Even as K pressed onto the land beyond the bridge, the fog didn't immediately part. After all, K was not supposed to be conscious about this part of her mind, and the fact that she would be able to explore it at all might have confounded her 'inner selves'. For a minute or so, K would be surrounded by nothing but deathly silence. Were the cores here? Could they even communicate with her at all, even like this?
These questions would be answered in the most direct way possible, as a sudden roar tore through the fog. With what felt like a gale-force wind, the thick clouds that surrounded K would be blasted away. And as the air cleared, the Renamon's field of vision would be dominated by a terrifying sight.
Just a few yards away from the fox, Examon would touch down, his feet quickly leaving a solid impression on the soil beneath. By far the largest of any of the nights, the enormous dragon loomed over, staring face to face with her host. It seemed to take the dragon a moment, eying K as if she was a foreign figure, but soon enough a familiar glint would enter the dragon's eye.
Kneeling down, she brought a single hand over, the scales of a finger gently dragging over Renee's arm. Around her, the wings would curl around, as if to hide her from the rest of this space. "My, dear fox, it is quite a surprise to see you wandering around this place." Her once aggressive tone had completely melted - was the Examon trying to 'appeal' in some way?
"Mm, right when GraceNovamon already expressed her victory. But she's wrong..." The dragon grinned. "You're not so simple, are you? To what do we owe this pleasure of seeing you here?"

When the fog didn't immediately part K frowned; she didn't have control of the locale which made sense. She was likely in a more passive part of her mind; a place where even if she had a semblance of control she would of had problems moving it right? She was firmly worried about a few things; the actual ability to communicate with the cores; what they would do when they found her...
Though that last thought was blasted away with the fog; she almost found herself panicking but with a growl she steeled herself and used her hand to block her face from the gale. When the fog cleared and the gale of wind was no longer such a thing...
She was greeted with such a sight she felt her breath taken away. One of the knights to be sure, but likely no longer a knight in these times. It was different and such; now this digimon was likely just considered a regular digimon of it's class. But even so; it was majestic.
The Examon stared at her, looming over and meeting her eyes. There wasn't any familiarity at first but when that glint entered her eye K could relax just a little bit. The single hand was definitely strong enough and large enough to where if the digimon wanted to... Examon likely could crush her without a thought.
When the wings curled around her K rubbed her muzzle nervously. The aggresive tone that had been... well. Been the initial greeting method seemed to vanish completely. She was greeted almost quietly; for such a creature of this size they were remarkably gentle. If that was truly how they were.
"I had to get answers. And this is the only place I can find them in a more immediate fashion."
K would reply sternly; watching the Examon curiously.
"I am not that simple no. I came here to talk to each of you, ask questions of sorts. See who and what you are. Names are powerful things, even if they are simply what you are. But they aren't who you are.
She'd gently place her hand over the finger that had gently dragged over her arm.
"I was expecting GraceNovamon to be the first to greet me. I am surprised it's you instead. So I suppose I should ask. I know of you Examon, but I don't know who you are. What you want, aside from being the main core of course. Or free in entirety. So I need to know."
She'd scratch her head after a moment.
"I intend to ask the others the same. So I can make the choice of which of you I will have as my core. For it is my choice to make."

K wouldn't have been the first one to be nervous in the dragon's presence... though, this was such an interesting thing to her. This Renamon didn't have to come into this realm at all, nor expose herself to the dangers of the knights that dwelled within her.
It was also quite impressive how much they knew of their struggles inside. Hearing her reasoning, the Examon gave a growl, gently running her scales against the side of the fox. "You play a dangerous game, K. You come here to know our true intentions? Dear Renamon, if I wanted to be free as you described, you'd already be between my fangs." She spoke of such a matter rather casually and bluntly - rather appropriate, considering the rank and stature of this dragon.
But as for the question itself? "I desire victory, over the cruel GraceNovamon who disgraced my fair duel with Jesmon. And, of course, I desire to exist, to feel my wings once more in the cool mountain air, to live again." Her words were full of energy, the dragon even managing to give a light grin on her last comment.
"But perhaps its not a one way street? Tell me, what do you want from all this, fox?"

