The conversation seemed to be steered toward El Doradimon. For this, Rex and Roy were delighted to share the details of that.
"Yeah! El Doradimon is a giant digimon that lets us live on his back" the Guilmon said, excitedly, but his ears folded back a little as he remembered an unfortunate fact. "But... er, the other digimon that live there, they kinda don't like humans that much. I really don't know why, because I've met a few humans so far and you really seem alright...".
"From what I hear, a major reason was some kind of human raid on Luminas a while ago?" Roy ventured, scratching his head. "That's a digimon city that floats in the sky by the way. They only seem to tolerate humans, but they're a really strict society too".
Roy was only pleased to tell the Monodramon more about the language. "This is a rather rare dialect for the digital world. The main two languages in the digital world are Alpha and Logogram, which seems to be similar to your human languages of English and Japanese, most digimon can read those two. This here is a rarer variation of the Alpha language called Cyrlus, which I don't know the human equivalent of. But it's there in some places on El Doradimon, even if most of us use Alpha and Logogram".
The Cyrlus language was the equivalent of the human Russian language, but since Roy didn't know anything about Russia, this was something that was beyond his scope. But still, he could read such languages.
Owen felt really bad for causing the destruction of the ruins, going by Ayemi's reaction. "I'm really sorry about that" he said, intending to be more careful with the artefacts in this bayou from now on.
Well, for the moment, they would proceed along the path through the swamp. The path was much the same as before, but the reeds on either side of the path seemed to grow taller and thicker, and the ground below seemed to get more damp. Eventually, this led them to a clearing in the reeds, but, there was a clear obstacle in their path.
The road abruptly seemed to end at what appeared to be a channel of very soft mud that cut across it, 20 feet in width. It seemed that ordinarily there would be a bridge that crossed it, and indeed there was such a structure - a rope bridge with wooden planks that would normally be used to traverse the mud below. However, the bridge had seemed to be in poor maintenance. For one thing, the rope on the right side had collapsed, making the bridge effectively a single rope across with the wood planks suspended from it vertically, thus making it impossible to cross as it was.
Owen thus stepped forward, kneeling down to inspect the bridge. The wood planks were still in good condition despite their neglect. Soon after his inspection, he turned to the others to give his assessment.
"Right, here we seem to be at a bit of a roadblock. This bridge seems to be out, what with the rope of one side being rotted through and the other side barely holding up. But the ancient digimon that made it chose their wood wisely - Yew. And since I've brought several lengths of rope with us - easily enough to cover the length, I think we can repair this bridge in order to move forward".
"But... how can we repair it?" Roy asked. "We can't do it all from this end can we?"
"Correct, Roy" Owen said, smiling. "Which brings us to the next part of the plan - back in my old Recon days, we were taught how to traverse channels like this through jumping poles, or vaults as they're otherwise known. So then, all we need is a sturdy pole of some kind and I'd gladly demonstrate how to jump across, then we can repair the bridge and continue on our way!"
"Oh boy I wonder how this will go?" Rex muttered. But it seemed for the moment it'd be their only option. The muddy channel seemed to go on for miles in either direction, so their choice was either cross here or make a major diversion.

After that little ruin falling over escapade, the human and Digimon followed the rest of the group. Adrian's opinions about the others were pretty good, so far. Owen was a dunderhead who's gonna get himself killed somehow, but Rex and Roy seemed to counteract that trait about him.
The DFC leader Ayumi seemed nice as well. Adrian was pretty much friends with the majority of the club at this point, and he liked to think of himself as an 'honorary member' although he'd never admit that to anyone.
The group got to a rope bridge that did seem to be in very poor condition. If his years of playing video games and watching movies taught him anything, it's that when there's a poor rope bridge, there's trouble.
"Can't we just walk across it?" Shoutmon asks, like a moron.
"And have it break on us? I think we need to be smart about this, Shoutmon."
Apparently, being smart meant trying to try and jump over the bridge.
"Hey, wait!" Adrian says, pulling out his Digivice. "I have the Jump card! Maybe if Shoutmon digivolves, he can jump us all across the bridge." Of course, he waited to hear everyone's response to his suggestion before taking it.

