Pep Talk from the Fierce Cat [Eli]

It sounded like Shibe-sensei had a way better excuse than Elliot did. Seriously, Elliot, "he moved back to California to live with my dad, who totally hates him?" Every party involved knew that was bullshit, and Elliot was frankly amazed that his mom hadn't called him out on it yet. A special training camp would've made so much more sense, especially with paperwork and proof of the events that unfolded. Sure, he'd have to explain the discrepancy to his mom later, but he could always just say he was going to California to pull the necessary paperwork together. After all, the move to Shibuya was a little bit rushed. There had to be some important paper left behind, right?
Although, talent? "He doesn't really have anything," Elliot found himself saying offhandedly. Jeez, that's harsh! But it's true that of the two, Isaac was the one with far less of a current direction. Then again, he had slowly been poking at what might have been his future calling. "Oh! He's been trying to get into drama lately. I think he's been doing a really good job of it so far, so maybe we could say it's something like that?" It wasn't the sturdiest of foundations, but hell, it'll do for now.
The brilliance of the plan continued as the professor mentioned editing Elliot's voice to sound like Isaac's. "Like this?" Elliot asked, pulling out a not altogether terrible impersonation of Isaac. Normally he would've made a dumb joke, like "I hate everything that isn't Maia," but considering Isaac himself was gone it just felt dirty to do so. For now, he left that line of thought far, far behind.
It seemed he'd also be leaving school off of the hook, because Shibe-sensei had just given him free reign to go run off and have a good day. "T-thank you so much!" Elliot said in disbelief, bowing. "I promise, I'll be back way before the semester ends. I think I just need, like, a few days to handle this all. Promise!"
That last assurance made, Elliot turned to Karin. "So what should we do now?" he asked, the relief in his voice already palpable.

The two other people jawdropped at Elliot's sudden savage shot.
"...Oi oi, Eli... what sort of wild shot from the left field that is?" Karin asked. "That's a bit too cruel isn't it?"
"...At times that remark made me wonder if Sunderland have darker side to him that awaits to be released..." Shibe-sensei added.
Luckily, it can be amended. Drama is it? Hmmm, he nodded several times and took a paper. He wrote something really quick before handing another one to Eli once again. "Just so you know, I will contact you one day if I need your help to sort out the problem with your brother's excuses. For example like video feed or acting as stand in for him, so to say. Dougamon and Recomon will come in about two days, so just prepare yourself to meet me here."
Now that the problem has been sorted out, Karin just smiled to Eli and decided to...
"First of all,we'll be shopping for clothes. Because it's strange to wear student uniform when the school haven't ended yet."
"Ah right, you guys... about that, here... just in case there are patrolling police or something just show them this," Shibe-sensei gave them a small badge each. "None of the lower police force understand what is it, but they have should been briefed by their superior that the badge means you got free pass from the school to skip."
"Hee, can I keep this indefinitely?"
"Definitely not," Shibe-sensei answered while smiling darkly. "If you want to keep that, you need to make arrangement with me first. I'll take the badge back once your business is over and you can resume school as usual. Remember, we don't want you to get stressed, but we never encourages you to skip school without a good reason. Well, that's not important, have fun!"

Elliot blinked in surprise as he looked at Karin and Shibe-sensei's shocked reactions. What did he say? He just pointed out that Isaac wasn't really talented at anything. Okay, going over that again in his head, he realized how that could've taken badly. Immediately he blushed, trying to worm his way out of such poor word choice. "I-I didn't mean it like that," he stammered, somewhat nervous sounding. "I-I didn't mean it like that," he said, a bit of worry in his eyes that the two would get the wrong idea. "He just . . . never really pursued any talents much. Like, he wasn't really into sports or instruments, and he kept switching between interests on a dime. So he doesn't really have any big, refined talents he'd be getting special training for. Closest I can think of there besides drama is his parkour phase, and that's when he was twelve."
With that resolved, now they could focus on more important matters. Like excuses and video editing, for example. "The bad leg won't be a problem, will it?" he asked all of a sudden. "I can try my best, but there's always going to be just a little bit of a dip when I stand. So even if I'm filmed from the waist up, that might be a bit risky." It'd be better to be honest with Shibe-sensei than risk a problem later, after all.
Elliot took the badge with a smile, pinning it neatly to the collar of his uniform as he listened to Karin's first suggestion. "That's a smart idea," he said, pondering on the matter. "But I don't really have much money on me right now. Do you think I could stop at home and pick some up? Mom should still be at work, so nobody would catch me off guard around there." Somehow, I get the feeling that Elliot is missing quite the obvious hint here. But maybe by narrator's intuition is off.
He turned to Shibe-sensei as well, bowing in gratitude. "Thank you so much, Sensei," he said, smiling. "I swear, I'll use it responsibly."

