MPC#41: Summer Vacation
# of MPCs Taken This Month: 1
As stated before, today Cion would do nothing...
After all, doing nothing was far more than just simply doing nothing at all. It was relaxing your body and mind after many weeks and months of strenuous everyday life and charity work. After all the victories under her belt, like protecting a village and saving a forest, she felt like she earned it. Besides, if she would not rest every now and then she would suffer burnout or even collapse at a critical time. Both events were without saying preferred to be avoided. And while Owen sought another way to revitalize, Cion was most content with doing nothing at all. Even if it was only for one day.
Lying on a deck chair, the Arnamon barely moved a single muscle. The sun stood high in the blue sky, shedding estival warmth upon the digital world. Not a single cloud tainted the canopy, making it a truly gorgeous sight to behold. The sand beneath Cion was white and soft, hence dragging her fingers over it was like a little massage. Briefly tilting her head upwards, the beheld the sun's light reflecting in the water of the beach's sore like little sparkles, delighting her. Still, this was a day of rest, which was why she leaned her head back into the pillow.
With sunglasses sitting on her nose, she often had her eyes closed while daydreaming. If she was not going to do anything, she might as well revel in her own nostalgia. Fondly, she remembered the first time she had encountered her beloved Owen, and how the two of them had vanquished Shadramon together. Back then, they could not have possibly known that their bond was not only of this life, but many more before. Still, their relationship had changed and had yet to blossom. She was not sure what to think about it, but...
Cion murmured and opened her eyes before letting out a sigh. Sitting up, she violently shook her head to get rid off the uncertainty that plagued her subconscious. She and Owen were family, that was all that mattered. They were happy together, and as long as she believed they were they would be. Besides, things would not be different if their relationship had a different title to it. They lived together, cooked and cared for each other, enjoyed the occasional snuggle, and best of all enjoyed each other's company. That was perfectly fine, right?
Giving herself a little slap on the forehead, she grabbed her glass of ice-cold malt beer and drank some of it through a straw. Sighing with satisfaction, she savored the chill on her tongue and in her throat. Nothing calmed down her spirit better than something delicious or a tune on her ocarina. And while she could not be bothered reaching out for it and play it, more of delicious goods sounded just perfect. She had not brought nothing with her though, hence she looked around for a nearby snackbar.
Eventually, the Arnamon spotted a traveling ice cream seller, an Icemon to be precise. Winking him over to her, she ordered a medium cup filled with dark chocolaty delectability. The freelancing merchant was of course glad to had a new customer for his exotic variety and wished her a good day before leaving again. Smiling, Cion leaned against the deck chair's backrest and held her spoon tightly. The first bite was the best, a flavor-surge of sweet and bitter harmony refreshing her. Creamy and sizable, she took her time eating her dessert, only covering the tip of her spoon with each immersion.
The Arnamon heard something collide with her deck chair, though it lacked the force to give her a good shaking. Tilting her head to the right, Cion saw the volleyball that was responsible for her being distracted. Removing her sunglasses, she noted a couple of Rookies and In-Training's waving at her, hoping she would kick the ball back to them. "Kids and their endless energy." She calmly spoke under her breath. Engulfing the ball in a faint golden aura, she made it hover over the sandy ground with a very weak form of her 'Translucent Cage' ability.
With a flick of her wrist, the volleyball whizzed back whence it came. This ability impressed the kids greatly, but since Cion visibly desired peaceful privacy, they returned to their game. Briefly watching them, she put on her sunglasses again and shifted her gaze back to her bowl of ice cream. Unfortunately, most of it was gone already and the rest had become a sticky liquid. Successfully tossing it into the next trash can, she simply shrugged and lied down again. While not as delicious as dark chocolate, a soft pillow had its own comforts as well.
Closing her eyes yet again, Cion tried to think about more positive memories to daydream about. One of them was her first ride with Colin's Blimpmon. Of course every moment together with him, Bellamy and Luke had been splendid, but her first flight had truly been something special. She remembered how Blimpmon traversed through the clouds and above the firmament. From above, everything looked like ants, although she would never dare to crush them. The view had simply been to gorgeous and she wished no damaged inflicted upon it. Considering that, perhaps this was a hidden motive why she had helped saving that one forest with the others. It was already a long time ago, but it made sense to her.
But her mind digressed yet again. She did not want to think about conflict and challenges, only bliss. Like the time she had cooked a gratin for a cooking show, or when she was briefly stuck in her most favorite hated videogame. Those were pleasant memories indeed, even if they had been quite weird. She wondered how the show and the company was doing, wishing them the best of success. She could find out herself of course, but she hated newspapers. They were all sticky and filled to the brim with white lies, hence she did not trust them much less their creators.
Feeling tiredness creeping into her system, Cion stretched himself and yawned openly. Surely, so secluded from the rest, nobody would consider it disrespectful. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up and was surprised to see the amber scenery in front of her. The once skyward sun was now at the verge of the horizon, indicating that it would be night within the next hour. "How long did I sleep?" She wondered, bewildered by the skip of time. Then again, she had not felt this rejuvenated in months, so who was she to complain? She had accomplished exactly what she wanted, which was nothing at all.
Getting up from her deck chair, she bagged all her belongings in her backpack. Taking in a deep breath as to relish the salty coast-air for one final time, she left the sandy ground. Walking up long, marble stairs, she found herself at a main street that was surprisingly empty. Perhaps doing vacation around this time was not typical, though ultimately she did not care for the reason of the silence. She waited for a while until a Taxi finally arrived to pick her up. It would return her rented holliday home so she could have a serene, long sleep. A tomorrow, she would spend hours marching through the digital world on her own, only her own mind joining her.
"Doing nothing is great."
