"Did you ever buy one of those Digi-Port things?" Or, were those exclusive to functioning in Japan, too? Asher wasn't really sure. He had forgotten to buy one before going overseas! That would have actually been a good idea to test, now that he was thinking about it. Maybe next time he was in America, he'd remember to buy the upgrade beforehand to test it!
Reaching a hand up, the man lightly brushed red hair out of his face. "Should I have dressed better?" Maybe Asher was under-dressed here! Maybe he could fix his hair in the car, or something? No, that was dumb. It was too late for today's first impression, anyway!
Once in the driver's seat, Asher tapped an address into his phone, before finding a place in the center console for the item. A small robotic hum emitted from the item, a feminine tone stating, "Turn right at the next..."
Yellow eyes flickered at Elliot, before pressing his feet down on the vehicle's clutch and brake. "Seeing you is more important than any plans I could have had today," he chimed, while turning the car on, "I picked the days, anyway. Remember?" Asher either didn't notice that Elliot had messed with the seat, or he just didn't care. It wasn't like the redhead was ever in his own passenger seat! He didn't care how it was positioned!
Pulling away from the apartment, Asher clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth. "What have you been doing?" he deflected, casually. Surely, the man would answer eventually, right? But, right now, he was far more focused on getting from Point 'A' to 'B' without getting lost! It was way easier to listen than to think about everything he'd been up to! Not that Asher was going to admit that he was concerned over getting lost during such a short drive!

"I did. But no matter where I tried to open one, it only went back to Shibuya," Elliot said. "I wanted to check before I went to California, so I experimented with trying to go to other parts of Tokyo. No matter where I plugged in coordinates, I could only get to the outskirts of Shibuya. I figure even if I could get to the Digital World with one of those ports, I'd end up stranded in Shibuya with no way of getting back home." Maybe the first time, his mother would've paid the plane ticket and dismissed it as a mistake. Now that Isaac was freed from his terrible fate, she was surprisingly cool with the Digital World stuff. However, he didn't want to put his poor mother through even more debt on his behalf.
Wait, did his own worrying make Asher self conscious? That was the opposite of what he wanted to do! He shook his head quite quickly and insistently. "No way," he said, voice firm. "You look perfect the way you are." Wait. Perfect. Was that too strong of a word? No, no, he totally meant perfect for this restaurant. That was exactly what he was thinking.
If Elliot thought his words were too much, he thought Asher's words definitely were. "W-wait. Really?" he said, shocked. Asher's co-worker's little brother was more important than seeing old friends and family? How? "That," he said, pausing, trying to think how to interpret words that he had never heard before. "That really means a lot to hear. Thank you."
Apparently he was so interested in Elliot, he didn't even want to talk about himself. Elliot was a little miffed, considering that he had totally asked first, but he knew better than to debate Asher on these things. "Not much, really," he said. "I mean, since graduation's coming up soon, I've just kinda been relaxing and waiting for that last day to arrive. It's kind of weird, still being in school but having no work to do. Makes me wish I had just . . . something to work with, you know?
Next up for me's trying to figure out where I'll live, of course. And once I've got that sorted out, work. I mean, there's so much stuff to consider . . ." At least Elliot hadn't been completely sitting on his hands lately.