"Alright alright, we heard you," Karin tried to made the boy less feeling awkward. Now that that already passed...
"Oh, the bad leg? No problem. We have measurement of Isaac's body. Dougamon can do the rest. All you have to do is just sit and talk as if you're Isaac. Then we'll deal with the rest, you see? Because Dougamon's ability let him to edit any videos, no matter how bad. Recomon meanwhile could change your voice to be like Isaac's. With these two, it's practically a high grade forgery."
Still, Eli is clueless huh?
"Who said you are going to pay? We're paying with mine," Karin took out debit and credit card. "It's my treat, so you should enjoy yourself and relax. We'll be going now, Shibe-sensei, thank you."
With this, the two's direction is clear. They're going to the Cat Street. Jeanne finally came out and turned on her holosuit and acted as the guardian for the two.
"My my, looks like we're in for fun aren't we~?" the holosuited Angel commented. "Let's see, what's the schedule?"
"First we'll buy some clothes then play at the arcade."
"Sounds great! Let's enjoy this to our heart's content~"

That made a lot of sense. Honestly, Elliot was surprised that Shibe-sensei needed him for this. With how sophisticated this editing technology sounded, they probably could've grabbed anyone off of the street and made them into an Isaac. Doing it with someone as close to Isaac as possible probably spared those Digimon from a world of stress. "I would love to see how that all worked one of these days. It's always really cool seeing Digimon in action," Elliot admitted. He wanted to learn more about the Digital World, after all, and something harmless like video editing was way less terrifying than the current associations he had with the Digital World.
Wait, Karin was paying? That wasn't fair! Clothing was expensive! Besides, she was already going out of her way so much for Elliot. He really didn't deserve this much attention, did he? Nevertheless, it'd be even less grateful to refuse a gift from someone trying to currently give him the world, so instead he bowed deeply. "T-thank you so much," he said, voice soft from how amazed he was by the offer. Someday, somehow, he was going to repay her for all of this. "I swear, I'm not going to forget this."
The two started their journey, although quickly two became three. Elliot smiled as Jeanne approached. "Hello, Jeanne," he said. Frankly, the difference between now and when the day started was astounding. It seemed as soon as Elliot's defenses were pierced, any of his discomforts crumpled like a house of cards. Karin had done the boy a massive favor by pulling him out of his head and onto this trip.
His eyes widened in excitement at mention of the arcade. Now there was something he was interested in for sure! There was a new pep in his step as he made his way to Cat Street, barely able to contain how relieved he was.

"Well, we need you, so you'll be there anyway, right?" Shibe-sensei commented. "These Digimons are slightly different than normal Digimons though. Normal Digimons doesn't have any too specific function like them and their power is more to magical, but these special Digimons instead could be used like applications, you see? Hence that's why they're called Appmon."
Still, Eli's shock was quite understandable. Karin just waved her hand to dismiss his thanks. "I need nothing of that sort. This is just a personal interest. Come now."
In the Cat Street, Karin... purposely avoided the cat cafe that he wanted to go to... she had to close her eyes as she saw a cat cutely paws at her, trying to attract her to come... It was really tempting, too tempting! But she cannot lose the image of a cool girl in front of Eli just yet! She decided to steer clear and walked to one of her favorite brand clothes store.
The theme of the clothes store is 'cool', and therefore, there are a lot of fashionable clothes here. Karin walked off to the female section after telling Eli that he should pick whichever he'd like.
"However... if it's less than 3000 yen and you're doing it out of concern to me, I'll be angry," Karin warned.

