MPC#46C: The Other Holliday Before Christmas
# of MPCs Taken This Month: 1
Well... it is supposed to be the time of charitableness, not?
Charming, golden eyes slowly opened as Cion woke up from an unusually pleasant sleep. No nightmares and truths haunting her, and no comfortable dreams of things that would never be again bringing anguish upon her after waking up. It had simply been recreative, which she was thankful for. It had taken her a lot of time to regain some semblance of normalcy back into her life, but after weeks and months of confusion, at least she had a new purpose to work towards. As a proud member of P.R.O.F.I.T., she did good for the people in the world and earned enough to sustain her family. In her point of view, that was the best of both worlds.
Which was why she found herself on board of Daedalus, the Blimpmon of the Mega-level that worked for Colin, Luke and Bellamy; the most famous trio in all of the digital world. And she did not just think this way because she appreciated them as dear friends, but because it was simply the way it was. Practically every person she had met in this life knew them for one reason or another. Either the three of them had completed an important task for them, or they were good friends for the sake of it. Truth be told, the Arnamon had actually met them under similar circumstances as well.
Yawning, the vulpine digimon got out of her bed inside the airborne digimon's cabin and gave herself a most satisfactory stretch. Looking outside the small window, she beheld the always wonderful golden sky of the morning that welcomed her almost every single day. Nonetheless, seeing the planet curve beneath her with a horizon that was hundreds of miles away never ceased to wow her. It was one of those simple things about life that made it worthwhile, like lots of tasty food and the smiles of those she cared for.
Speaking of which, it was time to put on her best attitude to enjoy Yuletide with her companions. Of course she would be with her family for Christmas Eve, but Daedalus still required time to reach Terminus City, which was why they four passengers and him had decided to celebrate during noon. It was with jolly skips that the small braver exited her bedroom, walking through the halls of the gigantic digimon with Christmas carols on her lips. Oh, this was certainly going to be an excellent day. There was literally nothing that could ruin her mood, right?
"Oh goodness... I jinxed it already, did I not?" She said with much irritation to her voice as she came to a halt at the entrance of the luxurious dining room, internally cursing her thoughts. To her... plain bafflement... it was not multicolored lights and the scent of almond biscuits that greeted her, but steaming potatoes, hot vegetables and an entire... "Turkey?" She asked, seeing the young man Colin, Bellamy the Impmon and Luke the Elecmon already sitting at the table, waiting for her arrival.
Naturally, confusion overcame her, but it was quick to be dismissed. "Don't ask. We don't know either." Colin 'explained', he and the others having simply accepted that this was how things were today. Apparently, a strange anomaly had manifested itself inside the digital realm, altering reality in a rather humorous way. Christmas and Thanksgiving had become a single day, which at least seemed to be fitting in Cion's opinion. But how had it come to this? Had that cursed wish-granting comet done its nasty tricks again? Gosh, if only... no, wait, her host had instructed her not to question anything today.
"Okay... but it's 9 in the morning." She stated, certain that it was way too early to have such a hearty dinner. "We don't know where it came from to be honest." Luke admitted, almost as perplexed by this situation as the only female being on board Daedalus. "Just enjoy it." Bellamy suggested, inviting her to take a seat next to him. Thinking about it, Cion ultimately shrugged and nodded in agreement, believing it would be the best to just roll with it and relish the festivities at hand.
As she sat down at the table and filled her plates with big bits of the meal at hand, her worries vanished quickly. All of this could have been much worse, like Christmas combined with All Fool's Day or Independence Day (the movie that is). But as she saw it, it was basically the same today, although with more specific food at hand. After all, the reason for celebrating it in the human world did not really apply to them. There were no religious motives or capitalism's ugly hands tainting goodwill. No - this was about celebrating one another and showing each other how important they truly were.
The four friends present savored the square meal for at least an hour, cutlery covered in creamy gravy and bellies having a noticeable bulk from the plenty of food they had relished. The occasional burp was of course common practice, and despite Cion's typical grace and mannerisms, she had no problem joining in with the fun. There were times that required adequacy, but there were also fine times like these where should could let go of the more bothersome aspects of charm and simply enjoy herself.
For the rest of the morning and the noon that followed soon swiftly, they did not exchange any presents. It was not because they could not be bothered to gift one another, but because they already had everything they needed to be happy. Spending time together... that was the best gift of all. They would sit on the couch in a gentle cuddle, watching silly movies that were so terrible that they were actually enjoyable. Be it Thanksgiving or Yuletide, that was the true meaning of these festivities - being among those you kept in your heart and enjoying each other's company.
'Cause in the end, there is nothing more wonderful than those you call your friends and family.