Well, that was really weird. "At least if you want to visit home, you only need to pay the ticket to come back to the U.S.," the redhead mused. That was such a good idea, actually! Now he really needed a digi-port! On top of that 'great' idea, and the fact that he apparently looked perfect, Asher was quite content with how the day was going so far! He didn't even think for a second that the wording could be weird!
"Yeah," there was slight hesitance, trying to figure out what was going on in Elliot's head. Why was he being thanked now? "I mean, I haven't seen you in forever. What could be more important than that?" Friends and family always were top priority, after all! It wasn't like Asher was just neglecting anyone else he knew, just to see Elliot, anyway. Most of his friends, that were in locations he could logically visit at least, were all a lot closer to his current residence! That made them far easier to see whenever he wanted!
Relieved that Elliot was willing to talk about himself for the ride, Asher split his attention between the college student and his GPS. Prioritizing the road, of course! "You're probably supposed to spend the free time with your college friends," the man suggested, thoughtfully. After all, some of those people probably lived in completely different states!
Tapping fingers on the steering wheel, Asher tried to think of what to ask first. He wasn't really sure what kind of job Elliot was even going for! But, that didn't seem as immediately important as, "are you thinking of staying in America, now? Or, do you plan to come back to Japan after this?" After all, that was entirely relevant to where Elliot would even apply for a job! But, what would his family do if their youngest member decided to live in a different country than them? What would Isaac do?

"That's true. If I can even open the portal from here, of course," Elliot said. "I'll admit, I haven't really tested it. I'm a little scared of what might happen if it goes wrong. Heck, if the Digivice can't handle the strain of such a long connection, I'm afraid it might break down. That would be really bad for all of the spirits living it. I think. Or maybe it'd give them peace? Still not much closer to figuring out how this all works . . . " It was clear from all of these rambling hypotheticals that Elliot was at least giving this kind of subject thought, instead of just letting the subject fade alongside his time in the Digital World.
Now, Elliot being the most important at anything? That was something he had never thought of! He resisted the urge to say "basically anything" as he tried to think what better stuff Asher could be doing. "Seeing old friends, or family," he suggested. "I mean, I bet you know so many cool people that'd love to spend a ton of time with you." They'd certainly be more deserving of it than Asher's co-worker's kid brother, an important degree of separation that stopped Elliot from truly feeling like an equal part of the friendship.
"Oh, I've been seeing them, when I can," Elliot said. "I don't have many I'm, like, especially close with, but I'm still making sure to cherish the time I have with everyone. A lot of them are already leaving for vacations, though. I don't think they're too invested in having their names called for graduation." It was a strangely common trend these days, but other than finding it a little odd Elliot didn't begrudge them for it. "Weird to think in another week, all of us might never see each other again. Especially if I end up going back to Shibuya."
Asher had beaten Elliot to that question, but it was definitely a hot-button issue on his mind. "I . . . I don't know, yet," he said. "I miss everyone back in Shibuya, and my Japanese hasn't even rusted that much. And it would put the Digital World back on the table, too. On the other hand, California's been my home again for the last four years. I've been meeting lots of people here, and the job opportunities haven't been half bad. And then there's the fact that I'm not even sure what I want to do yet, so I'd need to compare the job climates of wherever I'm going. I know I could probably crash with my mom back in Shibuya, or take a few roommates here, so I'm not too worried about housing. I think. It's hard sometimes."
Elliot certainly had a lot to say, that's for sure!

Elliot certainly had put a lot of thought into all of the bad things that could happen with a Digi-portal, didn't he? That really shouldn't be all that surprising! "Maybe you'll figure it out someday," he suggested, with a shrug. Asher certainly wasn't going to be the one to figure out the mysteries of Digimon and their devices! That was just too difficult!
It was for the best that Elliot hadn't said what he was thinking, lest Asher stop the car in the middle of the street to correct him! Instead, the man exhaled, while turning into the restaurant's parking lot with perfect timing. Once the car was parked, he shifted to face Elliot. "Yeah. You," he emphasized. Elliot was plenty 'cool' and clearly wanted to spend time with him! Didn't that count for anything? "The friends that actually live here, live a lot closer to L.A. than you do. It's easier to see them whenever I'm free," he explained, "and I've seen my grandma a lot since I came back. My mother's the only other family in California." Pulling the key from the ignition, he shoved the item into his pocket, "so, I'd think that makes seeing you a priority. Do you disagree?" Probably. But would Elliot admit that?
The idea of skipping out on graduation seemed kind of strange. Who didn't show up for their name to be called for that kind of thing? Asher was fairly unfamiliar with the entire process, but it seemed weird to put that much effort toward something, just to miss some of the experience.
Shifting to step out of the car, the redhead waited for Elliot to be in earshot again before continuing their conversation, and stepping toward the restaurant's door. "Do you want the Digital World back on the table?" After all, the college boy had gone through quite a bit with that world! It was understandable if he'd rather just avoid it altogether. "What kind of job are you looking for, anyway?" Without having a clue, it was a little hard to have input on the subject! Surely, Asher had been told at some point when Elliot was applying for colleges, but he couldn't be expected to remember over four years! Plus, it could have changed since then!

