When Beasts Walk as Men - Part 2

Tadayoshi stepped out of the portal surprised but also relieved to find himself outside the Trailmon Terminal. It seemed that he would be able to reload his digimon sooner than he had expected, so as soon as his feet touched the new kind of ground, he took his Loader back out, pointed it away, and told it, "Commandramon, Hagurumon, deploy."
With little delay, Commandramon exited the Loader in a very Pokemon-esque way, looking light before forming an armed dragon. "Yes, sir," he dutifully acknowledged. The other digimon, however, was delayed.
"Hagurumon?" Yoshi inquired.
"I'd rather not, thank you very much!"
Well, it wasn't like Tadayoshi could force the frightened gear digimon out, so he let them stay. To his new bosses he explained, "Hagurumon isn't really a combative digimon. He's probably a little frightened by the idea of a gang."
"I'm pleased you're not," Commandramon complimented.
"Of course I am. Why do you think we're here?" Unfortunately, one thing became very apparent very quickly: neither Renamon nor Yoshi's other comrades were present. "...sorry for making you wait. I guess the others are-"
"-right-"
"-here-"
"-thank-"
"-you-"
"-very-"
"-much!" Tadayoshi was interrupted by not one digimon but six, each of them saying just a single word as they flew by Tadayoshi's head, each one missing dangerously closely. The same sextet of Missimon also circled uncomfortably close around Sophie's head, too, before finally landing in front of the pair.
"Who's-"
"-the-"
"-lady-"
"-and-"
"-the-"
"-kitten?"
"Sophie, Lantis, that's Bonnie, Connie, Tawny, Lonnie, Ronnie, and Sid. Make sure you remember which one's which; they get a little annoyed when you don't." Tadayoshi silently wished the pair good luck with that, as each of them looked nearly exactly the same as the rest. Soon behind the Missimon, though, eight MetalKoromon levitated a couple of inches over the ground and lined up behind the Missimon in a perfect two-by-four formation arranged by the Latin script letters painted in red on their backs, beeping excitedly rather than talking. "Those little guys don't really have names, but we've been calling them by the NATO phonetic alphabet to tell them apart: Alpha through Hotel." Yoshi showed his Xros Loader screen to Sophie and Lantis then to show the message they couldn't speak but could broadcast using the antennas on their tails:
A-H: GREETING POSITIVE ENCOUNTER YOU Apparently that was their way of saying it was nice to meet the agents.
Renamon seemed to appear from nowhere just then. "You're early," she observed with no emotion.
"I thought we were gonna take the train, but we used a portal instead. At least we're here." Tadayoshi turned his back to his forces totaling 17 strong and proudly declared, "The Missimon siblings grew up right here on the streets of Terminus, and I guarantee they know it even better than most of the locals. The MetalKoromon cluster stay in constant communication with each other and can be tough to find when you aren't looking for them since they're so small and can stick to most any surface. If you were looking for a group that could cover a lot of ground very quickly... well, you got the right team, Ma'am."

