Ginkakumon's hand was slowly slipping backwards. That was good. An early advantage to press meant Elliot would have more leverage to work with in the future. After all, he'd be working a nice, easy downhill battle, while Ginkakumon would have to start fighting uphill. Elliot kept up the pressure, leaning slightly more into it to keep Ginkakumon on the defensive through this exchange. If he could keep Ginkakumon's hand slipping backwards, maybe he'd be on track towards actually picking up the win for one of these matches. But the last thing he'd want to do is start being cocky. When in doubt, Elliot figured it'd be best to always assume he was losing and give it his 110%.
The idea of respecting a spirit that much was kind of confusing at first. But then again, shortly thereafter he remembered Sol and Kisara. Some spirits really did exert a lot more force and influence, didn't they? Sometimes, it was surprisingly easy for Elliot to forget that these were once living Digimon. Then again, how could anyone blame him? His and Isaac's spirits were mostly inert. There were some exceptions. The strange, guiding voices in the temple they explored, for one. Or the subtle, almost imperceptible influence their spirits had over their personalities, especially the beast ones. But there were no voices in their heads, no forces exerting control over their bodies, and certainly no manifestations. Sometimes, it made it hard for the brothers to see them as anything but artifacts. Fossils. Rocks.
Elliot knew what his next question would be now. Perhaps Ginkakumon would notice a small smile as he realized that.
Isaac also smiled a little, hearing about the true purpose of the base. It made him feel a little bit more comfortable, especially compared to the worry in the back of his mind that the babies were reincarnations of dead prisoners. "That's really kind of him," Isaac said, a bit of the earlier frost in his voice thawing. Although wait, him or them? Oni siblings were mentioned, but this was the first Isaac had heard of anyone but Ginkakumon. Who knows how many people could have moved on now? It could have just been Ginkakumon and another, or it could have been a whole familial group. Either way, it was quite interesting.
At mention of adults wanting to stay, Isaac found himself unconsciously saying "Well, we wouldn't mind helping. At least a bit." However, he quickly bit down on his tongue after that. Especially since the follow up was dangerously likely to be some sarcastic remark about getting locked up in cages.
As for why the prison mattered? Well, health reasons was one of them, but Isaac got the feeling there wouldn't exactly be any rotten flesh that the babies could get sickened by. Digital World logic could be weird sometimes, but that made it way more sanitary. Until sentient poo slugs were introduced into the equation, at least. "Well, okay. I just wanted to make sure none of them could've gotten hurt. But I get the feeling you guys already have that easily taken care of," Isaac added, looking up at Elye a little. Yeah, even with all of his big talk earlier, MadLeomon was a terrifying Digimon. Even compared to some Ultimates and Megas he had seen before, there was a menace about it that was just plain unnerving. Now that he was outside the crate actually looking at him, he was regretting a lot of his earlier talk!
"So, you said most adults don't stay. Why'd you guys?"

Busy struggling to keep his arm stable, Ginkakumon didn't seem to pay much mind to the smile that his opponent was providing. How the heck was a child strong enough to legitimately push his hand this far? Jeez, maybe he shouldn't have put so much effort into that first round. But, really, who would have expected a kid dressed as a Strikedramon to actually have some force behind him?
With a huff, the Digimon decided not to put too much thought into this round. He was losing, and the chances of him winning were growing slimmer by the second. Plus, it wasn't like he was used to throwing a round for the kids, anyway. So, allowing his hand to ease itself down to the stump, the oni accepted defeat on this round.
"Alright, you get to ask a question now."
Meanwhile, Meicoomon found a perch on the top of one of the huts, overlooking the match. This was just all sorts of weird. What kind of place would arm-wrestle over a spirit? Either way, everyone that was spectating seemed enthralled. Babies were cheering or jeering, along with the few rookies that took up the camp.
But, was that seriously a big deal that Ginkakumon was watching over kids? Though, a large Digimon such as himself should be spending his time terrorizing someone, or something. Not babysitting. That was just a matter of opinion, though.
Witchy shrugged, trying to gauge why someone that had been trapped in a crate was offering to help with the children. Maybe the lack of oxygen had removed his ability to have common sense. "Well, if Strikedramon loses, you're stuck telling the little ones a story, anyway." Not that it seemed to be that big of a punishment to either of the brothers!
"They're babies. Babies get hurt. It wouldn't be anything new." Not even the part where Ginkakumon had to cradle injured, tiny monsters, while scolding anyone that was supposed to be watching them at the time! ...Man, that was really just ridiculous. Reasons like this was why he had encouraged making Honey a more important figure in the camp. They just didn't have enough people!
And, Ginkakumon was an eerily overprotective 'father.' "You seem to know everything about us already," the Witchmon pointed out. After all, he had already assumed their reasons for being here weren't entirely to help out. "So, why don't you tell us why you think we're here!" This kid asked too many questions!