"I think I might give it a test after graduating," Elliot said, pensively. "I was considering coming back to see everybody anyway. So just like you said, at least it'd save on a plane ticket." Elliot still didn't have much faith in it working, considering how tied Shibuya seemed to be with the Digital World. What would be the harm in trying, though? Once he had all his ducks in a row, it'd be little more than an experiment.
Cool and Elliot were not adjectives that went together. The boy seemed stunned by Asher even implying such. Nevertheless, he tried to hold onto his shock, settling for smiling bashfully. "Thank you," he said, voice soft and warm as he tried not to blush too hard. That said, it made sense that Asher had tackled other, more important priorities first, too. With friends and family already being visited on the regular, it made sense that when the dust settled Elliot was the main loose end left hanging. "Nah. I think you're right," Elliot added, clearly a bit more relaxed now that he realized he wasn't imposing. "And I'm really glad you thought of the idea, too. I've been missing you." About time he finally said that, instead of just letting it hang on a deleted email.
Elliot followed after Asher, making sure mentioning the Digital World wouldn't be in front of the wrong ears before continuing to talk. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "I mean, I've definitely gotten rusty about handling it. And it was pretty terrifying going there a lot of the time. But I also met a lot of really cool people there, too, and it'd be weird not supporting them. The spirit user thing doesn't really help much. Like, I have these powers not many others do. So I feel kinda obligated to use them for good, even when it's scary or painful. And the other reason . . ."
He took in a breath, as if crystallizing a decision. "If I go back to Shibuya, I might want to study it, too," he said, confidently and clearly. "I'm a lot smarter now than I was back then. And I've always been really curious about how the place worked. I was wondering if maybe I'd be able to go in and really start figuring everything out. It'd certainly be helpful if the secret ever broke, and until then I could probably get a job with AEGIS for all my hard work.
Other than that, I'm not really sure. Some sort of research, but I'm still looking for the topic that grabs me." That said, he fell in step with Asher, quite excited to get a chance to eat.

Wait, Elliot was actually considering that plan? "Yeah. Better not try it before graduating." Wouldn't it suck if he ended up stuck in the Digital World for a while, and missed his own graduation? Wait. Was Elliot's family going to show up for the event? "Isaac and your mom are coming for your graduation, though, right?"
Oh, had he embarrassed the college boy or something? The tone didn't seem quite like it, but Elliot looked like he might be blushing a bit! Maybe it was just the lighting. Just like how maybe it was the lighting that made Asher's face appear dusted in pink. Then again, maybe, it was the lack of oxygen, as the redhead held his breath for far too long. While Asher would have normally been quick to argue on who thought of what ideas, he froze at the next statement. Missing him? "What?" Asher tilted his head, pretending he hadn't caught that last part. It was totally normal for friends to miss each other, wasn't it? That idea really hadn't crossed the man's mind until now! He definitely needed to work more on the concept of up-keeping friendships, it seemed.
Trying to keep focus on what Elliot was talking about, the man gave an occasional nod to indicate that he was listening. None of the conversation really struck him as surprising, when thinking on it. Elliot had always been pretty interested in the way the Digital World worked! And, the kid always had this strong sense of justice, or whatever, that made him be such a good person. "Research sounds like a good subject for Digital things," he hummed, after a moment.
Reaching the door of the restaurant, the man pulled open the door, waiting for Elliot to enter before he'd follow after. Once addressed by the host, the redhead provided his reservation details, and soon they were off to be seated toward the side of the room where they were away from some of the busier tables. After the duo would be seated, Asher would continue their conversation. "Have you already started applying places, or are you waiting until you decide where you're going to live?"