As Sophie stepped through the portal, the familiarity of Terminus returned to her. It was still amazing how much it resembled Tokyo though, just with lots of digimon instead of humans. Most thankfully in their Rookie and Champion forms though. Order was kept by the city guards it seemed, Sophie watched them as they passed.
Well, as the portal closed behind her, she too raised her digivice. "Realize, Lantis and Enkidu".
The two digimon reappeared in a burst of light, the BlackGaomon with a neutral expression, while Lantis seemed more excited to get into action. The two then turned as Tadayoshi deployed and summoned his small army. Sophie held back a gasp as six Missimon flew around her head. Then they revealed their little quirk.
'Ugh, I think I'm going to get such a headache around these guys' she thought. Trying to hear a sentence from six different directions would be a challenge to be sure. "Hello then" she said to them. Furthermore, Tadayoshi had eight MetalKoromon, who apparently communicated only through his Xros Loader via signals. "Nice to meet you too then" she said, giving a polite bow.
"Indeed, you've amassed quite a following there" Lantis remarked, impressed. Then, Renamon appeared, stating she was expecting them to take the train.
"Well, we like to move around a little quicker than that" Sophie said, realizing she should have probably said that earlier. Besides, AEGIS agents travelling on the Trailmon would probably be a recipe for trouble, especially if they were expected.
"Now then. Enkidu, where is the location we're headed?" Sophie asked the BlackGaomon.
"That way, in the slums near the entrance to Old Terminus" Enkidu replied, pointing toward a part of the city where the buildings were less flashy, more plain, with a faded feel to them. "Best travel through the backstreets, don't want their lookouts to know we're coming too early, otherwise they'll escape".
"Right, so stealth is imperative" Sophie concluded. Well, making the way in the general direction that Enkidu headed, they stopped in what they hoped was a hidden spot.
"Our first step is intelligence gathering" Sophie said, then looked at Enkidu. "How far away are we from the target?" she asked him.
"About 800, 900 meters" Enkidu answered. "They're not that advanced or control enough territory to have lookouts beyond 300".
"Alright. So, we know exactly where they are, now we need to know what they're doing and what their defenses are" Lantis said, speaking with a quiet, yet clear voice. "Enkidu, estimates?"
"Well, like I said, 1 Ultimate, 3 Champions, 6 rookies". Enkidu said. "They hold shifts irregularly, but, at least 2 or 3 of them keep an eye out at any one time. Never the Ultimate though, but any sign of trouble and he'll be there".
"What digimon are we talking about here?" Sophie asked.
"The rookies are a mixed bunch. A Bearmon and a Hawkmon; then there's the Impmon twins, then a Monodramon, and a Koemon. Champions, they have Aegiomon, Wendigomon and Tuwarmon, and the Ultimate is a Karatenmon".
"Alright, thank you" Sophie said to their informant. "One last question, Enkidu, do they know that you've defected?"
"Not yet, I volunteered to go first to spy out targets on Earth, so they think I'm still doing that" Enkidu asked, looking a little uncomfortable. "They'd expect me to report once I return though, then once they have their targets, they plan on moving out. They also all have holosuits".
"Hm, alright" Sophie mulled over this, then turned to Tadayoshi. "Does your army have the capability of scouting around the target to find which digimon are keeping watch without being seen?" she asked him. It was imperative that they did this the right way.

The MetalKoromon all beeped and booped extremely excitedly when Sophie did them the honor of bowing to them. The reason was obvious, at least to Tadayoshi and co: they came from a place where they were treated as little higher than objects, so being treated like equals was still, to them, a treat. Sophie had certainly earned their favor.
So, stealth was imperative? "Somehow, I don't think that'll pose a problem," Tadayoshi confidently assured. "Of course we can handle that. However..." Yoshi looked to the BlackGaomon. "...I wonder why we have to if you're still in their good graces. The way you put it, no one should have marked you with us this far out of gang turf." Yoshi paused for input from his team, then, but they didn't seem to have anything to say on that. Perhaps they were nonverbally agreeing?
"General, your orders?"
It clicked then. "...This is another test isn't it?" Yoshi at first grinned, but that became a frown fast. "I question the wisdom of that in a real situation like this, but I suppose we'll play this your way." Just how to go about this, though? There seemed to be too many viable options... though perhaps that wasn't the worst problem to have. "You guys," Tadayoshi promptly addressed the Missimon, "You know these streets. Donnie, Lonnie, go back to your your hungry street kids routine and wander around the western half of gang territory. No one knows how to identify it like you guys do."
"It's-
"-not-"
"-a"
"-routine!" The two indicated digimon were the only ones to speak when spoken two this time.
"Even better, but no stealing. You have bits now." Those two Missimon flew off without any indication of whether they would respect that rule. "Bonnie, Ronnie, do a flyover. I bet you can see something from the air that they can't.
"You-
"-got-"
"-it-"
"-General!" those two traded off replying before shooting off.
"Tawny and Sid, that leaves eastern gang turf for you." Those two left with only nods of acknowledgement.
Only at this point did Renamon cross her arms and object. "You chose the worst digimon for this. Those six aren't exactly quiet. You should be sending me or the cluster."
"No, the General needs us here," Commandramon immediately challenged her. "Are we fusing?"
"I wanna try something new," Yoshi admitted. "Renamon the spy, MetalKoromon the watchers, and Commandramon the soldier. I have a fun little theory about what kind of fusion that'll make, so stand by for fusion."
"Yes, sir."
"Fine."
The MetalKoromon beeped in agreement, something that perhaps not everyone could understand but Tadayoshi could at least assume from knowing them. So he held out his Loader and declared, "Xros." Renamon became a little ball of light that twirled around Commandramon in a helix shape, obscuring him from view as she did. Meanwhile, the MetalKoromon all became another one that made it a double helix. The two balls continued to chase each other upwards until the being between them as a little under six feet tall. That left standing in front of everybody the digimon Scorpmon. "Boy, I love being right."
The new fusion took a moment to examine his own body, then his nice, long gun. "...interesting."
"With a body like that, I bet you don't even have to get much closer. Find a nice tall roof and do your thing. I wanted someone combat-ready just in case, but you're on recon unless someone is attacked."
The sniper with Commandramon's voice scoffed. "Closer? With this... I may just have to get farther away. Taking a position, sir."
With all his digimon gone, Yoshi couldn't help but smile a little arrogantly at Sophie and Lantis. "Now... I can only wonder what's left for you to do," he teased. Commandramon, Renamon, and MetalKoromon (8) fused to become X3 Scorpmon.

