Crunch.
He took a bite of supple, organic flesh from the apple with gnashing, ugly teeth, tearing it to little white juicy shreds in his mouth. Before he had even finished biting, he tore into it again with reckless abandon, ripping skin and tearing vegetarian viscera away in a spray of what would have been the freshest apple juice he had come into contact with in a long time. A third chomp before the second and the third were even finished, his colossal mouth ripping into it like a wolf did a carcass, as if time was running out; but the way he flicked his wrist callously and shrugged as he ate it suggested that his body was just always this aggressive with everything it did; that this was just a sort of typical aggression, a routine kind of outward bitterness and hatred, the way he just seemed to not give a flying fuck as he shredded through everything in his path. After a fourth bite, he cast the apple away over his shoulder, where it fell onto the ledge of the canyon, rolled off, and bounced down from orange rock to orange rock til it found itself turned to a splatter of fruity digital mush four hundred or so feet below in the largest, widest, deepest canyon basin in all the Valley.
"And that's lunch," Daichi Kumo said, dusting off his hands and moving from the spear-like rock at the head of the tallest point of this side of the canyon, turning around to look up to his comrade, dark and draconian, standing there with a solid red gaze and a tapered crimson claw. "Guess we'd better take over the world or some shit, now, right?" The Devidramon inclined its head, before shaking it in some figment of exasperation as his mammoth Tamer clambered up the side of his partner, and pulled his body around to straddle the demon dragon's broad, dark, reptilian soldiers. The spindly growth on the end of is tail slammed against the ground, releasing a small tremor, like the wagging of a dog's tail.
"Guess so." His voice, a low, unsympathetic growl, resonated through the air it seemed to slice through, like the edge of a jagged knife shearing a rough, hacked pattern through tender flesh. "Shall we?" Daichi grabbed onto the small, makeshift rope harness of sorts he had engineered around Barrigan's chest in this form to allow him to hold on. It had taken a couple of tries, and would probably be dead weight on reversion, but, ultimately, better than nothing.
"We shall," The boxer snarled, and with a whoosh of air and a wave of dust pushing outwards, the Devidramon began to hover upwards with every vibrating wingbeat Daichi felt wracking his body, powerful enough to destroy him with a single strike; and yet that only motivated him further. "ATTENTION DENIZENS OF THE VALLEY OF DRAGONS!" He roared at the top of his ugly, adrenaline-driven, forced, coarse voice, somehow still audible over the beating wings of his partner, soaring higher up into the sky above the basins. "THIS AREA NOW BELONGS TO HAKAINUSHI!" A grin carved itself into the flesh of his face. They were the advance party. The chaos was coming later, in two parts - one here, when the rest of the conquest party rocked up, and then... well, elsewhere. A little distraction they'd planned for his affairs. The Cliffs had been a real stroke of luck; it was far enough from Terminus that no DATS fucks showed up looking to get another notch on their epaulettes.
Barrigan picked up the screaming as he took to new heights, starting to swoop in circles, higher than any of the mammoth dragons still, but commanding a darker and stronger presence than most that stood, perched, or flew there below. "IF YOU ARE STRONG, YOU MAY JOIN US, OR TRY TO FIGHT US," He unleashed a shrill, abominable roar. "YOU HAVE YOUR WARNINGS, TRY THE LATTER AND YOU WILL DIE!" A small wreath of crimson hellfire spurted out from both nostrils. "IF YOU ARE WEAK, YOU MAY STAY, OR YOU MAY LEAVE, BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, KNOW..." A nose-dive, and they pulled back down to another section of the basin, edging on grandiose, almost now six hundred feet down further in. North side. A crowd was amassing below them. Thousands of beating wings in an ugly display of pseudo-synergy. Silence across the skies. No cries, no roars, no screams. They were all waiting. And watching. They remembered the Hakainushi. They remembered their former tyrant, the Russian. They remembered his power.
And, now, the organisation had more than they had ever had before.
