Every night, there are always merry laughter coming out from the lowest part of the [Snowdrop Crystallum] ryokan. In that Japanese styled building that made about few months ago, many guest can enjoy a lot of sake, beer and various other snacks. In that sort of building that now bustling with guests, both native and not, lots of Yuki Agumon served the customers. Yes, this is the usual scenery of the dining hall of the ryokan. The chief of those Yuki Agumon is another Yuki Agumon, but just bigger named Yukimaru. Basically, he's the floor manager. To differentiate him from the rest of the Yuki Agumon, Yukimaru wore a different colored Ryokan staff kimono. Dealing with the cooking is a Meramon with contradicting nature named Hien... he's apparently really scarlet for a Meramon, so many guessed that mean he's cool enough compared to other Meramon. Meanwhile, the one that responsible to maintain the onsen falls to a Volcdramon named Kazan. Oh, speaking of which, the manager of the hotel while Koharu is gone is a Rosemon X named Ibara. These are the lineup of the Digimons working in Snowdrop Crystallum. Despite that, this situation... how to say... it's not really good for the business?
PART I: COMPETITORS
Holiday is coming, and apparently since Snowflake is fixed, it become rather tourist centric. Koharu's inn is no exception. However, the problem with them is compared to Koharu's Japanese style ryokan, their inn tends to be more western style. That honestly what made them to hit the mood to the home better. Koharu's Ryokan, unfortunately, unable to do the same. Speaking of it technically, she only got regulars staying in hers, while they literally got more and more tourists, especially those that came from outside the country.
"...Gee, look at the tourists," Kon-chan muttered. "they came like ant to sugar. But hey, for some reason this year's holiday season calls more and more tourist..."
"That's probably because Snowflake just recently rebuilt," Warg said. "Probably it was part of an old habit, then when last year it got destroyed, they was left sad. When the town got rebuilt, you can see that they returned. Simple, right?"
"When was the tourist peak again?" Kon-chan asked.
"Summer and around Christmas," third voice joined them. Koharu took off her thick mantle and tosses it away. "Around golden week for those who wanted to have a trip to the cold place, although Whitewater often visited more. There's also around Christmas when everyone tries to get in festive mood. Not to mention that apparently there's a Digimon called Santamon around here. There are also new year. I think the latter is to our favor..."
"Koharu, where were you?" Kon-chan asked, slightly nonplussed. "You didn't came home yesterday!"
"Oh, I was staying at the other inn," she admitted, enough to make the SWAT dragon's face cramps in a moment.
"...Were you spying?"
"Well, if that's how you take it. Anyway, they doesn't seem me. To the contrary, they seem looking down on me if you ask me. Like, they thought we're not good at all. Well, not that it matters. Technically we're losing here anyway, based on the tourist and occupant. Even if we have better service than them..."
"Wait, what do you mean better service?" Warg asked.
Koharu sighed, as if recalling something unpleasant. Even the Black Guilmon understood that this technically means she's probably treated unwell. "Let's begin... first, breakfast isn't included, or meal for that matter. This means robbery, as technically they made the price as high as they could, but doesn't give you any benefit to offset it. They used excuse like full occupancy to excuse the high price. Oh, and about the food, they made excuse that if they gave free breakfast, they're literally going to run out of food fast."
"...Ain't that bullshit?" Kon-chan asked. "If they want to make an inn, they should've known that they need to make some effort in transporting their raw material for the food and all! This is what I call a bad management!"
"That's just an excuse," Warg agreed. "But I assume that this is just the first case?"
"Yep, another tried their best in giving breakfast, it was satisfactory, but there was problem with hygiene. Apparently they're understaffed and the employee is a bit scattered, probably because the manager or the owner is a bit on the new side. In return for this, of course the staffwork become disoriented. At times there are no one that man the cleaning, everyone was just focused being waiting the tables."
"So is buffet system better?"
"Technically, that's how it is. It's efficient... at least for western hotel. Meanwhile, we're a Japanese hotel. I'm not saying we can't do buffet, though..."
"Hmmm, that's something to think about... what's the other?"
"Let's see, the other have best cleaning service and have buffet, but the staffs are rude. So it's fusion of both... oh right, the price is also absurdly high, it's a high class inn, though. Most of the employees are human looking, so maybe holosuited... I don't quite like how they being snobs though."
"...So basically, all of them... almost all of them are small fry?"
"...However, there's one thing that have been bothering me."
"Bothering you?"
"The fourth one... it was empty, but so huge. Like it was there to prepare for some unlikely event. Event that however you look at it, we got about 50 regular rooms, 30 suite room and 10 VIP room. The other hotel have at least more than ours to top our onsen prowess. Now, that inn... probably can fit in 4000 people..."
"4---!!" Kon-chan looked completely surprised. There's no mistaking it. That's beyond silly and just goes to the point of crazy. A 4000 room hotel, that's literally going to be a do or die moment. Now what sort of impetus would help them to gain more money in that sort of situation? How to make break even? Even Kon-chan have no idea. Well, this is holiday, so there might be probably some way to make up for it, but... c'mon, Digimon doesn't have concept of holiday. How on earth would they make profit like that?
"...With four inns in this place, it's a seriously unhealthy competition. And what if there was some sort of strategy that could cause this sort of boom?" Warg muttered.
"...The Black Hematite mine was recently reclaimed, but I'm not sure if that's the reason," Kon-chan muttered. "...Then, probably... Frozen Mausoleum?"
"Oi, oi! That's not funny joke over there!" Warg interjected. "That's almost like telling people 'I'm going to rob that ruin dry'! What if those gravekeeper got really angry?"
"...Rather than the gravekeepers, I'm worried more that what if there are spirits there... Spirits that get angry is the worst... what's worse is if all Spirits inside of that... choose one host and descend judgement upon us..." Koharu answered.
"...That'd be a horror story," Kon-chan commented.
"Right!? What are those people thinking?"
"Then again, Warg, most likely people doesn't care. Normally most Digimon also don't. Because afterall, dead are dead. The dead doesn't even need any gold or worldly item, at least that's what they thought. That's exactly why that people can be tomb rider around here legally. Because death is just an illusion to Digimon, or at least many think so," Kon-chan muttered.
"Even so, don't they even know what Spirits are?"
"Many think they're just dead totem with memories. Well, at any rate..."
Koharu quickly dons her uniform, one that looked like the ryokan owner. She also applied make up on herself. She generally dislikes this, but apparently lot of the customer like it that she appears this way. She soon joined with Ibara on the stairs below. ibara, unlike most Rosemon, clad herself in kimono and do her hair in different way. Actually, this Rosemon even have blue rose instead of red and her hair is black too.
"Ooya-sama, welcome back. There are no problem over here."