Sophie didn't think of the MetalKoromon as objects, they seemed to be digimon and thus sentient, at least in her eyes. Their positive reaction seemed to confirm it.
Tadayoshi then asked why they had to be stealthy if Enkidu was still in his good graces. The BlackGaomon had considered it, but shook his head at the idea. "Too risky. If I approach, they'll be too excited and might gather around us so that I'd tell them where the target is".
"Can't you tell them that Sophie and Tadayoshi are also holosuited digimon and that we're all here to join in on their troublemaking?" Lantis asked.
"No good. Bearmon and Monodramon can smell through holosuits easily, so they'd know they're humans right away" Enkidu answered. "Plus, if we do it that way, well... I guess we'd succeed in getting most of them in the one place? But unless you have a way of trapping them all without letting them escape...".
Lantis admitted that he did not have such an ability. Enkidu nodded and remained silent along with Sophie and Lantis as Tadayoshi issued orders to his Xros Army. They were impressed with his tactics indeed. They just hoped he was sound with strategy too. And indeed, that they were as well.
Finished with his preparations, Tadayoshi then asked what was left for them to do. Sophie raised an eyebrow and grinned slightly from that arrogance. "What's left for us? Our position will be the vanguard. Using the intelligence from your army, we will attack at their weak point where we can neutralize and apprehend as much of the foe as possible. So, for the moment, Tadayoshi, the stage is yours to direct".
From the Missimon scouting, Donnie and Lonnie would see a Koemon to the west of the enemy compound, accompanied by a Bearmon. From the east, Tawny and Sid would spot a Tuwarmon also standing watch, both of them relatively immobile, looking a little bored.
Meanwhile, in their flyover, Bonnie and Ronnie would spot little directly overhead, but if they looked into the windows of the building in mind, on the top floor they would see Karatenmon pacing impatiently, attended by an Aegiomon, Monodramon and Hawkmon. What they would make of that intelligence remained to be seen.

"Good decision, ma'am," was Tadayoshi's response to being told he was running point on this mission. It was at this point that the teenage General spoke to his Loader, "Comms on." It beeped once in acknowledgement. "Comm check."
Scorpmon was predictably, at least to his General, the first to echo back, "Check."
The Missimon all managed to call back, "Check!" through Yoshi's digivice at the same time even though they weren't all in the same place.
"I've got everybody. Talk to me."
At long last, Sophie, Lantis, and Yoshi were able to hear a single Missimon talking at a time. Lonnie reported, "Koemon and Bearmon guarding the west," before she shouted at someone, presumably her partner, "Hey, we're not supposed to stealing!"
"But I'm hungry," the male Missimon whined in response
"Put it back!"
Tadayoshi rolled his eyes. "I'm not sure I wanna know what they're up to," he remarked to Sophie and Lantis, but the next Missimon, Bonnie, called in before he could get too angry.
"We can't see any- wait!" As the Missimon zoomed past the windows a little lower, she corrected herself, "The Karatenmon's in there with Aegiomon, Monodramon and Hawkmon! Top floor."
Sid then immediately after reported, "We've got the Tuwarmon at the east. Heh, poor thing looks like they're gonna fall asleep there."
"Top, anything?"
Scoprmon's answer was unfortunately not helpful. "Nothing that the others haven't reported."
"Hmm. Well the goal here is neutralize them all, right? We're two digimon short. Standby." Yoshi thought for a moment. "I want two Missimon to stay, one to search the north and south sides. The rest of you, regroup. If they wanna guard every direction, they'd have to place one Impmon at each entrance, but that seems impractical..."
"Roger!" the Missimon all acknowledged.
"Hey. Enkidu. What are the odds those twins are just out grocery shopping or something?"

