Wait, what was going on now? The kid was apologizing? Weird. "What're you sorry for? You didn't kill her." Children were strange creatures, indeed. And that was coming from a guy that collected them!
Stiffening, Ginkakumon looked down at Elliot. Why did children always have to hug, too? Jeez, this one wasn't even one of his kids, and he was still getting hugs. "I know I don't have to do anything," he was quick to point out, still trying to figure out how to handle this 'hugging' thing. If everyone else saw this, they'd all want a hug! And he really didn't care to be the center of a cuddle pile tonight! But, why was he placing out another gamble like that?
Honestly, Ginkaku had been debating on just giving the spirit to the kid. Because his sister would beat the crap out of him, if he had tricked an innocent child. The oni's mind might change, if he met the person that would actually be using it, but... "Eh, sure, why not. Go find him. I'll bring her out here, I guess." Stupid children being all... innocent and persuasive.
Less innocent, and more nosy, was Isaac. And, Witchy was getting really tired of answering all of the questions! "Do you think I know what's going on with his digivice? Can't really learn much about it, when he can't use words!" This earned a few distressed gurgles from her partner, who she patted again. "There, there. You know I don't care." Comforting a giant lion was kind of like cuddling a dog. They'd both be happy with sweet words and physical contact.
"And, no offense," the Witchmon was quick to add, "we really don't want your help." But, eyes shifted to the talking cat, while letting out a few grumbles under her breath. Yes. How did a small child beat the leader of their camp? "Yes. How did he manage that?"
"I don't meow! He was glowy! Then boom! Won!"

"Yay! Thank you!" Elliot chirped, hobbling back to the room with the crates to try and find Asher. "I'll be right back. Promise."
Of course, "right back" would probably depend on how long it took to make Isaac stop debating this witch. However, with her saying she didn't want his help, that sealed the deal. "Well, alright then," he decided. If they didn't want his help, then surely they wouldn't mind if he took the spirit and rolled out. Of course, as soon as he made the decision to stop asking questions she started asking questions. "Heh. My bro's stronger than he looks," Isaac said in response, shooting a proud grin to the tiny figure coming up over the horizon. "Pretty quick thinking, too. When you put a brain like his in a body like our spirits', you get some really good strategies forming up. Guessing that's how he sealed the deal."
"It was really tough, too," said the aforementioned tiny figure. Elliot was surprisingly quick for a guy with a bad leg, sometimes! "Ginkakumon's so strong! But now he's gonna let Asher see the spirit, and see if they make a good match. If they're both okay with it, he can have the spirit! Isn't that great?"
Isaac sighed slightly. "Elliot, I thought the point of the bet was so we could just have the spirit. Are we really gonna stop to do something else?"
"She's his sister, Isaac," Elliot said, somewhat solemnly. "I couldn't just do that to him. Not without his permission, at the very least. I want to help Asher, believe me, but I'm not going to tear them apart like that."
Family really was everything, wasn't it? Isaac nodded, relenting. "Well, I guess we'd better hurry up, then. We've probably wasted enough of his time by now, huh?"
"Oh, he's a big softy! I'm sure he's fine with all of it. C'mon, Asher, let's go! Its time for you to meet your destiny~!" Elliot didn't mean to make it sound foreboding. Honest!