Ginkakumon came to the same conclusion Elliot did, although with way less bashing his face into a losing fight first. That as the kind of experience and awareness that separated a veteran like him from a fresh-faced newcomer like Elliot. Nevertheless, Elliot couldn't help but be a little disappointed at what felt like a pity win lobbed his way. Then again, considering he had figured he'd be crushed, maybe he should just take the win and move on. And if he got Ginkakumon to at least give the win, he had to have been doing something right. Right?
Now for questions. Elliot remained poised and ready for the next round of the arm wrestling match, but Ginkakumon's words were still echoing through his ears. "What was the spirit like?" Elliot asked, the words sounding just the slightest bit mystified. "It- She sounds really important to you. And I'd love to hear more about her." Maybe Ginkakumon would be the sentimental type and have a lot to share. Maybe he'd be closed off and shut Elliot down. But the way Ginkakumon was talking made it hard for Elliot to not admire the spirit already, even if just from the tone of his voice.
It made him briefly wonder what his own spirits were like. Maybe he'd consult Sol and Kisara later.
Stuck? That implied Isaac didn't like that job. "I've been telling my bro bedtime stories since he's been born," Isaac said, smirking a little. "Hell, don't tell him I said this, but I still do. Sure, it's just reading the drafts of the stories he's written, but when he conks out midway through listening to them I think I'm safe calling it a bedtime story." It seemed like Elliot was way more about initial bursts of artsy inspiration than he was about actually knuckling down and editing any of his work. "Trust me. It'd be my pleasure."
"Nah, not know. I just watch, learn, and assume," Isaac pointed out. "Everything I've been saying is stuff I've heard from you guys. But let me see what I can think up."
Alright. Deary, that implied they were very close. Perhaps, close even before Ginkakumon had taken them into his camp. They were held in very high regard, so if at one point they were strangers now they were practically the camp's second in command. They were trusted with doing Kinkakumon's dirty work, judging by their training, prison warden, and sentry work while Ginkakumon watched over babies and held contests. Elye seemed to be the only other male in here, although with the high voices of the babies it was very unclear. And while somewhat unpleasant, they seemed more short-tempered than nefarious. "I think you're here to help," Isaac finally said. "With the camp. With the kids. With the prisoners. And I think with the spirit you're trying to help, too. Even if it isn't help Ginkakumon wants, or maybe even knows about.
How close am I?"

