“A…train fee?” Monodramon inquired confused. Rain simply nodded at the question, then looked away. Monodramon wasn’t completely sure, he could just be imagining it, but he could have sworn he saw a red blush on her face.
“When we came to get you in the human world we, hum… We ended up incurring a little debt, you see. And now they want us to pay it, only…well…” She began trying to explain.
“You don’t have any money to pay them with.”
“Yes. Indeed.”
“So, what do you want ME to do about it?”
“We’re just gonna have to ask you a few question, that’s all master.”
“I told you not to call me that. And what kind of questions?”
“Oh, yes, I can’t forget. You’re to be M.M., right?”
Monodramon sighed.
“If just my form’s name is too much, then yes.”
“Fantastic. Then, would you mind accompanying me, M.M.?” Renamon turned around, but then turned back to face Monodramon again. “Oh, and could you put on your Holosuit?”
Monodramon tilted his head, but didn’t protest against the request at first. While the holosuit wasn’t his favorite thing ever, he still cherished it given how much a present like that was worth to him. As they walked, he took the holosuit out and donned it. It was only as they were nearly at the table in question, a short wooden table with two equally wooden chairs beside it, completely surrounded by all sorts of cameras, that the question came to his mind.
“Why do I need the holosuit?”
“Because you are going to be pretending to be human.” Renamon replied. Monodramon’s eyes widened.
“WHAT?!” The scream was oddly high-pitched in the holosuit’s altered voice.
“I kinda promised to bring a human for the interview as payment, or make 3 myself.”
“Can’t you ask them to give you some time, a little delay before paying the debt?”
“M.M., do you remember that old Marinedevimon we met yesterday?”
Monodramon gulped. That was one scary old digimon, the sheer pressure of her gaze nearly crushed both him and Rain, and his tentacles felt always ready to murder.
“hum…yes? Very much. You can't be really telling me…”
“She’s the one I’m indebted to.”
Monodramon gulped again. Yep, in that case, it wasn’t possible to turn it back around. Monodramon sat down in one of the chairs, while Rain took the other. A few digimon who were having a coffee nearby suddenly noticed our presence, dropped what they were doing and approached us with silly walks and their hands on their pockets.
“Are you that human and renamon we were told would be making an interview today?”
Rain nodded for both of us. That was appearantly enough for those digimon.
“Ok then, we’ll just in positions…” The several digimon each headed to their own camera or other video equipment, holding them or pointing them in our direction in a rather lazy and lackluster manner. “Alright, 3, 2, 1, filming!”
Wasn’t it supposed to be “action”?
“So, miss M.M., could you tell us a little bit about yourself? Are you a human or a digimon?” Rain started without giving Monodramon time to even blink. He turned to her.
“I…well…I…I’m a dig-“ Rain squinted her eyes at him “I mean, I’m human, of course, I’m human!”
Rain nodded.
“How old are you miss M.M.?”
“Age? I’m about 2…” There was another eye squint.
“Two times the age of your sister, who is 4 years old?” Rain inserted her comment. Monodramon swallowed , and nodded to her comment, unsure of where he even went wrong this time. Rain then continued. “And what is your gender?”
Monodramon almost leaped off the chair.
“You’ve been calling me “miss” this whole time, how do you not know that?!”
“Next question.” She was changing the subject. She was totally changing the subject. “Speaking of your family, how are they doing?”
Huh? So Monodramon had to have a family now? Why did human lives have to be so complicated? Think, think, but think quickly, time was gonna run out and he would have no good answer. He thought back to the times he spent in the human world for any clues, and only one thing came to his mind.
“They’re doing great. I have a nice little sister and my mommy makes me sandwiches all the time.” Or so he thought. This was all he knew about these “mommy”s or whatever they were.
“Do you have any kind of job?”
“No, I just kinda wonder around.”
“I hear you have a boyfriend. What is he like?”
Monodramon had to pause to register what he was just told. He couldn’t.
“What do you mean, I have a boyfriend?! I have none! And wait, if you knew I had one, why did you ask my gender?”
“Ah, I see, so it’s a one-sided crush.” Monodramon froze, unable to respond, there was a heavy blush. Not for the boyfriend thing, but for the trap set by Rain. “So, what is this “Cole” like?”
Was she seriously gonna try to have Monodramon pass as some human girl crushing on that disguised Beelzemon? Monodramon sat back down on his chair, tried to figure something nice to say while silently directing a prayer at Yggdrasil to have his life spared.
“He…Cole, he... is strong. And kind. He bought me lunch this one time, and even made some room for me.” Monodramon tried to come up with some way to paint a good picture with the least lies possible. “I really enjoyed having that meal with him and his digimon partners.”
Rain nodded once more.
“Speaking of which, do you have any digimon partners yourself, miss M.M.? Where are they?”
That made Monodramon drop a sweat. It wouldn’t make sense for a human to be in the digital world without a digimon partner, but if he said I had one he needed to show them. Where was he gonna find a digimon par-
Oh. Monodramon guessed it was time to flip the tables a little. He smiled and tilted his head.
“Why, it’s the digimon interviewing me right now, she’s right in front of me.”
Rain did not hesitate to turn to the camera.
“And this concludes this interview. We hope you enjoyed it.”
