It was really for the best that Asher didn't want to overthink how Whiskers got away with all the things that she did. Why was the cat so fond of just looking like a cat? Holosuits existed for a reason! And, heck, her Champion form could probably be passable in some places! "She still lives with me, when I'm in Japan." But, taking a Digimon through an airport sounded really difficult! "She lives with Piper when I'm here." After all, it wasn't like Asher had stopped going to the Digital World, or anything! He still needed a partner for that kind of thing!
Isaac totally had a chance at being a romantic interest or an action star! It would probably be something mixed in comedy, still, but hey! A role is a role! But, as far as Asher's silliest roles? "Most of the really cheesy things were when I was a kid, in that TV series." It was a good thing that most people didn't remember more of the earlier episodes! "Being in a show like that really gives you a sense of humor, though." If anyone took themselves seriously in that line of work, they'd probably snap and go on a murder spree!
With the next subject, though, there wasn't much thought for the man to put toward his dumb acting choices. Instead, he was more interested in what was going on in Elliot's head. It was amazing that the college boy had much of an appetite, considering how stressed out he seemed to be right now! Maybe it was all in Asher's head. Either way, he still wasn't touching the appetizer. If it had eyes, he would insist that it was looking at him funny.
"Wait, what?" Leaning back a bit, Asher's eyes flickered to try to figure out what Elliot could be thinking right now. Watching expressions were not giving him mind-reading abilities! "What's that even mean?" Did Asher look like the type of person to intentionally mess with someone's emotions? And, what the heck did he mean by 'someone like me'?

So the two siblings had alternating custody of the cat. That made sense. "How often do you live in Japan, speaking of?" Elliot asked, curiously. "Are you always bouncing between here and there, or is it more like a pattern?" He couldn't imagine what the jetlag was like at its worst. And did this mean that Asher had two houses? Or was his time in here spent in on-set trailers? Did actors actually live in trailers? God, Elliot didn't even know! There were so many questions, but Asher probably had enough of Elliot digging into his personal life by now.
It wasn't surprising that Asher's goofy roles peaked at his child star years. Nowadays he was a heartthrob, so he could totally get all of the serious roles he wanted. "Heh. That was pretty silly, wasn't it?" Elliot asked, smiling warmly. By now his portion of calamari was almost gone. Even when sneaking food in between conversations, Elliot was a voracious eater. Was Asher's half still totally untouched? Eh, surely he'd take it later. "Isaac's been a lot more lighthearted since he started getting roles too. You should've heard how hard Maia was trying not to laugh at him for that infomercial. I wouldn't be surprised if she pretends to drop dishes just to tease him about it these days." What? The Dishes Galore dish holster was totally an essential component of any household! You just couldn't trust your hands with that many dishes.
Elliot's point seemed to completely go over Asher's head. Was he going to have to actually explain himself? God, that was going to be horribly embarrassing. He took in a deep sigh, trying to compose himself properly in order to let Asher know what was on his mind.
"You're amazing, Asher," he finally started. "You're one of the most sweet and caring guys I've ever known. It doesn't matter how small of a problem someone has. You always did your best to help them with it, even when they were being stubborn butts. And you're so hard working, too. I mean, sure, you sleep a lot, but look at all the amazing things you're doing now that you're awake! Like, that charity's going to do a lot of wonderful things for people who really need it. And it's all out of the goodness of your heart. And you've also made me laugh a lot. And you're really handsome. And you bring out the best in everyone you talk to. And . . . and . . .
I just don't see how you'd ever notice me that way."