He should have expected a question like this. But, it was a kid that was asking! Ginkakumon was used to things like 'why isn't the sky bright purple?' and 'how many bugs can I fit in my mouth before I puke?', but instead, he was actually being asked a real thing! That was pretty weird.
"Confident," was the first descriptor that came to mind, along with, "a real nightmare for anyone who crossed her path." But, was that really what Elliot was searching for, in his question? Did he want to know what she acted like, looked like, or personal achievements? "She built this place."
Placing his elbow back onto the stump, he grinned. "Good enough answer for you?" He was ready to get to the determining round!
Asher found himself snickering at Isaac's secret story-telling. "What? You do?" That was... adorable! In all the most hilarious ways! The redhead imagined the younger of the brothers just completely out, while listening to some of the awful stories involving Princess Isis. Oh, he hoped that Isaac used a girly voice for Isis' speech.
Witchmon raised an eyebrow, listening to the assumptions. He wasn't necessarily accurate, but maybe the boy was trying to paint them in a light that didn't end in MadLeomon snuffing him out. "Well, I don't know how you would think we're helping with the spirit." There was a huff, as the witch debated on telling the truth. But, then Ginkaku would know, if he didn't already. "We just want the spirit. But, it's not worth the stress on Ginkakumon. So, Elye got a little," how was best to phrase this? "Stuck in helping out."
After all, nobody found it particularly safe to keep a barely sane creature around a bunch of babies. At least, right now, he seemed moderately coherent. "You just found one of his good days. Normally, the second we leave the crates, we have to come back to stop him from eating the entire box."
Elye wasn't particularly fond of being called out on this, letting out a distressed gurgle, which only received a pat on the nose. "Yes, I know. They just look too tasty. This is why you need to be on a diet." Why couldn't the MadLeomon understand that she was just helping him out? And, helping extend the lifespan of any visitors that crossed his path! It was awfully hard to hold a trial if they were busy trying to pick pieces of the monsters out of his teeth! "But, it's more-or-less just us helping out with babies, at this point. It's not like he can actually take care of everyone, otherwise."

Elliot smiled softly as he heard about Ginkakumon's sister. A terror who also opened up a forest orphanage? She certainly sounded like quite the character. His tone was impossible to place, and it seemed like he was saying some of the first stuff to come to mind. Then again, how else was someone supposed to react to a question as sudden as Elliot's? He seemed appeased, at least for now, but the curiosity was still burning bright in the back of his mind. "She sounded wonderful," he said. "Maybe after all of this, would you be able to tell me more about her? I'd love to be able to give her the honor and respect she deserves."
Just like the honor and respect he had never really paid to his own. It wasn't his fault! They were always so inert. So unfeeling. So quiet. Sometimes it felt so weird. Now he was starting to feel guilty about harnessing these powers without proper understanding. Then again, the spirits were working with him, weren't they? That had to have been a sign of approval. Veemon's tenacity, Strikedramon's might, Sandiramon's loyalty, and Gargoylemon's diligence were all behind him. They may not have spoke, but they were there. He'd just have to show them the proper respect for it afterwards.
He sat down once more, clasping Ginkakumon's hand. "But that's for later. Now, lets settle this," he said, a new confidence swelling in his voice.
Isaac had no idea about how the spirit could be helped with, hence his nebulous somehow. What did he have to work here? He knew Ginkakumon loved it, to the part where nobody could ever see him parting ways with it. He knew Witchmon was magic, although the full extent of her capabilities was an enigma to him. He knew whatever she wanted the spirit for would be tons of stress on Ginkakumon. What could even stress him out so much? It was almost as if . . .
"It's almost as if you want to try and bring her back." Isaac's voice was quiet, the sheer weight and mystery of the statement crushing any earlier bravado and defiance in his voice.

"Sure," Ginkakumon shrugged. He had no idea what else Elliot would have wanted to know about the spirit. Or how to honor her. But, whatever. He wasn't going to crush the kid's dreams. Even if they did seem a bit weird. Though, he had to worry about what would happen, if he were to lose the next match. If he lost, would he really have to risk losing that spirit? That would really suck. Not that he really planned on giving it away, to begin with, but...
With the stress of the final round, Ginkaku was curious to see what kind of force would be put behind a kid that was trying to find out more. "Deal."
The Minomon was quick to start counting again. "Three! Two! One! Go!"
This time, Ginkakumon intended to put as much of his strength into it as he could.
"What?" Witchymon stared at Isaac, incredulously. "Ginkakumon might want to bring her back, but it's not going to happen," she pointed out with a scoff. The witch made a rapid gesture to the MadLeomon, not even bothering to conceal her frustration. "Elye was going to try to use the totem. You know. Like a normal person would?" God, it's like you have to spell everything out to kids these days! What was with this generation?
"It's like someone dropped you on your head as a baby, or something," the Witchmon huffed, rolling her eyes. Seriously? Them? Bring it back to life? That was a joke. Who had the means for that? Even a witch's magic wouldn't be strong enough for something like that!

