Somewhere in...Neverland? Wait, what? [Kai/Whatever/Open?]

"What? He's...who?" Scout taps his phone against his hand before putting it to his ear again, "Hello? B? He's...like Kai and Kirito's? ...Wait, I have a better question, how're you holding a phone? You don't have thumbs..." There's a pause, "Sorry, sorry! I'm on my way back, hang tight!"
He practically runs all the way back from the Shibuya River to his house, only stopping briefly to avoid crashing into people, or getting hit by cars. At least he has some level of common sense. Within ten minutes, he bursts through the front door of his apartment and vaults over the couch, heading for Takahiro's room...
Less than five minutes later, he sends a text message to Kai, hoping he hasn't suddenly changed his number.
'hey kai. do you have a little time? i need some help from a tamer specifically. - scout'

Scout's message was quite unexpected. What use could anyone have for someone like him? Still, he might as well go see what was up. He shot a text back, 'Sure. Where do you want to meet?' While he waited for a response, he started gathering the things he needed. Shiro was about as excited as he had expected, though Kuro had to be woken up and was not happy about it. "Ooh! I know! I know! Scout's fighting a strong Digimon, and knows he won't win without my help!" Shiro's speculation was about as accurate as he was humble.

Scout replies only a minute or two after Kai sends his response. An address is attached below a hastily typed message, which reads more or less as 'My Place'. At least he offers some brief, mostly-correct directions. That's a big step! Useful data! Good job, Scout.
He seems to live in a fairly nice area. The apartment building is clean, and the hallways seem to have been recently renovated. Unfortunately, Scout is all the way on the top floor, and the elevator's out of order. Maybe this is why he's in such good shape, not his gymnastics training.
Scout has, meanwhile, moved past the freakout, and is waiting patiently. He's not entirely sure what to do here, but BlackAgumon seems confident that the egg isn't about to hatch or whatever, so...at least they have a little time to work it out.

Kai glanced at Scout's message. "Sorry, Shiro. You'll have to get in the bag, too, this time." Shiro groaned, but curled up next to his sister in Kai's bag. Surprisingly, Scout's house wasn't too far from his own. Grabbing his bag, he stepped out. How urgent was Scout's problem? He walked a bit faster. It couldn't hurt to give Shiro less time to pop out, anyways.
As he got closer, he confirmed the address with the one supplied by Scout. "Now remember to be quiet until I tell you otherwise," he warned the white cat in his bag. He didn't want to have to explain the talking cat to Scout's parents. "Okay!" Shiro chirped. It would have to do. Kai stepped up and rang the doorbell.

There's a sniffing sound from the other side of the door, before it swings open. BlackAgumon is standing there. Well, thank Yggdrasil that nobody's walking past... "Kai. Excellent. They're in the second room on the left. Prepare to find the entire situation very amusing,"
The apartment is pretty nicely decorated. Modern glass and chrome furniture, a needlessly huge TV. Someone is speaking mockingly in English, whilst another voice, Scout's, tells the speaker to cut it out in Japanese.
Through the open door of the room, Scout can be seen sitting on the floor. A shorter boy with a similar appearance is sitting on the edge of a bed, a large white and red-striped egg sitting next to him. Wonderful.

Kai was surprised that BlackAgumon was the one answering the door. Scout's parents must not be home. He stepped inside, and, closing the door behind him, let SHiro out of the bag. "Finally! I thought I'd suffocate in there!" He ran ahead of Kai, who followed BlackAgumon to the room. The apartment was... Significantly more well off than his house. His family's lack of wealth struck him more than ever, in times like this.
Yup, that's a Digi-egg. Kai's seen those before. "Hey Scout. And... I haven't met you before. My name's Kai. Nice to meet you," He offered his hand to the boy holding a Digi-egg. "I was going to ask what you wanted from me, but I suppose it has something to do with that Digi-egg?" He asked Scout.

BlackAgumon pads into the room and drops into a sitting position with a grunt. Scout seems to be frowning a little, but his face lights up when he sees Kai, "Kai! Hey, you came! I'm glad," He seems to have been motioning towards the Egg with his D-Scanner, trying to scan the interior.
No luck.
"Mm. It does, but I'll let my little brother explain," He sits back against the dresser and folds his arms.