"...THE VALLEY OF DRAGONS IS OURS!" The Devidramon bellowed at the top of his lungs, following it up by breathing another, longer lance of red fire, shearing through the oxygen as he unhinged his jaw and let the plumes of bursting flame take to the air, lapping it up as all the thousands of tiny ant-sized spectators, growing into greater black masses below at the minute, reared backwards in unison and fear. Only Champion level with just a dream and a name; Daichi's brow furrowed and grin widened wickedly as he just imagined what they would be able to do soon...

Oh, they would be able to do a lot soon, but only with the help of another lieutenant. The Empress' support would be integral to this mission. After all, she had already secured an area of her own.
The Cliffs of Chaos had a new ruler, though Akari had forgotten much of the takeover. She couldn't explain recent events, for she was beginning to lose her memory quite often. At times her and Zeromon seemed far apart when she reached their Super Mega form, and she couldn't figure out why. Truth be told, Iscarimon's influence had begun to take a much greater hold on the duo, forcing their individual personalities into hibernation as he conducted his business. It was still a mystery in terms of how he functioned, however his goals were aligned with those of the Hakainushi, so it was presumed that little would come of it. At least for now.
Travelling with Infinimon in this mission, she arrived in the valley shortly after her comrade. Daichi was already making himself at home: the locals fled in droves as Barrigan circled them like a hungry vulture. The area was very much in a state of disarray. Hopefully this takeover would be as effortless as the last. With Daichi's power unknown to Akari, she knew she would have to keep a close watch. She wasn't about to let the Hakainushi get embarrassed on their own lands. Now that would spell disaster. When it came to being a bad guy, reputation was everything. Akari knew that one didn't have to get that far to make an impression. Everyone still remembered her as the one who destroyed Rustport. Other parties had been excused. Not her. Not Zeromon. They were enemies of the Digital World. Keeping that mantle would prove difficult...unless they asserted themselves. She would make sure that happened.
"The Empress is here, welcoming her companion to his new home. Please obey him. You don't want to know what happens if you don't!" she announced. She spread her arms, allowing everyone to see her. She wanted to be noticed. Infinimon, stationed cautiously by her side, drew his immense sword, prepared to do battle whenever it came. "The area is secure, Daichi."
Just who was stupid enough to intervene against this team? No one, for Akari's mercenaries were just a few short kilometres away.

“Huh, I expected this place to be a bit hotter.”
It was weird coming from his mouth, but it was true. While traveling, some digimon told him that the west was hot, almost unbearably so. Considering he was a dragon type digimon and part plant, he half expected to wither out there, so he never gave it a shot until today. The eastern dragon soared through the flatlands and arrived a few hours ago, and the heat was quite literally nothing. After the cold that was the Terabyte Mountains, he was wondering if the heat was going to be a problem if he kept exposing himself to it. Any well fed plant usually melted under constant heat. Maybe since he was a dragon, withering was essentially impossible?
Regardless, Zephyr had been bathing in the sun, body splayed out across the rocks and soaking in the rays. The best part about this place was that the constant source of solar energy. He basically had an infinite amount in this location. Again, he found another benefit of this body. That green gem he held over his neck shone a bright green, the dragon’s eyes closed with a smile on his face. Ahh, this was the life. The eastern dragon let out a loud yawn, getting up and stretching a bit. He plucked a berry from his mane and chewed on it.
“Hmm, that’s more moist then I was expecting.” He blinked as he polished off the berry like nothing and soon made his way toward eating a second.
“Run, they’re here!”
The green scaled and furred dragon blinked as his ears picked up words of distress.
A few small dragon digimon had been fleeing in the opposite direction. The Valley of Dragons had a few small settlements, but it seemed that everyone was high tailing it out of the area. Perched on a cliff, Zephyr made his way down, stopping a Koromon that had been hopping most of the way out of the area. He ignored his cries to let him go, simply holding him up face to face.
“Pipsqueak, what’s going on?”