Ayumi needed some time to recover from the loss of the ruins, but was soon back to her usual chipper self. She still took as many samples as she could while Solomon carefully listened to the explanations given to him by the two ElDoradimon-ians. Clearly, this would be a place they'd need to visit some day, too. "Ah, so much to see here, to much to test!" She almost didn't notice the precarious rope-bridge. Luckily, Solomon was there to keep her in place. "Ah, careful there, this could be dangerous. Does anyone have a plan?" Adrian had one, he would have his partner digivolve and then jump them over with a card. "That does sound like a good idea, let's try i-" "Ah, that takes too long come on, Solomon, let's find a way around!" Before Solomon could say anything, Ayumi was walking off. He sighed emotionlessly, then turned to the others. "I apologise. It would appear she has fallen wholly for her enthusiasm. I will try to steer her back to the group as soon as I can." He then ran after her, trying to get her to turn back.
(OOC: I will be on holiday until next Sunday, so consider this post my exit from the thread for now. If it's still open in a week I'll have Ayumi return to the group. But by all means, do keep going as if I wasn't there!)

(OOC: That's fine. You're welcome to re-join us later).
IC: While Rex and Roy were at the very least receptive to Adrian's suggestion, Owen seemed a little startled as to how little faith the others had in him. Ayumi and Solomon seemed to head off and find their own way around while Adrian proposed using one of his cards.
"Well... if you're sure" he said to the researcher as they left. He supposed he had no power to keep them here, and if they were confident about exploring the place on their own then that would be fine. However, he was less prepared for the alternative option, to let the remaining human solve this with one of his cards. "I promise this'll be worth it!" he said instead, removing two long lengths of rope from his backpack. "Rex, could you please try and find a long sturdy length of wood?"
"Okay..." Rex said unsurely, seeking out what was required.
Determined to prove himself, Owen pulled the broken bridge back across the mud channel, and proceeded to remove the old, broken rope from the planks. With almost military speed and precision, he then looped the new lengths of rope through the wood planks, and tied the ends to the wooden supporting frames on their side of the bank. The bridge thus appeared to now be half repaired.
"Alright, now to just cross the channel and tie 'em up at the other end" Owen said, then cast the far end of the bridge across the mud. As expected, the wood floated, which would allow for someone at the other side to simply pick up the ropes and secure them. "Rex, did you find a good pole?"
"Yeah, I did" Rex said, and handed Owen what he hoped would be a sturdy, malleable length of wood he had scavenged from the area. By now even some local swamp digimon were watching with morbid curiosity, most expecting to see a dog in the drink.
As Owen prepared to jump, Roy covered his eyes. "Oh god I can't watch..." he said. He could hear Owen's footsteps as he ran forward, heard a small grunt, then when he was expecting a thick splash, instead he heard footsteps on the other side.
"See? Piece of cake!" Owen said, proudly. Roy opened his eyes to see Owen on the other side. He'd actually done it.
"Huh, not bad" Rex remarked, as Owen secured the far side of the bridge. Roy wasn't certain that it was all over quite yet though, and held his breath as Owen then began to test the repaired bridge by walking across it. But, even as he passed the middle, the bridge held firm.
"See? By repairing the bridge, not only can we cross, but we've made the lives of other travellers considerably easier" Owen said to them. He even bounced a couple of times on the bridge to prove how strong it was. "That's what good digimon do after all, help out where they can".
"That's... not what I was expecting to happen, but, guess the guy can do some things right" Roy remarked.
"So then! Rex, chuck us that pole there will you? We might need it again later on" Owen said to the Guilmon. Rex nodded, picking up the pole that Owen had just used and tossed it at him as instructed. Owen attempted to catch it, half-missed, lost his balance, and with a startled yelp, fell face first into the mud below.
"Oh, there we go" Roy said, as Owen's legs sank below the surface, leaving a steady glooping rush of bubbles in his wake.
"Ah! Oh gosh! Sorry Owen!" Rex cried, stepping onto the bridge, trying to find the pole, which would have been useful in Owen's rescue but the Gaomon had appeared to take it under with him. It would all have been very sad, had the bubbles actually stopped, but, they seemed to keep on going, and moved steadily forward across the mud to the other bank. And before long, a very muddy dog digimon climbed out of the muck.
"Diving gear... always useful in situations like this" Owen said, removing the filthy mask from his muzzle. It appeared he had materialized it while under the surface, allowing him to breathe. Once again he had assumed a confident stance as though he had totally meant to do that, but he then shook the mud off vigorously all the same. Rex and Roy glanced at each other, shrugged, then supposed they'd continue onward, given that Owen seemed to be fine.
"Maybe one at a time across the bridge though?" Roy suggested to the others.

