamer. The older male hadn't understood anything when he had been explained the basics as well, so he just grinned as the other teen shook his hand. -I know you have no idea, but trust me, you'll know soon enough... as of now, let's get going, okay? It's nice to meet you too as well -the boy said, and they were about to start walking when another male approached them
As he approached both Souji and Tatsuya, he showed them another Digivice, bathed in different colours than the other two teens. Blake sighed, and the Kazan just rose an eyebrow. -Hm... another new one, huh? It seems we've gotten lucky, Dorumon -he said, forgetting to call his partner by his nickname, since he only did it when he was holosuited, and that wasn't frequent at all.
Either way, the boy looked at the newcomer with an amused gaze, and pulled out his own D-3 as well. -Yeah, I know what that is... I was trying to explain it to Souji here, but it's very difficult to understand it... that, or I suck at being a teacher, which is the most reasonable option. We were gonna go to check for this guy's Digitama... wanna come? If you've got a Digivice, that means your partner should be awaiting for you very soon. Who knows, perhaps you'll meet them at the same time!
Dorumon then started walking again. -Well, ladies, if you're done talking, let's get down to business -the pricky Digimon said, heading towards their next destination. -Geez, pal, always so jumpy. Take it easy and relax! It's not like we have anything important to do, right? -Tatsuya retorted, but walked nonetheless.

Souji listens, again, with a sort of...detached intrigue. He waits until the older teen has finished speaking, and the other boy in turn. Three people all with the same gizmo? Interesting. He's still not a hundred percent sure what a Digitama is, or if it's infectious, but...worth checking out.
Dorumon, huh? Helluva name. Better not comment on it. The kid sounds passive-aggressive enough as it is. Hm.
He takes a turn into the park, and continues following the arrow, remaining silent. No real need to talk for the moment, after all. Oh. That's weird. The little arrow turned into a circle in the middle of the screen. He shows the other two.
"So. Uh. Any ideas?"
He doesn't see the red and gray egg in the tree branches high above them, nor does he hear the very, very faint sounds of it rocking back and forth, as though something inside were moving...

"...What the heck is with him?" Kenji muttered, scratching his head, looking not amused by how the strange human acted... or humon? One thing for sure is he doesn't feel 100% human for some reason... too many differences here and there. "...Whatever it is, I'm already with my egg, the problem is it won't hatch and I already tried so many methods... it just won't come out," the brown haired boy explained. "So I thought maybe I can get an idea why the heck it won't open up..."
Well, since none of them introduced themselves, he guess he's content with being silent for now... He would only introduce himself if it's needed... if they introduce themselves, that be. The brown haired boy unconsciously fiddling with the necklace he got from his sister, a reminiscent of his brother's.
Then, the white haired boy stopped. Kenji blinked and he asked what they think about it... So basically they're in the same spot? Kenji pointed down.... then up, like saying that it's either underground... or above them.

Tatsuya laughed when the newcomer asked what the hell was up with his partner. -Nah, don't mind him. He's actually like that with everyone he meets, until you get to know him better. Because you're the most idiotic partner out there, right? -he asked out loud to his Digimon, to which Blake let out a sarcastic chuckle. -And you're the stupidest Tamer around, but you already knew that! -the holosuited Dorumon said, to which Tatsuya smirked, looking at Kenji.
-See? Told ya! So don't mind him and it'll be fine... oh, by the way, I almost forgot! Name's Tatsuya, Tatsuya Kazan... oh, damn, I forgot to say the surname first! Just call me Tatsuya, 'kay? It'll be easier for the both of us that way -he said, scratching the back of his head. He was surprised to hear that he had already gotten his Digitama, but was incapable of making it open... why was that?
-Now that's something new for me... most of the times I've helped a rookie, them touching the egg was the only thing needed to make it hatch. It was like that with my Dorumon as well... and he bit me the moment he hatched. Ah, the memories... but I'm digressing. Good things are worth waiting for, so perhaps the only thing you need it's to hold tight to it until your Digimon gets out of it! I'm very impatient myself, so I guess I was lucky that it hatched so fast -he explained, and continued walking.
As both Dorumon and Souji stopped, Tatsuya looked around. -Now then, it should be around here... -he began, with the holosuited Dorumon facing them again, and rising its head a little, smelling the air. He'd definitely look like wierd to any other human, but he was a Digimon. He was used to use his sense of smell, after all, and didn't plan on stopping at that point. After a few seconds, the green-eyed human tilted his head to a nearby tree.
-There. That's where it is... can you see it? -he said, pointing at it with his finger so Souji would get a better reference.

