I guess I'm also helping (Construction Job E - Otohime)

The plan showed where all bars were to go, in addition to the way the roof was to be constructed. Otohime then grabbed another bar and walked back to the house. "Eh? Ya don't have one a' what?" She then blinked. Naoko asked where the name came from. "Well, that's easy! Dragons are cool! An' I'm of course cool enough to be a dragon kid, eh! 'Sides, Otohime is a shitty name and the people who gave it to me are SUPER shitty so there's that." This girl better not be exploiting her kindness by asking more personal questions or claiming the name Otohime is nice or anything!

Naoko decided to keep it very simple. "Family jewels. Girls and the like, you know?" This...got awkward again. Naoko went up to help Otohime with the bar, and then blinked. Wait, so it wasn't like one of her anime? Huh. "...Oooh, cause it's got ryu which means dra--...I get it. Fits you way more than Otohime does. Uh...I'm not gonna pry into those people, though. Feel like it'd be better on both of us, right?"
Naoko didn't seem to be exploiting anything. She just felt like learning more about her unlikely new friend. It seemed to be working. "...Hey, how're we gonna get up to the roof of this place...?"

Otohime blinked, then nodded. "Eeeeeeh, don't be too sure, I kicked a buncha shithead girls in the jewels before and man did they fall over and whine!" Before she could elaborate on this topic, luckily, she was sidetracked by Naoko asking about the roof. "Oh, that's simple! We're gonna need to get the bars with the flattened end and make sure these flattened ends meet at the apex of the roof! Then we grab a ladder and fasten it, -then- we connect them permanently once they are aligned perfectly! There's also alternatives with side bars and pillars n shit, depends on what we have to work with!" She seemed quite secure in her skills!

"That's probably because being kicked down there would HURT no matter if you're a girl or boy!" Naoko wondered who or what she was working with here, but...This was actually a little bit more fun than she had anticipated. Getting along with someone that didn't know her sister was kind of a plus. "Okay. So. I'm assuming we do this stuff in order because this sounds crazy to do all at once."
Heck, carpentry as a whole sounded crazy to her. Yet it was the logical sort of crazy. She glanced towards the bars (wherever they were) and looked for any with the flattened ends. What did she find? And if she did find the bars needed, she would have dragged one over so that Otohime could help her. "...Could use some help here, Ryuko."

"'course we do it all in order! If ya do it outta order the whole fuckin' building collapses! And if I let another roof collapse my Teach's gonna tan my hide three ways from Tuesday!" Despite her general clueless demeanor she seemed quite focused and routinized when it came to building. She grinned when Naoko dragged the bar closer. "Aaaaah, great! Lemme get it up on the roof for later use and then let's finish the sides!" She looked around for a ladder, grabbed one, and then climbed up to the roof. "Think ya can lift it to lean one end against the roof 'ere? Then I can hoist it up on here!"

"Wait, ANOTHER?" Wahahaat? Naoko nearly dropped the bar as she did a double take before she regained her focus and lifted the bar, leaning it to the end that Otohime was at in order to give her some room to hoist it on upwards. "Yeah, I had a similar thought. Sides next." She glanced over to the sides. How would they handle that? Same as this one?
She shook her head again and focused on keeping the bar up for Otohime to hoist. C'mon. You got this. "Areee...we the only humans working here? Or people?"
It was a pretty good question. Where'd everyone else go? Were they on break?

With some difficulty Otohime managed to hoist the bar up. While she was clearly not as strong as the other girl Naoko knew, namely Yukiko, Otohime still could lift this. She wiped sweat off her brow, then blinked and looked left and right. "Yeah, yer right, we're kinda the only humans here! And no Digimon, either? They expectin' us to do this by ourselves?? How rude! Let's find the foreman and give him what for!" She climbed back down, clearly upset, and began wandering around, trying to find the foreman of this construction site. There had to be one, anything else would be unsafe!

Naoko sighed in relief as it turns out Ryuko had enough bite to back her bark up...When it came to lifting bars of wood up. She gave a thumbs up towards her and...oh god, that's actually a smile. Yeah, she did that before she turned around and looked about. "Well...No point in backing down now. We can probably get a good part of this done before they come back, if they do."
The thing here is that two hands are much better than one. "And when they DO come back...I'll give the foreman a piece of my mind, too." If she could. Honestly, she had no idea who the foreman even was.
The foreman was present, though. He had to be...Just...where was he?

