The door to Darian's apartment closed with a loud thud as the brunette reentered his place of residence. Kicking his shoes off, and walking to the kitchen, he placed the bags of groceries on the counter, taking out the few things that were required to stay cold and putting them in the fridge. Taking a second to listen, he could hear the loud snores of his Digimon partner coming from the back room. Darian smirked, it really couldn't be helped that either one of the two of them was exhausted beyond all belief. Now that they were finally home though, things were starting to look up. Darian was going to be seeing Kanna soon, there wasn't any trouble in the Digital World that he knew of, and lastly, they could finally sleep in their own beds.
Or really, Gabe took his bed and now Darian was forced to inhabit the futon in the living room, but still. It was his apartment, and he could finally sleep in it. Lazily throwing most of his clothing off, simply leaving on his jeans as sleepwear, he pulled the futon into its bed form and practically jumped in, allowing himself to be engulfed in the mattress and the surrounding blankets. It wasn't long before he dozed off at the early-for-him hours of 8 PM.
What seemed like a few minutes passed before Darian was presented with a strange set of chills that crawled down his back. Rolling over slowly, Darian wearily looked around the room for what could be causing it, expecting an open window. What he didn't notice was that it was suddenly ten times darker in his room. Darian wriggled his way into a sitting position to continue looking around, was that...growling?
"You think you're safe at home?"
Darian was instantly on the defensive, throwing the blankets off of him and practically leaping out of his bed.
"Who's there?!" he demanded with authority.
Unfortunately, he wasn't going to be gifted with the pleasure of an answer. Instead, a large, lion-like creature sprouted from the shadows, one enormous, muscular arm reaching around Darian and pinning him against the wall. Darian instantly screamed in pain as a burning sensation overflowed within his body. The lion creature lowered its head so that the two of them were face to face before breathing out a short string of words,
"I am the embodiment of fury.
With those words spoken, suddenly the creature erupted in flames, and with him going up in fire, so did Darian's flesh. Darian howled in pain as his entire body was practically incinerated, though soon the howls were drowned out by smoke filling his lungs and choking him. This was it, this was the end.
"DARIAN!"
A sudden jolt shocked Darian right out of unconsciousness. Suddenly, Darian didn't feel so hot anymore, in fact, he felt rather cold. He hadn't fully realized it yet, but he was sweating literal buckets. Standing over him was Gabe who had his arms on his shoulders and had been shaking him rather violently to get him awake. Reaching up to stop Gabe from shaking him, Gabe let out a sigh of relief.
"You were screaming in your sleep, what the hell man!?"
For some odd reason though, Darian wasn't in the mood to really explain, or even be consoled for that matter. He simply felt fear, and a small amount of anger welling up inside of him. Just what the hell was happening?
"Go back to bed." Darian ordered, standing up from at the same time replacing his jacket over his shoulders, zipping it up to cover bare flesh, "I'll be back, don't follow me. I just need some time alone."
Taking a quick glance at the clock to see that it was only 10 PM, Darian moved towards the door. He attempted to give Gabe a reassuring look before leaving, shutting the door behind him and locking it as a way of reinforcing that Gabe shouldn't follow him. Gabe was simply left speechless, he had no words to describe what he heard. It sounded like someone was being murdered. The screams were chilling. He worriedly looked towards the door, his hands at his side with nowhere else to go.
Just what the hell was happening?
