Wrong Train? Wrong World?! [OPEN]

Oh dear... Colin had probably messed up big time here. This is probably what happened when he ran around train stations without paying attention.
It was a Saturday morning, and the 13 year old had finally got permission from his family to head out into the hustle and bustle of Tokyo by himself. He had worked hard to get this level of trust with them, and now he had probably blown it.
All it had taken was running through Shibuya train station in a frantic attempt to catch the train that was meant to take him to Nakano, and he had ended up on this one that took him to a strange place he never knew existed. Colin had been terrified for the half hour he spent on it, seeing all sorts of strange illusions and phenomenae outside the window. There were a few others on the train too, but Colin was too terrified to ask them where this was going.
Eventually, the train pulled into a station. Colin looked up at the platform sign boards, but all of them simply read "Terminus". Finally, the train came to a stop.
People rose from their seats to disembark. Colin did the same, slowly. He hoped he might find someone helpful on the station who hopefully might be able to direct him back to Shibuya.
Dressed in a blue t-shirt with a grey jacket, wearing a pair of brown cargo pants, and wearing his top-market running shoes, Colin stepped off the train onto the platform. He looked around and saw not only other people but... creatures. Not just any creatures, some looked like small walking dinosaurs, others looked like giant insects. Just what was this place?
"Oho! Look at this, Bellamy! Here's a human!"
Colin gasped as something suddenly landed on his head. He felt something latch around his shoulder. Giving a yelp of shock, he instinctively reached up to take the object off... and saw that it was a fluffy red furball with big eyes and a grinning mouth. There was a little 'M' on its forehead as well.
"Oh... hello" he said when he realized this thing wasn't a toy, but alive. He looked pretty cute in fact, and seemed harmless.
"Heya" said the fuzzball. "What's your name, human?"
"I'm... Colin" he said. Before he could proceed to ask the fuzzball even more things, a second ball-like individual bounced up toward him on the ground. This one had no tail, and was purple and brown with big green eyes and pointed ears.
"Huh, got yourself a little one eh, Luke?" he asked. Both of their voices were childlike and boisterous. "Well then. Didja just get here, Colin?"
"Yeah..." Colin said, hoping these two might be able to help him out.
"Well then. This is the digital world" said the purple ball. "And my brother and I are digimon. I'm Bellamy and that fluffy guy you're holding is Luke"
"Oh, okay" said Colin, raising an eyebrow. Interesting names there.
"Yep. Luke means "Light" and Bellamy means "Fair Friend" said Luke, proudly. "Those names are awesome yeah?"
"I... think they are kind of, yeah" Colin said, beginning to smile a little. Luke bounced free of his grip and landed on the concrete ground beside his brother.
"Awesome names for awesome digimon" Bellamy said, grinning. "Now then. To business. Going by that fish-outta-water look on your face I suppose you wanna know more about where exactly you ended up, so do you want us to stick around for a bit, Colin?"
"Well, if it's not a problem for you guys, sure" said Colin. This was somewhat of a relief, the moment he got off the train in this strange place, two individuals wanted to help him out so freely.
"Okay! Let's just head over to the refreshment room, and you can buy us some lunch!" said Bellamy, and he and Luke bounced off toward what looked like a cafeteria.
"Huh?" Colin asked, feeling a little swindled, but supposed in the end that it was fair. If these two were helping him out, obviously they'd deserve something in return. So the thirteen year old followed them. Colin looked around as he did so, seeing many other humans and digimon hanging around. What an... interesting place. He hoped he'd be able to find out more information soon.