"Personal interest?" Elliot found himself quietly repeating. Just what did Karin mean by that? She was basically giving him the world on a silver platter today, and didn't even seem to think any thanks would be necessary for it. If this was the kind of thing that Karin was personally interested in, then Elliot was fairly convinced she was one of the kindest people that he had ever met. Still, judging by how she warned him not to skimp on the expenses, Elliot had the feeling that he definitely shouldn't be looking this gift horse in the mouth. It seemed, like it or not, he'd have to let Karin spoil him rotten today.
Unfortunately, the spoiling wouldn't be done by her hand. Now Elliot was forced to fend for himself in the wonderful world of clothes shopping. He had no maximum budget, no idea what he wanted, and not even a chance to go home and check his current wardrobe to see what needed updating. Then again, the answer to that was probably "everything." Elliot may have ended up the golden child in most regards, but when it came to clothes Isaac was the trendy one. As soon as the divorce happened, Cassandra was all too happy to indulge in what her son wanted, and Elliot was all too happy to step back and allow that.
Come to think of it, what size was Isaac, again? Maybe this could be a good chance to make things right.
He quickly turned to Karin, calling out to here before she left. "Before you go, any tips on stuff you think'd look good on me?" he asked, hoping to at least have some sort of tether to cling onto before he could start diving into the giant mass of clothing. Without a direction, he had a feeling he'd chance into the least stylish assembly of clothing possible.

"Yes, personal interest. Is it hard to accept?" Karin asked back. "I'm just doing stuff for personal desire. True altruism doesn't exist for me. I'm just doing this to satisfy my desire, no more, no less. It's just to make myself feel good. Do you understand?"
Then again, this is probably pretty much how she want to appear. She don't want to appear like she's doing this because she felt that he need to cheer up... She don't want to appear like she's doing this because she saw himself on him. If Sympathy is what it's called, then she guessed it's sympathy. However, according to the girl herself, she's merely doing herself a favor. To satisfy her desire is all about it. She's not doing this out of pure sympathy, but mostly because she feel this is something she must do.
"...Hmm, so you need my fashion tips? Well... Jeanne?"
The two girls immediately grabbed Eli's arms, one at each side. They lead him to the male section. While Karin is looking for the pants, Jeanne looking for his clothes. They settled at something quite fashionable, but instead of downright trendy, they preferred to give him slightly more innocent look.
the pants is baggy. To prevent him to get tangled by it, they decided to get the 3/4 length. The shirt is sleeved kind, but instead of long sleeves, they picked the shirt with double layered sleeves. They also picked a hooded vest for him, one that is colored black with white wing motif on the back.
"Might be a bit strange to wear this when you got hood, but..."
The gave him a cap too.
"Well look at that, ain't you dashing? Oh, go pick any shoes that you like," Jeanne told him.

Elliot nodded, listening as Karin tried to insist that she was totally doing this for herself and not for him. Maybe that was the case. Some people liked that kind of thing, after all, and she probably could've put Elliot in a metaphorical chokehold and forced him to do her a favor later. Even if it was the case, though, it was still one of the nicest things that anyone had done for him. Maybe this would be a bit damaging for her cool girl image, but Elliot gave her a quick, warm hug. "Well, whatever it's for, thank you," he said, voice very soft. "I think I really needed a day like this. And I know I was being a butt about it earlier, but it really means a lot to me you're doing this."
Yep! Not a bit of care for the cool girl image. Elliot was way too soft for that.
Of course, two very attractive looking girls picking Elliot up by the arms and parading him around probably did wonders for his cool image. Putting their heads together, Karin and Jeanne had whipped up one heck of a wardrobe for Elliot. He sighed in relief upon seeing that the pants were baggy. He really wouldn't be comfortable with anything skinny, due to the condition his leg was in. Baggy pants at least helped him hide it, making it only moderately incredibly obvious. The double layered shirt looked cool, although would it be a bit overkill with the vest? And would the hood on that be a bit overkill with the cap?
Oh well. The black and white on it looked really nice.
Elliot took his little ensemble into the changing room, taking a bit more time than most due to his leg. However, by this point, he was adapted enough to his leg to not drag on Jeanne and Karin's time forever. He came out awkwardly scratching at the fresh tag on his neck, but otherwise looking quite happy with himself. "How do I look?" Elliot asked, the slightest hint of shyness in his voice.

