Levi slowly lifted his head from the counter to see the Dorumon fully dressed to teach him everything he needed to know about dating. The Veemon chuckled, suddenly, he wasn't so embarrassed anymore, even though he did feel there had been some kind of miscommunication. There was a part of him that wanted to take notes, but it wasn't as if there was a specific digimon he had had in mind. Though, if he really considered it, he supposed he was, at the very least, the type to crush on a stronger digimon.
Oh, crap, should I be paying attention!?
As Levi continued to ponder how seriously he should be taking his lesson, Alan was ensuring he remembered all of what the other tamer had to say. "Well, Levi's actually a Free type, but it shouldn't matter, anyway. I don't exactly feel compelled to visit the place. I've yet to hear a positive thing about it, and the kind of attitude you're describing can get on my nerves really easily."
Yuuki then listed a few places that were good, safe, or at least decent to visit. "Oh, I've actually been to Snowflake already, and Rosewood's where I stay most of the time. Yeah, it's a really nice place. Haven't heard much about Rustport, but I've been really wanting to go to Whitewater at least once! It sounds fun with other people, and a nice way to be eased out of my comfort zone a bit."
"...well, I don't think I'd like to go to a place called the 'Dark Area' very much anyway, and I've not heard a single word about Eldoradimon, so... thanks for warning me. I'll keep this in mind. Let's see... questions.... oh! Just thought of this: I haven't really run into any problems with this yet, but just in case, do any of these towns, or the digital world in general, have special laws or rules of etiquette that I should be aware of before visiting? The places that are nicer to humans, that is."

"Also, while surprises can be good, I feel you should first make sure to talk to them what sort of likes you like. For example, if you like romance movie, or comedy movie, what you don't like... it's alright to ask that during the first thing, because I feel that shows you you're serious in knowing what their likes and dislikes. Make sure to keep a mental note. Don't bring in real note. Just try to remember everything. Prioritizes the 'fatal mistakes' as ones that you shouldn't cross..."
Muting Hikaru's explanation a bit, Yuuki's side meanwhile began his explanation for Alan.
"Basically, your general idea is first to not scan any digimons out of random. Your digivice, you see, have a built in scanner. In some case it's not the digivice but the D-Terminal, like mine. No one actually uses it that much, but it's important to know that it's still a piece of good technology regardless. However, the moment you scan someone, you can be perceived as trying to dig for weakness. Digimons usually hate this. If you want to know their species, ask the person directly, or your partner.
General law is usually strictest in Terminus... well, I haven't gone to Luminas, but I felt that one is strict + merciless... kinda the same like El Doradimon. Whitewater is not as strict as Terminus I think. Caritas is there, and that's a giant clubhouse, so people get drunk and act stupid all the time, as long as you don't begin to harm actual someone, the police won't get involved. Snowflake and Rosewood probably only have small security force, so they're probably not as well equipped to deal with chaos. Well, those two are idyllic places anyway, so it's least likely there are problems, but... Rustport probably the least orderly.. .It's not the fault of the city, more like the people on the western side usually a bit rougher, you know?
General etiquette is basically just common sense. Don't be racist, don't be an idiot, don't challenge the digimon in dick measuring contest out of feeling of superiority just because you have a partner. You can help around in job around digital world if you want brownie points, those are nice, yeah, and give you some nice cash. Any other question?"

Levi's mind was still wandering, if he was being honest with himself, but he still felt he got a good gist of Hikaru's explanation so far. Mostly, he was basking in the warm feeling he got from listening to others talk about things they're passionate about. In that regard, getting to know a potential date's likes and dislikes probably wouldn't be too hard for him. Hmm... what were his likes and dislikes? For one thing, he figured most of his likes and dislikes were the same as Alan's, and it was easy to see why. Was this a bad thing? Should he be more focused on finding his own things? Nah, he shouldn't force it. If he finds his own thing to like, he does. It wouldn't be as fun if he went out of his way for it.
Meanwhile, Alan couldn't allow his mind to wander. He was being given important information. Well, more important, anyway. He wouldn't want to downplay the importance of healthy relationships. "Right, right, I'm understanding this. Stay away from places I'm unwelcome or not allowed, I like to think I've got common sense etiquette covered, my self-esteem is too low to do anything stupid out of a feeling of superiority, and I like helping people, so I think the jobs would be fun. I don't have any questions that come to mind at the moment. Is there anything else in particular we should know about?"

