It was a day like any other at the Great Moving Library. Naoko was snoozing, Titania was...dueling someone over a laptop game involving some trading cards, it wasn’t quite as spectacular as it’s made to sound, but it was just like any other day. Quiet and unassuming like a Botamon on illegal substances that made it possible to digivolve to higher forms while remaining a Botamon.
Except it kind of wasn’t that normal. A visitor had come to the Library and knocked on the door. Once answered, she asked specifically -for- Titania.
“...Wait, why’s...someone asking for me?” Titania asked, looking up from her completed game and shutting the laptop. The Kazemon stood up and gave Naoko a gentle nudge to rouse the girl. “Huhwha…? What’s up?” “Certainly not your phone. Uh...Someone’s asking for me at the front and they didn’t give a name so...Backup, vassal. Provide it.” Titania explained, crossing her arms. “...How?” Naoko asked. “Tamer stuff. Help me digivolve into the giant metal bird again if I gotta.” Titania huffed before she started off, Naoko following closely behind.
Once they had gotten to the main room (where things tend to happen a lot, mind you,) they were confronted with a single Digimon. A Lekismon with a faded yellow scarf and bright red eyes. “...I’m...ah...Looking for my cousin. Tinkermon with a haughty attitude and a heart of gold, have y-” She raised a gloved hand and started before Titania quickly raised her own hand and shh’d her. “That...would be me.” She stated, popping her visor up and looking the Rabbit over for...some reason.
“...Selene?” “...O-Oh! So it is you!” The Lekismon--Selene, sounded so elated! Heck, she was even bouncing in place a bit. “Wow, I can’t believe you’re in a library of all places, I thought you loathed them? A-And you got a tamer, too!” Selene began rattling off stuff at top speed before Titania shh’d her even more. “Quiet! This place is kind of supposed to be quiet, you know? Uh...I...don’t know anything else to say. Haven’t seen you for over a hundred years and…” She trailed off.
“...I don’t follow. I don’t follow at all.” Naoko mumbled, Selene looking towards the girl.
“...Weeelll...Titania’s my cousin. She ever mention having a Lunamon for an aunt?”
“I know about a Gazimon X uncle.” Naoko answered, with Selene shrugging. “Oh, I forgot about him.” “...You two are terrible. So...Selene, uh...Do you want to sit somewhere? Catch up? Tell me what happened to make you go poof for a hundred years without even a letter?”
“I was getting to that...That’s a tough one…”
To make this a little shorter, the three found a room within the library and sat down at a table. Tamer and partner on one end. Selene the (Probably) Back From The Dead on the other. “So.” Selene began. “You...wanna know what happened? Short or long version? And...who’s your human?” “Her name’s Naoko Toriya. She’s more or less the reason I’m staying here. Wants to be close to her only friends so...Who am I to deny a vassal that for helping me so much?” Titania explained. “Oh, and...Whichever you think works best, honestly.” She nodded, Selene making a ‘hmmm’ noise before crossing her arms. “Well. For starters...I ran away from home. That’s the start of it. I went on a big adventure for a few years--Slapped stuff, saved stuff, lost stuff. Even made friends with a bug terrorizing a village...But you wanna know how most stories like that end?” “Happily?” Naoko asked. “...An optimist. I’m...real sorry to disappoint you, but...I kind of...got...cursed and stuff. Also died and...came back.”
Was that why Selene never came to visit? “Came back?” Titania inquired. “Came back as…?” “Not myself. Came back worse. Did...Worse. I don’t remember a lot of it. I don’t think I want to. Nor does the other gal…” “Oth-...Did you die TWICE?” “Y-Yep...Technically the other person’s supposed to be sleeping...I think? I dunno. I looked through her phone and...I think the third me’s a Cutemon--Or something called a Coolmon.”
“...So you’re not even actually here? How does…” “...Uhhhh...I...know I’m probably being selfish...I don’t like that. But...I wanted to see my cousin. I want to find my sisters--White and Medea, I don’t...think I know a smidge about where they are now…” Selene explained, fidgeting. Now that she thought about it? Mr. Hyde-ing her current incarnation’s body was kind of a bad move… “...Nnngh...I don’t know what I should do. Maybe like...write a note for her…?”
Titania just kept silent and looked to Naoko. She just shrugged. Titania knew Selene way better than her. This was more or less the fairy’s ballpark. The fairy let out a long and drawn out sigh. “You’re...still an idiot. But you’re also still my cousin no matter what. I...don’t think I can help you find Medea or White...But I know Aunt Filia and Dad still live in the Hollow...Maybe you can head over there and...I dunno. Maybe ask them? Say sorry f--...Oh…” That’s right. Selene ran away. Her suddenly showing up there would raise more questions. “Mede--...Is that the BlackLunamon? The one that hangs out near Haru sometimes and speaks in some obnoxious accent…?” Naoko suddenly piped up. GOD that rabbit vexed her to no end. “...YES!” Selene squeaked! “Wait, what’s a Haru? Did she get a tamer too?” The Lekismon suddenly inquired. “Errr...not exactly but she hangs out around here somewhere...No idea who the other one is though.” The tamer shrugged, twirling one of the ears of her hoodie. “But maybe if you hang out around here enough you miiight meet her? Or that other you might. The Cutemon. Er...I dunno…”
“It’s alright. Uh...Please. Don’t worry for me. I’m certain they’re someplace. I do need to go say hi to mom and...I don’t think my presence is he-” “Don’t you START with that! You’re not a burden to anyone, if anything you’re far from that. Auntie missed you so much, so did your sisters!”
“...Even after I was some...rebel that decided to run away…?” Selene had been looking down for a good portion of this conversation. She was baaaarely starting to look up. “People can forgive. Auntie’s...a bit of an ass, for lack of better terms but you need to remember something. You’re her daughter, and there’s...nothing better that a mom can give their kid than love.”
“I...I see.”
…
……
To make a long story short? Titania hugged her cousin. A lot. Naoko thought it was kind of adorable. And Selene was at least happy to know part of a life she was slowly realizing was more and more far off remained.
...And then Coolmon woke up in some dank library with no memory of how she got there. Being cool was suffering.
