A Sinister Calling [Mission] [Ryouta]

Looks like Penny found something afterall? This secret room that leads to the training ground attacked back then is finally here, in front of them. Ryouta no matter what cannot hide his feeling of worry, though. Something like something inside of here would attack them. He turned around to Penny.
"...I don't like the feel of this," Ryouta muttered. "...Give me a sec."
He quickly pulled his Digivice out and tossed it above, then catch it as it shone brightly. Following the little trick, Ryouta now coated in slayer looking garb, although the design seem to be ninjalike, Ryu nowhere in sight.
"...Well, then, I'll watch your back, or your front, up to you. Let's be careful."

"Already expecting things to get messy? Well, guess that's a way of seeing it; time to get our hands dirty." The opening created by that passage seemed to go below, and it was dark. Like, really really dark; Penny had some issues on seeing through them, but those weren't that big of a problem. What worried her the most weren't the physical perils she'd face, but the possible revelations they come to learn along the way. What kind of dark secret could this place hide? And more importantly... what were them doing on this place?
The path had lead to a small, circular room in where... a comparably small brown-haired girl was laying unconscious on the floor, a pink hoodie hiding most of her features. She seemed to be hugging something, but her body currently made it impossible to look past it. Penny's gaze suddenly stopped at that, pretty much not believing her eyes. "How's this even possible?" Her voice wasn't directed at anyone in particular and was currently flooded by sheer befuddlement. "I think we're in for a long day."
Sighing, the Owryumon approached her, checking on her general condition. "Well, at least she's alive, if you cared about that. Now the question is... what do we do?"

"Human are squishy, Penny," Ryouta answered. "I'll probably won't have time to biomerge down there. So lest something wrong happened, best do this from the start."
He followed Penny... yes, it's a bit hard to see, especially it being this dark. His draconic pupils dilated to grow used to this sort of light... which luckily much better than when he's a human. He was ready for any sort of battle that would unfold, but... This one just most of all beyond his expectation.
"...Bloody hell," Ryouta muttered.. He quickly dashed to the girl's side and examined her. The pink hoodie and the brown hair already made him really worried that it was the one who he think who she is. The notion of trap sort of flashed in his mind, but he doesn't really care about that for now.
"....Is this who I think who it is?"

It was somewhat to be expected that Ryouta was surprised. Heck, Penny herself was surprised! This wasn't something she saw every day.
Well, it used to be something she kinda saw every day, but that was beside the point, gently, she turned the girl's body, confirming both her suspicions about her identity and about the bulbous digimon that she was currently embracing. "I think it's pretty obvious at the point that she is who you think she is." She said in a low tone, as if not wanting to risk her to wake up. "Question is, why she's looking like that? That's... a thing of the past."
Just like Ayaka being on her own; it took the Owryumon a while to repair on that detail, but after she did, no clues about Suzuran's whereabouts were found. Just Mana and Ayaka, or at least what looked like their past selves. "So... what do we do about them? This is super fishy, but we can just let the lay in this place, right? This could be dangerous." Maybe she was just too kind to leave a sleeping kid on her own while in a secret passage of a potentially dangerous place. That just seemed to be plain mean.

Ryouta looked at her visage... and yes, it's so nostalgic to the point that he teared up. How just he want to hug her and tell her that he's home... how he wanted to spend normal time with her as a couple again, dating and doing silly things... how he wanted to once again just laugh with her after a particularly tiring day at Digital World... He guess that it took a toll on him how messed up was his digital life for the last seven years digital world wise.
He stroked her cheek with the back of his fingers gently.
"...Penny, would you hear my theory?" Ryouta asked. At this moment, Ryu let his partner get whatever private matter he wish to do, at least until sign of battle is clear. "...This might be... her memories... and this is Ayaka's past data, and that's probably why she haven't really hatched. It's most likely that... *most* likely. However, as much as I felt nostalgic, I also can't shake off the fishiness..."
...then again, he don't have a choice.
"..........I know this is a bad idea, but... Can we wake them up?"
Ryouta willed his armor to turn into full body cloak and covered his visage. Something made him really reluctant for this Mana to see the him right now. if what he thought is right, then.... This Mana would only reminded of her painful past when he saw the him that looks even beefier than him. He don't want to be hated... not by his girl.