"I wanna go with you to the Digital World this time! Can we? Can we!? Pretty please?"
As strange as this was, even if Yuu gave absolute freedom to her partner to do whatever she pleased, every now and then, Kyo asked specifically for the two of them to go to the Digital World together. Why, even if she had a lot more freedom by herself? Well, no way for Yuu to know, but she guessed she could oblige to those requests every now and then. At going there seemed to be way more entertaining than this boring Saturday.
Like with many other things, her first gesture towards the question was a shrug.
Alright, alright. Sure. Let's go. Do you have any plans in mind?
"Nope, just to hang out with big sis'!" The digimon answered cheerfully. "So, better if we don't lose more time and just get going? Le~t's go~~!"
Impatient, huh? Alright.
Not even bothering to change out of her school uniform, the teenager just exited her apartment and, in a routine that seemed all but mastered, went towards the Train Station, then boarded the Trailmon, and finally ended up in the Digital World.
In all frankness, Terminus' Train Terminal looked just like always; a mess of people and digimon running around, mostly minding their own business. Just like Yuu and Kyo; well, at least until the Black Plotmon seemed to catch a very particular scent. Like any respected hound that respected herself, she began to ran towards her quarry at an amazing speed, leaving her partner behind until she found what she was looking for.
A cat, of course! Or a red blob that looked like one, rather. She immediately closed the distance between them, and in a quick movement, threw herself towards it.
One would've thought that, as a dog-based digimon, Kyo'd have tried to hurt the poor Wanyamon, but the truth couldn't be so different! She loved to play with them, even if her intent had ample room to be misinterpreted.
Yuu, on her stead, arrived that scene some time later and watched at what could be a huge misunderstanding, so she immediately bowed towards the trio as an apology, all while furiously signing to her partner.
What do you think you're doing!? Stop. Right. Now.
And was promptly ignored due to her partner's focus being elsewhere. Jeez.

"Ack!" was all Luke could say as he was bowled over by the excited BlackPlotmon. The Wanyamon thought he was being attacked at first, but then realized that the rookie level was just playing with him. "Heey! Paws off the merchandise!" he complained.
"Aw look, Lukey's got a play friend" Bellamy said, the Yaamon snickering when he realized his brother wasn't in any danger. Colin meanwhile was quite surprised at first, but had to admit that the sight of the puppy digimon playing with Luke was pretty cute.
He turned around as a girl seemed to be approaching. She bowed in apology. Colin saw that she looked a few years older than him, but still in high school, judging by the uniform that she was wearing.
"Ah, hey, I guess it's fine" Colin said to her. "Is this digimon your friend?" he asked. The boy was still rather overwhelmed by all this, but was gradually learning about the world around him. So far he knew these creatures were digimon, and they seemed to be talking animals, although the difference between Luke, Bellamy and the black puppy was that the puppy seemed to have limbs, while the two brothers just seemed to be bouncing heads.
With that, Colin thought he might be able to ask this girl some questions. "My name's Colin. I just arrived here, and these two were the first digimon that I met" he explained.
Luke meanwhile had struggled free of the puppy's grip. "You won't catch me so easily this time!" he taunted, bouncing as fast as he could around the station plaza.

Saying that Kyo was having lots of fun was probably an understatement; her new friend was amazing! So amazing, in fact, that she had pretty much forgotten the fact that her partner was with her. Speaking of which...
Yuu gazed at the situation somewhat awkwardly, at least glad that the situation was taken in stride. Guess this was time for introductions to begin. So, taking out her always trusty notepad and a pen, she began scribbling rapidly. Not as good as spoken communication, but that'd have to suffice. So, he was a newbie, huh? That was... interesting, to say the least.
Pleased to meet you. Name's Yuu and hers is Kyo; she's my partner. Pleased to meet you! And, sorry for her being this... friendly, I guess. So, this is the first time you are in this place? I can imagine how confusing it can get? Want for me to give you a quickie about it? I guess that's the least I can do after what my partner just did.
Said partner was still engaged into playing with the Wanyamon, giving it chase through the plaza.
"Hey, come back! I'm not finished with you!" The blonde just resisted the urge to facepalm before passing another quickly written note.
Say, maybe a less crowded place would be better? This probably will be a bit long, so you probably want to have a seat, and a a drink, probably. My treat, so don't worry about it.

It took Colin a few moments to figure out why the girl didn't speak a reply. But when he realized that she was writing rapidly on her notepad in response, he deduced that she was mute and couldn't talk. He kept silent about this realization for the moment though, he didn't want to possibly make a social blunder.
He read the words when she had finished. "Hi, Yuu" he said when he finished. "I see. So Kyo's your partner?". That was interesting. So digimon could be partners with humans. Was that why Luke and Bellamy had been so keen on him hanging out with them? Did they need a partner too?
"Yeah, that'd be great if you could tell me a few things about this place" Colin said, appreciatively. "It's a bit unnerving to get on the wrong train and end up in a place like this" he chuckled.
Luke meanwhile was attempting a daring race with Kyo, bouncing through the tables of the refreshment cafeteria and between the legs of idle humans that were standing around. However, his stamina as an in-training was gradually draining, he couldn't keep this speed up forever.
Then Yuu said they should find a quieter spot. Colin nodded. "Yeah, that sounds good. I was about to head over to the refreshment cafe with Luke and Bellamy anyway". He gave a bit of a bashful grin when Yuu said she'd pay. "Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm not sure if I have the right currency for this place". That and his wallet was about as bare as would be expected from a thirteen year old.