“T-they’re taking over the Valley!” he cried, squirming in the eastern’s hands.
Again with the ‘they’. Who were ‘they’? The dragon scowled and attempted to ask another question, but the Koromon had slipped from his grip and fled in a hopping frenzy. Zephyr tried to ask the other feeling inhabitants, but he only got the same answer. Zephyr sighed in annoyance as he twirled a whisker in a paw. He didn’t want to go see what the problem was, it really wasn’t his business. But they did disturb him from his sun bathing, and he was having such a nice time as well. Maybe just poking in and checking out wouldn’t be too bad.
The dragon merely floated above the locals, heading toward the area at a slow pace. When he arrived, Zephyr was greeted with the image of the so called “Valley invaders.” A Devidramon circled the skies like a vulture looking for prey while roaring incessantly. Another voice soon picked up as well, though it wasn’t of the demonic dragon’s. It sounded almost…human.
That explained it. A human or two seemed to be too big for their britches and wanted to claim an area for their own. Well, considering how half of the residents had left, it seemed they were doing a good job of it. It was just an Adult, why were they so scared? Zephyr got his next answer as he saw someone else stroll into the scene. The garbs were new, but the face wasn’t.
It was that stupid blonde from the Sea of Blood. Zephyr snorted, and then took his eyes over to her partner. That form was new to him. A knight clad in white armor wielding a sword just as large as him, parading around and taking over areas with a human dressed in black. If there was a picture for the word irony, they were it. The power coming from that knight explained at least why at least some people were running. That thing was incredibly powerful, he doubted any of the current residents could tackle it in a fight and actually win.
Except him.
Zephyr was most likely the only one powerful enough in the Valley to try and take them on. The question of the day was, did he fight back, or did he sit back and watch everything unfold? He was half tempted to give his fighting skills a shot, but he wasn’t that stupid. He was outnumbered and didn’t feel up to par with his fighting skills. Maybe he could see what was up and decide to stay from there on in.
“Yeah, that can work. But before that, I should bring some insurance…”
The small plant dragon muttered to himself and nodded. With a quick, focused breath, a light began to engulf the dragon. His body type changed to a humanoid like figure, almost like a tank of muscle, fur and scales lining that immense bulk. His whiskers shortened slightly, his mane separating from his tail fur as his body changed. His height increased as well, making him slightly a giant. The light soon died, a large, humanoid dragon taking Zephyr’s place, decked out in nothing but a pair of jeans and armor, a large vine wrapped around both wrists and meeting at his back the large dragon man’s evolution was done. Despite the muscles packed onto his body, he was incredibly nimble and quick on his paws. His legs flexed and tensed before relaxing as Zephyr took flight over to the area near the blonde and her knight, landing right in front of them with a dull thud.
Zephyr grinned, the Perfect level even sharing a wave as well.“Well well, if it isn’t the weird blonde and her stoic friend. Didn’t think I’d see you first. Maybe the other one and her stupid rabbit. You and the other one up there have gotten a bit big for your britches there, huh?” Zephyr crossed his arms over his chest, looking up at the circling Devidramon.
He was fully expecting the girl to be confused as to who the hell he was, that was the fun part. He could act slightly comfortable since he wasn’t out to attack them. “Now, I’m curious. Why are two humans trying to take over Digital World turf, this valley no less? Not much is here."

"The area is secure, Daichi."
For now that was true. For now. Upon the back of the beast the boxer snarled; they were four strong, the dragon, the warrior, the seductress, and the knight. Akari had some more troops incoming from the other side of the Valley; before long the canyon, and its enfeebled, fearing denizens would be surrounded on all sides by the totalitarian iron fist of the Hakainushi. "For now." He spoke with a low snarl and a gentle inclination of his head, reaffirming it a third, silent time in his mind. Secure. For now.