"Yeah. That'd be a total mess," Elliot said. "Mom and Isaac are totally coming, too. Even if it means we've got a lot of plane tickets going out at once. It's worth it in their eyes, though. They said they wouldn't miss it for the world." Elliot thought for a second, wondering if he should say what else was weighing on him about graduation. Maybe in a more roundabout way, but there was no chance he'd admit it outright. "I mean, they're really all I have. So it's important to me that they're making the trip."
Was Asher blushing too? No, that had to be a trick of the light. Elliot wasn't even going to consider that, honestly. It was just far too outlandish. Instead, he focused on hearing what Asher had to say. In this case, it was just one question. Did that mean Elliot had to elaborate? Oh no. "Well, yeah," Elliot said, smiling softly. "How could I not? You were always so fun to be around, and really cared about what I had to say. Never failed to make me smile. It was really nice. So, thank you for that." Elliot was amazed he managed to get all of that out, but it was nothing but the truth.
At least now they could move on to professional matters. "It really does," Elliot agreed. "I mean, how the heck does most of this stuff work? Where do we get the energy to transform from, without getting super hungry? I have some theories, but I'd need a lot more time and experience to figure it out . . . " It seemed like Elliot was really interested in the subject. Was it seriously jut a bit of fear holding him back?
Their table was a bit secluded. Elliot was usually used to eating surrounded by people, but this was a nice change of pace. He settled a little in his seat, making sure to sit directly across from Asher so he could focus on their conversation. "I figure I'll keep tabs on opportunities, but won't commit until I know where I'm going. I don't want to take my dream job, only to find out I hate living here," Elliot explained. "It's why I'm hoping to visit Shibuya again soon. Remember what I'm missing.
Anything on the menu catch your eye? I'm not sure what to have today," Elliot suddenly added. With Asher paying for him, Elliot totally knew what he was getting; the least expensive thing on the menu!

It was definitely a relief to hear that Elliot's family was going to make the trip for his graduation. "Good." It would be really depressing if the college student wasn't going to have anyone there to support him! At least this meant that Asher wasn't going to have to arrange for some free days around Elliot's graduation to make sure he wouldn't be alone. That would have been a hassle, and probably would have embarrassed the graduate!
Mulling over what the younger man was saying, Asher glanced around. Weird. Elliot was just a weird person, wasn't he? Or, maybe considerate? It was really hard to tell what the right words were for him! "Hm," the redhead hummed, thoughtfully, before commenting, "well, I missed you too." That was the right way to respond to that, wasn't it? It wasn't a lie, so it had to be acceptable! Uh, hopefully, at least. The only person that ever said they missed him was Piper, and the best response to that was playful mocking! But, teasing Elliot wasn't really the best option in this speech-check, was it?
Of course, he was sure to fail anything about Digital World logic. "I just kind of assume it's magic." That was the easiest way to avoid a headache on the subject! "If I'm in Japan and you need help with your research, I can try to lend a hand." Surely, Asher wouldn't be of much use, but he figured he'd throw the offer out there! After all, the Digital World had probably changed quite a bit since Elliot had been there! Heck, it had probably changed quite a bit since Asher had even been there, and that had only been a few months! But, seriously? 'Super hungry' was a concern of Elliot's on this whole subject? What hilarious curiosities!
An amused smile remained on the redhead's lips, while listening. Once seated, he began to glance over the menu while Elliot talked. The thought that the college student might not want to sit away from the more crowded areas hadn't even crossed his mind. People liked their privacy, didn't they? "You could find someplace else in America to live, too," he suggested, offhand. Maybe jobs were better elsewhere! Who knew?
Tapping near the top of the menu, the man shrugged. "I'm thinking about getting an appetizer. Do you want to share anything? They have mozzarella sticks, or calamari, or," what did Elliot like, anyway? Asher couldn't really remember anything in specific. More importantly, the redhead always felt that calamari was a strange appetizer. Who decided that it should be one? And, how many people actually ordered it, or found it appetizing? What mysteries!
"For the meal, though, I don't know. It's a steakhouse, so maybe steak?" Surely, Elliot would find that his options for 'cheap' would be relatively limited. Asher wasn't going to take him to someplace with fast-food prices! "You should pick something that you don't normally get," he commented, while eyes lifted up from the menu to stare at Elliot. "It's kind of like we're celebrating, after all."