"By the way, if you don't know your likes and dislikes, you should probably try to be adventurous. Being polite is nice and all, but don't forget, honesty is important. If you can't stomach something or it bothered you too much, you should speak it out. Don't be shy when it comes to your likes and dislikes, because it's important for a good date. After all, a date is only a good date when two of you enjoyed it." Hikaru continued, almost as if reading mind. Did he really? No, he simply just following up from his previous explanation.
"Things that you should know... let's see... Hmmm... Oh right... Digital World is actually a flat world... apparently. So contrary to expectation, travelling with trains are far easier. It's also... if I can say, rather small. But if you somehow missed your ride and had to camp outside, my suggestion is to invest on camping gear. Well, Digiports are there to return you back to real world or closest town, but... let's say you have to spend night in for whatever reason... camping with friends is great. If you have to go solo, try to let your digimon sleep first, because the later the night is, usually the more wild Digimons tends to be active... either that or invest in mercenary that can help you. Looking food tends to be nonissue as there are tons of vending machines. You can buy food outta them... hmmm, anything else I wonder...?"

"Hmm... so that's the idea..." said Levi, thoughtfully. "It's true; I really don't know what I like most of the time, but... there's a lot I'm willing to try. Now..." Levi propped himself up to sit up straight. "There's probably more you wanted to tell me, but... mind if we put this on hold and change the subject? Or at least alter it. By which I mean, I don't know if you have some dating stories you don't mind sharing. A Dating Master is sure to have a few to tell, I bargain...?"
Alan appeared to be having similar thoughts. "Thank you so much for this information. It's a big help. However, you don't suppose we could talk about something else for a bit, if that's alright? I'd feel bad about asking you about your previous experiences when I don't have too many of my own, and the ones I do have aren't something I particularly enjoy talking about..." Alan spent a short time in thought. "Oh, I know! What about Aeterna? You two are the owners, I presume? Or even the founders? Either way, how'd you two come to work here?"

"Oh what is this, some question about juicy stories? Now that's some tall order~" Hikaru teased. But for some reason, that teasing grin faded into a small, melancholic smile. "but I don't particularly mind sharing my story. As long as you don't mind something... rather an emotional rollercoaster. I assure you it's sweet though."
Hmmm, tale about Aeterna? "...It's not mine, frankly. I'm just occasional worker, and... Well, I guess I don't even remember how it began..." Yuuki admitted. "...Well, I forgot if I have said this or not, but what I said to you just now are personal experience I gathered in few weeks worth of self study and field outing... ...Truthfully, I'm amnesic... Well, not fully amnesic, but whatever about Digital World, I forgot it. I don't even remember that photo on the wall. Why do I have black hair and red eyes? I also looked hella older. Hikaru insisted it was me, but to me it felt like... who the hell is this Prince Noctis cosplayer?"
Hikaru burst out laughing hearing that. "You know a lot of girls mistook you as Noctis wannabe and asked few photo with you."
"Seriously!? Egh..."
"Well that aside, Yuuki is pretty much the investor, and I'm the owner. Technically, you can say we're co-owners, but Yuuki preferred to be called investor. He said he'd rather not deal with the headache of being an owner. I was the one who had the idea. I feel Digital World could have more place to relax, to be yourself, to just drink some bubble tea when it's hot or snacking on something sweet you know? For last few years... er, Digital World standard, I pretty much developed taste in developing new drinks and all that. I wanted to share it to the world! I don'/t are whether it tastes shitty, or maybe people don't like it. As long as they can have something to talk and relax, and probably order one item in my menu that they love everytime they came in, that would be the happiest thing for me.
I just want to give place for traveler to relax, and trade stories, and all that fun jazz, heh. I love adventuring, but at times it's also fun to just sit back and hear the stories from visitor's mouth, you know? That's why I don't mind if people hit me to chat. Hospitality is number one, that's our motto."

