Always start with the breadsticks, as she always says. Well, not word for word, and not always. But at least in places like this... usually she'll say that.
The Ranamon Vetina was sitting at a table, nibbling on a garlic breadstick. Beside her, the Flamedramon Betty. The former having a soft smile on her face, the latter obviously looking like she needed more sleep Not to say that Vetina was apathetic to Betty's tiredness. She even glanced at her and...
"I told you I'm fine. Just had a bad couple of nights."
"... okay? Is the coffee ample ward to your tiredness?
"More coffee, please."
A waiter had just passed by. Even tired, she was alert enough to spot him and order another cup of coffee. In any case Vetina went back to nibbling at her breadstick. She waited in this Italian restaurant for a good friend of hers. One of several pre-determined meetings over the past length of time, as the other was often either away or quite busy. Her good friend, Yaku. Betty was partial to him as well, enough to agree to "translate" some of what Vetina says to him if need by, but Vetina and Yaku were considerably closer.

The man adjusted his clothing and entered the restaurant. He wore his usual grey suit and toupee, his briefcase still in his left hand He smiled as he saw vetina, explaining to the host he was her number 3. He let him pass and the man approached the Ranamon, smiling and holding out his arms for a hug.
"Vetina, it's been too long!" He set his case down next to the table, sitting down to relax. "Good news though, I've finished with my assignment. We can finally start dropping in on one-another again, like old times. I'll send you the apartment I'm staying at. Has anything happened with you? I'd rather not talk about my work if you don't mind. It's been a hectic could of months." He gave a flushed smile and picked up the menu. "It took me forever but I can finally get back to the human world again... I can only imagine how much has changed since I've last been. Have you visited recently? Anything I should know about?" He asked, slightly concerned.

Upon seeing him, her smile grew, and she embraced him with a firm hug. It had been a long while but she was glad that he was alright... and not missing any limbs or anything.
However, he unloaded onto her a minor barrage of questions and statements. Giving a chuckle, she rose her hands up.
"Aye, aye, let's stroll the conversation, a steak to be savored. And you, a large dessert to my visage as always. Laudation to your assignment conclusion as well."
She nodded a couple times, taking note that Yaku had not wanted to talk about his work. A minor disappointment but it was far from a damper on her mood.
"Your concern, appreciated, but false started. I and the cohort are fine."
"Aside from someone kidnapping you, you going off into whatever that... 'hylden' area is, some digimon from there trying to kill you and, no Yaku this had nothing to do with the ones who kidnapped her beforehand, or you getting pissy over that guy who cheated on you and got people to beat you up because you creeped him out."
"Hehe... and you, Yaku... stand as the featured highlight of my recent stageplays of life."

Yaku's arm would be weird and stiff, making her first paragraph slightly more unlikely. "I'm sorry Vetina, it's just... I always get excited seeing you again, I think you're rubbing off on me." He admitted. "No news is good news in that case, it's been a bit weird. I feel more at home here in the Digital World now. Three years ago I never even considered leaving the house or office. Thanks again for that. DATS just had me doing some... unusual things and I didn't want you or your friends and relatives to get hurt... although I guess DATS won't be much of a problem in that sense..." He said, thinking aloud. "And I meant Dark Area... I don't know what hylden means."
He realized Betty was there and stood up to bow again. "Ah, Betty! I'm sorry! I didn't- I mean no offense, I-I was just focused on... I'm so, so sorry. That was so uncharacteristically impolite, I-I'm sorry!" He would continue to repeat his apologies multiple times.

"Yaku... seriously you can stop. It's fine."
By this point she was given another coffee from the waiter. Taking a few sips, she briefly continued. "We both know that between the both of us Vetina tends to draw more attention."
"Aye, not a false statement. Pertaining Hylden... forgive the mirroring of methodology but it'll be as you unto me your assignment. A mess of happenstances and players making a muddy paste not sensible to just douse any with. Rather novella as well."
"Uh... blah blah, don't wanna talk about it, too confusing and long, to paraphrase. Although I have to admit, I wasn't there for most of it but, yeah, this hylden business has been a drain on Vetina."

"Right well, I don't want to make you feel too bad about yourself." He frowned at Vetina's statement, finding himself a bit worried over her issues that mirrored his own quite a bit. "Well I'm sorry to hear." He said, slightly concerned. The meeting was not off to a good start, it seemed. He asked the waiter for a coffee of his own before turning back to the two companions. He tried to think of what to discuss next, but found himself grasping at straws. "But it's all behind the both of us, we can go back to our lives now... and uh, for the record, I don't see why anyone would want to cheat on you. I mean, you've got a great personality and are kinda-" Yaku caught himself in what he was saying. It'd been 3 years, he was legally dead and not even living in the human world any more. Maybe it was time to move on? He shook his head, now wasn't the time.
"So... um... Betty, since me and Vetina are having issues is there anything interesting that happened to you? Any new friends, business ventures, or uh... anything?" He asked, awkwardly handling the topic shift like a schizophrenic handling a one man show.

Kinda... kinda what? Vetina was a bit perturbed by that abrupt end. Perhaps deep down she expected something that would... no, he had his wife. She may be a hopeless romantic but she didn't want to cause an affair.
That being said, thinking back to that guy, perhaps it was good that it wasn't meant to be. Granted if the guy was able to try to gather up people to fight her then he's not worth having anyway.
As Vetina replayed the event of her champion form backhanding the Garurumon into a wall, Betty had her own questions to answer.
"New friends? No... not really. Acquaintances, really. I just do a bunch of odd jobs. Bit of repair work here, some errands there. The new ruler of Whitewater pays well when she has me do stuff.
Oh, yeah, her and Vetina are actually friends."
"Ah, mayhaps I should stricken her with my presence once more given less density in her preoccupations."