It was almost as if the repetition had been foreboding in some capacity; for within a moment's notice, just after the Devidramon had landed alongside Akari, there stood another; draconian in a sense. Strong; that much was obvious, even to Daichi, who saw how tall he stood, how tightly that thorned vine, ready to lash out like a whip or chain, was coiled around his arms. Part dragon; part plant. Half denizen of this Valley; half traveler of the worlds elsewhere. “Now, I’m curious. Why are two humans trying to take over Digital World turf, this valley no less? Not much is here."
"How about," Daichi took the initiative, loosening his grasp of Barrigan's "rein" as he shook himself from it, vaulting with a single mighty push off of the scaled black torso of the grand demon-dragon, who snapped at the floral serpent defensively. "'It's none of your fucking business'?" The boxer shrugged, holding up his hands to either side and locking eyes with the titanic dragon. For a human, the boxer was colossal; even now, the dragon towered over him, at least double his size, on hind legs, with thick, green-ish fur. "That give you a rough answer?" Hopefully it would, otherwise he and the Devidramon behind him were going to have to intervene.
It was astonishing, really; Daichi had been in the Digital World for just under a month, now, and he had learnt so much, yet so little about Digimon. He knew, in some capacity, just how strong this seemingly calm plant dragon was, in all its power and majesty, almost more fitting a tower than he. The sole fact that most were in such insatiable, inexplicable awe from concerning the Japanese colossus of humble flesh and bone was his sheer, grit-toothed tenacity in the face of what would have seemed, to most, insurmountable odds.
Earlier, he was just another hungover variable in this world-sized equation; now, thanks to his sister's explanation and a few weeks of on-the-fly field experience, he recognised openly that if this creature recoiled, opened his mouth, and snapped at him any sort of attack he could muster, if one or two landed, he was dead - as a doornail. That was the difference between him and the common idiot; he recognised that he was here able to do little to no damage to this monstrous beast, and that if he went up against him, mano-a-mano, he'd probably die. He just didn't care.
"You're up here for a reason, big guy," Barrigan was remaining surprisingly silent as his partner approached with a sort of haughty swagger only his signature combination of egotism and idiocy could bring in this particular situation. "Either you wanna make a statement about us taking this shitpile over, or you wanna lend a hand." Daichi shrugged, producing as he dove into his pocket a handful containing his current Marlboro pack and lighter, flicking it open with his thumb, propping one cigarette between his lips, lighting up, and putting all the gear away in a single set of fluid motions which took only moments. Hissing out the first drag, he looked back up at the big fucker. "Before you do the first, we can put an end to your pathetic shit before you so much as get your ass ready to say another word."
Maybe that was less the case with Devidramon; but from personal experience, he knew the strength that the Zeromon line possessed, and the sheer fact that he was, to counter Akari's coy and sly ways, the very avatar or perseverance and determination. "And if you want the second, then I'm afraid," Daichi paused to take a long drag, savouring the thick smoke between his teeth. "I'm gonna ask you for a fight anyway." Perhaps without the inclusion of Infinitimon. Y'know, keep things... "fair". "So, you've got..." The boxer checked his watch. Huh. A full... "...fifty, before the big fuck back there and I start beating you into the ground no matter what." Those were the creature's fifty seconds to do with as he pleased.
"I'm Daichi, this is Barrigan," Daichi jerked a thumb over his shoulder to the Devidramon, who shook his head and rose a claw. The meathead was showing them up. Again. "And now you've only got forty-five, so if you're gonna leave, I suggest you do it real fucking quick."