K shifted a little bit when the dragon ran their scales along her fur. It felt strange to say the least; she could actually feel this in every fashion. It was like she was actually here; that the dragon was actually truely existing. Or perhaps their influence was strong enough to push this sensation knowing exactly how one felt to the other.
"Life is full of dangerous games. You could say life itself is that. Even if I have lived most of mine peacefully."
She'd rub her muzzle and stare up at the dragon when the other indicated that if she desired it, she would basically of killed K already. Snorting softly; k knew this was simply no lie. There of course.. was a semblance of respect perhaps between the two? Or perhaps something else? She was unsure but if they deigned to speak rather than act.. K must be worth something.
"Victory huh... and life? Very simple desires, but I can understand them. I know them."
The energy of the last part was somewhat moving; these were living creatures. beings within her after all. It would make sense that something so simply was the desire; but at the same time was that all? It had K a little nervous; but when asked K looked down at her hands and frowned.
"I don't want to vanish, I don't want to be just a memory of someone else's eventual fading mind. I want to keep going forward, getting stronger. But most importantly."
She'd curl her hands into fists a small growl escaping her.
"I want Knowledge. I want Power. The people who destroyed my home and many others need to learn they can't do that without consequences. So I suppose Vengeance or revenge is up there too. But.."
The renamon sighed.
"I want to Live. But I can't do that if I get too far without having only one of you. I spent a millennia in that Inn. I can't keep choosing inaction; so I have to act. To live is to act, and I want to do both."

Ah, but weren't K's desires simple herself?
"Mm, and yet you berate me? To be remembered. To exist. To seek power against those that have wronged you. And even to live, with or without the comfort of the inn. Those are all simple desires that anyone can have." The dragon's voice warmly met the Renamon's growl, and her sigh. Her wings closed in slightly more, now better having an idea of where to go from here:
"And I can grant you what you want. You've already experienced what a taste of my power can offer you - even comfort to rest in your higher forms." It seemed that he would claim credit for the virus forms, and at this point, it almost sounded like the dragon was doting her. "My wings and spear can be yours. All you'd have to do is ensure that I am the one who continues to exist." The last tinge of the tone suggested that there was a bit of a threat to her words... but regardless, she'd soon pull her hand away, those wings stretching outward again. "Be careful. I cannot guarantee the other two will want your safety."

"Berate? No. I think not. I intended to portray agreement."
She'd sigh softly running a hand through her fur. The other seemed to understand where the renamon was coming from. With the wings closing around her, she felt walled off most certainly but oddly safe. It was a mix of feelings she wasn't sure how to really react to.
The dragon was correct. She was able to sit in ultimate form for a very long time, who could say how high she could sit were this creature her super mega? The GraceNovamon had indicated that it needed to have this creature be in the upper echelons to contain it. But was that really the case?
"Aye. A month or so in constant ultimate form, stable without a doubt. I don't think I ever had to worry about falling out of it till I was forced out."
She'd stare up at the Dragon ears flicking to the sides. Their claim that were she to choose the Examon that their wings and spear were to be K's. It was a certainly bold and invigorating claim. They both wanted this for selfish reasons did they not? Would the other two.. Deign to have anything close to it?
"...Ensuring your survival would require a Virus core. And the destruction of the other two within. Well.. Not so much destruction as digitization and absorbing."
She'd huff softly and look down at her hands again. They were unclenched and when the other pulled awya she jolted in surprise.
"The GraceNovamon from what you said has Resigned themselves to Victory already. What harm could I be to them? From what I know Jesmon wouldn't outright attack me without reason and I haven't given them any yet. If they attack, My choice firmly would lay elsewhere and they know it. But thank you."
She'd pause and consider something, looking up at the Examon again.
"I have the name of K. But many told me simply that it was short, or surprising. What have you of a name Examon? If one at all?"

Ah, so she was aware of that little gift. The dragon gave an affirmative growl, carefully listening as K mulled over her options. Examon would be Virus; Jesmon, Data, and GraceNovamon, Vaccine. Hearing her words in regards to the latter, the dragon gave a growl.
"Jesmon's heart is in a different place, but his values as a knight are strong and true. GraceNovamon sought to end our battle herself - claiming it was for the world, but wanting our powers for herself. Do not think that the Vaccine one will be your ally." The Examon's words were cautious, but as whe was about to step back, K asked that question.
Curious, she gave a grin. "The Knight of Resolute Power, Sir Examon of the Fourth Age. My title was known far and wide, back then... for now, I am 'Examon'. Tread cautiously, 'K'."
With a beat of its wings, the Examon would slip back into the fog. And once more, for a brief moment, K would be isolated.
"That Examon... always speaking in such a grand way, isn't he?"
A male voice broke through the fog, a pair of blue eyes glowing from beneath K. Once more, the fog parted, the flash of a red cloak appearing from within:
This was 'Jesmon', though in his current state, he took the form of 'Hackmon'. And at once, he gave a bow to the Renamon: "Jesmon, Royal Knight of the Fourth Age. 'Tis an honor to make your acquaintance." Unlike the 'doting' dragon, this one seemed to have more of a royal temperament, as if honor-bound to the core. "And what is your reason for coming here?"
It seemed, at the very least, that Hackmon couldn't hear through those tightly armored wings!

