At least the house is nicer this time, Adrian thinks as his family parks in front of a decent white-colored two-story home with a black shingled roof in Western Shibuya. Time will tell if we'll actually stay here...
"Hey, cheer up, Adrian," Adrian's father reassured him as he rested a hand on his son's shoulder. "I promise, this time we'll stick here."
"I'll give it a year before I believe you," Adrian groaned as he pushed away his father's hand. "When's the moving truck getting here?"
"In about half an hour," Adrian's dad replies. "Why don't you take this moment to choose a room? Get a good feel for the house?"
"Sure thing," Adrian replies as he walks up the steps to the front door. What's the point of it all? We'll just move again anyways... all because of me... No! Think happy thoughts, Adrian! Things WILL be different this time!
Yes, things would be different. He just didn't expect HOW different they would be...
As Adrian surveyed the house, he noticed how... bright it was. The rooms had white painted walls usually, and the floor was either light brown wood paneling or tan carpet. Thankfully, it still looked nice in his view.
He worked his way up the stairs to find nothing but a hallway with four doors on the sides. He opened the closest door to him on the right side, and uncovered his mother on the toilet
"ACK! SORRY, MOM!" Adrian yells as he immediately closes the door. "Well, at least the bathroom is there..."
After that horrific moment of seeing his mother on the toilet, Adrian checked out the other three rooms on the second floor. The one next to the bathroom was a super tiny room with dark walls, a change for this house. He assumed this would be the office, and he shut the door.
He opened the door across from the office, and it was a very spacious room. The walls were white in this room, but the carpet was a dark shade of green. Overall, he just felt very neutral about this room, and he closed the door.
The final room was right across from the bathroom. After seeing the varying rooms he had just entered, he wondered what this one would have in store for him. He grabbed the knob and turned it...
When Adrian opened that door, he was greeted by something he definitely was not expecting to see:
A TV right in the middle of the room.
"What the hell...?" Adrian mutters, extremely questioning the logic of why a TV would just... be there. Maybe the previous owners of this house forgot to bring it with them?
Observing it more, Adrian came to the conclusion that it was actually a really nice TV. It was flatscreen, and it looked like it could be hung from a wall. If the previous owners didn't claim this TV, maybe he could keep it! Finally, a nice TV to look at while playing his video games!
"Hey Dad!" Adrian called out to his father. "There's a TV just sitting in the middle of this room!" Adrian ran down the stairs to go get his dad, who was still outside.
As soon as Adrian left, however, the screen on the TV began to flicker and glitch out...

Today had been boring, especially for someone with a rather short attention span such as Haley Cameron. Nothing good on the TV, the lego death star just causing more frustration than amusement, and a digimon that she swore was getting bigger and harder to hide by the minute. Nonetheless, he, at least she though it was a he, seemed like it, was well behaved enough by this point to just hide under the bed with her spare mobile phone to keep himself amused and to contact her if need be.
Life though in general was good, if a little strange. Japan was a very different place to live in comparison to the good ol' US of A, even before you factored in the "tamer" stuff. Just what was that all about? It obviously wasn't a dream as she first suspected, the fact that Derrick existed disproved that theory in an instant. Trying to think about it just made her head hurt, and her new digimon friend wasn't seemingly coming up with many answers. Instead of going around in circles with the small red blob, she had simply gone into the garden. The fresh air was certainly a good thing to clear her head, and concentrating on breaking her "keepy uppy" record, kicking a football in the air and trying to make sure it never hit ground, was as good a diversion for a troubled mind as any.
Kick.
Kick.
Kick.
HOOF.
"Aw shiiit."
thunk
That ball was just gone. Right over the fence and across the road. Sounded like it hit something too, a car perhaps. She hoped it didn't hit a car, she hoped she could just slink on over and grab it without having to awkwardly apologise to whoever's car just got nailed by a miscalculated kick. The twelve year old ran off in pursuit, vaulting the relatively low wooden fence separating the small front lawn from the street outside, in her mind at least, taking the time to open the gate would have just been too long.
Turned out it indeed had hit something. A moving van across the street. She couldn't just whistle and act innocently now, it was too obvious what with her running out! She paused for a moment, almost as if the gears were turning in her head, trying to calculate just what to do.
"Uuuh.. Hi!"
Her Californian accent was coming through strong, even through her attempts at the Japanese language. In truth, she wasn't too terrible at it anymore, having picked it up relatively quickly. That said though, she was hardly fluent and was struggling to find the words a little here, a slight frown appearing on her scarred face as she concentrated on her pronunciation.
"Sorry about that!"

As soon as Adrian had run outside, he saw what seemed to be a ball hit right at the side of the moving van that had just parked beside his house. After that, he saw what looked like a... twelve year old girl?
"At least she's only four years younger than me," Adrian sighs to himself, "as opposed to, like, eight or ten. Might as well go introduce myself." After talking to himself for a bit, he walked over to the moving van, and met up with the girl who had just run over.
"Oh, it's no biggie," Adrian replies, picking up the ball. "That must've been some kick if it landed all the way over here..."