Adrian was a bit upset to see Ayumi and Solomon leave. He liked getting to know them. Plus, it was super awkward being the only human there now...
"Yeah, sure," Adrian told Owen, just rolling his eyes. So far, his faith in Owen was pretty close to zero. If he was lucky, he'd catch himself right before he fell off of the bridge...
However, Adrian was eating his words when he sees Owen in action. He actually seemed to know what he was doing, and in the end, he had actually managed to fix the bridge! Just to prove it, he even bounced on the bridge, too!
"I gotta say, I'm impressed..." Adrian says, smirking. Of course, that smirk was wiped away when Owen fell right off the bridge into the mud below. "Aaaand there's what I expected."
Shoutmon approached the bridge carefully, and began to walk across it. After he made it to the other side, it was Adrian's turn. However, when he was three fourths of the way across, the bridge suddenly snaps again. Luckily, Adrian had jumped forward right as it snapped, and Shoutmon caught his hand to pull him in, leaving only this shoes soaked in mud.
"That was a close one..."

Owen, Rex and Roy gasped as the bridge seemed to fail to support Adrian's weight. Owen was about to rush to his rescue but he seemed to make it. Thankfully Roy held on to his tail to prevent him running forward after this was made clear, otherwise Owen would've probably jumped into the mud again.
"Ah! Really sorry about that!" Owen apologized, astonished that the bridge had fallen. He was so sure that it would hold! It seemed the reason for its collapse was the support anchors simply failed to hold on the other side, coming out of the soft earth.
"Well... we're across, and none of us have drowned, so, I guess we're fine" Roy said, still, he hoped that Ayumi and Mono were okay. "So, do we keep going?"
"Yes, of course!" Owen declared. He took off his khaki tunic and brushed off some more mud before putting it back on. It'd need a thorough wash to get it all out though. They thus continued through the bayou.
"So, Adrian, you mentioned that Shoutmon could evolve earlier" Rex said. "What was that like? Was it scary?". The Guilmon was close to evolution and thus a little concerned about how it would go.
Their journey through the bayou would soon take them to another section of the ruins. Owen wouldn't tempt fate this time, staying away to prevent damage. Instead he surveyed the area for hostile forces, given that he could smell other digimon around.
"Looks mostly clear so far" he said. "What do these ruins say, Roy?"
"Hmm... they appear to say 'Go forward with conviction, but do not doubt the path you tread'" Roy translated, the Veemon looking confused. "I wonder what this means?"

"Oh, no, it's fine Owen," Adrian reassures the Gaomon after he started apologizing for the bridge collapsing. "It could've happened to anyone! Although I am the heaviest of the group..."
After that self de-motivational comment, Adrian gets up and follows the others along with Shoutmon as the group continued their journey into the bayou.
"Hm?" Adrian asked, in response to Rex. "Oh, yeah, he digivolved during this one training fight with a ToyAgumon named Agumaru. By the way, if you meet him, he thinks he's a normal Agumon. I recommend just going with it."
When digivolution was brought up, Shoutmon experienced something... unpleasant when he first Digivolved. Like, memories and thoughts that he never used to have. Memories of flames... burning buildings...
He felt a desire to burn Agumaru to a crisp at the time.
However, Shoutmon just shook it off. It was probably nothing... right?
Then the group came across more ruins. "Yeah, don't go touching things this time, Sticky-fingermon," Shoutmon tells Owen jokingly.
"Do not doubt the path you tread..." Adrian mutters, repeating what Roy had just said. "I think it means, go with your gut and try to not have second doubts. In other terms, just go with the flow."