"Hikaru," said Levi, smiling warmly, "I would be happy to listen to your tale."
Just then, the conversation between Alan and Yuuki continued. "Amnesia!?" commented Alan, "That's terrible..." He could only imagine what it must be like to have to take other people's word for your past. "I hope you can regain those memories soon, if possible. But... you seem to be dealing with it alright, I hope."
Aside from that, it made both Alan and Levi happy to hear about Hikaru's reasons for opening an establishment such as the one they sat within.
"Hospitable, huh?" The young drake took a look around him. "I'd say you've accomplished your goal quite nicely. And don't you worry. The food has been completely wonderful!"
"I completely agree," chimed Alan. "And I appreciate your desire and drive to open a place like this to no end. I'm glad we're getting to experience it. Business has been well, I assume?"
"And you don't have to worry about telling that story if the mood's too bright now, Hikaru. Though I really wouldn't mind hearing it some time, if you're up for it."

"Well, if you guys want to hear it, heh..."
Hikaru poured some milk tea for himself, on ice, that is. He poured in some tapioca beads and shake it vigorously with a shaker, then adds several drops of what smelled like hazelnut extract. Once he done, he poured it on a tall glass and sipped it for taste. "Mmm, not bad."
It's such a strange drink, at least for the talk that was about to come. "...My life, you see, wasn't a really clean one. You can say that we had quite the... uh... mishap. At first I'm just a regular Dorumon, happy, all that... would you believe me when I said in the past I was a completely aromantic asexual mon? All I wanted back then was adventure. I feel like I need to instill adventurous spirit on this young man here," Hikaru poked Yuuki's rib, to which he returned with an elbow nudge. "...but our adventure is not really... amazing, to be honest. Sure it's fun, but at times it get too dangerous for comfort. Our first encounter was against a really crazy lawyer and his Bearmon... I was almost dead in that encounter... but looks like curse of death was not far from me.
I gone to bad parts of Digital World, where it's kill or to be killed. Not just me, but Yuuki too, and everyone else. We... got too strong and entered radar of a certain group. It ended up with us having to take refuge or hunted by them. Even in the refuge we're not free from Digimon and Human who wanted to fuck us over. It's not a haven, considering that not all people who reached the strongest level are actually a decent human being. I have no idea where they are at the moment, or whether it was just a dream that I had... but even then... exposed to such condition I become rather... nihilistic. At that time came a guy who somehow... attracted that nihilistic me.
He was a Gabumon... and... well, how to say this... Because of what happened to me recently, his name has now faded away from my mind. He was really nice, and he helped me going through those hardest part of my life. However... One day he got permanently deleted. He faded before my eyes... and he whispered to me to honor his life by keep on hoping for the future. That it'll be brighter. People who had no expectation would not be betrayed, sure, but they will become empty husk of themselves. That's why, even if it hurts... keep on dreaming. Because by dreaming and hoping, it'll be sweeter when you get exactly what you want.
...So that's what I'm going to do. I might not be with him anymore, but... Well, his words will always be my compass in the darkest hour.
Other than that, well, I'm engaged you see," Hikaru took out a seashell necklace out of his kilt. "To a really dorky Gaomon. Funnily, I taught him just like you at the moment back then. It was a practical date lesson, but suddenly he proposed to me, that dork! 'I think I like you' he said! Never have I laughed so hard inside like back then! It was my total defeat, and I accepted his dating proposal, then one day I just... offered him an engagement, heh. Here hoping we'll get married soon. We got two kids already!"