Sophie, Lantis and Enkidu watched Tadayoshi and his team do their work. They noted how well they worked together, identifying a vast majority of their opponents. However, three remained unaccounted for. The Impmon twins and Wendigomon.
Tadayoshi would then order two Missimon to keep an eye on the North and South of the building, then for the rest to regroup. He then asked Enkidu whether or not it would be reasonable to assume the twins were absent here.
"Hmm. It's hard to say with those two" Enkidu admitted. "They can be pretty sneaky, oftentimes they showed up out of seemingly nowhere, although I doubt they can teleport. And they also tend to hang around Wendigomon, so that they've got her muscle to back up their magic abilities".
Sophie chose not to comment on the fact Tadayoshi overlooked Wendigomon for now. Instead, she too joined in the questioning.
"Would there be any chance they're still in the building that simply can't be viewed through the windows?" she asked.
"I don't know why they would be, not like the place is on high alert..." Enkidu admitted. "They could be asleep, away on their own operation, we can't discount the fact that they're there somewhere".
Sophie didn't like that they couldn't pinpoint 3 of their ten targets, but, that they had so far pinpointed seven, that could be enough. Still though, she wanted a second opinion on this.
"Do you agree that we've gathered enough intelligence here, Tadayoshi? Or should we do a second sweep to find the remaining three?" she asked. She was then curious about their capabilities. "Would you have thermal imaging capabilities?"
"Indeed, Impmon and Wendigomon would leave a heat signature" Lantis mused. "But not if they're hiding themselves, Impmons can use Ice techniques as well".
"Which we have no reason to believe that they are" Enkidu concluded. They'd then await Tadayoshi's opinion.

Tadayoshi's expression became one of visible frustration for a moment when he realized he'd completely forgotten that Wendigomon. Rookie mistake! he scolded himself. But the boy knew he couldn't let his countenance betray him, too much, so he got that back under control as fast as he had let it slip. Boy, though, was that an ego crusher. He sure didn't look very arrogant anymore! When asked his thoughts on moving now, Tadayoshi shook his head. "Let's recon a little more. I wanna see if Scorpmon can mark them. Top, did you catch that?"
"Staying on target."
"Switch to thermal sight. Let's see if you can mark the last three targets."
"Copy. Switching to thermal."
Tadayoshi lowered the digivice he had been speaking to and addressed Sophie and Lantis once more, "Infrared sight is a lot to ask; I don't think I've ever met another digimon with an ability like that. But we got it."

"Very impressive" Sophie said, smiling at Tadayoshi and the resourcefulness of his team. With thermal imaging, they would be able to identify things through the walls of the building. Scopemon would thus be able to verify the heat signatures of the seven targets he had spotted so far, and, if he looked carefully, would find three more in the lower part of the building, alongside another shapeless signature. It would appear that they were currently cooking something.
Indeed, that was the case. In the run-down kitchen, the Impmon twins as well as Wendigomon were cooking up a meal to serve for the others. Both the rookies were kinda disgruntled at being asked to do it, but, eh, better than going hungry, right? Plus the kitchen had no windows, hence them being unable to be tracked by sight.
"Any luck so far?" Sophie would ask, not out of impatience, just she was eager to see if they were able to identify all ten of their known targets before proceeding in. As to how she would do that, depending on where the remaining ones were, she could have Lantis sneak in through an unguarded door, or fly up to the floor with the main enemy to take them by surprise. As BanchoLeomon he could do so very quickly.