Owen was glad that Adrian was okay with it all. Still a close shave though. And a reminder that this bayou still could be a dangerous place. He would've probably been a goner himself if he didn't have the diving gear, but, of course he was prepared for such measures.
Rex was interested to hear that Shoutmon had managed to evolve while in training with a ToyAgumon called Agumaru. This confused the Guilmon. "Why does he think he's one digimon when he's really the other?" he asked.
"Maybe he feels more comfortable that way?" Roy suggested. Rex supposed that was a point. He thought he saw Shoutmon's expression change, but dismissed the thought of it, it probably wasn't his business.
Their arrival at the second sculpture seemed to yield no clues other than the warning to not doubt the path one takes. Owen rubbed his chin as he thought of it. Was that literal advice or just some proverb? It seemed to be a little bit troubling, given that many paths through the bayou were lined with danger. But, the ruin seemed to act as another waystation, pointing the path forward. "Alrighty, go with the flow it is" he said, and continued further through the marshlands.
After another short bout of walking, they seemed to understand what the 'choose path with conviction' meant, as the road ahead forked into three paths. There seemed to be no sign that indicated the right one.
"Oh no... how do we know where to go now?" Rex asked, hesitantly. Owen meanwhile flashed a smile.
"Lucky we brought this along, eh?" he asked, tapping his nose. "I'll see if I can sniff the way to go". As a Gaomon he had an exceptional sense of smell after all. Owen thus sniffed down each path, trying to isolate the various clues in the air about what lay down the end of each. He tried to detect the scent of mudstone, but couldn't quite detect that. Instead he could sense other disturbing clues.
"Path to the left, I can smell something that's a bit like raw meat" he said. "Middle path I smell something with a bit of sulphur. Bit like swamp gas? And the right path, I smell... salt and stagnant water".
"Neither of those things sound good" Roy admitted. But those were the clues. "So, left path has some kind of predator, middle path goes through a swamp, and right path has water, is that what you're saying?"
"I think so" Owen said, glancing at Adrian and Shoutmon. "Any preferences, guys? Remember the warning, once we go one way we can't go back".
"Well, I can't swim very well, so, I'd rather not go down the right path" Roy admitted.
"And the left path, there could be something really scary down that way" Rex added, unhappy with the prospect of combat. Owen shrugged.
"I'm okay with either option" he said. He felt confident enough to deal with anything that would cause harm to his travelling mates.

Adrian noticed Shoutmon's expression change. He remembered what Shoutmon had said back at the hospital, when Haru was attacked by that serial killer Digimon.
Thoughts about burning and killing everything... Adrian wanted to help his partner out, but he didn't know how. It wasn't anything that Owen, Rex or Roy should get involved with, though...
Eventually, the group ended up at a three way path. Owen smelled the area for each path, and neither three sounded like very good options. All three just smelled horrible.
"Did anyone bring noseplugs then?" Shoutmon asks.
"Sorry, left them at home," Adrian said sarcastically. He took his own look at the three paths. "Decisions, decisions... Going down the left seems like a deathtrap at best, with the predator there and all..."
"The right path must be out of the question too," Shoutmon adds. "Not everyone here can swim."
"I guess we're going through the swamp then," Adrian says. "Everyone okay with that?"