"Alright. Lets both give this one 100%, okay?" Elliot asked. That might've been a weird question to ask, but the reason why would be apparent as Elliot's hair started to glow. It was subtle at first, his red hair seemingly fading out, but soon it was a bright white as it flowed dramatically behind him. The tattoo on his chest did similar, only thin black outlines and a slight glow distinguishing it from his white chest. He was channeling his Burning Inner Strength now, a move he was glad Kinkakumon had never pushed him to use before. If he wasted it in round 2, he would've been too exhausted to muster it up again in round 3. However, now that this contest was nearing its end, he could use it with impunity. With all of the force this technique could help him use he pushed against Kinkakumon's hand, hoping to slam it down to a decisive end.
If Kinkakumon had any secrets of his own up his sleeves, now would be the perfect time to use it.
Isaac, on the other hand, was reminded that for all of his cynicism he, too, could have some lofty and romanticized ideals up his sleeves. Witchmon dashed them far less magically than one would think a magical witch ever could. "Look, I'm talking to a magical witch and a giant lion man in the middle of a day care fortress within a magical world I travel to on top of talking trains," he said, exasperated. "Is a resurrection spell seriously outlandish, with all of that considered? Seriously?" Isaac was reaching maximum levels of done, or at the very least maximum levels of confused.
Their plan raised a few questions, too. "You know, can you even use it?" Isaac asked. "I don't even mean it like an insult. I mean, is it physically possible for you guys to use the spirit? My bro and I have tried trading in the past, and it doesn't work in the slightest. And we haven't seen anyone else switch spirits, either. The one time I've seen it is when someone stole ours, and that guy was a king. So it might take, like, royal levels of willpower to crack it. Or maybe it's because he's a Digimon, and we're humans, so he can just interface with the thing instead of needing his Digivice to recognize it. I swear, there's always more questions . . ."
Yes, Isaac was seriously reduced to theorycrafting in the middle of a debate. Why was nobody ever around to tell him anything?

"Of course." It wasn't like Ginkakumon wasn't going to give it his all! Except, uh, why was the kid glowing like that? Maybe, it was a bad idea to wager anything, when he had no idea what they were capable of. Either way, the Digimon was going to put up the best fight that he could!
The Oni managed to keep his hand from touching down in the first few seconds. A teapot-like screech emitted from the back of the monster's gauntlets, as he worked to try to regain lost ground.
Was the stump beginning to crack a little, or was it his imagination?
Sometimes, Witchy forgot how out-of-the-loop outsiders were, when in the Digital World. "Yes! It is outlandish!" Just because lion men were existing, it didn't mean that bringing someone back from a certain level of dead was plausible in the slightest!
"You're all outlandish. Do digivices have an opt-out button?"
"Shut up!" The witch snapped, barely even glancing at Asher's stupid comment. Did he really think it was that easy? Just to say 'nope, I'm good,' and forget about Digimon? Kids were stupid.
Either way, the conversation wasn't over with her and Isaac, despite the fact that Elye had clearly lost interest. Mostly, because a small insect had landed on his snout, and he was trying to get his tongue to reach it. But, either way... "Do you really think we hadn't thought about that?"
Witchy was way smarter than two teenage boys! She'd dare to argue that she was older, but that was rather questionable. After all, nobody wanted to do the translation between Digital and Human years to figure out how old she actually was! "We have a digivice. It pointed to the stupid spirit for weeks!" Interestingly, the item had stopped doing so a while back. Maybe, it was because of a change in how the host... existed. "Look, I don't ask questions about spirits. That's just asking for a headache. I wouldn't even really care about the entire thing, if we hadn't been fussing with getting it for so long!"

