... Shining...
Cion could honestly not believe what she was seeing in front of her. She had made a halt from crossing the Mainframe Hills in an attempt to relax by savoring tranquil serenity, beholding this riven of glitching data hovering in the air above the edge of a cliff. It unceasingly dispersed binary code that quickly dissipated again, a core like that of a digimon beating in its middle. It was an anomaly in time and space, that was for sure. Some sort of error in the digital world; a bug as some humans might call it. At least that was what the ascended CyberSagitamon thought, having no other hypothesis at hand.
And she would be damned if she was going to find out by herself what bizarre effects this phenomenon included. At least she was wise enough to not come near it, much less touch it, Still, the vulpine digimon could not deny that this was intriguing to say the least. Somehow, she simply had to find out what this aspect was, but she did not have much an idea on where to begin her investigation, or how to transport it for scientists to research it, if it could be transported in the first place.
No, more primitive methods had to be utilized to slowly attain conclusive data, or to remove a potentially dangerous error in the digital code from existence. Scanning her environment, Cion quickly made notice of a sizable stone. Picking it up, she tossed it at the small rift with as much force as she could muster. Expecting some sort of detonation or reaction, she soon found herself not disappointed, but utterly baffled. The rock passed through the rift and landed on the grassy ground behind it, followed suit by a second, identical one.
Although covered by her helmet, the armored digimon's jaw was dropping hard, her mind almost unable to fathom what she had just witnessed. Whatever this object in front of her was, one of its powers was to duplicate objects that came into contact with it. It was like the copying function on almost every computer, though Cion honestly worried about the drawbacks it had. Then again... in the hands of someone just and pure of heart, it could be a blessing for every lawful being in this world who simply sought lives of peace and prosperity. Fulfilling any need and desire to fill lives with utmost contentment... how wonderful.
And if anyone was wise and kind-hearted enough to wield such godlike power, it was certainly her, not? After all, she had the experiences of two full existences under her belt, plus the beginning of this one. For as long as she had existed, she had always fought for the good in the world alongside those she treasured. Her devotion had always been the guiding force in her life next to Owen, but now only the former was left. She had to trust herself to do the right thing, as she had so often done already. Everything depended on her after all.
After millennia of relative stagnation and constant threats from fiends, it was time to bring true harmony to the digital world. She owed it to all inhabitants who finally wanted lasting peace in their lives. And with this power, practically anything was possible. She only had to think of the best way to utilize it, but she could do so once she integrated this force into her being as well. Beaming with determination, she nodded and cautiously approached the glitch. She could feel the tremendous energy it released tickling at the very data she was made of, but that did not scare her.
Coming to a halt right next to it, she reached out for it and performed and action she had not done in many centuries, for better or for worse. Slowly, she loaded the core, seeing it break down into fleeting data of which much did not even enter her system. Slowly, the rift closed itself as the might got fully absorbed and mixed with the code that was the foundation of her very being. The power she had been able to feel rushing through her veins was... incredible. Not even as a Super Mega digimon had she ever felt this mighty.
Everything returned to normal, leaving the armored digimon alone in the hills of the mainframe. But something about her had changed. Engulfing her was an aura that almost appeared divine, causing her to glow in a radiant, golden tone. The power that had become a part of her system had fundamentally altered what she was despite retaining her appearance. But it was not only that. Her very personality had changed with the realization what the ability to copy literally anything was truly capable of. Before, she had always dreamed about forging an utopia, but now she could make that dream a reality.
In the weeks and months that went by after this fateful event, the inhabitants of the digital world and its human visitors were put in a constant state of trepidation. Nobody had expected the appearance of a second planet sharing the same moon, much less its surface only being a couple of dozen kilometers away from that of the original planet. It's creator, a seemingly divine digimon who only few knew before her ascendance, had promised her world for everyone with a good heart to be an eternal paradise without fear and penury.
At first, almost nobody trusted the agenda of this powerful digimon, but the more she demonstrated her unrivaled ability to create matter out of nowhere, the more adherers longed for the salvation she offered. Establishing transportation between the worlds by copying teleportation technology, it did not take long before her realm was brimming with sentient life. At first an empty world only filled with flora and primitive lifeforms, the autonomous machinery and resources she could copy indefinitely at her whim caused progress to be inconceivably rapid, especially with the help of those who followed her.
In only a month, an ever-growing capital city was established, easily rivaling Terminus City in size. But unlike this digressive home for many entities, Aidenn was pure and filled with riches for everyone. Its ivory towers scratched her planet's sky, fine marble and neon lights as well as tended flora adorned every corner of her paradise, and everyone could gain what they sought. Housings were spacious, were it family homes or luxurious apartments. An entire country became a city of infinite wealth and hope, incorporating entire biomes into its design to consider every type of digimon.