Meicoomon looked to Elliot as he joined the group, trying to ignore the pouting that Witchy seemed to be doing. If everything could just be won with arm wrestles, why didn't anyone try this sooner? Weren't spirits valuable, or something? Ah, whatever. Whiskers was just a cat, and she really didn't care to be rich. After all, it wasn't like she had anything to spend money on.
"Who's 'both'?" Asher felt the need to ask. "Me and your arm-wrestling friend? Or the spirit and someone? Because, if it's talking, I really don't want it." It seemed that Karin really did leave an impression on the poor teen. He was terrified of the thought of someone else talking to him, in his head! Or controlling his actions. That just all sounded terrifying!
But, really? His sister? "Is this going to be a theme, or something? I really don't want to be another girl," he pointed out, while motioning to the Renamon body that he was currently donning. This was just embarrassing! Who wanted to look like this if they weren't female, and didn't identify as such?
Either way, the sprite lifted himself off the dirt, throwing a glance at Isaac, before moving to follow Elliot. "Off to destiny!" Asher cheered, convincingly. Oh, why couldn't he have found that opt-out button? Stupid digivice.
Was this how main characters felt in video games and cartoons? Because, if so, he really felt bad for them. This was just too much work!
Witchy made a shooing motion, to get Isaac and Whiskers to follow Elliot back to where Ginkakumon would be waiting, with the spirit, while Elye followed behind the group. After all, they didn't need any wandering!
"So, uh, if I get this spirit, then what do I do?" This seemed like an important question, after all!

"I don't know if she's gonna, like, talk talk. But you know, gut feelings and all that," Elliot said. "Like how I was able to use Strikedramon's strength in that arm wrestling match. I'm sure if I was going against my spirit's wishes, I would've gotten creamed! So I guess it really boils down to seeing if you're able to use the spirit. You know, like a sword in the stone kind of thing. Think of it like you're asking someone out. Except her brother's huge. And really buff. Like, buffer than you buff." Isaac raised an eyebrow at that analogy. "But you'll be fine! You're great with first impressions, after all. And there's no way he doesn't see how big of a heart you've got."
"Well, looks like it is a theme. Better luck next time, eh?" Isaac asked, adding a bit of levity to the situation. Well, levity for everyone except Asher, of course! Looks like he was doomed to be a woman each and every time. Hopefully this one wouldn't be so furry, at least. And hey, maybe he'd even get used to it! Nobody asked Isaac if he wanted to be a dragon, and he was fine with it.
Then again, Isaac would've always been fine with being a kickass dragon.
"Well, if you get the spirit, you do the same thing we do with ours. Or like you did with Renamon," Elliot said. "You load her into your Digivice, and then you can take her form." It was something Elliot had done so much, it just felt natural to mention in such a blase fashion. To Asher, who had never used a spirit before? That would probably feel way more odd. Still, Elliot seemed confident in his buddy. "You're gonna be a natural. Don't worry. And look, there they are!"
Yep, that sure was a giant beast made of silver plates and pain Asher would be seeing soon. "Hello!" Elliot cheered, waving a little. "Here he is, the Renamon. That's our friend Asher. He's really happy to meet you! Asher, this is Ginkakumon. Say hi." Well, look at Little Mr. Social Micromanagement over here. But could anyone blame Elliot when he was so excited?

Hopefully, the spirit wasn't going to legitimately talk. If it was, there was going to be a problem. No way was Asher going to intentionally sync with a dead, talking thing! The thought, alone, was horribly discomforting! Either way, Elliot was painting really strange images, and Asher wasn't entirely sure how to take it. "Right. Asking someone out. Because, you know, I've done that before." Welp, that entire analogy just went soaring over his head.
And, why did Elliot always seem to have so much faith in him? Great impressions? Seriously? Either way, eyes narrowed at Isaac's comment. "Maybe next time, I'll be a dragon," he huffed, irritably. Stupid smaller people, becoming things that were actually somewhat cool.
Meicoomon and Asher shared an almost awkward silence, listening to Elliot's explanation. "Oh." Loading it? What? "Like I did with Renamon." Uh, no? "Right. About that. I didn't load anything onto my digivice? It kind of just came with her pre-installed." Was that weird? Suddenly, Asher was starting to think it was weird.
"How do you pick which Digimon you even use?"
So many questions, and way too little time!
Especially not enough time, when the Renamon found himself staring at Mr. Silver-Plates-And-Pain. Oh, jeez. Yeah, he was taking this guy's sister? That did not sound like a fun time. "Hello! I'm terrified!" Wow, that sounded surprisingly chipper! And entirely accidental!
Ginkakumon looked between Asher and Elliot, raising an eyebrow. "I'm sure you are." Weird kids were so weird. What was with humans, anyway? Was it excitement terror, or legitimate terror? It was really hard to tell with the tone that the Renamon had used. Not that Ginkaku really cared to analyse much. Either way, he held out a hand, with a golden totem in it. "I thought about it, and whatever you guys are planning on doing, just do it before I change my mind." Really? Was he just not willing to see Elliot's hard work get mucked up by a stupid teenager in a Renamon suit?