Asher seriously missed him? Then again, Elliot was also apparently priority to visit, so maybe Asher held him in higher esteem than Elliot ever figured he'd be worth. Instead of trying to argue it, he simply embraced it, a slight blush slighting up his face. "Well, I'll make sure to visit you whenever I can, then," Elliot said somewhat shyly. "You know, you could come to my graduation too. I-if you wanted, of course. I mean, I wouldn't want to impose or anything . . ." he suddenly added, trailing off slightly.
Elliot didn't expect that Asher would lend him a hand. Especially when he started with the attitude of 'eh, figured it was magic.' Nevertheless, knowing that somebody had his back put a smile on Elliot's face. "Thank you. I'll make sure to let you know if I try getting that into motion," he said, voice relieved. Although . . . if? "Are you planning on going somewhere else?" Elliot asked, a touch of worry in his voice. He really wanted to see Asher again. If Asher wasn't in Shibuya, would they even be in the same place anymore? Sure, California was a likely second option, but California was really big.
Maybe Asher was considering somewhere else. "In the future, maybe," Elliot said. "Right now, I want to stay where there's people I know. That way I know the area, and maybe have a cheap place to live. Plenty of time to explore when I'm older, right?"
Appetizers. Appetizers were always good. Elliot nodded eagerly when asked if he wanted to share anything with Asher. "Calamari's great," Elliot said in the world's biggest bout of irony. "If you'd like. I know, it isn't really for everybody." A hasty addition, but Elliot knew not everyone was interested in food that still had suction cups on it.
. . . Right. His earlier question was kind of stupid, wasn't it? Elliot blushed a little, face hot as he quickly looked back down at his menu. His menu full of steak. At this steakhouse. Although Asher was right. With this kind of celebration, maybe he could really go a bit extravagant with it. Like getting steak with shrimp on top of it. Oooh, that was the best! "Yeah. You're right," Elliot said, shaking off some of his embarrassment. "And if I'm gonna be celebrating this with anyone, I'm really glad it could be you."

If only Asher had any idea of what was going on in Elliot's head. Giving a small smile, the redhead was going to tell Elliot that he didn't need to go out of his way to see him, but instead found himself being invited to the college boy's graduation. "Sure. Just e-mail me the day and time, and I'll go." The words had slipped out before Asher even had time to process what he had said. Oh well, too late to take it back now. With any luck, he wouldn't have already made plans for that day!
It was a little bit of a surprise that Elliot would be willing to let Asher help out on his research in any way. But, at the same time, it wasn't. Was Elliot even capable of declining something like that? Even if the younger man was bad at turning down offers, he certainly wasn't unobservant. "Where would I be going?" After a second, he processed what, exactly, had triggered Elliot's question. "I mean, I'm not in Japan right now," he pointed out. "I'm just bouncing between Los Angeles and Shibuya." Maybe that would ease Elliot's worries of never seeing him again! Or not!
Okay, well, apparently some people found calamari appetizing! Weird. It was almost like Elliot was built to contradict him! "I haven't tried it since I was a kid," Asher smiled, continuing to skim the menu. Child-Asher hadn't been a fan, but he also didn't like the idea of raw fish back then. After living in Japan for a while, it seemed his tolerance for varying foods had definitely become better. "We should get it." Worst case, he'd just pretend to like it and hope that Elliot ate most of the appetizer!
Watching Elliot bury his face back into the menu, the redhead raised an eyebrow. Sentimental word choices had never really stuck with Asher. "Why?" Then again, remembering when to keep his own mouth shut hadn't always been his strongest suit, either. Instantly, he realized that he hadn't actually intended to question why Elliot would want to celebrate anything with him! Oops! "You could be celebrating with a girlfriend, or something, instead." Maybe that was a bad way to cover it up, but close enough!