"Three new targets inside, low, along with an eleventh signature that seems too poorly defined to be a digimon."
"How sure can you be of that?"
"Not certain but very close. All targets confirmed. I suggest we make our move soon, General; that Karatenmon seems on-edge."
"All Missimon, regroup. Top, standby. Ma'am, it sounds like we've marked all of them." Four of them, those who had previously been ordered to, made it back about then and eagerly lined up single-file in a horizontal line before they plied the General with their next query.
"What-
"-do-"
"-we-"
"-do-"
"-now?"
"Whatever it is, Scorpmon's right. It's now or never. May I exercise my advisory capacity again? As much as I like the thought of using an airstrike to wipe almost all of them out at once... we're in the middle of the city." Apparently, the inevitable destruction of the lower-leveled digimon did not weigh heavily on his mind even if collateral damage did. "Lantis... this is just a guess, but close-to-midrange combat would be best for you, right? In this situation, I would send you in alone because I believe you have the raw power to handle yourself. Whoever you aren't fast enough to catch - if any - would be sitting ducks for Scorpmon. But you two know what you can do best. What do you think?" Just as Tadayoshi finished speaking, the remaining two Missimon got in line.

"Good, that's the lot of them accounted for" Sophie remarked. The 11th signature concerned her a little, but, well, there was no way of knowing for certain what it was. They listened as Tadayoshi made his recommendations.
"Yes, I agree, a sudden assault would be best if we wish to take them alive" Lantis said. "If not, no matter, they can think about what they've done at the village of beginnings".
Still, Sophie hoped to get at least one of them alive, at least to keep as a warning to other digimon thinking they might want to do the same - mess with Earth and you mess with AEGIS. With that, she turned to Enkidu.
"What are the entrances to the building?" she asked him.
"Well, there's a front entrance to the south, a side entrance near the kitchen, and a fire escape running down the east side" Enkidu answered. "The fliers might try and escape by air, but hopefully they can be dealt with first".
"Agreed" Sophie said, then once Lantis was ready, the BanchouLeomon prepared to move out.
"I will aim for the Karatenmon first, and aim to knock him out" he stated. "Then I will deal with the others in the room, then make my way down through the building to get what digimon I can manage".
"Alright. Tadayoshi, your army can watch the entrances, and aim to take down any digimon that try to escape" she said. "Also, that Tuwarmon seems to be alone... that's interesting". Two rookies watched the other side meanwhile.
When all was ready, Lantis would make his move. He drew his sword, ready to strike.

Tadayoshi relayed all that intel to Scorpmon. "Do you have a good line on all that where you are?"
"No. Changing position. Standby." Scorpmon, from his position high in one of Terminus' countless skyscrapers, scanned the area for a better perch that would let him see more of the area. From his current stand, though, he thought he found a rooftop high enough to give him a line on the ground around the compound. Luckily, given the number of digimon for whom weapons are simply a part of their being, the soldier did not have trouble leaving the building or strolling the streets toward the new one. Heck, he even passed a Gargomon, a walking gunner, on the way.
"It makes sense Tuwarmon would be on watch alone. They don't need as much backup as a couple of rookies. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to make a successful fusion between Missimon and Hagurumon. However, Missimon-" Since they were being addressed, they began to pay attention again. Yoshi divided them into groups of two again and ordered them to, "-watch the side door, main entrance, and fire escape. I want you to spot for Scorpmon."
"Roger!" they all eagerly exclaimed at once before dividing in twos and heading off on their merry way, hoping to find good spots to watch without getting involved in combat. They called it in when they thought they were in good positions around behind building corners around the compound.
"Scorpmon?"
"Almost." Scorpmon was just about set up. He was in position and lying in the prone position on a rooftop, just calibrating for wind and distance. Once that was complete, Scorpmon made one last preparation. "Digi-Ghillie." The sniper would have practically disappeared before a watcher's very eyes if someone had been watching. Everything about him, including his rifle, matched the exact colors and lighting of the environment around him like the world's greatest chameleon. "In position, standing by."
"Acknowledged." Yoshi turned to the AEGIS agents then. "My team's in place. We're only waiting for you."
Scorpmon used Digi-Ghillie. -Like a chameleon, this digimon becomes almost completely invisible by blending into the environment for two posts. Using another named ability cancels this effect early, and moving faster than a casual walk makes Scorpmon easier to see the faster he moves. Cooldown: 1 post
Digi-Ghillie must cool down: 1 post remaining.