Ginkakumon hadn't lost. In fact, he was now in a reversal of Elliot's past situation, focusing all of his energy into trying to reverse a loss. What started as a decisive slam had now become a stalemate, Ginkakumon's gauntlet steaming as it tried to hang on for dear life. "Woah! Now that's some power!" Elliot said, practically in awe of Ginkakumon's last gasp of endurance. Nevertheless, he wasn't giving up now. He leaned even harder, trying to keep Ginkakumon in his current overwhelmed position. His knees were practically leaving indents in the ground from how hard Elliot was currently focusing, as if he'd flop onto the ground without Ginkakumon currently holding him up. His teeth were grit in pure concentration, and the usual chatty boy was left in stony silence as he tried to overcome Ginkakumon's final resistance.
"Digimon come back from the dead all the time! Seriously, it is not outlandish," Isaac snapped back. What was Witchmon's damage? Had she never been to the Village of Beginning's before? Sure, spirits were more dead than that, but they were also magical artifacts capable of conferring blessings onto people. Who the hell knew what they were capable of to so firmly say "resurrection is off the table" like that? Then again, Isaac wasn't in much of a position to say it was possible, either.
However, what Witchmon had to say next caught his attention big time. "Wait, what?" he said, confused. Could Digimon even have Digivices? Could spirits even switch allegiances? Why the hell hadn't that thing been beeping for the last 6 months if it's been beeping for weeks with Witchmon? Why did everything start to taste purple?
"Okay. First of all, where did you get that? And secondly, can we see it? 'Cause it doesn't sound you're bluffing here, but with how this one refuses to stop beeping we sure as heck aren't either. I promise, neither of us are going to take it or try any funny business. I'm gonna put my hands behind my head, right where you can see them," Isaac said, moving his hands behind his head as he said this. Maybe it was a reckless move, but damnit, he just wanted this settled already!

Ginkakumon was too focused on the subject at hand to even respond to Elliot's surprise. Instead, he managed a smirk, continuing trying to hold on. Of course, even he knew that he could only hold on for so long, before the inevitable would happen.
So, the question was, play dirty, or actually fair?
...Darn it. Why did such an innocent kid have to be his challenger? Why couldn't it be a cocky brat?
The Digimon didn't have the heart to cheat. And, with such thoughts, the Digimon found his hand slowly lowering again. So much for winning! Inevitably, Ginkakumon felt his fist hit the stump. And, he was at a loss for words.
"Why's it matter where we got it?" Witchy started, defensively. How did Isaac refuse to believe that they even had one? It wasn't like she was going to pry it out of some dead kid's hands!
"Oh! Found the opt-out!" There was a click, and a burst of light, before Asher found himself stuck in Renamon form again. The teen let out a sigh, muttering, "nope. I'm a furry again, aren't I?" It seemed that, instead, he had found a button that let him evolve without too much thought. Now, if he could actually remember what he had hit to get there, he'd be in good shape!
...This seriously wasn't the person that was going to inherit that Spirit's power, was it?
The Witchmon looked to Elye, then back to Isaac. "While I'd love to show you the digivice. But, it's not quite that simple. What happens to a digivice, when someone uses it? Is it still in your hand, normally, or part of your programming?"

It wasn't with a thud or a crack, but instead with a gentle tapping sound that Ginkakumon's hand finally hit the stump. He had put up an amazing fight against Elliot at his best, and it took unleashing one of his strongest techniques to even get Ginkakumon to that level. And yet, before he seemed so boisterous and confident, and always rearing for another challenge. Now he was completely silent, his words dropping as softly as his hand had. Whereas Elliot originally sprung up and pumped a fist in victory, the silence coming from Ginkakumon was quite unnerving to him. He headed back to the stump, stooping down slightly as his form degenerated back to that of his human self. "Are you okay?" he found himself asking, casting a worried look at the oni.
Wait, was that his last question? Damnit!
Isaac was a little impressed seeing how quickly Asher could get the hang of Digivolving. It was a shame he could only do it unintentionally, through hilarious amounts of fumbling. But compared to the whole ritualistic process he needed before, it was a marked improvement! What many would see as a flub (including Isaac, admittedly), Isaac saw as room for potential. "Because I'm hoping this train of thought doesn't end in you shoving my friend in a box, killing him, and taking his Digivice," Isaac retorted. Seriously! He could not have this conversation in anything but the most suspicious terms when they were hovering around the murder boxes! "I mean, I've never seen a Digimon with a Digivice before. Hell, I've seen more of them manifest in the human world than I've seen manifest here."
Then again, Witchmon raised a good point. "Oh, well, when we're in Digimon form it absorbs into us," he agreed. He would've loved to show them, but as he took out his own Digivice it was still dark and inert. "So I'm guessing that means Elye absorbed his, too. Does that mean its just kinda stuck there?" He could've faintly recalled something about Elye not being the same lately. Was that why? "That can't be healthy, having that in your code 24/7. I mean, hell, Elliot and I hold onto that for a single combat and it gets draining enough."