Huh, maybe it was Kyo's doing, but Yuu had forgotten to state that she couldn't really talk before giving off the notes. At least Colin seemed to be a smart kid and figured that out by himself. That was good.
Waving amicably at his greeting, she got to writing again.
Yup! She's been my partner for quite some time, actually! Aren't these yours too? Because they look like they are.
Oh, right. He probably didn't know what a partner was. So careless of her part. Anyhow, she promptly nodded to Colin's accepting of her idea and, after looking at the general direction where her partner was, whistled rather strongly.
"Aw, shucks. I wanted to play with the Wanyamon a little more..." For Kyo, that signal was pretty much that they were moving and it meant that she had go back; she had so much fun! "Hey, little guy, aren't you a little tired? You can hop on top of me if you are, no problem at all! By the way, name's Kyo; what's yours?"
Despite him accepting or not, Kyo'd eventually go back to Yuu's side, her mod depending on whether Euclid had accepted being carried around or not. Once she did, and after some gestures on the blonde's part, she began to act as her translator. That'd smooth things out.
"Big sis' says that she'll follow you! Just pick the place and we'll sit there!" She made a small pause, before adding on her own voice. "My favorite one is the one over there, though! The pastries are really good!"
The digimon pointed at a colorful café, its front adorned with all the kinds of pastries they sold. It wasn't really a surprise that a digimon as hyper as her liked sweets so much, but what could she do. Still, both human and digimon were expectant for Colin to lead the way.

Marshal and Coronamon were headed out for another day of investigation. While stepping off the Trailmon, they noticed what seemed to be another brand new Tamer meeting his new partner! Or rather, partners. It seemed that this newbie was a Twin Tamer. Deciding that it'd be ok to have a bit of distraction for the first time in a long time, Marshal walked over to the younger teen.
"Hi!" he waved. "You doing okay over there?"

Colin wondered how to reply to that question. Were these two his partners? He supposed the best thing to do would be to ask.
"What's involved with being a partner?" he asked.
"It means we'll be best buddies forever" said Bellamy, bouncing up into his arms. "Basically we work hard to keep you safe and you use that special human magic power or whatever it is to help us get stronger!"
Oh, that sounded kind of cool. Colin had played a few video games like this. It did sound kind of fun.
"So do you guys... want to be my partners?" he asked Bellamy.
"Eh, sure, if you really want to" said the Yaamon, closing his eyes with a smug look, his little nose in the air. "Of course a human like you wants the badbutt Impster as his partner. You're just lucky you stepped off that train when ya did. Me and my brother hatched only a little while ago. If you waited another ten minutes, there'd be a whole line of humans wanting to be our partner!"
"Er... right" said Colin, sweatdropping. Wow, this Bellamy sure had a big ego. It was cute in a way.
Luke meanwhile stopped hopping when Kyo slowed down and was called back. He was panting a little, geez, hopping around took up more energy than he thought.
"Thanks!" he said, hopping on Kyo's head. "My name's Luke" he answered.
Eventually he was back by Colin and Bellamy's side. The Yaamon grinned down at him.
"Hey Luke, guess who just became our partner?" he said.
"Really?!" Luke was delighted at that. "Thanks, Colin, we won't let ya down, pal"
So then, they were going to head toward the pastry shop. Colin liked the smell of this place too, and the twin digimon that were accompanying him liked the look of it as well. As Colin was making his selection, yet another person with a digimon partner approached.
"Ah, hey" Colin said. "Yeah, I just got here and apparently I've just got some partners, hehe. We're just picking out something for lunch"
Colin was pretty glad that people were being so nice. He saw that the new digimon seemed to be about Kyo's level, what with being an orange lion-like digimon, also with limbs. Colin was somewhat fascinated by how there seemed to be fire coming out of a charm on his forehead as well as his tail. "Hmm... so, just asking, how come your digimon seem like they're bigger than mine?" he asked. "Are they... some sort of evolved form?". He thought that was probably how digimon worked.