Sophie would wait for Tadayoshi's team to get in place. While she was waiting, and as Lantis would prepare his approach, she turned to the other digimon among them.
"Are you holding up alright, Enkidu?" Sophie asked the BlackGaomon.
"...to be honest, no" Enkidu replied. "Those... digimon were like family to me, now... I'm ratting them out. I mean... it's the right thing to do, they were going too far, just... I don't want any of them to die, ma'am".
Sophie looked at him with sympathy. The black furred digimon looked like he was close to tears, but was thankfully holding himself together as best as he could.
"Lan will do his best to take them all alive, if they surrender quickly" Sophie said. "And even then, the worst that's going to be done to them is that they'll be turned over to the Terminus authorities". She paused, before adding what she hoped would be helpful. "It would've been worse if you didn't let us know" she said. "We would've been much more heavy handed with them... plus, we don't know if digimon that die on Earth come back. If anything, you've saved them".
Enkidu sighed, looking a little more relaxed, but still didn't smile. "I still feel like trash though".
Sophie would simply have to leave it be for now, for Tadayoshi had given the all clear, he was ready. With that, Sophie would wave a signal down to Lantis to approach.
As for Lantis, he had approached the building as stealthily as possible, keeping to the shadows. Then, exhaling, he would leap up the whole four storeys, and burst in through the window to Karatenmon's room. The shock of the criminal digimon was so great that in five seconds, in a flurry of steel and a flashy punch, Lantis had disarmed Karatenmon and knocked him down cold on the floor, Hawkmon and Aegiomon had been reduced to their baby levels, while Monodramon stared at him in shock, paws raised in surrender.
"W-what do you want?!" Monodramon asked, horrified.
"This is a raid, you're under arrest for planning an illegal incursion to Earth" Lantis responded, coldly.
"Oh... no... you're AEGIS?!" Monodramon asked, horrified. "M-mega level?!"
"Indeed. Do not resist or attempt to escape, or you will be destroyed. Now then... lay face down on the floor and put your paws behind your back", he reached into his pocket, removing high strength zip-ties that he would use to hold the dragon in place. For good measure, he did the same to the unconscious Karatenmon. He simply let the babies be for the moment. It was then that he was distracted by commotion from the corridor within the building. At the other end, he saw two digimon approach - the Bearmon and Koemon.
"Guys! Don't! RUN!" Monodramon shouted at them, but it was too late. Lantis watched with a bemused expression as they both attacked. Oh dear, what foolish rookies. But, given that he was three full levels higher than them, he'd have to go easy on them.
"Bear Roll!" the Bearmon yelled, curling into a ball then rolled at Lantis rapidly.
"Pachinko Shot!" the Koemon snapped, drawing a steel ball with his slingshot and let it fly. Lantis merely ducked, but that was a good shot, it would've hit where is eye had been. And as for the Bearmon, Lantis grabbed at him at the last second by the belt he wore over his back, holding the little brown mammal digimon up, then, deftly ziptied all four paws together, holding him in the ball he was in.
"Hey! Stop! Let me go!" the Bearmon wailed, struggling.
"Alright then" Lantis said, then rolled him straight back at the Koemon, who was too busy preparing a second shot to react in time. Bearmon slammed into his face, and the monkey digimon was knocked down.
"Damn it Lan, stop being such a showoff..." Sophie muttered, watching this through her binoculars. The BanchoLeomon thus binded Koemon securely as well, then looked at the stairway, wondering whether to go up to deal with the Tuwarmon, or down to deal with the Impmon twins and Wendigomon.
However, Tuwarmon would not come down that way. Silently, the yellow warrior digimon made his way across the roof to the window, silently lowering himself down. He was looking in to aim where Lantis's back was turned, but, was in clear range of Scorpmon if he chose to attack here.