Roy and Rex seemed uncomfortable about the swamp option too, given that it seemed to be somewhat just as bad as the water, but, the dragon twins didn’t object. They trusted that Owen and Adrian would be able to solve problems, with either Adrian’s cards or Owen pulling a trick out of the bag to help them out.
“No problems I suppose” Rex said. He looked unsurely down to the path. “Just keep going forward, right?”.
“Yeah, that’s the spirit!” Owen said. And thus the five of them took the middle path through the bayou. As they ventured further, Owen noted that the ground seemed to be sloping a little downward, the soil becoming a little more wet and dirty, so that the footprints they left behind became just a little deeper. Nothing dangerous so far though.
The smell was growing a little strong too. Like natural gas mixed with a faint hint of rotting eggs. Roy covered his face with his travelling cloak, red eyes narrowed with disgust. He supposed there was nothing else for it though, the alternatives were to swim or to fight, neither seemed like options he’d enjoy more than this. Even Owen was beginning to dislike the path they had taken, given his sense of smell was so much stronger.
Eventually, the path seemed to widen out – the reeds at either side parting ways. Rex was about to take another step forward, but Owen halted him.
“Stop, Rex!” the Gaomon warned. “That’s a peat bog, you don’t wanna step into there”
“Oh gosh!” Rex gasped, taking a few steps back in shock. One more step and then he’d be in trouble. Owen surveyed the area. It looked like a rather nefarious hazard, but, he supposed that they could simply walk around it? There were no materials to make a sturdy bridge across anyway, and this time the pool was fifty feet across, way longer than any of his remaining ropes could reach. He looked down at the muck, which seemed to bubble threateningly as gases from below rose to the surface, probably contributing to the pungent atmosphere.
“Well then, either we walk around or we could fly across” Owen suggested. But, Roy immediately caught his attention, waving an arm with horror.
“Owen, no! You can’t do that!” the Veemon said. “This area’s full of flammable peat and gas! If you use your jetpacks here, you’ll set the whole place on fire!”
Owen’s eyes widened, of course! How could he have been so stupid?! “Oh! Right! Thanks for stopping me, Roy...” he said. He pondered how they could do this. He didn’t particularly fancy a swim through this peat. And even if he did, he was fairly sure that he was the only one with diving gear.
“Wait, what’s that in the middle?” Rex asked. Owen took a closer look, then saw that there was some kind of red mudstone pedestal in the middle of the bog pit. And there sitting upon it, tarnished by seemingly years of filth and humid air, seemed to be two round metal objects. Owen took his binoculars out of his bag for a closer look. And there, on one of them, seemed to be a crest of some kind.
“Oh my god... those are digimentals!” Owen said at once. “But... how do we get to them?” he pondered. He remembered Adrian mentioned something earlier before. “Hey, Adrian, that idea you had earlier, about using a card to leap over. Do you think you could evolve Shoutmon and do that?”
Roy meanwhile was looking a little worriedly at the pedestal. It seemed to be shrinking before his eyes.
“Er, I don’t mean to rush you, but, I think that pedestal is sinking” he said. Owen looked and confirmed it. Damn it! It seemed that they had to get to them before they sank into the bog! Whatever they had to do, they’d best do it quickly!

(OOC; sorry if this writing seems very basic!)
"Ugh, this place smells..." Adrian complains as the group walked through this swamp. "It smells like my brother after he eats a bunch of takoyaki..."
"Just go with the flow though, right?" Shoutmon teased his partner. "After all, you di-" He immediately shut up when he let go of his nose, which he was pinching onto to block the smell. Now that he's getting a full blast of it, his stomach starts churning. "Oh god, that stinks..."
"Haha," Adrian laughed at his suffering partner. Their antics immediately stopped when the group approached a pretty big bog... a bog that neither of them particularly wanted to actually try to swim through. As Adrian tried to think of a way across this thing, the three other Digimon were also discussing possible ways to get across, but with no prevail.
"Thank god for you, Roy," Shoutmon says. "Otherwise, Owen might've ACTUALLY gone through with blowing us all up into data!"
Suddenly, Adrian looked over at Owen, who was asking him to use his cards to get the Digimentals. However, Adrian also remembered what Shoutmon said earlier. He didn't want him to get those bad memories back...
...wait, did he say they were SINKING?!
"Oh, this is bad, this is BAAAAD!" Shoutmon was panicking. "Adrian, digivolve me now!"
"But, your memories-"
"SCREW THOSE MEMORIES! THIS IS OUR ONLY CHANCE!!!"
Adrian hesitated, but then he made a decision. He raises his left wrist, which held his Digivice wristwatch. "Shoutmon, digivolve!"
"Shoutmon, digivolve to... SuperShoutmon!" As expected, those memories came flooding into SuperShoutmon's head at full speed.
"Kill.. burn... BURN TO THE GROUND!" However, SuperShoutmon was able to push those memories out of his head, just this once.
After Shoutmon digivolved, Adrian immediately pulled out a card, and he slashed it using his D-Arc. "Digi-Modify! Rabbit Feet activate!"
Suddenly, SuperShoutmon's legs felt like they were charged with a huge amount of energy! He immediately used his newfound power to jump across the bog, right onto the pillar where the Digimental was stored, and attempted to pick it up.
"Alright, you got it!" Adrian cheers. "Now get back here, hurry!"
"You got it... Cloak and Dagger!" Suddenly, SuperShoutmon disappears, and reappears right behind Owen.