Penny, giving the topic the attention it deserved, and after the surprise wore off from this fortuitous encounter, just... shrugged. "Sure, if you want to wake her up, I'm not gonna try to deter you or anything; I probably wouldn't even if I tried. So, if you wanna do it... be my guest."
While those theories Ryouta had probably had some merit to them, Penny found them... pretty hard to believe, actually. "Why they would appear here, then? Of all the possible places, this doesn't sound like one any of them hold particularly dear to, you know? I'm pretty sure that this is a trick of some kind. It's like... too good to be true."
After saying those words, Penny decided to go ahead on her own, leaving Ryouta to his own thoughts; if he wanted to proceed with trying to wake up that idyllic apparition, she wouldn't stop him, but the dragon herself had better things to do at the moment, like... trying to discern where these tunnels led to. If anything, she was sure that, at the very least, Ryouta would protect that unconscious duo. Even if they were simple images or mirages, she was sure he would.

"As much as I can lift her easily, I don't like it if I don't have my arms free for battle just in case," Ryouta muttered. "That's why, I need to wake her up..." Then, in cue, he pat her cheek several times gently. "...Mana, Mana... Wake up. Wake up, Mana."
He hope that she would at least wake up... and at least would know from the voice that it's him. His voice haven't really changed afterall...
"...Well, it's true, but at the same time, remember when that Doumon casted the spell? It opened Mana's memory... so... it might be spliced here... might be. Afterall, this is the first place where we officially acknowledged our feeling to one another, so it's not exactly a 'place of no significance'... As much as it's a trick, we can just question her some stuff and determine whether she's real or not, can we?" Ryouta asked.
Then again, if she didn't wake up in fifteen seconds, he would lift her and follow Penny.

Guess that Ryouta's arguments were fair enough. Well, somewhat. "Do you really think a Perfect level has enough power to pull those tricks? That's... a bit unsettling, but not too incredible, I guess. I recall Ayaka telling me that Mana's own mind was a bit fragile some time afterward, but if that was the case, why the effects weren't observed right away instead of... a lot later? That bit just doesn't make sense and... I'm sure that "splice" isn't the word you're looking for when describing what happened there." Maybe split? Or scrambled? Anyhow, that was a being nitpicky; something that didn't matter at the moment.
Whether this was a trick or not wasn't within the dragon's own interests, though. "But as I said, I won't deter you; meetcha ahead, ar least if you still are in this small endeavor."
Still, when poked at, the girl laying the floor began to stir really really slowly. Well, that was kinda a given; Mana had always been somebody who took her sweet time at waking up. A soft yawn escaped her throat as she began to stretch her sore arms, that gesture ending with her hands going back to her face and rubbing her own eyes. "F-Five more minutes, please."
This would take a bit of time. At least, if there was any doubt about her voice not being her own, those must've been dissipated.

"...Well, that does makes sense... and it doesn't make sense for her to pull back any punches from the get go if she want to be successful in her mission..." Ryouta muttered. "...I guess this is another thing altogether... probably her psyche... well, I don't get it either, OK? Digital World is odd. I mean, I got two alternate selves of me that I dunno from other dimension, other reality, or just plain illusion by the Digimental." A weak protest, he know. But whatever.
To Mana's request of waking up in five minutes, Ryouta just chuckled. "I don't have five minutes sadly. Wake up now and I'll kiss you like the Sleeping Beauty you are." Cheesy as duck, but at this moment, Ryouta don't really care all that much. He lifted her and followed Penny just in case. "We're not at safe place though, so really, wake up."
Still, it's nostalgic to see his girlfriend that isn't a morning person... but at least he know that the voice belonged to her. Appearance, check... habit check, voice check. Almost as if trying to check whether it's her, he kissed her forehead through the fabric that covered his lower face.

Maybe mental gymnastics was the term Ryouta was searching for, but that wasn't something the dragon would say out loud. Guess that if he wanted to cling to hope, he was free to. The dark tunnels that extended below were, as expected, silent, but the mere existence of this network made Penny wonder what was the purpose of this place and why it was here in first place.
Still, "sleeping beauty" as she was so aptly called still seemed to refuse to wake up. "Th-that's so corny, you know?" Her expression changed a bit at the mention of this place not really being safe, though. For a second, she frowned before following. "I'll... be up in a bit." Maybe it would take her a lot, maybe it wouldn't, but at least for the time being, the girl seemed to return back to her peaceful rest.
On the tunnels forward, the Owryumon once again found what looked like a dead end. Maybe she'd get some answers after opening it? Getting to work, she began to search for the wall for something; whether a loose stone or a switch of sorts, maybe she'd find the way to unlock this passage. Hopefully soon.