"That's next time. This time, please try to focus on the spirit you're actually getting. It's a lot harder to visualize when you get the lines tangled up," Isaac warned. He seemed to be talking from experience, judging by the minor frustration in his voice. It turned out when you needed Impmon's ability to fly, turning into Yasyamon was of absolutely no help. Especially when you were falling off of a cliff at this very moment. "And yeah, first one comes free. Second one, it'll load right in there once you get your hands on it. Or, at least if you focus on it hard enough.
You know how you do that data thing? It's kinda like that, but this time you actually have a physical focus to grab onto. The fact that it's in your hands and visible should make it a lot easier to work with, at least the first time," Isaac suggested. It seemed simple enough. He already envisioned taking code and putting it into his own body all the time. Now, he could physically wrap his hands around that code. It would be so easy!
Speaking of so easy, Ginkakumon was just giving it away. And here Elliot thought he'd need to make another heartfelt speech about friendship. The threat of that may have been why Ginkakumon decided to just give the spirit away, in fact. Still, Isaac gave Asher a friendly pat on the back, nudging him forward a little bit afterwards. "Alright, this one's all you. Remember everything we talked about."
"And don't worry too much! You're going to be fine, okay?" Elliot turned to Ginkakumon, bowing respectfully. "Thank you so much. I promise, you're not going to regret it," he said. With that done he sat down, uncapping a pen and getting to work on a few quick entries in his adventure guide. Now, what could he have possibly been working on?

While everyone else seemed to think this spirit loading thing sounded easy, Asher really had to disagree. "I don't like focusing," the teen hummed, lowly. It was too much effort! And, somehow, he always got distracted by space, instead. Or galaxies. Or... Hm.
Maybe he should be an astronaut. Ginkakumon cleared his throat, to get the Renamon's attention. He certainly didn't want any more heartfelt Elliot-time! It was just too weird for him. The oni had to deal with babies being weirdly sentimental for stupid reasons. He didn't want to have to deal with some random kid doing similar things! Were baby digimon just like young humans, or what?
Either way, Asher finally reached out to take the item, managing a grin and, "thank you." After all, it would be rude not to be polite about it! And, nobody wanted to be rude to someone that could absolutely crush them!
Turning the totem around in his palm a little, the young man let out a huff. Okay. Focus.
Yeah, no, this was stupid.
"Do I really have to do--"
Maybe the spirit, itself, had grown impatient. Or, maybe it was just easier to work with than the teen had anticipated. Light and coding flashed around the Renamon, wrapping closely and rapidly. Shifting shape, the cover of data would soon break, revealing the new form.
If Elliot had been gushing about buff before, he needed to look now. Or, maybe not. After all, fur had been discarded to minimal coverage, with armor only on the face, legs, and arms. Wow. That was weird. Trying to look down at himself, the teen clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth, nodding. "I can't see my feet past my bo--"
"Ashfur! Children!"
Was that seriously a word that needed censored by a cat?!