Scorpmon battle theme:
Enkidu's hesitance was not something Tadayoshi personally appreciated. In fact it just made him suspicious of Enkidu. I don't know this guy or his motives for turning. His intel's been good, but who the hell feels like trash for doing the right thing? People who turn spineless when the correct choice is obvious concern me. Yoshi narrowed his eyes as he listened to Enkidu but didn't dare voice his objections when Sophie so eagerly trusted him. He thought he knew how that would end: Sophie would grow suspicious of himself and his reliability.
But he couldn't resist slipping in his two cents either. "Choosing between right and wrong shouldn't be difficult, especially since you seem to know the difference in this case. Best advice I ever got was to remember that it doesn't matter if people are nice because that's purely situational. The important thing is whether they're good." If Enkidu was genuine, hopefully that would be a comfort. If it wasn't, well, then let it be an insult. Either outcome worked fine for the General, and in either case he still gave his ready signal when it was time.
Of course, at first, it didn't seem like there was a whole lot to do. Tadayoshi wasn't willing to say it out loud, but as he watched a mega level digimon at work with his own binocs he knew he and his team were absolutely outclassed. Lantis accomplished alone easily what might have taken Silence its whole team to just have a chance at. "Whoa."
"I like this one." It seemed even the highly disciplined Scorpmon couldn't resist expressing his own admiration of the lion. "Acquiring target. Orders are minimum force here, yes?"
What an odd question. "Um... I think so. Why?"
"Merely adjusting my aim." Scorpmon's crosshairs were trained quite precisely on the sneaky Tuwarmon's digicore near the center of his body, but he adjusted in order to make his X3-level attack a little less lethal to go for the shoulder instead. "Target acquired. Firing." Neither Tuwarmon nor Lantis, nor Sophie and Tadayoshi nor even Scorpmon himself could easily hear the sound made when Scorpmon's metal bullet exited the suppressed barrel and drilled toward Tuwarmon. Ideally, neither would either of the Impmon twins or the Wendigomon on a lower floor. Scorpmon was hoping that Lan's takedown was quiet and far enough that the group was unalert. "Acquiring second target."
"Ma'am, if you can reach Lantis, you should tell him to rush downstairs. I know what Scorpmon is planning."
"Target acquired." Yes, it was true that the Wendigomon and the twins weren't in plain visual sight, but thermal sight was another matter. That meant they weren't easily in the path of a bullet, but Scorpmon had an answer for that, too. When he used the bolt action to eject the used shell, he replaced it with another one much more powerful but in shorter supply: a high-velocity penetrator. When that was done, he was trained on Wendigomon's shoulder. "Firing."
This shot did ring out, and boy was it a real bang! Tadayoshi practically had to cover his ears even from his distance. Hopefully the citizens of Terminus wouldn't be too scared... Scorpmon attacked Tuwarmon with Silenced Snipe. -Digi-Ghillie is active. Silent Snipe does not take an action. -Silent Snipe: This digimon's rifle muzzle morphs into a suppressor. Then, he shoots at the opponent with a metal bullet to deal damage. While Digi-Ghillie is active: this ability does not take the post's action and does not disrupt the effect of Digi-Ghillie, but this ability gains a cooldown of 3 posts. Scorpmon attacked Wendigomon with High-Velocity Penetrator. -This ability prematurely ended the effect of Digi-Ghillie.
-High-Velocity Penetrator: This digimon fires a single metal bullet at an opponent out of his rifle. This bullet is capable of shooting through several trees, buildings, some sheets of metal, and even multiple digimon with minimal change in velocity. The energy this round carries ups its destructive power by 50%. Cooldown: 2 posts.
Digi-Ghillie has finished cooling down. Silent Snipe must cool down: 3 posts remaining. High-Velocity Penetrator must cool down: 2 posts remaining.