"Oh, Whitewater's under new management? Anyone I'd know or just a friend of a friend?" He smiled softly, Whitewater was a nice place for him, recalling his first job after getting in the digital world. He wondered about that nice family sometimes, he'll be sure to hook up with them again in the future. He turned to the waiter and ordered a basic lasagna with a small glass of wine, having no idea what to get he just went with the waiter's recommendations.
"If this place is anything like the human world, the food'll take just long enough to have us eat all the breadsticks we can before giving us our actual meal." He joked, grabbing one. "...Do they even have an Italy in the digital world?" He thought out loud. "Meat grows on trees and digimon produce fruit and vegetables, but where does that leave dairy?" He suddenly looked grossed out. "On second thought, don't tell me."

Vetina shook her head once asked about whether or not Yaku knew of Whitewater's new leader. "Where you stand, friend of a friend. A capable aid if needing to counter certain issues. A treat of a voice and a greater treat to those standing in her close figurative proximity."
When prompted, Betty merely ordered a salad for herself, although she also ordered for Vetina a spaghetti dinner.
"Oh, a stewing of human and digimon, yielding distinct chunks and yet some homogeneity in its stock. To be expected.
But... mayhaps reveal what's Italy? I surmised a human food genre."
Scratching her chin with one hand, she continued to nibble on the breadstick. Betty gave a shrug, not quite confident in answering what seemed to be clearly something a human would be more familiar with.

"You beat up a guy for cheating on you... sounds about right." He admits, he began drinking his water, unfortunately cut off by the answering of the question he wanted to be left alone. He spat water everywhere "Wait, Dairy is... made of people?!" He asked, mortified and hoping he was just misunderstanding. It would explain why it was really hard to find a good cheeseburger in the dark area though.
"Italy well, it's a country in Europe. They invented the foods lasagna, spaghetti, pizza... um... linguine, ravioli, chicken alfredo... pretty much any food that kinda sounds fancy like that, it either came from Italy or France... oh man, that sounded way less racist in my head."

Vetina gave a look of surprise when Yaku was told that dairy was made of people. Because that wasn't what she meant.
"That was a comment on the cultural appropriation seen with Digimon taking up human traditions. I... we don't know where dairy products come from. They aren't really common here.
Wait do your dairy products come in stewed and chunky? Ick..."
The two also listened to Yaku explain what Italy was. The mention of these various foods were making her mouth water.
"So, Italy resides in Europe Area, a land of top shelf in meal types. Aye, this Italy tickles my ears for tickling my tongue and eventual expansion."
Vetina then stuck a breadstick in Betty's coffee, soaking it up enough without it falling apart before taking it out and eating it.
"Alas, awful still."
"You cannot appreciate coffee, don't you dare defile mine."

"Well, it can if it uh... sits out too long. Well, and certain types of cheese are describable with the terms stewed and chunky... Including uh, cottage cheese which they use to make some types of lasagna." He explained, grabbing a breadstick for himself. "I prefer tea, but Coffee is alright if there's nothing else. More of an American thing, it seems. The Dark area didn't really have either so I had to adjust to plain blood water or wine." He took another sip of his water. "Most of it's not actually blood, just tinted red by the geography. That's uh, what they told me, at least. Still tasted weird." He made a mental note to visit a human doctor as soon as possible in case they were lying to him.
"Well, Humans don't have "areas", we uh, divide them up into geopolitical sections, depending on who rules them called countries. Multiple countries form continents depending on their historical and geographical interactions, while some countries have states or providences which can then be divided into counties..."

"Blood Water contains no actual blood, I can tell you that. Unless someone puts blood in it. Pretty sure use of actual blood would require a fresh supply and... actually let's stop that line of thinking. Unsure if humans can safely drink it for long periods but since you're fine I guess its alright.
Still, it's the Dark Area, they aren't going to miss the chance to give it a cheesy 'cool' name."
Betty shrugged, going back to her coffee. Vetina tilted her head slightly at the explanations of human world geography.
"My bulb grows brighter. Gut feeling assumes such partioning entails greater complexity.
Oh, on water, threading through the Hylden area courses dead liquid... deceased... Betty my speech..."
"Corpse water? You can't say Corpse Water straight out?"
"H-hey... the computer needs some adaptation to some properly referenced nouns. Apologizes, please keep me unstaggered."

"As in water with corpses in it?" He asked, perturbed. "Or water that came from corpses?" He shook his head. "We shouldn't be talking about things like that during dinner, I may be a special agent but I don't like thinking about how close I come to death." He sighed, hoping the restaurant wasn't bugged. "Anyways, things are going pretty well other than that, then? No other boyfriend issues, human issues, uh..." He tries to think of anything else. "Whatever happened to those guys who had the traveling restaurant? I've been meaning to drop in and pay them back for all the help they gave me."
The waiter arrived with Betty's salad and their drinks before going to another table. "...Speaking of which, is this place new? I don't remember it being here when I last visited."

The two girls nodded about leaving topics involving corpses and water. It was for the best considering the Corpse water was just water heavily polluted with dead mutant Digimon data and the area itself was hazardous to most digimon's health.
"Lilly and the gang? Yeah, they're still around doing their thing."
"Yes, they continue to be perpetual in their doings. Consistency is their boon, no?"
When asking about when this restaurant came here, Betty spoke up again, all the while holding up a flier she took from a farther end of the table.
"It's one of those pop-up cafes, so to speak. The owners open up a theme restaurant for a little while, then close it, then reopen with a new theme. In 2 months it's going to have a new theme.
That's probably why you don't remember this one being here, because this place was only an "italian restaurant" for the last 2 or so weeks."