The bros nodded in approval as Asher took his new form, although each was currently restraining themselves from a far different reaction. Isaac was keeping a calm face even as he snickered on the inside, while Elliot found himself blushing brightly and trying to avert his eyes. Turning into a mostly-nude, buff as heck barbarian woman was a change very hard for the bros to ignore, even after all of the talk about not judging Asher for how his spirits would look. Nevertheless, considering if Ginkakumon didn't kick their sorry asses Asher would, they made sure to stay on their best behavior.
Still averting his eyes a little, Elliot started heading over to Ginkakumon. Sorry, Ginkakumon! The kid just really thinks you're neat! "Thanks again, Ginkakumon," he said, smiling. He offered a few, torn pages from his adventure's guide, smiling warmly. "I know its not the whole guide, but I figured I'd still at least give you a summary of my bro and I's adventures. I wouldn't want to leave the kids empty-handed, after all," he said. Perhaps if Ginkakumon looked at the back of the stack, he'd notice the last entry was about a brave, noble, and strong oni, who gave Elliot the most fun challenge he'd had since coming to the Digital World.
It'd probably be wadded up and tossed in the trash in the next 3 days.
Isaac, on the other hand, smiled slightly as he walked up to Asher. "See?" he asked. "I knew you had it in you. And on your first day in the Digital World, too.
So! How's it feel?" Probably quite womanly, still. Then again, at least Asher wasn't a furry this time. Maybe he'd be a little bit more comfortable as a more human form, even if now he had to deal with muscles on top of muscles.

Asher raised an eyebrow at the older of the brothers, adjusting a bat onto one of his shoulders. Oh yeah, just keep laughing. Remember who was able to beat the crap out of the other right now! But, Elliot was bright red and totally not looking at him! What was up with that? "Elliot," the Golden Oni hummed, trying to get the boy's attention. "How's this look? I don't have a mirror." Yes, force the sweet child to actually give input on this horrible form!
Meanwhile, Ginkakumon remained quiet, watching someone wearing his sister's skin in the most literal way possible. He wasn't sure if he should feel happy about seeing her, or just weird because it was not her. And, then Elliot was back showing interest, so he may as well suck it up. As long as he didn't have to adopt this child, too! Taking the pages, the oni looked them over briefly, though not enough to really notice what they're about. This was more Witchy's thing than his own! "Thanks," he mumbled, gruffly. Couldn't sound too appreciative, right? That would make him sound not-tough! And, in front of his sister, there was no way he was going to look like a softy!
Was it really that rare to get a spirit on the first day in this world, though? "It feels," the teen paused, thinking about it. Powerful? Feminine? "Breezy." Well, that worked too! Turning to look at Ginkakumon, the humanoid spirit flashed a grin. Yeah, this was nothing like trying to talk to a cute girl's scary brother. It was probably worse. "Thanks! I promise to," what's something that would make a giant brother happy about this? Well. Nothing. Asher certainly wouldn't be cool with it, if he were in the Digimon's place! "I'm sorry, I have no idea what I promise to do with this! I guess, uh, use this spirit a lot." That was close enough, right? He really couldn't promise anything further.
"Good enough, I guess," the oni grumbled, looking at the group. He really shouldn't expect much from humans. "How long are you people planning on just hanging around here? I got important stuff to do." What, was he trying to shoo them off now?
Then again, they had never really been warmly welcomed in. So, probably.

Asher, why! Elliot looked at Ginkakumon, a little bit nervous as he realized this was now going to be a publicly aired conversation. "Oh! Uh, you're, I mean, you look-" Crap, crap, crap, what did he even say to this? Eventually, though, he realized if he kept quiet for too long Ginkakumon would probably be mad at him. "Strong! Really, really strong!" Isaac, remembering how Elliot's marriage preference skewed in Fire Emblem, started smirking as he looked at the hapless boy. "With her power, you're going to make an amazing hero."
"We should probably get a move-on, though," Isaac said, looking towards the increasingly fed up Ginkakumon.
"Yeah. And we really need to get back home, too. Thanks again for having us, Ginkakumon! Have a great day!" Elliot chirped, waving merrily. He was at least able to snap out of that blush a little bit, focusing instead on saying bye to his new best buddy. He and Isaac turned to leave the compound, waiting at the doors for Asher and his Meicoomon to follow suit. Then, once the party was all together, it would be time to roll on out.
"Well, that went well," Isaac said to Elliot as they waited at the doors. "You did good for a solo mission, you know that? Guess I don't gotta worry about you sneaking off when I'm at work now, 'cause you can clearly take care of yourself."
"And leave without you? That'd suck!" Elliot protested. "We go as a team or we don't go at all. That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it.
Although . . . " Hell, now that they were out of Ginkakumon's earshot, he might as well say something. "Why does Asher's new spirit have to be so hot?" he whispered, whining slightly. At that point Isaac practically lost it, bursting into laughter. "Hey, don't look at me like that! Besides, what was I supposed to do? Say in front of a guy that his dead sister looks really cute?" he continued whispering, thankfully masked by Isaac's increasingly mirthful laughter.
Hopefully he'd regain his composure before Asher showed up!