She took the football back, giving a smile and a nod. It was a cheap light plastic one, sort of halfway between a proper football and a beachball, the type that even one as small as Haley could kick for absolutely miles if you put enough legwork behind it, especially if the wind was blowing in the right direction at the time, which, apparently it was. "Yeah, musta been. Didn't think it'd fly off like that."
She looked up at him, then to the moving van. She certainly had to look up, she wasn't exactly tall, standing at around four foot ten compared to Adrian's six. "So, just moving in then? Explains why I haven't seen you around. I'm Haley."

Adrian kneeled down to Haley's level, as it would've been awkward for the both of them to have to look up or down at each other. "My name's Adrian. It's nice to meet you, Haley, though don't expect us to live here very long. We never do."

The girl shifted to holding the ball under her left arm, up which there were quite a few scars easily visible what with her wearing a navy blue short sleeved top with "free shrugs" written on its front. Burn scars by the look of it, old ones though, as if she had repeatedly gotten herself burnt by something small yet very hot years ago. In fact, she was covered in old scars. Looked like the kid had just walked out of an 80s action movie.
"Oh? How come?"

Now that Adrian got a good look at the girl, all he could think of was 'what the hell happened to this girl? Did she just get out of a gangbang or something?'
"Well, we never really stayed in the same place for longer than a year. My dad says this time it'll be different but I really doubt it. At least I'm still going to the same school this year."
Adrian didn't notice it at all, but Haley suddenly saw a bright light flash out of the second story window of the house...

(For future readers! Adrian meant "gangbang" as in, gang warfare here. Not what everyone else is probably thinking!)
Haley raised an eyebrow at the constantly moving comment. It seemed odd to her that people would constantly be shifting homes like that. Nonetheless, she tried to keep the conversation ticking along. "Been here, what, three years now? Came from California. My Japanese still isn't perfect. Seems kinda weird to be movin' around all the time, but, eh, guess I've moved around quite a bit too."
Suddenly, something caught the girl's eye. Was it just a trick of the light? Top floor across the street. Something was flickering there, something bright. Not a light bulb either, it looked all wrong. Almost seemed like the flash of a camera going off several times in a row. "The fuck? Dude, I swear I just saw something flash. That's your house across the street there, right? Second floor, window on the left." She pointed, indicating just where she saw it from. "Wasn't the sun shinin' off, that's at the wrong angle."

"What are you talking about? Aren't you a bit young to-" Adrian was cut off as he saw the light shining from his window, the very light Haley was talking about. "The hell? That's the room with that TV! Do you know if the last owners here left a TV behind or something...?"
Meanwhile, in that room, a mysterious creature now sat on the floor of that bedroom, along with a certain red and silver device...

"Bit young to what? Not like I came here on my own if that's what you were thinkin', jeez. Didn't come here by choice either. Dad got promoted or something. Had to move because of his work." She shook her head, before looking back to the window, trying to see if there were any more flashes. However, what Adrian said next, caused her to just look the much taller teenager in the eyes with an expression that just said "Seriously?"
"How would I know if they left a damn TV? Didn't even really know the people who lived there." Her tone was flat, dry, although she soon let up the attitude with a shrug. "Was it plugged in or somethin'? Might be set on some sorta music video. Something with flashy lights. Either that, or it's haunted, who the fuck knows? Hey, if they left it that TV's probably yours now. No one's lived in that house for months."

"Then why was there a TV in that room?" Adrian asks. His eyes widen. "I'm not going up there alone. Follow me... please." Adrian turns around and heads into the house.

Haley just put her hands on her hips, trying to figure this situation and what Adrian just said out. "Seriously? You're being serious right now? You, the... what are you, sixteen year old? Are so scared of a oh so horrifying flashing light that you want to drag a twelve year old girl with you into your house to check it out? Not sure if I should feel creeped out, or sorry for you."

Adrian did not hear what Haley had said, as he was already in the house. As he walked upstairs, he could hear a bit of movement.
"...Mom?" He asked. He slowly approached the bedroom door, and opened it slowly...
There, standing in the middle of his room, as a red dragon-like creature, sporting a pair of green headphones.
From there, Adrian slowly closed the door... and ran back outside.
"So..." Adrian says to Haley, assuming she is still there. "You're not going to believe me... but there's some kind of monster in that room."

"A monster. Riiiiiiight." She shook her head, walking away slightly to lob the football back into her front garden, before walking on back, folding her arms. "You're right. I'm not going to believe you."

"Wait! Come back!" A new voice called out, loud enough for both Adrian and Haley to hear. That red dragon was standing in front of the front door. "No need to be afraid of me!"