K tilted her head just a bit; staring up at the dragon as they spoke. They spoke of the others in such a fashion where respect was given to the Jesmon. But she seemed to dislike the GraceNovamon quite a bit. Even going so far as saying the other wanted to have their powers for themselves. Though that would make sense beyond belief k wasn't sure if she completely believed it.
"If that is true, then this situation is far different than what I was expecting."
She'd frown just a bit; clasping her hands together as the other introduced themselves. The fourth age? A knight of Resolute power? This examon came from a powerful time indeed, and now none knew what had become of them. If she chose in such a manner no one ever would.
"I shall. Thank you for entertaining my questions Examon."
K would watch the Dragon slip into the fog. She sighed, that feeling of isolation returning. What was this mess that lay so deep within her that the cores themselves seemed absolutely different than what she was expecting. The renamon perked up however when she heard a voice.
While it was not the grand form of the Jesmon, she was greeted by the visage of a Hackmon. She recognized the form, as well as the power that no doubt lay beneath that hooded features. She'd return the bow with a small smile.
"A pleasure Jesmon. I am K, a simple innkeep for a little village."
She'd pause a bit and frown slightly.
"I came here to talk to the three of you. To choose whom would be the main core. I had to learn of the three of you before making that choice. For you see, if I don't I'll cease to exist upon reaching the height of power that you all have. I know it's selfish, but I don't want to simply fade away."

K held quite a heavy tone when speaking to the Hackmon, but despite this, the Knight gave a nod. "Bold. You've decided to come investigate directly instead of leave it to chance? Especially in this mental space, it wouldn't be that difficult to trick you." The Knight spoke honestly and frankly, but despite that...
... It was time to make his case, wasn't it? "During my battle with Examon, I was stolen from the world before I could leave my mark. I had traveled to defend a town from a dire threat, but the dragon stopped me, speaking words of warning me of interfering with fate. So we clashed, and the rest, you would know..."
He closed his eyes. "But from what I could see through your eyes, there is not even a remnant of that town remaining. No relic, no history. If I could say anything, I would like to right the failure of my past, and rally those who hold my will behind me. Any, of course, who would recognize the sigil on your arm."
That explained that much, but the Hackmon gave a sigh. "A sigil, which has turned out to be a bother for you..."

K frowned just a bit as the knight mentioned that it would be easy to trick her her. She'd shake her head slowly; she knew that. But regardless of what they could do she had to. She couldn't just make this choice idly.
"I know. Foolish as it may be, I couldn't just make a choice without being informed."
She'd tilt her head once more; listening to the hackmon quietly. Stolen from the world; something about a dire threat. Was it something that she would know anything about? She doubted that; they were from ages so far past that they might as well be simply... a legend.
"You say Dire threat, but it must of been handled at some point or another correct? I know the rest of the tale for the most part; it's not hard to piece together everything."
She looked a little saddened that there wasn't anything remaining of the town in question. He wanted to right the failure that he seemed to see. Rally those that would follow him... She looked a little uncertain there, looking down at her hands again.
"I don't know if I'm the sort that could lead an army Knight, My memories paint me as a soldier, a medic and an innkeeper. Not a general. I'm no leader, I don't think I ever could be."
She'd gingerly place a hand on where the floating rings would be; a small sigh escaping her.
"Marks like that relay the power that has been granted or possessed. Announcing it in such a fashion was sure to draw eyes. All the same; it likely saved me the trouble when I arrived in a.. Questionable locale."
She'd pause to consider something and shake her head.
"People would flock to you, to us were I to choose you. But what happens after you right the wrong? What happens when we achieve that goal? What next? Where next? Who would we be after it?"
The renamon looked somewhat worried, hesistant even....

"That's not for me to know, I'm afraid." At least in regards to 'if the dire threat was handled', the Hackmon didn't have a solid answer. "Suffice to say, trapped in this fog, its difficult to get much of a sense of the outside world. Whatever politics have transpired since are far beyond me."
But in K's hesitation in regards to her fear about being a leader, about what happens next? The knight just gave a grin, shaking his head. "No-one is born a leader, K. But you have the potential - if not just with the Knights inside, in your own temperament. You decided to take your own path today, and had the courage and thought to see it through to the end. Of course, I would be there to give you a hint or two."
As for the mark, though? "Honestly, I was curious to see just how many would notice it. It is my blessing to you as well, though - surely you've seen the change in your blades? That is no accident." Frustrating or not, it seemed each of the three of them had given their own 'blessing' to the fox. Would Jesmon's mark even impact her other forms?
And as for the last? "Then we assess the would and act as needed. Whether its as an innkeeper or as part of some sort of council, there would always be a future for us. The mantle of a leader is not a permanent one, K."