"I live in Japan whenever I'm not busy with something here." Well, that felt like a vague answer! "I've been here for the past two months. I'll probably head back to Japan in a couple more. Depending on when I have to be back for more work." After all, filming for sequels didn't need to wait too much, if they wanted to release even one a year! "Once I figure it out, I'll know if I should extend the contract on the apartment I'm renting here, or not." After all, it was really a waste of money to have homes in two different places!
If Asher was all that concerned about his personal life, he wouldn't talk about it. Or be an actor. That kind of career led to all sorts of stalkers and a lot less of personal anything! "There were so many weird episodes." Like the time he had to act out being stuck in a spray-tanning booth! Or the dumpster diving episode! Or... wow, how did these episodes not seriously damage Asher's abilities to view the world?
...Oh wait. They probably had.
Otherwise, maybe he wouldn't need to have everything spelled out to him right now! For a moment, it seemed like his heartrate had gone through the roof, only to crash to a complete stop. Breath halted in the man's throat, attempting to comprehend what was being said. Unable to even blink, he seemed frozen. Don't have some sort of breakdown right now! Finally remembering to breath, Asher tried to remain subtle about his own alarm. "But, I'm not amazing," he argued, softly. He didn't want to criticize Elliot's opinion, but he just couldn't figure out where the college student was coming from!
One hand removed itself from his coffee cup, reaching out a short distance, only to set his palm against the table. Don't be dumb. These kinds of conversations probably weren't best with physical contact! Biting down on his tongue, eyes finally shifted to look away. What would make Elliot think like this? Why would he think Asher was better than him? "Well, I noticed you," Asher managed, feeling his face becoming hot. Oh, come on. He was an actor, darn it! He should have this blushing thing under control! Regardless, there was no way that he was going to be able to sell this as a joke anymore! Was there?
While words could be his strong suit, they certainly didn't feel like it right now! He was going to mess up anything he chose to say! "Is that bad?" Stop blushing! Just stop! He was already squishing his pride with his words! Blushing was going to make it even worse! "If it is," he began, providing a warm smile that was surely somewhat faked, "I won't mention it anymore. Alright?" After all, it wasn't like the actor was trying to push Elliot too far out of his comfort zones! And, a conversation like this was surely doing just that!

That was a fair split. LA for business, Shibuya for pleasure. Something told Elliot that being fully immersed in the industry again would've driven Asher mad once more. Healthy separation and boundaries, even from something you loved, was essential towards properly functioning. "Well, you're one of the main cast, right?" Elliot said. "They'll probably want you around for the majority of shooting then, so I can't imagine your apartment wouldn't come in handy." That'd be an expense, though, and expense was triply so in a place as high-cost as LA. Hopefully the box office would be good to Asher and make up for it!
"Feels like every show had a lot of those. Especially at least one musical episode," Elliot pointed out. "What was your favorite one? If I was in your shoes I'd probably have a heck of a time picking." These little tangents were nice. They helped Elliot connect with Asher better, while also helping him avoid the giant elephant in the room. Why did he have to open the door for that darn elephant?
Although if anyone was sitting in stunned silence, only a soft protest about compliments being handed out, it probably would've been Elliot. How the heck was it Asher instead? Taken a little off guard, Elliot did his best to muster up a confident smile. He noticed Asher start to reach his palm across the table and, perhaps feeling a little bold, put his own hand on top of it. "I mean . . . I think you are," he said, voice so soft it may as well not have been there.
Maybe it was hearing Asher say that he did notice Elliot in that way that made Elliot feel so bold. Maybe hearing that was also what had him currently screaming on the inside. This was going way too far, and yet Elliot wasn't quite sure he wanted to stop it. Besides, he was far too confused right now. He needed to know how, and why, this was even the case! "Really?" he said, at this point quite bad at concealing his surprise. But . . . why me?"
Asher almost seemed like he was trying to withdraw that, though. "N-no. It isn't bad," Elliot said. "I . . . I didn't ever expect to hear that from you of all people, but it feels nice.
Thanks, Asher."