Before Yuu could answer to Colin's question, the little Yaamon was already taking into it. While naive, it was a good answer, she had to admit. It also seemed that the two (or three, once Luke came back) were a pretty good match; the teen smiled at the nascent friendship, even despite the digimon's ego.
The nascent partnership made her smile without even realizing it. Well, at least until Kyo came back with Luke on top of her head; The Wanyamon's more genuine words made Yuu's smile even wider.
Now, while on the pastry shop, the group encountered another person, and one the teenager had never seen while at it, even if that wasn't a rare occurrence; not going to the Digital World all that much was bound to have its consequences, after all. He seemed like an interesting person too; a slight bow after, she began to sign for Kyo to translate. It was faster this way, at least compared to passing down notes.
"Oh, right. Big sis' says that we're pleased to meet you! And:.. that yeah, we're fine right now, even though you're free to join as we get something to eat!" She made a quick pause, before addressing her partner again. "I want cake! Can I have cake?"
Sighing, Yuu placed her order as well. She wasn't too hungry, but that didn't seem to be the case with Kyo, so... well, at least the good side was that she didn't need to explain to Colin how evolutions were supposed to work. Her partner was already in it.
"Yup!" She nodded happily. "Digimons change forms, shapes and sizes once they've grown enough, mostly due to a process called 'digivolution'!"
After gazing at both of Colin's partners, she proceeded.
"For example, right now Luke and his brother are on their In-Training stage! They were babies before and when they manage to grow up a little more, they'll reach their rookie stage, just like me! That's something that'd be a little like a digimon's childhood. And that's not all; they can continue to grow and grow the more experience they gain. You'd be surprised at what they can become, but I won't ruin it!"
It was a pretty quick explanation, but it was... good, Yuu guessed. He made some gestured and Kyo began to talk again.
"Oh, right. Big sis' wants to know if you have more specific doubts or if you'd prefer to be given a rundown of this place. She's fine with both, so don't be afraid of asking!

Marshal followed the group to the pastry shop and introduced himself along the way. "My name's Marshal, and this is my partner, Coronamon."
"Nice to meet you," Coronamon said quietly and bowed a little bit.
"It's been a while since I've seen a new Tamer around," Marshal continued. He watched the girl sign some stuff to her Digimon, who translated for her. She had kept the explanations pretty short and sweet, which was good! Some of this stuff could get a little...confusing.

Colin looked at the pastries that were available. All of them looked and smelled quite delicious, but in the end he decided on a savoury sausage roll. That should at least provide a decent snack for himself.
As for Bellamy and Luke, they bounced into Colin's arms so they could have a look too.
"Ooh, can I have that donut?" Luke asked, pointing to a particularly delicious one that was almost dripping with caramel icing.
"And I'll have that tart" Bellamy said, licking his lips as he spotted a very nice looking morsel that apparently was full of chocolate sauce.
"Wow, are you sure that's wise?" Colin asked. "I mean I don't want you two to get sick..."
"Nah, we'll be fine" Bellamy said. "It's all data after all"
Supposing that he had at least warned his partners, he made his orders. While he was waiting, he listened to Kyo explain about digivolution.
"Yep, that's right" Luke said, excitedly. "If you're a good partner to us, we'll get bigger too"
"Oh, awesome" said Colin, enthusiastically. He wondered what they would evolve into, but supposed it was a surprise after all. And it was something the twins seemed to look forward to very much.
The other person in this conversation introduced himself as Marshal and his partner was Coronamon. He said he hadn't seen many new tamers around.
"Really? Huh, if I'm one of the only new ones I must be pretty far behind..." Colin said, giving a bit of a self-depreciative chuckle. "Well... uh" he wondered if there was anything specific he wanted to ask Yuu. Eventually he decided there was just too much to ask. "Well, maybe after a general run-down I might have some more questions?" Colin eventually said. Even though he was currently standing on another world, he just didn't know what to ask first.