Otohime had no idea where to find the foreman. Was he a human, or one of them Digidudes? This was all very confusing, not to mention irresponsible! "Eeeeeeeeh!?!? Where is the fuckin' foreman? Ya can't just have a construction site without a bloody foreman! That's fuckin' irresponsible! We need someone to direct us, lest we get hurt! This is fucking bullshit!" Otohime seemed genuinely upset to not find a foreman, which really seemed weird, as a delinquent was supposed to -dislike- authority figures. She then returned to the house with Naoko on it. "Guess we can't work more 'till the guy shows his ugly mug. Let's take a break, I brought snacks!" She reached into her backpack and pulled out some Onigiri and Taiyaki wrapped in clear plastic foil. "My teach made 'em by hand!"

"I took a look at the sign-ins on the way here...Says the Foreman's a Gotsumon called Guts. Like...uh...The guy from Berserk with the sword that sounds like a frying pan."
Yes.
She did just do that. "...Either way...Yeah. I...agree. It's really irresponsible for him not to be present right now. Seriously, we're two minors doing construction work..." Ryuko seemed to be stranger and stranger by the second. For a delinquent...She was really well-mannered. Naoko nodded at her when she proposed a break, and climbed down. Wait...She brought snacks?!
...This may not be so bad after all! "Huh...Well. I'll give that a go. I bet your teach makes...good foods. Thanks, Ryuko." Naoko managed a proper smile and took the Taiyaki/Onigiri if it was offered to her.

Otohime, with her mask pulled down so she could munch on some onigiri, nodded. "Aye. My teach is a real renaissance man, or however ya call it. He dresses like Emperor Meiji is still alive and among us, he gardens, he makes food, he woodcarves and he carpents. Only thing he was never good at was making kids." She laughed a few times. "Guess that's why he adopted me and taught me everything he knows. He's a strict-ass fucker, but he's got loads of patience for a street urchin like me. Without 'im, I'd still be stuck on the streets. Guess I oughta be grateful." She then looked on into the distance, lost in thought.

A renaissance man...That was a guy who had many talents. Many arts. "I see...Well, he sounds really...self-sufficient? Is that the right word...?" Naoko tapped her chin in thought before she took a bite out of her onigiri. "...Basically what I'm trying to say is your teach sounds pretty cool. Plus it...sounds to me like he adopted you so he had someone to pass his skills down to on top of...well, I dunno who'd leave a person out on the streets to wallow and stuff..."
Naoko grew a little quiet as well. To be honest? A few thoughts had been provoked by the conversation. Did she really have much room to be saying any of this? Then the fact that there was silence on Otohime's end hit her too. "...Hey, Ryuko? You alright?"

It took a bit for the girl to be thrown out of her thoughts. She shook her head and quickly regathered her bearings. "Of course I'm alright! Why wouldn't I be!" She then looked left and right, scratching her head. "Still no foreman, jeez! At this rate we oughta just sit here an' relax and then get paid, 'cuz I ain't workin' without a foreman!" She kicked up her legs, huffing at the lack of a supervisor. "So what do -you- do for fun? Got any sorta hobby? Car racin? Card playin'? Kendo??" She seemed earnestly curious now, even if her face hardly showed it.

"Just wondering. Ah...Maybe they're on break. Don't think I've got it in me to work a little more without proper supervision." That and it was honestly goddamn uNSAFE to do. "....Does sound like easy money. Which...Isn't unwelcome." Naoko smiled before she tapped her chin.
That was actually a really good question, what -did- she do? She had some experience in track-running because Haru forcibly conscripted her into helping her practice a few times. Card games, though.... "Uhh...I like Yugioh. Haven't been keeping up with it a lot as of late thanks to reasons that we're currently standing in...I'd wanna race a car someday just for the heck of it. Uh....OH! I did a lot of kendo as a kid. Dunno why I even stopped, eheheh..."
Well, it wouldn't be bad to pick it up again. Look where you are. "What about you? Any hobbies outside of the stuff your teacher taught you?" Naoko seemed to have come out of her shell given she was actually audible in how she spoke. Maybe, just maybe, she saw the weird delinquent as a friend now.

"Hah! Sounds like ya got a lot goin' on! I also learned kendo. Teach insisted. Said a good Japanese person gotta know how to swing a sword or some bullshit." Otohime bit into her onigiri and chewed a bit. "Eh? Hobbies? Guess I like explorin'. I spend lots of time just walkin' around. It's fun, ya get to see loadsa stuff. Oh, an' I like baseball. Teach said I swing the bat nicely so I should find a nonviolent use for it. 'sides that, well, dunno. Can't say I ever had the opportunity tha develop hobbies." She fell silent once more, just chewing and staring ahead.