"Yeah, it's so corny and you know I'm corny beyond belief when it comes to you," Ryouta commented, then pat her head. ... although he was utterly perplexed that she got the courage to go back to sleep again after this. "Now seriously, don't... don't go back to sleep again! I know you believe in me that I can protect you but this is too much! "
This somehow felt like a manzai no matter how you see it. All the tenseness that Ryu felt somehow melted when these two involved... at least for the meantime. They quickly met with Penny, Mana still on arm. Ryouta gently put her down, but he know he's quick enough to grab her in case something wrong happened.
"Dead end again?" he asked. "...Actually, maybe we can ask Ayaka this time around, don't you think?"
...Why did he wake Mana up and not Ayaka now? That's a bit stupid of him now that he think of it. "With her Geomancy, she could at least... understand the structure, right?"

More arguments, it surely felt a bit like blah, blah blah for Mana. "I...said I was getting up, didn't I? You just don't have patience with poor, little me..." In all honesty, it seemed a bit like she was sleeptalking, except for the fact that her words made perfect sense. This was a stark contrast with Ayaka, who was an utterly silently bulb at the moment.
As soon as Ryouta caught up with Penny, she gazed at him for a moment before returning to the task at hand. "Heh, I thought you wouldn't come. Seems like you managed to come to terms with the situation." Regarding his mention of a dead end, however, Penny shrugged. "Not for much. I'm sure there's a trigger somewhere... ah!" There, she had found the loose tile on the wall. "I don't know about you, but Ayaka seems to be awfully asleep for me. Trusting things of importance to asleep people doesn't sound that smart, does it?" And even then, she wasn't sure this was the real Ayaka. For all she knew, Ryouta could be walking them right into a trap. It just... didn't give Penny the best of feelings.
The next chamber was... strange, so to say. Resting on small blocks of wood, two rows strange, yet fairly sized vases stood. And, as always thus far... the room seemed to have no apparent connection to the next.

Ryouta just chuckled and stroke her head. "Fine, fine. I'm waiting."
Something is odd indeed, even he himself cannot shook it. Like someone playing with his nostalgia factor, especially because Ayaka is sleeping... like, really sleeping... If there's a clear indication that it's Ayaka, it's better, but... there's no clear indication whatsoever. He's somehow tempted to see whether there's a scar or not on her back.. but then again.... the new bodied Mana completely lacks it, doesn't she?
Ryouta of course carried Mana to the next room then sat her somewhere that he has checked to at least not booby trapped at all.
Vases now? Ryouta had no idea what it do, so he merely try to examine it without touching it the slightest. What sort of vase it is?
"...Penny, does the design or anything familiar to you?"

No booby traps in the room, at least where Ryouta dared to touch; Penny, on her stead, seemed to be way more reckless on this endeavor. Without hesitating, she walked over to the other wall and began to examine it. For all she knew, the vases probably were a distraction and didn't hide anything of value, except for the time they'd waste trying to discern what was inside there without not blowing up in the process. "Design? I haven't really seen it, nor I intend to do so? Why, have you caught anything interesting on them?"
The first vase within Ryouta's reach seemed to be made out of auburn clay, its surface depicting a glorious, yet bloody battle. If he tried to peer inside, he'd find it impossible to do so; almost as if the vase's contents had been shrouded somehow. The choice seemed to be pretty obvious at this point; either letting luck determine what'd happen, or just ignore the many possibilities the vases hid. In any case, Penny would keep on working on trying to find the switch to the next room, all while "Mana" and "Ayaka" were soundly asleep against the wall. Talk about heavy sleepers, huh?

"Because from what I heard from a close friend, in unknown place, especially ruins, pot can be some sort of clue as of what actually exist in a room. It could be something ultra disgusting, but at the same time also can be a clue to solve the room puzzle, you know?"
He examined the pot once more. It's some sort of glorious but battle. He very slowly spun it, trying to see the bigger picture, without trying to get his hand anywhere near the mouth of the urn... well, he know that whatever inside would less likely to make him become an amputee, but not that he dared to try immediately. That'd be too suicidal, even for he himself.
"...Penny, move a way a bit," Ryouta told her. Yeah, he don't want to trigger this with her close to the pot. He examined the other pots just in case, and spun them all in full rotation just to see what sort of mural placed on them. If this is real world, he'd probably suspect that inside there's decapitated head, shrunk and mummified waiting for him... But this is Digital World afterall, right?