Karin was going to say "no hugs", but she can't fight it when it's too late! Shibe-sensei grinned like Cheshire Cat at the development, but Karin sent him a death glare, enough to made him instead cover his mouth to hide his widening (if it's possible) grin. Karin waved the thanks off, again, stating that she doesn't need any thanks or sort.
"Well, I know it's kind of overkill," Karin seem to agree that about his fashion sense. "....But here's the thing, that vest is sleeveless, so it's good enough for cold condition, and it got a lot of pocket so yay for functionality! Meanwhile the cap is in case you don't want to feel all your head like some baking oven in summer. Cap works better for that. That's my reason to pick them.
Anyway... you looks nice. It looked better on you than I thought. I'll go pick my clothes now, OK?"
Few minutes later, Karin returned with a tight jeans that is completely legless on the left side while full on the right side, longer boots, reddish pink t-shirt with black rose painting in what looked like abstract style (but not that abstract). She wears deattached sleeve on her left side and some bracelets on her right wrist. Karin of course wear choker and her cat hat that she didn't use as much anymore is on her head again.
"Well, then, what do you think?"

It seemed like Karin had read Elliot's mind on the subject of his clothes being a bit overkill. Still, despite the seeing redundancy each part of the outfit had a point. "Wow, that sounds really convenient," Elliot said, taking off the cap and admiring it a bit. It was the part he was most skeptical of, but at the moment it was the most stylish part of it as well. He had the feeling he'd be wearing it way more often nowadays, at least when not forced to wear a school uniform. And it all felt way less heavy together than Elliot thought it did, which was a surprise for how many parts the outfit had.
And hey, Karin actually thought he looked nice. Apparently Elliot cleaned up surprisingly nicely. "Aww, thanks," he said, smiling from the compliment. "I never really put much thought into this kind of stuff before, but now I really like how I look! I might start doing this kind of thing more often. When we get the money for it, that is." After a move to Japan, it was hard for the family to really have much else to work with. Their house was nice, if kind of cramped, but it took both Elliot's mom and Isaac working their butts off to keep everything going smoothly.
Karin proved she was great at picking outfits when she came back with her own set of clothes, too. Her choices were quite punk looking from neck to toe (speaking of, wow, that was a lot of leg), with the exception of the cat ears cheerfully plopped on her head. It was an interesting look, to say the least, but Karin pulled it off really well. "You look great," Elliot said, the very slightest hint of a blush lighting up his cheeks. What? She looked really good! "That rose looks awesome, especially."
However, Elliot found himself not quite wanting to leave yet, even if his own clothes had already been picked. "Do you mind if I pick up one more set, while I'm here?" Elliot asked. "I know, you've got a lot of cool stuff planned today. But I promise, I'll just need a few minutes!"
He had a plan, didn't he?

"Fashion isn't just for looks at time," Karin said, liking Eli's approval on clothes she gave. "It's also a mix of functionality and showing freshness. Imagine you only have one set of clothes to wear all time. It gets really boring fast. Human might invent colorful clothes just for styles, but remember, that style is important to not let things stale. Now and then, spoil yourself by buying stuff you love!"
Huh, what's that, a little blush? Karin grinned with a predatory grin and grabbed Elliot lightly on his neck, pulling him closer to her. "Blushing, Eli? You know, I'm a bit curious... do you have hots for older girls or something? Want this big sis make a man outta you?" she let it lingers for a bit before whispering "not that way".
But it's seem that Eli got something planned out. What would he get, she wonder? Well, financial wise, Karin is not short on money on any way. She's not rich, but she's sure on the upper of the middle wealthy type, so she consented to it.
"Just take your time, we have all day anyway... I'm sure Shibe-sensei can give us some free pass if you came home late or something. I got his phone number just in case, so..."

