MPC: Fruits of your Labor
It was a day in November, more than two years after Colin James had first landed in the digital world. He had brought his twin partners to the home they had in P.R.O.F.I.T Headquarters. They had thoroughly enjoyed their adventures with their friends here. Yes, some of them were shady, almost ruthless individuals, but Colin had stayed in here after all these years because of the things they could build together. The money they got from performing good deeds to digimon and people in this world, the skills Colin had learned, all of it had been magnificent.
Today, Colin intended to give his partners a kind of surprise. In his home country, they celebrated an event every November with family - thanksgiving. In fact Colin's family in Japan still celebrated it, and they would do so tonight. However, because of the time difference between the digital world and Earth, Colin still had time to celebrate a feast with his partners before the one with his family (in which his partners would also be present at that one).
Colin had paid the cooks of PROFIT a handsome fee to get his request done. Most of the other PROFIT members were out doing jobs today, which made it an ideal opportunity for their meal to take place.
Finally, after his partners were beginning to get suspicious from all the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen, it was time to present them with their meals.
"Hey Luke, Bellamy, can you come into the dining room for a moment?" Colin asked them. The Elecmon and Impmon did so, then saw the table full of plates and bowls of delicious food. Turkey, pastries, chicken, fish, vegetables, the works.
"Happy thanksgiving, guys" Colin said, gripping both of their shoulders.
"Colin what is this?" Luke asked, dumbfounded.
"It's my thanks to you guys for all you've done" he said to them, proudly. The twins looked at each other for a moment.
"We... don't deserve this" Bellamy said slowly. His green eyes looked up at Colin. "I mean... god, Colin, you've done everything for us. You've helped us digivolve to Super Mega, you've spent... years bonding with us. You've taken care of us, you... god, we love you Colin".
Colin genuinely smiled at this. However, he shook his head at the sentiment. "And? You guys have done a lot for me too. I... don't think I've ever had friends as close as you two before" he turned a little pink as he said this, "And that means a lot. That's not even counting all the times you two saved my ass in the digital world".
"Heh, well, that was just our duty" Luke said. "But... well, yeah, of course we'd be your friends. You're literally everything we could have ever wanted in a human partner... minus the times when your hormones are playing up but we can work around that, heh heh".
"Yep. When you digivolved us to Rookie on Day 1, we knew we picked ya right" Bellamy said, putting an arm around Colin. "Okay then, if this food's for us, let's have at it before it gets cold, eh?"
They took their places at the small table and filled their plates with food, beginning to fill their empty stomachs at once. After a few mouthfuls though, Colin had a thought regarding the 'day 1' that Bellamy had mentioned.
"Say, guys" the now 15-year-old said hesitantly. "When we first met... how come you picked me? You didn't know anything about me, right?"
"Huh... well... I don't really remember back that far, mainly because I was just a few hours old" Bellamy said, scratching his chin. "How bout you, Luke?"
"I remember a little" Luke said. "Bellamy and I hatched from the same egg in Primary Village that day. Then the moment we did so, we felt some kind of... uh... force drawing us to Terminus City. Kind of... 'if we go there, something Amazing will happen'. So, we bounced onto a Trailmon that took us there, then we even digivolved to In-Training while we were waiting for you. Then, you arrived, and, you just seemed to be the person that we were looking for".
This seemed unlikely at first glance, but, Colin realized that the digital world does work in strange ways like that. So it was most likely the extent of how they ended up as partners.
"Huh, so, guess that's a thing" said Bellamy. "Hey, ya remember when we got our first armor evolutions?" he gave a wide grin as he remembered. "Compassion and Tenacity. Wouldn't have guessed that those would be our crests".
But they were. They had come as a surprise to even Colin, he hadn't grown up thinking he was overly compassionate and tenacious. However... things fell in place in his adventures in the digital world. He felt sympathy for individuals that had gone through hard times and ended up wanting to help them. And Tenacity... well, he had a daring streak. If something needed to be done, he'd do it, even against the odds. And in those most dangerous times, he'd have his partners to back him up.
Somehow, it had worked, and somehow, they were still here, celebrating all they had with a delicious feast.
"Evolving to Champion just... kinda happened" Luke added with a chuckle. "One moment we were just walking along, the next minute, 'Huh, I'm currently 5'6" and have a spear now" he gave a smile at his brother. "Bellamy here though, he kinda saw it coming didn't he? Doing all that anime posing".
"Hey, I didn't pose that much!" Bellamy said, but grinned all the same. "I just did a flourish with those matchstick wands of mine as I was transforming! It's kind of expected to make me hip with the kids".
Colin chuckled. They went over tales and stories of their times together for the rest of the meal. And by the time they had finally reached the tale of them achieving the pinnacle of their power - that of Biomerged Jogress SU - the form they took when all three of them were united as one, they were all quite full, only bones and scraps remaining on the table.
"I know I've said this so many times already today, but, thanks Colin" Luke said. Bellamy attempted to say the same but could only burp. Colin chuckled.
"Any time, guys" he said. He was delighted with what happened today. "And remember, there's the James Family dinner later, so, best prepare for round two!"
"Oh my god" Bellamy groaned. "Well, can we spend overnight in the digital world please? I don't wanna have another meal like that until tomorrow. Wait, make it two days".
"Heh heh, alright" Colin said, nodding. Well, two years together so far, he was hoping there'd be many more to come.