Ginkakumon remained silent throughout the entire winning process, while there was little more than hushed murmurs from onlookers. He had lost? With a wager like that on his shoulders? Talk about crazy! What had gotten into him?
Rising from his position beside the stump, the oni grunted a, "'m fine." Fine certainly didn't mean enthused! "Is that your last question, or you got a different one?"
Hey, at least he might be able to stall for a few minutes before helping with this stupid spirit thing!
"Why would we want his digivice? The first one's caused enough problems," Witchy was quick to retort. Seriously. It was stuck inside of her boyfriend. She really didn't want a second one! In fact, she didn't even want the first one!
But, Isaac seemed to be missing an incredibly important point. "You do realize that 'Elye' isn't a common Digimon's name, right?" Let's see if it sinks in this time. Probably not, but whatever.
Either way, hearing his name, the MadLeomon looked to Witchy, and then to Isaac. What did they want from him? Raising a large paw, the monster scratched his head, but didn't seem to be thinking too hard on the subject. Mostly because he wasn't particularly capable of it.
"I know it's not healthy. But, it's impossible to get him to spit it out at this point. I've tried." Even to the extent that 'spit it out' was literal! Because she couldn't think of any other way to get him to stop being insane! "It was lost after he found that Beast Spirit. If turning back into a human was hard enough for him before, it became impossible after he couldn't think straight enough to remember it was ever there." Oh well. He remembered her, and that's all that really mattered! "A new spirit might be what it takes to get his mind back." But, at this point? Witchy was even doubting that.

Elliot cast a worried look at Ginkakumon. It seemed oni chieftains and teen girls worked on the same logic, where fine meant anything but fine. It was like the exuberance had practically been sucked out of him. Elliot moved away from his current position on the stump, sitting next to Ginkakumon instead of across from him. "You seem kinda bummed about this," he said, pointing out the obvious to make sure Ginkakumon couldn't escape his questions. "Please, if you have any worries, please, let me hear them out. You've been really kind to me so far, and you're doing so much for all these kids.
I don't want to hurt you."
And now everything was clear to Isaac, too. Somehow, that little detail had completely passed him by. Maybe because he hadn't seen another spirit user stuck like that before. Maybe it was because the name Elye didn't properly sink in. Hell, maybe it was because he had no clue that a Digimon would even want to date a human, no matter how bestial! That part almost slipped out, before he reminded himself that it would be super rude. "Oh," he said, finally processing what the heck was going on here. Agh, now he felt like a jerk for being so suspicious! "Why didn't you say something before? If we knew, we would've been happy to help you! It would've been a better start than locking us up, for sure."
Okay, okay, no time for the grumpies today. "Ugh, no. I'm sorry for being kind of suspicious and on edge today," he said, half begrudging amd half genuinely remorseful. "I know when I was first learning, degeneration from fatigue or a fight was the easiest way of getting out of my forms. But if he's been stuck in this form for so long, I can't see that working. Another spirit . . . hell, maybe, but if he can't degenerate then he might not be able to slide, either.
Agh. I wish I knew what to do. But I don't want to leave anyone hanging. Is there anything he responds especially well to?" Isaac asked, hoping he could map out tje path to Elye's humanity somehow.