Karin was really good at advice, when push came to shove. Elliot rarely thought about treating himself, but it really must have been important for keeping people sane. Then again, for Elliot, one of the best treats was the smile on someone's face after being treated. Maybe Elliot was just in a giving mood, though, because he had totally promised himself that he would buy Isaac a little housewarming gift for when he got back. "That explains why Isaac's always changing up his outfits so much," Elliot said. "Maybe I should start taking a page out of his book there."
It turned out the worst thing anyone could do for a blush was call it out. Elliot's blush deepened a little when Karin called him out on it, but even worse was when she hooked him around the neck and pulled him in nice and close. Jeez, did she forget he had a bad leg? He had to quickly dig a foot in the ground to avoid being yanked too hard, because he had almost stumbled into quite a . . . sensitive area. If he was blushing before, what Karin whispered to him next had him blushing a bright neon red. "I-I," he stammered, trying to think of a way to even compile his thoughts while they were all racing so much. "I mean, you're really- but don't you have- I'm still just- what are you-"
Oh. Good. She said not in the way. Elliot let out a sigh of relief, glad to know that he wouldn't be tormented to death in the back of a clothing store. "R-right. I forgot how good you were at that," he said, his blush slowly starting to fade. If Karin was acting quick and feeling especially cheeky, though, maybe it wouldn't have time to go away.
Hopefully now they could walk and talk, because Elliot was ready to start picking out Isaac's outfit. A cool, dark red or burgundy shirt with black mesh on the sides, for example. Some matching black shorts with a ripped jean design. Not too ripped, though, or it'd be a major pain to wash. A slick looking white belt to tie it all together, adding a bit of contrast. A black bandanna to add a bit more accent, especially if Isaac started missing having one in his human form. And finally, a . . . black cat printed scarf? That didn't seem like it matched the others, but Elliot still included it in the selection he was currently assembling.
Yep. He definitely had plans.

"if it's Isaac, I bet he's also doing that to give some fanservice to Maia? Then again, it felt like he's the one who's more affectionate between the two," Karin remarked, chuckling slightly. "Then again, how crazed is Maia about him? Like, I never heard her saying it all that much, but Kuu on the other hand, sure does gushes out his love about you... Apparently, knowing you is some sort of instant great guy pass on his book."
Karin laughed out loud at Eli's reaction, definitely amused. "Gosh, you're so cute..." she finally released him and ruffled his head, then leaned down slightly, whispering so close to his ear. "Don't worry, little lamb... I won't feast on you~..." she pulled back, then licked one of her canine like a beast... one word slipped out, one that definitely send chill "...yet"
Jeanne was quick to the rescue... albeit it's actually a trap! She hugged Eli and buried him between her chest while stroking his head. "Arara, mistress, please don't tease him, look how red his face is! Just a little bit more push and he's a boiled octopus! Now, now, Eli... no need to worry, this big sis will protect you, alright~?"
"Honestly, you're more predatory than I am," Karin remarked, chuckling. "Don't trust the angel, Eli. That one is a devious angel."
Luckily they let him go after that and followed him. Karin approved his sense of fashion and let him pick... but of course it didn't miss her that there is that black cat printed scarf...
...Did Isaac loves cats or something? She was curious, but... let the boy have his freedom for now.

Elliot giggled a little at Karin's suggestion. "I mean, he's always been the more fashionable of us," Elliot admitted. "But since Maia, he has been taking even better care of himself than usual. One time, she said she was coming over on short notice. It was the fastest I've ever seen him clean his room." Hell, one of the only times! Although, was Karin calling Maia's love into question? "When Isaac was . . . lost, I saw something change on her," he added. "She was furious. And it was terrifying. I could tell she'd do anything possible to get him back, no matter how dangerous. I think that's one of the clearest signs of love there is, really. If you saw the look in her eyes . . ." Elliot shuddered just imagining it.
It sure is a good thing he was too busy being flirted with to wallow. The close whisper and licking of her tooth got Elliot blushing even more. Forceful girls were one of the only marks of Elliot's young, rather unformed type, and the boy almost found himself asking when yet was. Thankfully, he managed to restrain himself and say nothing, but the look on his face was a mixture of confusion, fear, and excitement. Karin had wrapped another one around her finger, even if he was quite the "little lamb."
Being pulled into Jeanne's chest and held there did not help at all. Elliot tried to look up to apologize, but due to his head being held down he could only manage to pry his eyes up to meet Jeanne's. Even then, though, his blush was obvious, as well as the slightly pleading look in his eyes. Sure, it felt nice, but he also felt so guilty about it! There was also tons of embarrassment from basically being used as their plaything, too.
Honestly, Elliot couldn't tell which was more predatory. This would be quite the interesting day.
By the time he got to the counter, he put up everything but the cat scarf. "Oh, don't worry. I'll pay for this one separately," he said, hoping Karin wouldn't object.
After all, it'd be rude making her buy her own gift!