Takahiro sets the Digitama aside, and shakes Kai's hand, "Takahiro. Nice to meet you, too," He seems less animated than Scout. Maybe someone dropped the latter on his head as a child, or something. He sticks his tongue out at his brother's emphasis on 'little'. Pssh. Only by a couple of years.
"Yeah, I woke up this morning and this egg thing was on the floor in front of my desk," He opens his hand, revealing a D-3 with green grips, "So was this. My dorky brother said you could tell me what's happening, or something," He eyes Shiro warily. He hasn't seen many Digimon before, just Scout as BigAgumon, and BlackAgumon himself, so this is...weird.
Not as weird as the soccer ball-sized egg, mind you.

Kai took Takahiro's hand and returned the handshake. Okay, so he was supposed to explain it? Why couldn't Scout explain it himself? Also, how much did Takahiro already know? "Alright, to start with, how much has Scout told you?" He asked the other boy. Shiro, curious, had jumped up onto the bed and was looking at the Digi-egg. Kuro, on the other hand, was still curled up inside Kai's bag.

"Mm. I told him that the Digital World exists. And I showed Taka and my parents my Spirit Digivolution as soon as I got my D-Scanner. He's met BlackAgumon too, but, uh...am I forgetting anything?" He blinks, looking at BlackAgumon first, and then at Takahiro.
He gives Kai a gentle nudge on the leg, "Find yourself a seat somewhere, Kai!" All things considered, he prefers the look of those D-3 things...but then, they're not as bulky as the D-Scanner. Probably not as durable. This damned thing's been dropped on cave floors, down stairs, and almost dropped in magma. It's a tough little machine.

"That's uh, pretty much it, I guess, yeah," Takahiro nods, slowly, as he tries to think about anything else, "He said you have one of these things, too," He holds up the D-3. The screen of said D-3 is filled with what looks like a loading icon. How adorable.
"Why is all this happening? Why'd it show up in my room?" He has far too many questions, and zero answers. Not that he minds the idea of getting into Digimon stuff like his brother, but...well. He wants to make an informed decision.

"Ah, right." Kai glanced around, and pulled up a chair. "Yeah, I have one too," He drew out his black and white counterpart to Takahiro's device. "I can't tell you what this means, any more than I can say why it happened to me, or to Scout. What I can tell you, however, is what you can expect."
"When that egg hatches, it will be into a baby Digimon, in the first phase of its life. That phase is known as Fresh. From there, they will grow to the In-training stage. If you've seen BlackAgumon as BlackKoromon, that's what that is. BlackAgumon himself is in the Rookie Stage, like my partners, Kuro and Shiro," He waved towards Shiro, and Kuro poked her head out of his bag as well. "After that, they Digivolve to the champion stage, and from there, to Ultimate. Do you follow, this far?"

Scout seems to only be half-listening, making the assumption that Kai's got this one. He turns his D-Scanner over in his hands, and moves the Spirit icons across the screen by touching the controls. BigAgumon. FlaWizarmon. Agunimon. And the other one.
When they'd last gone into the Digital World, he and Kai ended up snagging two fire spirits. After all that crazy 'Cross Evolution' nonsense. He'd played around a little with Agunimon, but there was something about the other one that put him off. It felt wrong to even look at. A spiked dinosaur skull.
It shouldn't be as intimidating as it is, but...
Hm.

"Mm. Okay. Like levels of power," Takahiro nods, slowly. He's pretty sure he understands, "How long do they stay in each stage? Like, BlackAgumon changes back and forth every day when he's not in the house," Less and less, now that his parents are used to BlackAgumon. Heck, they even set a place for him at dinner.
"And how long is it gonna take for this egg to hatch?" He wants to see what's inside, so he can figure out exactly what it is he's dealing with. If it's a gigantic dragon, it could require some...changes in his day-to-day routine.

Questions, which he didn't know the answer to. How frustrating. "Sorry, but as far as I know, that can vary wildly. Kuro and Shiro have stayed in this form since they Digivolved. BlackAgumon, on the other hand, seems to shift between forms as he pleases. I will say, however, that I haven't met a Digimon who could sustain a form higher than Rookie for more than a few hours." This was a question he wanted to answer, but he could only say what he knew. Digimon seemed to be wildly inconsistent on this matter.
Another question he didn't have an answer to. "Sorry, I can't help you there. These two were already hatched and had evolved to In-Training when I met them. My only other experience with eggs, well, one of them hatched as I arrived, and the other one hasn't hatched yet as far as I know. I doubt it will take long, though. Sorry, I came to help, but I guess I don't really know enough to be of use.