The teen stuck his (her?) tongue out at Elliot's comment. Powerful. Sure, he'd take it. And, the answer didn't seem to cause Ginkakumon anything but pride, so it all worked out! "Yeah, yeah," Ginkakumon mumbled, trying to avoid collecting more 'children' for the compound. "Safe travels, and all of that."
Asher and his cat waited for Elliot and Isaac to begin leaving before turning to Ginkakumon. The Digimon moved to place both hands on the silver oni's shoulders, grinning. "I have no idea why I'm touching you, but I felt like I was supposed to!" That was mildly alarming.
Only increasing when Ginkakumon's expression rapidly flashed between endeared an irritated. Wow, this was confusing! "If you break my sister's body, I'm breaking you."
"I'm even more terrified!" The teen chirped, cheerfully. It was amazing how a single statement could lead to an urge to run away! And, that was the plan. Rigidly removing fingers from the other Digimon's shoulder, Asher turned and scooped up Whiskers, before bolting toward the entrance. Not staying there for a second more!
Catching up with the brothers, the golden oni looked at them, confused. "What're you laughing about?" It had better not be about his new 'outfit'!

"N-no, not at all!" Elliot said, blushing a little bit more. Sounded like somebody could use a drink of water, because Elliot sure was thirsty! "I was just telling Isaac this really funny joke. It goes like this; What do you call an actor who tries his hand at being a director too? A shooting star!" Get it? Because he's shooting the film now? That joke was atrocious, but out of love for his brother Isaac managed to force out another laugh. It helped that he could laugh at how awful it was, too.
"That's my bro. Just full of surprises," Isaac said, finally recovering from all of that laughter at Elliot's expense. "You wanna catch the next train home, or do you want to get a bit of training in first? We're not gonna rush you if you're not ready yet. I mean, hell, you've already been through enough today.
Like being locked in a murder box. Come to think of it, Witchmon and Elye had gotten quite quiet lately. Isaac was a little surprised to see that they didn't raise any stink when Ginkakumon just gave the spirit away. Part of him hoped they'd end up okay in the end. Part of him wondered if he should keep an eye out for an ambush. After all, anything outside of the walls wouldn't be under camp jurisdiction. Especially not an "unfortunate accident" directed at a quartet of annoying outsiders.
Ah, it would be fine. Probably. For now Isaac simply walked as he talked, waiting for Asher to respond.

Asher listened to the joke, confused. Sure, Isaac was laughing, but was it really that funny? "I don't get it," he admitted, with a smile. Oh well. It wasn't like he really cared to understand jokes about actors. He heard too many of them from people trying to legitimately be funny!
But, the teen felt kind of bad for not laughing for Elliot's sake. If only he could rewind time!
With the options given, Asher had to consider for a moment before answering. While it would be interesting to explore more, it might just be best to head home. After all, he really needed to just... throw up. Or something. Which wasn't going to happen as long as the spirit user was outside of his house!
"I think I'm ready to go home. As long as your Worm friend isn't there, this time." With any luck, he wouldn't have to worry about that too much! He just really wanted to hide in his room for the day!