"Oh, right. Names. Sorry. I was...distracted. Souji," he introduces himself, inclining his head.
As far as he can see, these 'Digimon' are...humans that hatch from eggs? That bite people? That doesn't sound particularly pleasant, as much as he'd enjoy having his own pet human to clean his dishes and carry his things. Although...if this 'Dorumon' is anything to go by, that may not be their primary purpose...maybe they're just there to lightly insult everything around them?
"Where? Oh," He walks over to the indicated tree, and pushes on it, testing how strong it is. Apparently strong enough that he can't move it an inch. He drops his backpack on the ground next to the three, and starts climbing, slowly. He's not particularly graceful, and almost falls off more than once on his journey upwards.
Eventually, the teen reaches the correct segment of tree, and stretches out with an arm, trying to snag the egg from where it was sitting precariously, teetering back and forth. With a swift motion, he snags his prize, but simultaneously loses his balance, and falls.
Well, perhaps 'grinds' would be a better way to describe what happens. He slides down about half the tree, then loses his balance even more, and falls onto his back next to the tree, egg nestled safely in his arms.
"Well..." he seems to be a little winded, if nothing else, "that was...dignified,"

And so the much taller guy explained to him that it's normal for his partner to act like a prick. They even mocks each other, which made the brown haired boy scratched his head. Honestly, he's not sure what to think about it, but since he only met some peoples with Digimon, he guessed that maybe most of them would be quite... humanlike... personality wise, that be.
"...Tried everything, actually... from staying with it all day on my weekend, so much that my sister thought I'm having bad fever... tried rubbing, talking to it... nothing. Almost like he's challenging me to break his egg like breaking egg for scrambled egg or something..."
Also, the other guy seem tried hard to get his egg after locating it.... To be honest, his attempt is applaudable, although the thing is... he's sort of worried that the guy might fell off the tree and it turned into some silly case of death... Wait, why is he thinking this morbidly?
"Care---"
Too late. He grinded down the tree after catching his eggs. Kenji winced at that display and scratched his head.
"...Not so smooth, but at least you're... quite alright? I was about to offer you a help, but you seem too excited... eh? Wait a sec... why do you have two eggs instead of one? Does one of it belongs to other person?"
He scratched his head yet again before suddenly noticing that he haven't introduced himself.
"Oh, right, name... Itou Kenji, nice to meet you guys."
Only right now that the similarity between brothers can be so clear.

Tatsuya smiled and cheered for Souji as he climbed the tree to get his Digitama. -C'mon, man! Just a little bit higher! -he said in a friendly way, although his grin would quickly turn to a scowl when he saw his new acquaintance falling from the tree, crashing onto the ground. He quickly approached, concerned by his wellfare. -Hey, you okay? The climbing part was not too shabby, but we'll have to work in your landing... wait a minute... -he said, crouching. There was one, and then... two?
The dark-brown haired teen gaped for a split second, then scratched the back of his head in confusion. What? Two Digitamas...? Would the other one belong to another person? As if reading his mind, his partner would be quick to answer to that thought. -No, they both share the same smell. If it was different, I would've told you by now... but what does this mean? -the holosuited Dorumon muttered, also stranged about the situation. -That's what I'd like to know... -Tatsuya muttered, tilting his head to the Ikeda. -Well, lucky you! Not one, but two Digieggs... although I'm not even sure why there's another one here, since this guy over here has his already. Wait, what was your name again? -the indigo-eyed teen asked, not realizing that he'd regret the question a second later.
-Oh, right, name... Itou Kenji, nice to meet you guys -the boy said, making a shiver run down the half-japanese's spine. Wait, wait, wait... This guy definitely looked like Yuuki, and his surname was also Itou, so that could only mean... -Kenji... won't you happen to have any brother named Yuuki, right? -Tatsuya questioned in a voice that revealed a little note of sadness.
Dorumon also gawked, emitting a surprised sound, but regained his composture the second after. They were having the worst of the lucks, that was for sure...

"Yeah, I'm okay," he awkwardly gets back to his feet, trying to avoid dropping the eggs in the proccess. They're shaking quite noticably in his arms, however.
Souji only half-listens as the other two exchange...pleasantries? Whatever they're doing, something about a brother. Really, he should be paying more attention, but he did just rescue a pair of soccer-ball sized eggs from a tree. Which apparently contain his own 'Digimon', whatever that is.
"Uh, guys, I hate to interrupt..." And he really does. He's not much for talking to strangers, let alone strangers who are already engrossed in a fascinating discussion such as theirs. "But I think these are...well, either hatching, or about to explode and kill us all. Possibly,"
A large crack appears from the top of each egg, traveling straight down the middle. And here Kenji had made it sound so difficult, to hatch these things. Talking to it, rubbing it? No, evidently they'd just been waiting for him. Riiiiight, waiting for him. Now he's starting to get a little too much into this stuff.
"Hm. What should I do?"

"Hm? Oh, you know my Aniki? He's sort of a big grump, so I won't be surprised if he act rather asocial to you or easily snap... Sorry if he does, but he's not used to be like that... It might be too much, but just hold it if he does. He doesn't mean it personally anyway. He's the same to me, always cold and aloof... I guess there's only two person who he's not cold and aloof to... Our sister and his girlfriend.
Still... several weeks ago, his mood improved considerably... he even sort of being back to his childhood personality for a while... Can't say that I'm unhappy... no, I'm happy, but the thing is... One day he suddenly returned back home, drenched and just simply come in without any sort of greeting. His eyes looks... lifeless. Since then, he's gone before anyone notices it, and back home before anyone can greet him. It kind of bothers me... Not helping that he's looking all beaten up sometimes.
So... do you know anything?" the boy asked, like he's desperate and really worried about his brother. No matter what kind of facade he put when talking about his brother, his tone always betrayed his expression. There's a mixture of brotherly love and at the same time, the worries that come with it... however, because he's putting a tough facade of not caring his elder, it sounded weird.
Back to the conversation...
"Well... Rub it?"