"Do I know you?" Akari asked, tilting her head. Just who was this dragon Digimon? She had never laid eyes on him before. More importantly, she had never laid eyes on his species. This Digimon was new to her in the purest sense. She didn't have the faintest idea as to why he would recognize her like they'd met before. Many Digimon were acquainted with her exploits. However, few of them had made any actual contact with her. Zephyr's attitude indicated that they had met formally. On which occasion, she did not know. What did surprise her, though, was that he knew about Ami and Valeria. Could it have been at the Sea of Blood? Could-
"You sound like the dog" Infinimon interrupted. Unlike Akari, he had a much keener sense for other Digimon. Using his scanners, he determined a familiar pattern. Something was off about his data. It was...jumbled? He wasn't sure how to put it. Perhaps that was the wrong word. Rearranged - now that seemed more likely. There was a very slight chance this Digimon was related to Zephyr, the Gaomon. "In any case, it would be wise for you to flee. We don't have to discuss these matters with you. I think you already know how my other comrades feel about it" the knight went on. He drew his weapon, pointing it threateningly at Zephyr's neck. If the dragon didn't watch himself, he would find himself embroiled in a battle that he couldn't win.
Akari turned to Infinimon and raised her eyebrows. Well, if everyone was was gung ho, she was too. Daichi certainly wasn't messing around. He wanted his castle and he wanted it now.

Well now.
This human was either incredibly courageous, or incredibly stupid. Zephyr was willing to bet on both. The draconian digimon had figured it was due to the girl and her knight partner being present. In another situation, maybe he would have been cautious, or avoided a fight outright. But considering the swagger he possessed along with his foul mouth told him otherwise. Regardless, he was aiming for a fight without caring for his answer. In a way, it kind of reminded Zephyr of himself. Itching for a fight at any time, willing to use any excuse to raise his fists and smash someone’s face in.
“Ahh, the good old days.”. He thought to himself. He glanced at the Devidramon, his mouth contorted into a snarl. Judging from his response, he had maybe forty seconds? More than enough time to get some words in. Zephyr started mentally counting down. He wasn’t looking for a fight, but if he was itching for one, the eastern was more than happy to put some smug human in his place and maybe clip that beast’s wings.
For now, he had to focus on the girl and the armor clad mega. As expected, she had the most bewildered look on her face. Zephyr had been meaning to drag the game of ‘who am I’ for a bit longer, but it seemed that her partner wasn’t in for any games while they were here. “Spoilsport.” He gave an overly dramatic pout as he looked over in Infinimon’s direction. “But yeah, it’s me, and not at the same time. Still wanting to figure stuff out.” He smiled, twirling a whisker in one of his fingers. Even after the answer, the knight gave the same canned response as the human –Daichi- did, except with a bit more of an influence.
Zephyr was not an idiot, that much was sure. When a mega pointed a sword at his neck, it was pretty obvious he should heed his words. But something wanted him to stick around. And besides, he had about thirty seconds anyways. It wasn’t a lot of thinking time he was given. For now, he’d humor himself and continue this little act. He gave an earnest smile, planting a finger on the blunt of Infinimon’s sword and attempted to push it down away from his neck. Whether or not it was successful, he simply took a step back. Twenty seconds.
“Well, yeah, I do. I know better than to bother you two. Bit out of my league. But how about this?” The large dragon digimon stretched his arms and rolled his shoulders, giving an overdramatic flex and bounce of his muscles. As silly as it was, he actually loved doing that type of thing. One that remained through this change was that Zephyr was incredibly narcissistic, and with a body like that, who could blame him?
“Your friend over there seems to be itching for a fight like a kid on a sugar rush wants more candy. How about I humor him for a bit, no strings attached? I think you’ve run out of anyone willing to fight seeing as I saw most of the Valley leave, so there’s little resistance and you still get your place, maybe with an extra member of your little group if you're willing. Bound to be bored, and with a knucklehead like that, I’d probably go crazy.” Zephyr directed his gaze over to the Daichi and the Devidramon, even giving them a small wave.
“I’d talk more, but judging from…Daichi, was it? I think I’m out of time, so with that…” The dragon raised his arms, the vines expanding in size and soon thickening to form a pair of rapiers. Zephyr clanged them together, pointing one at the Devidramon, the other at his side. In the blink of an eye, that vine extended and attempted to wrap around both of the demon dragon’s legs and give one good tug while taking himself into the air.
“Oh yeah…Akari? Mind not interfering? This won’t take long, and I don’t feel like dying again, thank you.”