It seemed that the reality of the situation jumped Adrian and Shoutmon into action. Owen braced himself for what was to come next, but, to his shock and astonishment, Shoutmon digivolved, then bunny-hopped over to the pedestal to grab his digimental, then teleported back. Owen was just stunned at how spectacularly the plan was rendered only a half success by this.
"Shoutmon... I meant for you to take me with you!" the Gaomon exclaimed, tugging at his own ears with frustration. He knew that cards could only be used once in a short time, and Owen's own digimental still kept on sinking into the bog. He couldn't let it disappear, not like this. But what could he do now? Even if he desperately swam and would undoubtedly sink into the bog after it, he probably wouldn't reach it in time. Was everything lost over this?
There was one last chance. Owen turned to Rex, the largest digimon remaining here. And he asked him a question that made the Guilmon highly conflicted. "Rex, there's nothing else for it. I'd like you to help launch me over to the pedestal".
"But..." Rex looked at it with fear, it was now just inches above the surface of the bog and still sinking fast. "Won't you be in danger?"
"Heh, don't worry, I got this" Owen said, materializing his diving gear over his face. "Even if I sink under, I'm not gonna be dying any time soon. I'll come back as soon as I can, once I got the digimental".
Rex glanced at his brother, who looked back up with him with worry, but, they both knew what to do here. Step forward with conviction, and don't doubt the path. "Well... if you're sure you'll be okay..." Rex said, hesitantly. "But, even then, I don't think I can throw you far enough, you're still a pretty big digimon, Owen".
The digimental was about to slip under the surface now. But Rex knew what he had to do. He'd do it for his friend, and thus, the Guilmon glowed with the energy that he had been trained for.
"Guilmon digivolve to... Growlmon!" he cried, growing double in size to a more wild looking red and white dragon. But still, he gave Owen one last pat on the back, then prepared for the throw.
"Good luck, Owen!" he said, then with all his might, provided the Gaomon with enough leverage to jump over the bog and straight onto the pedestal. With his additional weight it was pushed below the surface, but Owen managed to pick up the digimental before he did so. But now, the peat was sucking him down too. Rex and Roy could only watch with fear as Owen too sunk below the surface. Maybe he could armor digivolve into a stronger form to swim better? Although, as the seconds went by, it seemed unlikely.
But Owen's diving gear still held firm, allowing him to breathe below the muck as he gradually trudged back to the shore. Until finally, after some time had passed, the bubbles turned to a growth coming up from the muck, and once again a completely mud-caked Gaomon emerged, taking off his diving mask and gasping for fresh air, and failing to find it from the filthy swamp air made him cough.
"Owen... you alright?!" Roy asked. Owen just needed a few moments before he shook the mud clean, gave a grin, then held the filth-covered digimental aloft.
"Heh, yep, seems so!" he said, glad to have the artifact in his possession now. It currently seemed to be inactive, but, it was his now. And he'd never forget what he went through to get it. "Also, nice new form, Rex".
"Oh... right!" Rex said, realizing that he had actually digivolved to Champion for the first time. "Wow, this feels great! But... Owen, you look so tired. Here, I'll carry you back..."
"No, wait, we gotta go forward!" Owen said, coughing again. "Remember? We could just go around this pit, then hopefully we can find a path out of here... and then we can look for Ayumi and Mono".
"Alright then..." Rex said, beginning to trudge around the edge of the bog pit, hopefully finding a way forward. And thus he did - the path through the bayou seemed to reappear at the other side, and better still, led upward. Perhaps the worst was over for now?