While having his own space was plenty important, so was not blowing all of his earnings on an apartment. "Yeah, but I'm signed on for multiple movies. If the filming is too far apart for each one, it might be better to just stay at my grandma's when I'm here." It wasn't like Asher was just going to be homeless! And, it was a lot cheaper to live with a relative than to continue having an apartment that he wasn't constantly using!
Musical episodes were hilariously awful, weren't they? Asher had to admit, they weren't really his favorites because of how awkward they could be, but at least people generally laughed about them! "I don't think there's a way to pick a favorite. There were so many episodes." And they all kind of blurred together! At least they had gotten him out of the house for several hours.
Though, thinking about favorite acting pieces took a backseat to their current conversation. Sure, Elliot thought he was amazing. But, what if Asher lost his job, the charity collapsed, or something? Then, there wouldn't be much remaining to claim as such! Eyes shifted to stare at their hands for a second, leaving it there. Maybe there was something wrong with him. Who in their right mind would try to ask their coworker's younger sibling on a date?
"Well, you're a good person. And," he paused, thinking about all of the stupid options of what to say. Shifting his hand, fingers moved to entwine with Elliot's. "I want to be the reason that you smile." Oh, if Asher's blush hadn't been obvious before, it definitely was now! Did that sound too scripted? Ugh. Looking away, he added a quick, "that sounded a little less dumb when I was only thinking it."
But, Elliot couldn't expect Asher to just be able to list off everything in one sitting! Sure, Elliot could apparently do that, but Asher was a lot more guarded about that kind of information! "If you really want all the reasons, you're going to have to put up with me telling you them over time." It was too hard to compile all the thoughts right now, anyway. And, wasn't it more pleasant to disperse that kind of information in little compliments? ...Yeah, Asher's mentality was probably just really weird. Still, trying to remain as collected as possible, the man raised an eyebrow. "Why are you thanking me?" Was that normal for this kind of thing?
(Gonna call this my last post for the MPC. -- Bits, please.)

Asher's point made sense. Wasting money wasn't fun, even on main character in a movie salary. "I get the feeling I'll be living with family for a bit too," Elliot said. "It'll be great making it on my own eventually, but there's no way I can find a place in California or Shibuya on college graduate salary." College graduate salary was in the negatives, for what it was worth. At least Elliot's rather conservative lifestyle meant that he wouldn't be racking up anything too rough. "Although it'll be weird just being me and mom, after all this time. But Isaac had to move in with Maia eventually, right?" How else would they have a dream kitchen, full of products like Dishes Galore and the Oven Buddy, if not for the salary of not one but two weirdos?
It must've been hard for Asher to pick between his favorite episodes. It'd be like picking between his multitudes of adorable children, surely. "I'd need to watch them again to get a sense of which was my favorite," Elliot admitted. "I feel like anything that's a competition being taken way too seriously would be my favorite, though. I just love seeing how it all escalates!" There was something almost satisfying about seeing two people get in over their heads until the entire neighborhood was wrapped up in shenanigans. Especially if something exploded by the end.
Elliot's blush deepened as he suddenly felt Asher's fingers curl against his own. Elliot didn't mind at all, though. He smiled softly as he tightened his grip against Asher's own, the two now sitting there hand in hand. "Asher . . . " he said, almost in disbelief that this was happening. His voice was so soft and light that it seemed like he'd float away at any moment. "You've made me smile so much already. But . . . I think you'll find so, so many more ways to make me do that." He paused for a bit, giving Asher's hand a gentle, reassuring squeeze. "And don't worry. It didn't sound dumb. It sounded really, really sweet."
Of course, if Elliot wanted to find out other dumb-but-sweet things from Asher, he'd need to wait and find out the long way. "Spending a lot of time with you, hearing sweet things from a man who takes my breath away?" Elliot asked, laughing warmly. "I can definitely live with that. But don't get upset if I find more sweet things to tell you too, okay?" Wow, was he teasing Asher now? Elliot sure warmed up quickly!
That just left one last question. Why thanks? Elliot pondered on that one, eyes wandering towards the ceiling. "For being the best part of my graduation week," Elliot finally settled on, a brand new level of confidence in his voice. For the first time today, he didn't look so small or scared.
(In case we're done soon, bits please!)

Alrighty, that was neat.
I'll award 5,000 bits to Asher and 5,000 bits to Elliot and Isaac.