Too late, Asher! Elliot was already beaming at the promise. "Thank you," he said, a small smile spreading across his face. "Here. Lemme write it down for you." Elliot took out a pen and gently eased off a section of napkin. With that done, he included the date (June 18th), time (9:30), and Stanford's address, as well as his number for contact. It was a gesture he didn't really think too much of. After all, Asher would want to reach him, right? Nevertheless, once everything was settled he passed the information along to Asher. "I'm really glad you can make it," Elliot said. "Unless you're busy of course. If you've already got plans I totally understand, with this being so impromptu and all."
At least Asher was also currently bouncing around between two different lifestyles. It made Elliot feel a little bit less lost. "Oh wow. That's a lot of travel," he pointed out, hoping that jetlag whiplash wasn't hitting Asher too hard. "What's it like going between the two so much? Is it for business, or just for fun?"
Asher was willing to try calamari? Awesome! "Sounds good to me!" Elliot said, figuring figuring he'd stick to calamari alone instead of going for the mythical double appetizer. Those were usually big enough for two, right? And it was a lot less expensive that way. "That and a big steak should be nice and filling. Although, I'm always curious about what's on the dessert menu . . ." Elliot's voice trailed off, somewhat hungrily. Was he seriously trying to plan his entire meal right now?
Thankfully, Asher brought Elliot back down to Earth with a rather personal question. As soon as the subject of girlfriends was breached, Elliot started to blush softly. "I . . ." he started, wondering just how the heck he was going to phrase this without Asher thinking less of him. After all, Asher could probably have anyone in the world he wanted. "I can't say I had too much luck with that at college. Or at least, not really anything long-term." He was really hoping that cat wouldn't be coming out of the bag. Why did he have to be so honest?

Watching Elliot write down the information, it seemed pretty apparent that the college student was excited that Asher would be attending. No backing out now! Looking at the information, he clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth, trying to recall if anything important was slated for that day. "I don't think I do," he shrugged, making sure to put the little note away before he could lose it. "And, if I do, I'll still be there." Surely, whatever could be slated for that date could be cancelled. Anyone would understand that graduations didn't happen every day!
Pausing again from reading the menu, the redhead glanced around while thinking about his flights. "They're not bad," he decided, with a smile, "it just takes some getting used to." The only real problem was crying babies. Anything else, the man could handle just fine! "Mostly business. My grandma likes the company anyway, though. She turned, like, eighty five a couple of months ago." It was best to take opportunities to visit her as they came, and if he had enough free time and money, he may as well!
The idea of a dessert menu hadn't even crossed Asher's mind until now. Raising an eyebrow, the man glanced back at the list. "Are you going to have room to eat everything?" He had clearly forgotten that Elliot had a stomach that could be compared to a black hole. Of course he was going to have room for dessert!
Feeling a bit of tension, he paused his debate on if he really needed to consider desserts right now. This time, Elliot's blush couldn't really be mistaken as a trick of the light, so the redhead began to grow concerned. Oh, hopefully Elliot wasn't about to ramble on about some girl he was with, like Isaac had a tendency to. But, it seemed quite the opposite. Elliot didn't have any luck? "Really?" That was a little hard to believe! Elliot was such a nice ki--er,-- guy! "I'm sure you'll find someone, eventually. If that's what you want, anyway," he concluded, looking back to the menu for the desserts. After all, he didn't want to make Elliot feel upset about some failed relationships or something!