Why was this kid just too nice? It wasn't okay. Ginkakumon wanted to be mad and beat the crap out of him. But hurting an innocent just wasn't his style! He couldn't do it! "Nope, I'm good," he was quick to grumble, rolling his shoulder. But, the comment of hurting him only caused laughter. "Pipsqueak, you, hurt me? Hilarious," he managed, dryly. Well, at least it had given him a small sum of humor to consider.
"You're looking for my sister. D'you think I'm keen on just handing her over to someone?"
Hopefully, this would feel like a valid point.
Speaking of valid points, Witchy had another to bring up. "What would possess us to tell strangers that our MadLeomon is actually a guy trapped inside of a giant lion?" That just seemed ill advised! Anyone would think they could target someone that might have some human in them! Humans were squishy.
Little did they know, Elye was too far gone to care about humanity.
"He chose to stay a Digimon. Deary stopped being human long ago." After all, who would think that a Digimon would want to date a human? Not that it had ever crossed Witchy's mind, considering she was rather humanoid herself, but apparently people considered those kind of things. "I don't think he'll just become a human with something simple. We're fine." To this, Elye gave a rapid nod, with some sort of happy sounding grumbles. "See? He's fine."
Everyone just seemed to be 'fine' around here, didn't they?
Except for a certain Meicoomon, who was scrambling back to the holding cells. Of course, Whiskers skidded to a stop, staring at the MadLeomon. Man, even if he wasn't eating people, that thing was scary! "Oh!" Remember what you're here for, Whiskers! Don't get cold paws now! "Elliot won!"

Oh. So that was why he suddenly became so disquieted. Elliot took a step back slightly, as if unnerved by the realization. He didn't even think spirits could be that young! They always seemed so ancient, and here was one that still seemed like a scar so fresh, so recent. The normally chatty Elliot was given great pause by this revelation, and he looked down at his feet sorrowfully. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realize," he said. He had figured the spirit to be a village elder or something. Ginkakumon's predecessor, maybe. How was he supposed to expect a sister? If anything, now he was imagining having to give Isaac away. Not even for the greater good of the world, but for the good of one person. It was an idea that stung deeply to his core. "My friend's really depending on this, but I don't want to just separate you two. Not without your permission first. I don't think I'd ever have the heart to do that." His voice was somewhat faint, as if he was trying to keep himself grounded.
Unsure of what else to do, he gently wrapped his arms around Ginkakumon to hug him. "You don't have to do anything you don't want to," he said. As he said this, slowly a bit of inspiration came into his mind. "Maybe you could meet my friend? And introduce him to her? I know it might sound weird, but I really think he could carry her torch. You'd be amazed just how big of a heart he has, honest! If you two don't approve of him you can send us on our way, no problems. But please, at least give him the chance to prove himself." And that was how Elliot changed the victory of his gamble to another gamble. He just couldn't bring himself to take away Ginkakumon's sister without both siblings giving their permission first.
Witchmon made a fair point, too. Isaac knew he was a good person who wouldn't take advantage of them, but others might not have been so trustworthy. "I mean, I figured if anyone would be able to help it would be other spirit users, right?" Isaac said. "But I get you. Best case scenario it doesn't change anything, worst case scenario people use it to try and hurt you." Sure, Isaac wouldn't be so secretive about being a spirit user, but he certainly wouldn't tell people "my bro's under 100 pounds and has a bad leg, kick his ass." Still, seemed like the issue was more complex than just human or Digimon. It seemed whatever spirit Elye had found had robbed him of his mental presence, and that was the real dangerous thing. After all, it wasn't like a Digimon called "Mad" Leomon sounded like a paragon of critical thinking and rationality. This left Isaac in a real conundrum though. If two Digivices were after the same spirit, who got to bear it? "So you said before, his Digivice has been pulling him towards this spirit. Has it still been doing it?" he asked. "Are there any other places it's been pointing towards? 'Cause hell, I don't care how far it is, if you guys need a hand finding a spirit I'll do my best to help you hunt it down."
But not this one, 'cause Elliot just won! "Ha, that's my bro! How'd he even pull that off?" Isaac asked, beaming.