SuperShoutmon felt like a hero for getting that Digimental out of there!
"Uh, Shout...?" Adrian says. "You forgot something..." He then pointed over at the bog, where the other DigiMentals rested.
"...damn it," SuperShoutmon mutters, a giant anime sweatdrop coming down his head. "Sorry about that!"
"Even in champion form, your stupidity knows no bounds," Adrian jokes as he shrugs, earning a very angry glare from the newly evolved champion. Luckily, everything worked out with Rex even Digivolving to a Growlmon ("Wow, you look so cool!" Adrian was fanboying) and Owen managed to recollect the other Digimentals before they sunk, although Owen looked very dirty now.
"Sorry, Owen," SuperShoutmon apologized once more as Adrian observed the Digimental, mainly the weird symbol on it. That must be the crest...
"Let's hope that's the worst of it," Adrian says. "Should we get going now?"

Owen waved off the apology. "It's fine, everyone panics now and then" he said. More at hand was the digimental in his paw, although like him it was also covered with mud. It was surprising how casual he was being, given what he had just been through. He then glanced at Roy.
"You okay there?" he asked, seeing some marks on his face.
"...Why are you asking me?!" Roy asked in a squeak. "I should be asking you that!"
"Roy was just watching you while clutching his face" Rex explained, given the Veemon had spent the last few minutes agonizingly watching the stream of bubbles approach the shore, hoping that they wouldn't end abruptly.
"Ah, well, I'm here now" Owen said, although more brown than blue. They continued along the path, then seemed to reach another part of the bayou. It seemed that they had reached their first major waterway. Unlike before, this seemed to be just water - no sucking bogs or quicksands or anything like that. As thus, it could be traversed by swimming.
While the water was a bit silt-ridden and murky, it was still water. Owen proceeded forward, and relished the chance to wash himself off. He did so, thus becoming much cleaner than he had a few moments ago.
"This water's pretty much only good for a bit of washing only" he explained to the others. "It's too dirty to drink, so best not do tha- AAAAIIIIEEE!"
He let out a loud yelp and almost jumped clean out of the water, but then rushed up to the shore in a frantic state. For he seemed to have picked up something under the water - an angry Crabmon, who had clamped his claw on Owen's tail.
"I'll teach you to step on me, mon!" the Crabmon snapped in a thick Jamaican accent. "How do you like tis you bumbling blue blockhead!"
"Oh dear..." Rex said, as Owen eventually managed to prise the Crabmon loose, then it angrily side-walked back into the river. Owen re-composed himself then stood with what dignity he had remaining, the fur on his tail rather unfortunately crooked.
"Now then, crossing water should be easier than crossing a peat bog" he said. "Everyone alright for a bit of a swim?" He knew Roy wasn't, but wasn't too sure of Rex, Adrian or Shoutmon. He'd be happy to help out where he could.

"I. Did not. Panic." SuperShoutmon said slowly, clearly a big aggravated by what Owen had just said. "Whatever. It does not matter now. We have the DigiMentals with us."
"Now we just need to find our way out," Adrian says. "Hey guys, I can hold your Digimentals if you want. You know, until we get out of here and all."
"Why does that sound like you're trying to steal them?" SuperShoutmon asks Adrian. Clearly, even in his champion form, SuperShoutmon still had that same sense of humor as Shoutmon.
"You know I'm not a thief... come on, let's try to find our way out." The group walked along the path until they eventually reached some murky water. "Well, at least it's not the bog..."
"But Owen's right. It's too dirty. Too bad, my throat was getting dry."
"I brought soda, if you're that thirsty." Thinking back, he probably shouldn't have said that... he only had a couple of sodas for him and Shoutmon. Suddenly, they both heard Owen scream about something. They turned to see a freaking Crabmon pinching his tail. After it had left, SuperShoutmon started chuckling a bit, then he and Adrian just started full on laughing.
"You know how to get yourself into those situations, Owen," SuperShoutmon says, tears running down his face from laughter.