When Sophie heard Enkidu's troubles, on the outside, she tried to accommodate him, but on the inside, she was troubled. Of course, the reasons why he felt so bad were understandable, standing here with the people he had turned in his "family" to while they responded with Mega level force, that must be uncomfortable. Still though, it was a little disturbing, and she would pay more attention to the BlackGaomon while he was with them. Yet, she didn't feel any immediate threat. Enkidu hadn't said this unprompted, she asked him a question, he answered honestly, and that was that. Sophie imagined she'd have similar feelings if she was in a position of having to apprehend Colin and his partners like this. But thankfully that wouldn't occur. Enkidu listened to Tadayoshi's words meanwhile, then gave a small smile and a nod of acknowledgement. "Thanks... that... really clears it up a lot" he said. These digimon may be his "family", but they were also planning evil, and needed to be stopped. That they would not be erased as far as AEGIS could help it, that was reassuring. Meanwhile, as the operation was underway, Lantis whipped around as he heard the sound from the window. It was faint, but, for a moment, he thought he might have been in danger. That thought was rendered obsolete when he realized what he had heard. That was merely a grunt of pain from Tuwarmon, who had apparently planned to attack him from behind, but, somehow, the guardian digimon had suffered an injury that rendered him neutralized, and he'd merely fall to the ground below. What little control of his body he had left cushioned his fall, but he was for the moment immobilized from Scorpmon's shot. Meanwhile, Sophie paid attention to Tadayoshi, then nodded, speaking into her digivice. "Lantis, head downstairs, they've got the last digimon here pinned down" she said, as Scorpmon shot a piercing round through the wall that struck Wendigomon. As she said that, and as Lantis hurtled down the delipidated building to where the last corner of resistance was, the last three digimon reacted to Scorpmon's penetrating shot. Wendigomon roared in pain and agony, while the Impmon twins gasped, then rushed out in an attempt to escape. There was no way they were sticking around here, but, then they found themselves in a corridor facing what appeared to be a Leomon in a cape.
"You ain't so tough! Baddaboom!" one of the twins snarled, launching a fireball.
"Night of Ice!" the other shouted, and launched a freezing ball of ice. Lantis almost lazily deflected them both with his sword, making them both stare with shock.
"Do you know what digimon I am?" he asked them as he approached. The two Impmon whimpered as they retreated. "B-banchoLeomon" the girl replied. Lantis noticed the faces on their chests differed. The girl's was sad, while the boy's was laughing. Tragedy and Comedy. Heh, fortunate he had evolved to this level, these might have been a tricky duo at a lower level. The Wendigomon behind them was virtually immobilized from Scorpmon's shot, so she was unable to intervene. "How many levels above Rookie is Mega then?" Lantis continued, stepping further, until the Impmons had their backs to the kitchen wall. "T-three" the male Impmon replied. "Correct" Lantis said, then, with a deft movement, grabbed them both by their tails, hurled them to the ground, then, with minimal force, smacked both of their bottoms with the flat of his sword blade repeatedly. "THIS is WHAT you GET for FUCKING aROUND with ilLEGAL inCURSIONS to EARTH!" he snapped, both of them yelping and flinching at each strike, humiliated, but not critically hurt. With no more to say, Lantis proceeded to ziptie them, as well as the Wendigomon. Well, that was all 10 digimon accounted for. Lantis returned the communication to Sophie. "The building's secure, we can move in now" he told her. Sophie gave an exhalation of relief, turning to Tadayoshi. "Guess that's that then, as long as you confirm" she said. If so, they would approach the building to gather the captive digimon to formally turn them over to the Terminus authorities, which would be contacted as soon as Tadayoshi confirmed that all was well in the vicinity.

"Lantis reports all clear, Top. Confirm?"
"Confirmed, all targets secured. No injuries, no casualties." He could be heard snickering then. "Well... no injuries to us."
Yoshi chortled a little, too, amused by Scorpmon's own amusement. "What he means is it's all clear." As he arrived at the scene he passed the wounded Tuwarmon and, while he wasn't fearful per se, he still kept a safe distance out of healthy respect for the power of an unrestrained champion level digimon. "Oof. No hard feelings? Ma'am, you should restrain this digimon, too, just for safety. Are you coming, Scorpmon?"
"Building security is understandably concerned about gunshots from its upper floors. I'll be along after we sort out the confusion."
"Sounds good." As things seemed to be winding down, the Missimon, who apparently weren't needed as spotters, all line up in their perfect three-by-two formation in front of Tadayoshi.
"You-"
"-are-"
"-so-"
"-freaking-"
"-awesome-" Tadayoshi actually let the compliment go to his head a little, but he was grounded again very quickly.
"-Sophie!"
Ouch. Tadayoshi went ahead and changed the subject so he wouldn't have to think about that sting too long. "Well if there's nothing else here, I seem to recall this op interrupting a job interview. Is the position still open?" There was a definite change in the young Xros General's body language now. He was taking this girl and their work much more seriously, and his body language as he asked about that seemed to become more formal to the point of being overly stiff.