Well, now Kyo was busy eating, Yuu had the responsibility to explain to Colin in a way that didn't sound too daunting. Well, at least he seemed to be pretty okay for his first trip. She'd seen people reacting in a way... extreme way after realizing they were in another world.
After thinking for a bit, she began to scribble, promptly passing the first note to the boy.
First of all, don't worry about being far behind, okay? This isn't a competition, and the ways you can act towards this place are plenty; whether you decide to get involved in its affairs or not, that's your decision. Personally, I'm somewhat casual about it, but that's because I've done most of stuff that there's to be done, so this place became... a little boring, in all honesty. But that's my opinion! Yours can be different, and nothing says that this place can become interesting again, anyhow...
I might be wrong, but the Digital World is pretty much a parallel reality that's heavily based off electronics, but not quite. You'll find in here a lot of things that reminisce to our world, but also fundamentally different facts; like, for example, the existence of digimon. Funnily enough, they're this place's normal inhabitants while we, humans, are the invasive species.
What are they? Well, they're mostly living beings, just like us. Well, with the exception that they vary in size, form and power greatly. The main difference is that they have growth cycles and a part of them is a process named "digivolution" in which they change shape, a bit like a caterpillar, if you will. It's rather hard to explain, but I think I can demonstrate.
Fiddling a bit with her digivice, a bright white light enveloped Kyo's body, turning her back into a Tokomon X. She didn't seem to mind and just kept eating.
They can go backwards too. My partner was a Rookie-level a moment ago, and now she went back to In-Training. Oh, right! Before I go on, do you have a digivice? It should look a little like this.
The device was placed on top of the table, for Colin to pick it up and examine it if he wanted to. Explaining how the device worked was probably among her top priorities, given its importance.

Marshal sat down with the fellow Tamers and smiled. It was so nice to see other people after the few months he and Coronamon had spent by themselves. He watched quietly as the mute girl explained everything to the new Tamer, and waited to see if he needed to interject at all. Thankfully, she managed to cover a lot of stuff in a short amount of time.

There was a small period of silence as Yuu wrote an explanation to Colin. He and his digimon ate their meals as they waited. For one thing, Colin found the act of eating in this world seemed... somewhat different. It was subtle enough that he couldn't describe it, but, maybe Bellamy wasn't kidding when he said "it was all just data". Colin hadn't thought too much on that point since there seemed to be few things different to what he was doing on Earth, but now that he was paying attention, there were differences.
When Yuu finished her note, Colin read it with interest. He took the point that this wasn't a competition, and that he should just relax. "I see. Heh, it's a bit easy for me to get into that mindset, I used to be in my school track team" he explained with a bashful grin.
"You make railroad tracks?" Luke asked, curiously.
"No, I... well, participate in races, that sort of thing" Colin said.
"Hmm... I like the sound of that" Bellamy said, an ambitious glint flashing in his green eyes.
Colin read on that digimon were the native species of this world, while humans were of course just visitors. The boy would keep that in mind, he'd try his best to act like a guest around digimon if he could help it then.
Then the explanation of what digimon were? They seemed to be like humans. Colin believed that, as digimon could both communicate and also seemed sentient. Already that made him realize they were not animals but intelligent beings... well... mostly intelligent, given that Bellamy started gnawing on the wooden salt shaker.
"Hey! I'm teething!" he complained when Colin tried to take it away. He gave up that struggle fairly quickly.
Then Yuu demonstrated 'digivolution' by transforming Kyo before their very eyes. Luke watched with interest. Bellamy did too, dropping the salt shaker. And the two digimon saw that she was now a Tokomon-X. Colin was quite intrigued, he didn't know that digimon could evolve both ways.
"Yay, Kyo's our level now~" Luke exclaimed, cheerfully. Then Yuu sent a note asking if he had a digivice.
"Er... I'm not sure" Colin said, feeling his pockets just in case. His wallet and cellphone were there, but also... there was something else. Colin pulled it out. And to his amazement, he was holding in his hand a red and blue digivice.
"Um... yes, I think I do" he said, holding it up. "Although I have no idea how it got there".
Colin looked at Marshal as well. "I take it everyone gets one of these when they enter the digital world?" he asked, his eyes flicking between the two.

Silently snickering at the banter between the trio, Yuu began to think about how she wanted this small explanation to go. Thus far, she had covered the very basics, and was about to explain something a little... more complex.
Kyo, on her stead, seemed to realize she was a Tokomon only after Luke said that she was on the same level than them.
"Oh, I am? Neat! That means I can munch even more food!" Even if she was smaller in that form, she had a bigger mouth. And a lot more teeth while a it.
Now, how she'd explain this? Digivices were kinda tricky.
Well, a Digivice is... pretty much how a human and a digimon link. I don't know how it works exactly, but I can tell you from the get go that it's really powerful, and that you should take care of it as if it were really precious, because if you lose it... well, I don't really know what'd happen, but I'm not keen to find out either.
Going to something more specific, among the digivice's functions you can watch your digimon's evolutions and you can scan other digimons to know a little more about them. Wanna try it right now? It's really easy!
She smiled encouragingly, just as she picked her digivice again. At least Collin seemed to be really keen on learning; Yuu appreciated that.