Bad parts of the digital world... kill or be killed... the young man and his draconic partner were definitely aware of these dangers when it came to the digital world, which is why they were definitely grateful that they had people like Yuuki and Hikaru to offer them advice regarding the basics of keeping their heads. They didn't plan on dying, after all. And this Gabumon… this important person to Hikaru who died... it would seem as if his dying words were used to convey a philosophy that Alan certainly agreed with. As sad as it was to hear of the lack of memory of his name, and his permanent deletion...
"It sounds like this Gabumon truly wanted the best for you. I firmly believe that whether human or digimon, life is always what you make of it. So the decision to always hope for a better future is one I've made, as well."
The Dorumon's comment about already having two children made the pair look at each other briefly and laugh. "Well, I think it's safe to say ya like 'im! We'd love to meet your 'dork' sometime when he's around!"
"Oh, and truly, thank you for being so helpful! I feel like we've done nothing but made you talk this whole time. Is there anything you want to know about us? 'Snot like we have any tragic backstories or anything, and the most turmoil we've faced in the digital world so far is purely emotional, but still-!"

"Wiiiill call him one day, heh. Owen the Gaomon is his name, leader of 7/71st... I don't quite know what it stands for to be honest... Seventh battalion, 71st platoon or something? Frankly a military stuff is not my... greatest knowledge. I'm more of a knight myself. I guess Yuuki being a history geek made me, his partner, easily influenced by it."
"Come to think of it, you do. I'm not sure my knowledge of history is so accurate tho. I'm more of a myth geek if you ask me," Yuuki commented.
"I love how you corrected me on that. Hmm, well, we got to know one another quite a bit, but... lads, I have important question, or homework better said. What do you want to do in this world? Think that carefully. Those who have been called to Digital World, whether it's partnered to a Digimon or not, will never able to break free from it unless they shatter their digivice and go on their merry way. Digimons attract one another... the same can be said to the chosen. If you don't have strong conviction, even if you stay in the safer part of Digital World, you'll still get pulled into conflict... so...
...Think it very carefully... what do you want to do from now on. How was your story before this... and how your story should be as you proceed?"

"7/71st..." Levi pondered. "Team ranking? Seven Over Seventy-First? September 9th? Eh, probably what you said."
"Well," began Alan, "we'd been assuming up to this point that we'd be pulled into conflict eventually, so above all else, we wanna be ready for it when it does. That's why we want to get over our fears. I... don't like to think of life as a story. It has a beginning, middle, and end, sure. But no matter what, you're always gonna be disappointed by the ending. Ya know, if you're one of those unlucky folks that has one. Sure, there can be stories within life, so overall, I consider it to be... well, experiences. With that in mind, we want to enjoy it. And help other people enjoy theirs. We'll be able to do all of that better... if we get stronger... developing both as chosen, and as people."
Levi nodded. "The digital world seems wonderful for that."

"Fufu, guess we saw things differently on that one, Alan," Hikaru said "Life is a story for me no matter what, where I'm the main character. Even if I have to play supportive role to Yuuki, I'm still THE main character. I might end up regretting the story, but I won't regret the process. Teaching you two today are one of the charm of life, and I dare say you two charming lads made this Digimon's life brighter. If you need any training just tell me. I won't be the one training you, but I have friends that can."
Hikaru drank his tea and finished it. "...Well, with that said, sadly I have to go back to my work, fellas. Let's say today's tab on me, eh? Of course you're free to hang out more if you want, return anytime to Aeterna... we'll always welcome friends and new acquaintances with warm reception and smiles! If you want to chat, we'll always be here--well, unless for some reason or another we moved or is in missions ourselves."
"So he said... Well, if you want to order more, just say. But otherwise I have to go back to work too. Thanks for the chat, alright? Oh, and please pet Haku on your way out," Yuuki joked "The good boyo would love some good patting, heh heh.'