"Wait, really?" Elliot fell quiet as he listened to what Asher was saying. Was he seriously offering to give up his own plans just to entertain Elliot's silliness? That just didn't seem fair. Nevertheless, the boy smiled, for once deciding to keep all of his questions and worries about imposing in his back pocket. "Thank you. That really means a lot," he finally said, trying not to let the excitement in his voice show.
"I can imagine. Your body must have, like, two internal clocks by now," Elliot pointed out. Or maybe it had none. Maybe Asher was just a zombie. Considering how much he loved his sleep, though, adjusting to jetlag was probably his favorite part of the trip. "What kind of business is it for? Are you back in the acting game?" he further asked, remembering that he really wanted to ask Asher what he had been doing lately. He got so caught up in talking about his own life that he had forgotten all about it! Still, now Asher was at the point of no turning back. He'd have to answer Elliot's questions somehow, gosh darnit.
When asked about eating, Elliot didn't even wait for Asher to finish talking before saying "Yep." What could he say? He was a bottomless pit, after all. "I haven't been as big of an eater since my growth spurts finished, but after nothing but dining hall food for the last four years? I could eat this whole steakhouse and not even blink an eye." Now that was quite the boast. Was Elliot really that prepared? He hoped Asher didn't insist on testing that, though. A steakhouse this fancy surely wouldn't have one of those gimmick 'eat an entire steak and win a free houseboat' challenges. If it did, Elliot would be surprised.
Not as surprised as Asher was by Elliot's complete lack of girlfriends in his life. He sighed, knowing he'd have to answer that question eventually. "Yeah," he said, somewhat dejected. "I really hope you're right. I was always looking for something more serious, a lot of the people I was with were just out for fun. So it never really panned out for more than a month or two, usually." Briefly he pondered something, looking up from his menu at Asher. "How about you? Are you with anyone right now?"

Why did Elliot always seem so surprised to be prioritized at all? It surely wasn't going unnoticed by the redhead, but he was going to try to avoid bringing it up. After all, it was almost hypocritical if he did! "It's important. I wouldn't want to miss it," he hummed, trying to find something reassuring to say.
Zero clocks was probably more accurate than two. Asher really didn't work on anyone's time. Not even his own! Which, really, made for a lot of problems with sleep schedules, but he had long learned to work around that. Lips pressed tightly together, curving to provide an almost nervous smile. "Actually," he glanced to the side to make sure that others weren't listening to their conversation, "yeah. I signed a contract with a company doing some movie series-thing." There was a slight knot in the man's stomach, at actually admitting that he had gotten back into the business that had eaten away most of his childhood. What was he so embarrassed about? Elliot surely wasn't going to judge him for that!
"Eating the whole steakhouse might be overkill," the actor snickered, with a shake of his head. "We can't come back here, if you do." Then again, would they ever actually come back to this place? Definitely not, if Elliot devoured it! But... "Maybe, next time, I'll take you someplace in L.A.," he suggested, glancing down at his menu to avoid eye contact. That was, if Elliot stayed in California. Travelling from Japan would probably be too much for the college student, at least for a long while!
But, it didn't take long for Asher to return to staring at the younger man. Was Elliot's love life really that much of a failure? "I'd say that's just the people your age. But, that's really how most people are." Which was how it wasn't very surprising for Asher to answer the next question with a shake of his head, "I'm not interested in relationships that won't work out after two months." It was a waste of time and attachments, after all! And, it was impossible to be an actor and expect that everyone wasn't only interested in his career choice! "So, I haven't really been in a relationship for while." There was no shame in that, right?