Those who had not joined initially soon felt regret when gazing upon the glowing lights of the paradisiac world they had rejected. But its leader had returned to those with doubt, assuring that everyone good-natured was welcome to join her at any time. This good news lead a huge fraction of digimons to leave what they had behind, only to gain so much more in their next existence in the metropolis of Aidenn. Sorrows and worries of an old life were soon forgotten, replaced by constant fortune, rapid progress in technology and medicine due to the extra time smart digimons had on their hands, and cultural growth due to everyone being able to freely pursue hobbies and dreams without having to worry about money and similar burdens.
With only a small percentage of the previous population left in the original world, hell on Earth became a reality. With so many evil beings left to take over, wars for supremacy were daily as everything deteriorated into a battlefield of decay and ash. Those reborn would find themselves alone, even the guardians of the City of Beginnings having abandoned the previous, rotten planet. But with one final act of goodness, those with regret and the wish for salvation in their hearts would be welcomed as well to live and learn the ways of harmony.
And with the first digital world turned entirely into a realm of darkness and pain, it was time to end the cycle of rise & fall once and for all. With the gate connecting the planets destroyed, the time had come for Cion to finish her work. Having multiplied her own powers over and over again, she had become a being of pure, golden data, like an incarnation of divine benevolence itself.
From the top of the largest ivory tower, she blasted the old planet with a single beam of pure power. Only requiring force of will, the radiant beam multiplied into trillions in space. And as they impacted with the husk that was left of their former home, the expected occurred. In a flare, it tore apart into uncountable bits along the wicked spirits of pure evil that had rejected her offer countless times. They refused salvation, but at least she could end their misery for good, bringing them peace through total annihilation. It was a shame, but it had to be done.
Naturally, the digimon turned true goddess protected her realm from any damage, shielding it from debris that got dispersed by the explosion. Most of it quickly formed a gorgeous ring of star dust around her world, signifying that it was truly beyond everything anyone had ever known. The jubilation and celebration in the marbled streets of Aidenn lasted until the evening. Everyone, from In-Trainings to Super Megas, millions of individuals... they all celebrated together in untainted harmony and happiness. And as Cion watched them from the balcony of her crystal palace, she too found peace and happiness, knowing that her efforts had not been in vain.
As requested, those she treasured the most appeared behind her, having followed her invitation. Although her very existence had changed into something entirely different, she was still the same soul that wanted to see her friends happy. She did not treat them any different, and did not want to be treated differently either. She simply motioned them to stand by her side and relish the view. Owen and little Logan on his shoulders with Koharu by his side, Luke, Bellamy, Colin, Brad; all of them were by her side, looking towards the future with unadulterated hope. The potential for culture and technology; they were limitless.
Closing her eyes as the eternal sentinel took in a deep breath, she could feel Bellamy's hand gently nudging her shoulder. "Cion?" He called out for her, but she was simply feeling too tired and serene to respond. But... it did not stop... it only continued, just like the suffering in the digital world.
"Cion?" She heard as she opened her eyes, meeting the familiar sight of the luxurious interior of Daedalus; once a Blimpon and now a being of a much higher level. Her gaze shifted to the Impmon who let go off her. "You fell asleep and missed the ending. Wanna rewind?" Luke the Elecmon asked, sitting between his twin and their digi-destined Colin. Looking down at herself, she saw the familiar sight of a small, weak Arnamon, silver and white fur covering her body. Yawning with a saddened frown, she looked at the plasma television which showed the credits of Doctor Strange.
So... it had simply been another pipe dream, had it not been? She had been having those a lot recently despite how well things were turning out for her after a long time of daily despair. But maybe it was the knowledge that others were still suffering that made her dream of omnipotence. But attaining such power was surreal, she knew that. Even with the might of all of her previous lives combined, she'd never be strong enough to forge a paradise on her own. No... there was always reliance on those she cared.
Shaking her head, she got up and bowed to the trio that kindly had allowed her to stay with them for a while to show her the ropes of being a member of P.R.O.F.I.T. "No thanks, I'd rather go to bed. I'm really tired, you know. Yeah... so... good night you three, and thanks again for everything." She spoke calmly before leaving hastily, putting a bit of unrest into the three souls that remained awake.
But perhaps, as they had always tried to tell themselves, everything would be fine again tomorrow. Though if Cion would cling to the dreams tearing at her or would only be greeted by disenchanted darkness in her sleep... that was yet undecided.