"I suppose that is true. Even in all my time as an Innkeep I never really kept up with politics and the ilk... So even by chance I doubt I'd of come by something so far gone."
She'd sigh softly and looked a little surprised at his next bit. The grin throwing her off completely. She'd look down at her hands, the frown she had earlier returning.. as well as deepening immensely.
"Wise words. I suppose that would be something to consider. Courage? Courage bred of fear, you know my heart being so close to it Jesmon. Hints or no.. I simply cannot see myself as one to lead; I would worry endlessly of those beneath me."
She shook her head when he mentioned the blades and the mark.
"I would... say that quite a number did. So I suppose your blessing was a success? I noticed the blades, I wasn't expecting it and to say the least they certainly look something straight out of legend."
The frown deepened and she'd look down at her hands. Assess? Act? Be a council or an Innkeep.. He seemed to make it seem easy to put down the mantle of leadership. She knew it to be a drug for some.. Would she be one of those?
"I see. You most certainly have given me much to consider. No doubt, through the entirety of our righting that wrong. We would right another yes?"
The question was posed with reference to her own home. The passion behind her eyes easy to see. Mixed with the sorrow and the pain.
"No doubt, once you made your return. We'd have to communicate with the holy city too huh?"

In short, figuring out the exact fate of what happened to that once-illustrious city was next to impossible, unless the Hackmon was able to actually look for clues. That much didn't warrant much further comment - just a nod from the Knight.
As for her concern for those underneath her? The Knight gave a chuckle. "That worry is a good thing, though something I've often reserved for the truly defenseless. Those who followed and fought alongside me already knew their commitments, and were proud in their own right. Though, maybe the heart of a Knight is simply a heavy one?" He simply posed that question for K to mull over, knowing there was much to think about.
"Well, the blessing is as useful as you wish to put faith in it. Certainly, it will be able to impact your form, much like the Examon's guidance. But only if you put faith in using that power justly."
But, honestly, there wasn't much more to say. The Hackmon had pleaded his case, the Knight simply giving a nod as K remarked in regards to visiting the holy city. "If nothing else, I would like to visit the current generation's Jesmon. But you are right: whatever wrong warrants our action, we would act."
My, this sounded like quite the difficult life, didn't it? "Is that all, then? Considering the circumstances, I will answer all you ask of me."

K found herself musing deeply and needed to take a seat; there was so much that she had to think about and consider. The dragon was a powerful choice, this jesmon was a powerful choice. They both boasted strong ideals of different styles; one much simpler than the other. But equally as important.
This jesmon wanted to do the right thing, wanted to do some right in the world as well as visit the current Generation's Jesmon. Would that be wise? What if that creature was responsible for the attack on her village? What if any one of the current generations that was the case? she didn't want to consider that.
"The heart of the knight isn't so much a heavy one as it could be considered a burden to some. To me it is a lifestyle that I never thought once about traversing. But here am I, posed with the ideal. Valor, justice.. your blessings would affect much of each form I imagine. Same as the Examon. I can't innately say that everything I do would be just."
She'd grip her hands tightly on her knees staring at the hackmon.
"Vengence isn't just. What you're asking of me, is something I'm unsure I'd ever be able to do without considerable practice and time. Things, if they went amiss.. I wouldn't have much of each. Your case is incredibly strong much like the Examon's. But..."
She'd exhale softly.
"Your guidance, in this place would be sought like no other. Even if we aren't a knight of this time. People would still come to us, asking of things. Doing of things for us."
She'd gently pat her knees and shake her head.
"You have answered the questions quite well. Were I of Luminas I can only bet that the moment I found you within You would be my choice. Were I of a more just and noble heart, I no doubt would pick you."
She'd let out a soft growl.
"I cannot pick GraveNovamon. For my own reasons, as well as the both of yours. You would fight with every step against it I can tell. Which I wouldn't blame you for."
She'd stand after a few moments looking a little grumpy.
"Were we not to be one Jesmon, I imagine your guidance and counsel would be lost to the digital world? Were I to choose another, would you still assist us? If I were to choose you, would you allow them the same courtesy?"

"No-one is perfect, K. There are times that I have erred and strayed from the path, just as you. And I very much doubt our sense of justice is exactly in line."
Indeed, that much was obvious. K was definitely one with a good heart, and one who found it quite heart-wrenching to even make this sort of decision. "Its not about vengeance, but about doing what's necessary. If attempted justice is made with a malice-filled heart, it only breeds more malice."
The Hackmon's ear perked, as K complimented his answers, though she still seemed to hold a doubt in her heart. To this, he gave a groan, but then followed with a simple nod. At the very least, she seemed to stray from accenting the already dominant Vaccine core.
But then came that hardest question. And unfortunately, the Hackmon gave a shrug. "Who knows? This situation is wholly unique, based on both ours' and that cat's theories. Were I given the opportunity, you'd still hear my voice at times. Examon would likely be the same, and I would allow his input. Unfortunately," he sighed. "I highly doubt that's possible. Ah... the fog moves, again... if you truly do not wish to meet GraceNovamon, I would retreat."
